  1. Exactly how many yards in retaliation penalties before you're acting like a real man? It's called discipline, something our team prides itself on. Best revenge is laying 50 points on them this weekend

Yes, we should definitely encourage these players to become violent and take unnecessary penalties and fines. Genius, pure genius.

  5. Channel the anger and frustration into beating the man in front of you and making them regret crossing the line. This is sport, not gang turf, we settle things on the scoreboard. Maybe we should be more like BC and meet them in the parking lot? Maybe we could be like TOR and go fight in the stands? MOS syndrome? You mean, least penalized team in the league year in year out? Thats not weakness, that's net yardage, that's winning a game of inches. Discipline.

Voting 101 The who, what, where, when and how of casting a ballot in Manitoba's provincial electionBy: Free Press staffPosted: 3:45 PM CDT Tuesday, Sep. 5, 2023 Manitoba’s 43rd general election will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023. Manitoba has 57 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), one to represent the people in each of 57 geographic areas of the province. Voters choose which candidate will become their area’s MLA. Manitobans do not vote directly to determine who becomes premier. Before an election, each political party chooses a leader. The leader of the political party that has the most candidates elected becomes premier. Who can vote? To be eligible to vote, you must: Be a Canadian citizen; Be at least 18 years old on Oct. 3; and Have lived in Manitoba since at least April 3, 2023. Voter registration Voting is faster and easier if you are registered before the election. (But you can still register on election day; more on that below.) If you are already a registered voter, you will receive a card in the mail telling you when and where to vote on election day and in advance voting. Elections Manitoba regularly receives information from Elections Canada, Manitoba Public Insurance, Manitoba Health and Vital Stats, so it can keep the list up to date when people turn 18, become Canadian citizens, etc. — so even if you have not formally registered at your current address, you might already be on the list. The cards are mailed starting Sept. 5. You can check to see if you’re already registered on the Elections Manitoba website. Enter your name, birth date and address, and Elections Manitoba will see if you’re on the list. I’m not registered! If you’re not on the list or if the registration information is incorrect — for example, you moved or changed your name — you can register or update your information until Sept. 14. You’ll need to scan and upload pictures of your identification; here’s what types of ID can be used. If you can’t scan your identification, you can still register to vote at your local election office. To find out where that is, put your address in this form on Elections Manitoba’s website. It will show information about who your candidates are, polling locations and the “local election office.” Call or email the local election office for information about how to register. If you register or update your registration before Sept. 14, a voter card will be mailed to you on Sept. 14. Take the card and identification with you when you go to vote. (More on that below.) When do I vote? During advance polling: Saturday, Sept. 23 to Saturday, Sept. 30, you can vote at any advance poll in the province. Advance polls are generally open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, though some exceptions apply. On election day: Vote on Tuesday, Oct. 3, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., at any polling place in your electoral division. You can enter your address on Election Manitoba’s website to find advance polls close to you, and your polling place for election day. How do I vote? Go to a polling place. You can enter your address on Election Manitoba’s website to find advance polls close to you, and your polling place for election day. Take identification; here’s what types of ID can be used. Show your identification and your voters card, if you brought one, to election officials. They’ll give you a ballot in a “secrecy sleeve.” Take your ballot behind the screen and fill in the name of the candidate of your choice. If you need assistance, an election official can help you or you can take someone with you to help. Put your ballot back in the “secrecy sleeve” and give it to the election official at the ballot box. He or she will put your ballot in the box or vote-counting machine. If you don’t have identification but you are on the voters list: You can still vote on election day (but not in an advance polls). A registered voter in your electoral division who has acceptable ID can vouch for you. The person signs an oath affirming your identity. Vouching is acceptable only if you are on the voter’s list, and a voter can only vouch for one other voter. If you’re not on the voters list but you have acceptable ID: You can still vote. You’ll take an oath confirming your identity. If none of your ID shows your address, you’ll also have to sign a declaration of address. I’m not in Manitoba to vote! Are you a snowbird? Canadian Armed Forces member? Temporarily studying or working far from home? If you expect to be outside Manitoba Sept. 23 to 30 and on Oct. 3 — or if you’ll be in Manitoba but far away from advance or regular polling places — you can vote with an absentee ballot. Apply on Election Manitoba’s website or at your local election office. You can also fill out this form and mail it. Absentee ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Oct. 3, 2023. Elections Manitoba suggests you apply before Sept. 22, otherwise you might not receive the ballot in time to return it. If you apply after Sept. 22, you might need to pay for faster delivery service for your ballot to arrive by Oct. 3. Local election offices cannot accept applications for absentee ballots after Sept. 30.

OL have long memories. The CFL probably did Robertson a favor by suspending him this week but they only bought him time.

  11. looks like we are actually finally looking at some PR depth...Nice to see a legit returner, tho not sure why the need for another receiver...and why bring back a DB now for the 3rd time??....another end is interesting...

  12. Totally agree. You pick your shots...maybe if we were up by 30 at that time but I think the lack of retaliation is because the Bombers are extremely well coached in that regard, cognizant of the time of game and importance of not retaliating, and also very well coached to respond to stuff like this BETWEEN the whistles. I played and coached football a long time and their is dirty stuff that happens in the piles, and in the trenches literally every play. If OL were to retaliate every time one of their guys got a cheap shot their would be 5 ejections a game before the end of the 1st Q. Intelligent, well coached players know not to retaliate, not to lose their cool. That's half the battle for most of the guys in the trenches game in and game out. Composure. This isn't hockey where there is a code, and two guys can square off and duke it out for retribution. If one of our OL had retaliated and cost us the chance at the TD we would be lynching him on this forum right now because it would have been stupid.

