  1. Hey now, let’s not go bringing the 2019 run into this. Some things are sacred from criticism.

  2. Sure he does. Just saying the play book could have been better suited to his injury

  3. A Strev Brown combo would work real well actually....pay em both 300k...with start bonuses...and a few incentives.....Sign a rookie entry level guy for the 3rd string spot...would be a net savings overall.....And I'd run multiple combos and sets all game with both on the field at once...Strev in back field...TE...run option with both them....could really create a lot of havoc....Get in his ear now about a contract....and if you get it done you send ZC to the Hammer for their Bennett (or at least the rights to deal with him before FA)...Toss in Erlington an a pick an we forge on

  4. We tried to.bring in Durant as we really had nothing other than Willy....Strev wasn't even in the equation and was brought in to camp late...Nichols basically replaced Willy as he got ruined and was playing like crap...Strev replaced Nichols as a raw rookie to.start that yr as he was banged up...and he performed quite well all things considered as he was allowed to.run the normal offence...but once Lapp/Osh saw his knack for running gradually altered his packages to just gimmicky crap...tho effective started to.stunt his growth as a true QB When/if he comes back you will see a world of difference...this notion he can't be a legit starter as he is limited passing is just straight up crap

  5. Hey he had that sweet touchdown pass to Harris in the Grey cup

  6. We traded for Nichols in 2015 when Willy was injured, but Willy was still our starter in 2016 and was benched for performance after a 1-4 start. Nichols obviously got injured, but I don't think we ever saw Strev as a starter as we were reportedly attempting to trade for Collaros that whole season before the shake-up in Toronto allowed us to get him at the deadline. And we never looked back once he got in. MOS called Zach into his office after the Grey Cup saying, "we need you here"; while we were all still having our Nichols vs Collaros debates. If you consider that we also tried to bring in Darian Durant as a back-up, not to mention trying to sign a young Collaros and an old Henry Burris before settling on Willy, QB is actually a position where this regime has been very proactive; despite message board posters bitching about MOS being loyal to a fault.

  7. Yes,it is. Nichols came in when Willy got injured. Strev came in when Nichols got injured. Collaros came in when Strev got injured.

  8. Also- As much as I’m in the keep Brown camp, I understand the difference between what I want vs what will actually happen. I’ve been thinking about Collaros. It would be really nice to see how much of a difference in play there would be if the center wasn’t regularly in his lap. Watched some season highlights over the last few days. Hate to harp on the same guy, but man did that OL ever look weaker in pass pro with Kolo in there. Could have been a bigger issue than we realize.

  9. 1 we don’t know if Zach can. As I broke down his numbers in 9 bomber play off games are pitiful. 2 he wasn’t though. He was in a glut of 3 guys that includes vaj and Kelly. Both of whom are much younger. If he regresses or either of them progress more he isn’t in the top tier next year. I think that’s far from the safe move. The only safe move would be to bring both back. I bet you could get both for less than 600k total too. The options with strevy are unlimited. Idk if ham would pony up given how his stint there ended. But I think ott would.

  10. It is true though... I've seen talk online about whether Lapo would come back if Buck leaves, and I shudder at the thought....

  11. With a package consisting of 100% running plays - I'm honestly surprised he wants to come back.

  12. They tried trading for Collaros but Strev was out starter. That's clear. They only went to Collaros when Strev went down. Collaros hadnt played in months. We have not been proactive with our QBs. It's just next man up when starter goes down, despite the bitching about about posters on this board by some. Christ, Strev could barely walk and they were stilk sending him out.

  13. Brown has put up awesome numbers off the bench and in a couple starts. Why I wouldn't even consider the notion of releasing/trading Zac and letting Brown takeover comes down to this: 1. We have no idea whether Brown can handle the adversity and pressure of being the main man. Tons of QBs have fallen apart once they go from backup to starter. 2. There is no real need to do so, as Zac was still the best QB in the league last year and there is absolutely no reason to believe he couldn't be again. The safe but also best bet is to roll with Zac. Wish Brown the best and let him know that we might be calling him someday in the future.

