  2. Scott Grant Photography has a great action photo of your father I'm sure your family would appreciate. You should contact him. His photos are online & you can order it. I remember your father very well. He was just a natural as a player. Peter excelled whatever position he played. He was a safety, a corner, a receiver (wingback) & he could run with the ball as well. He also was the Blue Bomber long snapper. At 185 lbs & he did that very well, too. I remember the game in 1972 when he picked off 4 passes against the BC Lions. Your Dad was one of my favourite player's back when he played.

  3. As has been mentioned by @Booch, Joe Pascucci would be the best to touch base with for any video clips, as he acts as an unofficial club historian with lots of archival stuff from his days at CKND (had the foresight to save the stuff). The Free Press has their online archive, or you could attend the Winnipeg Centennial library to view their entire microfilm catalogue (which would allow you to print any pages from any issue of the paper, provided you know which dates you are looking for). They may have some newspaper photos. As for the club, not sure if the Alumni Association could help, but try their website at www.bomberalumni.com and reach out to them if you have any specific requests. I also saw that the club posted an obituary for your dad on the www.bluebombers.com website back in 2011 (you can still find a link to it by searching your dad’s name on Google), so they might be of assistance too. Finally, as you have seen, @SpeedFlex27 is our resident go-to guy for the past living history of the club, especially the 1970’s era, so he would have a trove of memories for you. Best of luck with your search.

  7. I’m getting a little tired of seeing us sign guys we’ve already had up here before. We’re not in the position to be bringing in guys who aren’t ready to compete for a spot.

  11. If Brown leaves and Dane Evans would sign a deal with us similar to what he played for in BC last year, I'd take him.

  12. Briggs...Maybe Miller...possibly...more hopefully Thomas...that's all I see...Benson possibly too tho he ain't eating up much space for a specialty role... This mass retiring mantra is more media soon speculation and fan opinion.... Biggie won't retire as he is signed...does he agree to restructure and be a bit/role player? Maybe...but could also see him released before FA then to give him best opp to sign elsewhere for good money if someone wanting to pay him before FA dollars get gobbled up. That being said I have no issues with him coming to camp and competing against all up and comera and new young guys...and if he gets beat out then offered the Briggs role and actually designate him as the Nationalized American and freely sub him in for a Canadian for certain situations and sets...he could be very useful in a 30 snap or less role as well as his leadership and defacto extra coach on the staff Walking on in a huff is a good thing...the fire and.desire still burns strong and he knows we wasted another chance....I bet he comes back and goes out on top for 2024

  18. Imagine coaching or playing with teammate who could run the ball, play receiver, play defensive back at a high level. return punts & kicks & be an undersized long snapper? Then be even more athletic as your best American player. That was Peter Ribbins. I'd call him a generational player.

  19. Hello all!!! I hope this message finds you all well. My name is Taylor Ribbins, and I am reaching out to this community with a special request. My father, Peter Daniel Ribbins, was a receiver/defensive for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 1971 to 1976. Sadly my father passed away 12 December 2010. As Christmas approaches, I am on heartfelt mission to create a sentimental gift for my Mother and siblings by compiling a collection of memories, footage, pictures, and/or newspaper clippings from my father's football days with the Blue Bombers. If anyone has any material or know of potential sources that could help me in this endeavor, I would be eternally grateful!! Many thanks Taylor Ribbins

  21. We definitely have a MACK backer already in either Cole or Wilson. Bighill could be rotational or slide over to WIL I'm sure. Would hate to see him finish his career elsewhere... Someone compared him to Harris, but I think they're different situations. Call it "different personalities" maybe.... But I'm not sure how welcome in the room Harris was toward the end. I think Bighill still commands a lot of respect from his teammates and would be welcomed back.

  22. Buck and our OL could be very good for Dane. Thought he looked like his old self in limited reps last year. I'd be down with that.

  23. Zach was 32 & close to 33 when Brown got here. Now, he'll be 35 this season. Those 3 years are huge. if we let Brown go & don't sign someone who is capable of helping us win if Zach goes down then we as an organization deserve everything bad that happens. It'll be a bad move & at some point we'll pay dearly for that decision. Some of the back ups in this league are dogs.

  24. That is a sad sack list. Brown is the only one on there that I would want to start because the rest are god awful. Stevens is the only one who still has a chance

this is a very famous thing people talk about online. Everyone claims to remember it, but it never happened. There's a name for the phenomenon (escapes me now) but I swear it comes up once a week online.

