  4. I will be 90 (hopefully get there) and will be talking about Rasheed Bailey like he was the reason for every ring during this period. The self confidence that man has knowing he will be getting paid back 10 fold for the discount he is taking this year and hopefully more is amazing. Pretty sure he knows his payday will come after he is retired.

  6. Bailey is a true legit Bomber...a lot of what they are as a team stems from him and how he worked his butt off in 2019 to get on active roster

  7. Why would they have to dump him? He's still on his rookie deal so he's getting peanuts next season. They can still try to bring in Brown without moving Ford. Jones clearly isn't a huge fan of Ford and has already stated camp will be an open competition next year so it's not inconceivable that they take a run at Brown.

  8. SteakTips Prime Cut of the Week ------------------------------------ Rasheed Bailey Was deemed expendable in FA and the guy swallows his pride to come back and be with his team and team mates, making less than what he should. The guy blocks his heart out and whenever the ball comes his way he makes plays. Great run and score this week which was not only talent, but all heart. Does not look out of place whenever he is on the field and is one of several reasons why the loss of Schoen is not as impactful as it could be. Bombers are deep when they can look to a guy like that when one of the main weapons goes down.

  9. Caleb and Dane Evans are both in the 90s base, could earn up to 155ish, Dane Evans a touch more but he's nowhere near most of his incentives. Shiltz has a higher base with less incentives. Say Calgary dumps Maier and Dru Brown wants to go there. They are out $105,000 in 2024 if they have to cut Maier straight up, but realistically they can probably trade him because his base is only $210,000 with some incentives and roster bonuses on top of that. If Ottawa loses out on Brown grabbing someone like Maier to compete with Crum and Adams (both on rookie deals) would be a no-brainer. Basically replace Arbuckle with Maier, a little more cap eaten but not much. For BC, Adams is signed through next season with no guaranteed money. Easy for them to move on and grab a guy like Dru Brown for 3 years if this post-season goes nowhere for them. Hamilton, BLM has a $175,000 bonus January 15 on a $540,000 base and no guarantees. They'll be pulling the plug on that deal. There's a high probability of a QB carousel this year because of how bad QB play has been and how dissatisfied many teams are with their options. Dru Brown will have his pick of teams. The Bombers have leverage to let Brown negotiate early for compensation which will be important for teams that need to move out another guy either by release or trade to avoid bonuses.

  10. Just break down the numbers if you want to gage impact. Betts had 8 sacks in the last 12 games of the year. He produced over half his total in the first 6 games. 3 of those teams were playing backups at OT. Not trying to diminish Betts but Farhans reasoning is out to lunch.

  13. Yeah seems to be a cyclical thing...are we in the early stages of say 10 yrs from now guys like Brown...Powell....Forde...Dukes and some other random guy became really good successful QB's..I think that Kid in Ottawa who blew his knee out had some real potential...reminded me of early stages Damon Allen

  14. I think Ottawa, Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Montreal and Hamilton all make offers to Brown.

  15. So Winnipeg finishes the season as the highest scoring team while also giving up the least amount of points. Winnipeg 14 4 594 377 BC 12 6 495 439 Calgary 6 12 412 471 Saskatchewan 6 12 387 551 Edmonton 4 14 367 517 Toronto 16 2 591 396 Montreal 11 7 442 392 Hamilton 8 10 408 461 Ottawa 4 14 415 507

  20. I dunno....A QB isn't just what SASK needs for any semblance of turning things around, and truthfully....a QB going there is gonna suffer, and to expect Dru to do there, what he seems to do with ease here....he will get ruined there, and likely be a negative career defining time for him. Any semblance of a legit opp to look like what he has here, of teams possibly offering him anything is in Mtl...but how tied to the Faj is Maas....next spot is CGY but I honestly can't see DD admitting he messed things up there and dumping Maier...especially with guaranteed cash and him being the GM.... new GM at that....not a ringing endorsement of sucess I not sure hese buckets of gold at the end of a rainbow, and the big competition for him is gonna be all what people think Smart thinking, and forward looking by him and his agent might just be negotiating the best he can get here, and not hamstringing the team....like a lot of his teamates have before him, incentive laden it...in case of injury/degrading play by ZC and continuing what he has been here. 2025 is a long time away, and lots can happen and maybe he beats put ZC for job in 2025....and ZC renegotiates a team friendly deal to be back-up and have chance to go out a Champ right here on IG Field An angle many aren't looking at...and quite possible

  21. Rasheed is a big part of the heart on this club...Just watch Bailey, Brady and Demski on the sidelines.....They're always pumped and can't wait to get back on the field after the D does their thing....You don't see that on a lot of other CFL clubs.....Big reason why we are a WINNER

  22. Guy plays every damn down on offense too. Which is unusual for a running back in this era (like the past 30 years). Excellent in pass protection which is huge on top of being the most productive offensive player in the league when he has the ball. The guy is involved in every play. It's not like he's a wideout that is just having a jog when the route is on the other side of the field. Betts plays 2/3 of BC's defensive snaps.