  14. Ok good. If Buck moves on I want a clean break from residual Lapo with a new system, never mind the man himself coming back. I’m sure he’s a hell of a nice guy but the Lapo offence definitely has a ceiling. Every year since 2016 whoever our OC is gets penciled in for the Sask job. I’ll believe it when I see it. If anything, the job in Ottawa seems more appealing but I really don’t see Buck leaving here. If we’re going to lose an assistant hypothetically, it’s Jordan Younger I’d be most unhappy about.

  15. Buck to sask? Why would he do that? The team sucks

  16. Not saying I'm in love with the prospect, just that it is what probably happens if Buck leaves.

  17. The difference being that playcalling is what Lapo sucks at! Which is why I don't want him back.

  18. Agreed on the threat-to-run but it doesn't take that much hesitation and indecision for a good quarterback to turn into a mediocre one.

  19. See my take is that Collaros is too focused on going downfield he doesn't use the shorter throws as effectively as he could. There's a balance to be had and I think collaros has fallen into the "huck it! Chuck it! Football!" Mentality

  20. I believe a Strev/Brown combo would make us forget ZC in hurry. But I personally am not ready to move on from ZC.

  21. Yeah not gonna put that on oshea. That's classic Lapo. Longer qbs spend with lapo the worse they get.

  22. Thank you. Tuesday to Thursday was the worst. I was knocked flat on my back with fever, chills, muscle aches. sore throat & deep cough. Slept a lot. Felt a little better Friday & a big rebound day on Saturday. Think I'm over the worst.

  23. You don't think Chris Strevler wanted to play injury or not? -- that goes against all we've learned about him

  24. Aw man, that sucks- hope you feel better soon

  25. Normally I'd agree....but...qb is the one spot where the team has been willing to make changes. Willy was his guy, then Nichols, then Strev, now Collaros. I don't think they move on from him honestly, but I'm not sure it's not going to happen either.

  26. Another thing that could be considered is that, although unlikely, maybe Walter's finds a way to make everyone happy. Good coin to brown to hang around, Collaros with the team until end of GC host year, and then take over. I know Browns mentioned he wants to be a starter but sticking around and staying in a good situation opposed to going to a loser squad might be a good play for longevity. We've seen a lot of qbs change teams for the payday and stink because the foundation wasn't there. Franklin, Arbuckle, lefors. Not saying they would have made it in a better environment but I'm not saying they wouldn't have either. As much as I love a guy like Shoen, maybe you let him go in order to keep Brown. The scouting department has done nice work in finding receivers And one last thought. Maybe just maybe strevler makes it back to the CFL and brings a one two with him and Zach. That would spell Zach in his bad stretches of play. I think there's a lot of allys to go down here and I'd say nothing, aside from collaros being a bomber, is a sure bet .. a lot of fomo going on here. And despite some questionable decisions in very recent history bombers management has made mostly sound choices. I still have a lot of faith in the decision makers

  28. Cuz he lost us a Grey cup. Notice Sayles is not around... Poopkup was let go... then rejoined because piggy was garbage.

  29. yeah you have to be on the actual PR all yr to make the bigger bucks to get you more than a high paying CFL contract...and that rarely happens....more like never happens for a CFL defector to sit on a PR for all 16 games....the meat grinder there chews and spits em out at a crazy rate....Only guys who sit there all yr, and maybe get a call up here and there are draft picks from 4th round and up...thats it....People get blinded by this myth that u go down there and stand around and make oodles....not happening Look at Desjarlais...he prob lost about 100k minimum in cash last yr "hoping" to land on a PR consistantly..He got a few workouts...and looks....but while you looking and waiting you not getting paid Look at our guy Ford....your kids cutting lawns made more than he did this yr hoping on a pipe dream...he just effectively threw a yr of earning away in what is an already short career....Should have came back and had a caveat that if someone approached his agent...we would cut him..... and we will be doing that with him likely..Thomas...Briggs...Miller...quite possibly Kolo...Darby...with all new roster spots taken up by rookies, or guys coming off an entry who will still be cheaper

  30. I hope BO proves everyone wrong, makes the NFL and not just as a 3rd stringer on the PR against all odds. Just like rooting for the guy. He's earned it. He'll obviously always have a home here if things take a different route.