  13. Desjarlais was on New Orleans PR for first 2 weeks and last 9, so 11 total. So that's a minimum $132,000 USD he made last year. Obviously as a CFL free agent he comes back and makes about as much as he would as a guy on a NFL PR for a whole season. Ford is year 2 of rookie deal in CFL. He gets half a NFL season on PR that's a lot more. He's active for a few weeks, quite a bit more. 6 game checks left in Bombers season, so about $25,000 CAD plus playoffs. Take self out of this NFL season completely. CFL should let players out once season ends. Then there'd be a chance for more guys to come back. 3 weeks on a NFL PR is more money than he'd get for 6 games plus playoffs in CFL. Ford isn't a CFL free agent until after 2024 season, February 2025.

  16. Have the Bombers announced they signed new guys to the practice roster? There's a number 13 returning punts. Update: Tait said its Ronnie Blackmon, new WR/KR.

  17. I think the lack of retalliation on Robertson by our O-line was probably due to the expectation that he would be ejected, fined and suspended for an appropriate time by the league. The Bombers were behind at the time and needed to keep their cool and not take a reaction penaty.

  18. Brady was actively trying to deter any lineman from doing anything..and to be honest not sure most if anyone actually saw it..Kolo and Dobson possibly as they both came over immediately But Brady had sense to try and deter any secondary penalties to take advantage of the ball position and scoring chance Smart Both been brutal...and McRae I don't think offers more ...we need more on defense than a 4 play a game offensive piece...at least Parker secured the ball with no fear off turning it over...I'll take Marvin Coleman catch and get any yards over what McRae gave us
    4 points
  19. On the coach's show O'Shea also talked about how Robertson had his right foot out in front of himself to put more force behind the head butt. This wasn't a love tap between linemen that Sanchez was comparing it to.

  20. The biggest thing for me is how late it was after the whistle. That and it's a QB. You protect them at all costs, because we're already awfully thin across the league for talented QBs. For those two reasons, it should have been more. Send a statement.

This is so horribly inaccurate I am at a loss for words. You think that our guys are not feared, or that machismo and violence is a show of pride in oneself? Are you Craig Dickenson? C'mon....tell the truth. Last year a player went after another player in retaliation for a cheap shot on his team mate. He no longer plays in the CFL and the result completely derailed their entire season and made them the laughing stock of the CFL. Is that you Marino?

A lot of people like Tarrio (Cuban decent, living in Florida) are very right-wing/militant based on their own history (or their family history) in Cuba. Based on what happened to them under Castro, they want nothing to do with the "left".

  31. Beyond the two rouges, Parker let at least one if not two other punts bounce in front of him, and tried east-west a bit too much. Let’s face it, neither is in the same universe as Grant, and O’Shea will show him that loyalty you seem to hate and give Parker another chance this week if the coach’s show comment is to be believed, but he was hardly the saviour you’ve been touting with your weekly rants for the past 6 games. And Parker also made the single biggest gaffe on coverage teams when he tripped his own player. He was not good last game, and was less of a difference maker in the secondary than McCrae has been on offence, and that is a low bar. But hey, one game. Let’s see how he does this week.

Proud Boys are a neo-fascist group which is predominantly white supremist, but do not discount the desire for power to motivate people to align themselves with groups hostile to them, There was an African Nazi contingent in WW2 and people of Jewish background there as well.

  38. Parker probably a more useful roster piece than mccrae overall, but as a punt returner he offered less than mccrae has. Neither one is a good enough option there.

  39. Football is a different sport than hockey where retaliation is the name of the game. There aren't a lot of fights. Discipline is stressed so much. Unless you're a Rider player.
    2 points
  40. Simple. It's a slump. Things happen. Guys maybe get complacent. Perhaps one of the receivers think the other guy will make a play. Just a lot of reasons for it to happen, They just have to get untracked. I'm hoping the Robertson headbutt will wake this team up & motivate them to put an ass whupping on the Riders on Saturday.

  41. I realize there are issues in some areas of the roster, and that is going to happen with any team. What bugs me about this loss and the Ottawa loss, is the how they simply founds ways to lose. Sure. But they still should not have more than 1 loss.

  42. I just hope we don't wait until the fourth quarter to start playing offense.

  43. Would hope they are...assume they are too...even if we got him...I have doubts Osh would even put him in when u have stars like Kramdi...Bennett...Thomas...eating up roster space
    2 points
  44. Nor is McRae tho...but he is a legit threat to cough it up...so we stuck between rock and hard place...at least Parker would have more overall impact We have to reserve ourselves to the fact that Osh is unwilling to shuffle the deck and inject some new spark...anywhere and are going to have to suffer through going with his favs...or guys who he feels he owes it to...plain and simple...the fact he didn't ask Walters to get him a legit returner in the meantime while Grant heals is a joke...2 games of garbage should have had a guy or 2 in here for looks...how u think Grant got on the roster...
    2 points
  45. I really don't care about average when it comes to returns. I want a guy who is a legit threat to break one. Parker isn't that guy. We need Grant back, or a legit returner ASAP. Demski is better than both of Parker and McCrae combined but it would be foolish to risk him. Maybe Grant is close? I hope so...but if he goes on the 6 game again and we stand pat it would be a big mistake. Returners are not expensive.

He also just falls down after 3 yards when catching it. Neither McCrae of Parker are particularly good but for different reasons. Surely there has to be some unemployed actual returner somewhere we can bring in if Grant doesn't return soon.

Honestly, Parker does nothing for us in the return game either. If Grant is not ready to play I could care less whether it is McCrae or Parker returning. The only thing Parker does well is catch. His returns are non existent. We desperately need Grant back soon, and if not a new returner that can actually give us some returns.