  23. A lot of the funky rules...and obscure ones were there when a lot of major rules in game were way different and hadn't changed to more modern ones...kudos to their coordinator seeing that one..and exploiting it But I think too it needs to be altered a bit...or even shelved now...if we allowed dbs to play like before with contact and not this no more contact stuff ..sure..keep it..not as it is now through

  24. they did last year! I believe the numbers was around 150k offered by the Riders but he turned it down to stay in Winnipeg. I do believe he said that he was hoping to prove himself this year and put up stats that would get him a lot of offers, but he absolutely was given a big offer last year and turned it down. Because who the **** wants to live in Saskatchewan.....

  25. Betts was not more impactful than a RB who plays the entire game with outstanding production to go along with doing everything like pass protection. How impactful was Betts in the Lions two losses to the Bombers that put his team on the road for the West Final? There's your tiebreaker.

  26. If Walters can't pony up a decent bump to hold him I think Bailey walks after this season, especially if he wins his 3rd GC ring. Rings are nice but they don't make up for lost salary. Don't know how much another team would offer him but he can probably be signed for $140k. Eventually some other team is going to see the benefits of adding his grit and drive to their roster and seriously go after him.

  29. I think a distinction could be made with a blocked punt since the other team touches the ball behind the line of scrimmage and it’s a loose ball situation. This seems like weird rule (ties to the old rugby union knock-on style kick). Remember when OSH did the fake field goal in BC where he hid a player on the sidelines and deliberately shanked the kick to that onside player for a first down? The league jumped pretty quickly to alter that rule. I imagine there will be a review on the off-season about this type of play.

  32. It's dumb. It's cheap. I don't care if you think it's brilliant strategy. Leave it to some obscure STC to make a miockery of the rules & make the CFL look like more of a joke than it already is. Ottawa is dreadful. We knew they'd never beat the Argos. I can't stand just how bad that team is managed & coached. Every year it never changes.

  33. Montreal is the ultimate mid-tier CFL team. They were 0-7 against BC, Winnipeg, and Toronto and 11-0 against the rest of the league. Wonder how often that's happen -- undefeated against lesser teams, winless against the top tier.

  34. 1. Hansen...great push all game, never mind his play on specials. 2. Our future d'line players showed that they can ball. 3. O'line pushing the pile down the field keeping Brown clean, and enabling Brady Johnny and Les the room to run. HH Castillo. Made all his kicks in bad weather, and a 51 yarder to boot!

  35. Well we know this isn't what happens when you have 3-4-5 teams involved. Arbuckle was simple because there were two teams in the QB market and one of them wanted the veteran. The only other person who will be a free agent and is a potential starter is Dane Evans. Based on recent performance, everyone's top choice will be Brown. There's pretty low level risk for teams like Sask, Ottawa, Calgary when their current starters can't win a game. It's not like we're talking about dumping a productive vet for a younger guy anywhere but here. Everyone else's QB situation is awful outside of Winnipeg and Toronto.

  36. I liked the way Augustine played yesterday. He ran for some tough yards. He has a reputation as being a fast runner who goes down quick. I think we’re in good hands if we ever need him.

  37. If Strev was to come back next yr, With the 2qb rule being on field together I'd offer him a fair deal, as 1B but also an incentive laden one for TD's ...Yards....etc...And use him at same time...TE on big packages...2 RB set...where you dont know if he will run or pass....Use the heck out of him...Short Yardage specialist......You could effectively replace JA...Jackson and Prukopp salaries with Strev....get 2 firt yr entry level guys to fill the roster spots of Jackson and Auggie, and also wouldnt have to waste a DA spot with Jackson who offers nothing that anyone else could...thats what I would do when he is reay...Likely this spring...He will be contacting us first and foremost and give us every chance to get a deal done before he looks elsewhere if it doent suit him

Unless Thomson decides to give up on the Jets... it really doesn't make sense. He's in the top 5 richest owners in the NHL..... this isn't like our old Jets ownership shituation.

  39. Why do I feel like Saskatchewan hires Burris as HC and then dumps Harris and signs BLM to a mega contract? Meanwhile Harris goes to Ottawa and lights it up while BLM gets injured in week 3 and they go back to Dolegala? This idea in my head just seems right....

  44. Brown easily kept is wishful thinking. He's not looking to make 200k next year, could be in line to almost double that imo... I can't remember if it was on here or twitter. But someone compared Reillys stats when he was becoming a FA out of BC, to Browns. And Browns are significantly better. The league has a shortage of quality qbs and Browns agent will absolutely be looking for a pay day. If the Bombers somehow manage to keep him it will be the steal of this century.

  45. Accurate. I wish the league tracked pressures and qb hits. Though Willy missed a lot of sacks this year. Imo no one on d in the league was soo good that they out shine the Argos unit. I’d go with their candidate hands down. I’d love to get to see what a 21 bombers vs 23 Argos gc would look like. That’d hands down be the greatest clash of titans In gc history.