  31. Mace is a good hire. But nothing matters unless that ol is fixed first and foremost. And oday has proven he can’t scout ol worth a damn. we actually have two. Brown isn’t a free agent currently. 2024 fa is a ways off. Yeah The fandom doesn’t have scars currently. We’ve been to 4 gcs in a row and won 2. We have our coaching staff and front office back in tact. No one’s hurt or sad or w/e. Some pissed that we didn’t squeeze out the victory but no team is better poised than us to be in contention next year.

  32. His hair was shoulder length & he had a big moustache like we all did. Players in the 70's took care of their hair & just didn't let it grow to their knees like now. Different era.

  33. IIRC, your father was picked by the Bombers in the first round of the Canadian Football Draft. The Bombers had two first round picks in that 1971 Draft. They took Bobby Kraemer from the University of MB with their first pick & your Dad with their second pick. Kraemer was a great selection & a very good athlete but he couldn't hold a candle to your father. I also remember reading that your Dad was considered the most athletic player the Bombers had. Both you & Kraemer had a great deal to do with the Bombers going from a CFL last place finish at 2-14 in 1970 to a 7-8-1 third place finish in the Western Conference in 1971 his rookie year. I also remember your father catching a TD pass from Don Jonas in the 1971 Western Semi Final against the Saskatachewan Roughriders.

  34. Weird that Meier and Corny and Adams got so much then. What you’re saying makes sense, TBurg, it just never works like that in real life. There’s a world out there where Dru signs with Ottawa as the back-up to Masoli and takes a low base with start incentives. But if Ottawa cuts Masoli and sign Dru with the intention of being their starter, they are going to give him a starting salary.

  35. See confidence was never fajardos problem. An excess of confidence was. He believed the smoke the rider media blew up his ass. That's why he was such a whiny ***** about struggling. He legit thinks he's a star qb. He's never going to be a smart qb and he's never going to have an arm that scares anyone.

  36. Fajardo sure played well thaat one day. This may & I say with a bit of trepidation as I know some will laugh in disbelief that it may be a turning point in his career. Maybe he finally gets the inner confidence & takes the next step up. Or he doesn't. Time will tell.

  37. Would you be comfortable having fajardo as your starting qb? Sun shines on every dog's ass now and then. He avoided being terrible in the Grey Cup while collaros was bad. Doesn't mean anyone thinks fajardo is better than collaros. Was one game.

  39. Yea..pretty much. You bring guys in late season with the PR expansion and find the ones you want back for camp the next year. I am not sure where Mike thinks we get all these game ready rookies from? Any CFL team might be able to get 1 or 2 a year. The rest need some time.

  40. couple of things... -I think it's getting harder and harder to convince players to come north... they're going to wait for NFL PR spots or maybe even the USFL/XFL league.... so it's tougher finding new talent to bring in -Matthew Schiltz is a poor man's Dakota Prukop......and I don't particularly care for Dakota Prukop.

  41. I think Jake Thomas might be ready to throw in the towel, but it depends if he has any "after football plans" or if he wants to hang onto his golden goose as long as possible.

  43. no....means replacing a Biggie from the starting lineup.....dumping an Augustine at 100k and replacing with a rookie....a Thomas.....a Briggs....a Kolo....not re-upping a Houston and using our scouting to replace him....Benson.,,,Miller....you replenish with entry level guys there, or guys coming into only the second contract in free agency from elsewhere will fit right in there then...keep em coming Oday

  44. Defensively, Ribbins was a ball hawk & similar in stature to that Ducoix kid in Montreal. He's the closest to Ribbins as a DB I've seen. They're very similar. But Ducoix can't play the other positions like Ribbins could.

  45. and...what has Harris ever won?...theres that too....stats between the 20's with minimal scores does not make a winner The fact that a new HC has accepted a deal/position right out of the gate where he is basically saddled with a player, and had no say in it is not a good start...let alone look I'm almost certain Brown won't accept a deal there if he does entertain offers...especially with the condition of that oline, and the risk it may be the same as last yr...or worse....Also...who is the O.C?....has that been decided?...and a new QB trying to become the guy on a new team...without a legit established OC...QB coach and system in place....he won't be going there...and his teamates and ZC himself have already been explaining all the factors to him, and making sure he chooses the ideal and right situation...and it ain't there....In all honesty his best bet is to remain here on a fair deal...with start incentives if ZC gets hurt and or falters, and continue his path to the heir apparent in a system and environment he knows and is comfortable in...and has thrived
