  1. I’m talking about guys like Nate Givhan, who were in camp last year … or Tyrique McGhee/Kelvin McKnight who get signed 87 times but aren’t good enough to play. It’s becoming habitual and I don’t love it. We’re signing gap fillers instead of guys who can be real players because we seemingly have no urgency to build and develop depth, which must be driving Walters nuts

  3. hows it unlucky?...You had Ambles and Alston...BOLO actually on roster and I dont even recall him getting a snap....let alone a chance to make a difference.....also Mcrae tho who knows what his real status was as we dressed him for the previous game and I dont think he had cleats on, let alone a farts chance in the wind to see the field Coaching failed us in our second straight game we pissed away...Mtl paid no real attention at all to Schoen and Bailey other than let them grab a few pointless short out patterns underneath that were'nt going to amount to anything...Demski may have been more effective tho not his usual self if we had Ambles and Bolo clearing out areas, and actually drawing attention away from him and Lawler....If Mtl failed to respect them and play way off...they would have been roasted

  4. nice....good portion went to this yr cap ....freeing up valuable cash for the Schoens and BO's....expect a few more before the yr is up

  8. Even then, some offenses will be able to deal with the pressure. I'd say you have to be able to go with a 3 or 4 man rush & trust your back end to cover.

  9. Even when he wasn't getting sacks, Willie was still making an impact and (arguably) had a better season than last year so I don't think age is an issue for him yet. Rotation, or lack thereof, is a bigger issue (imo). 2022: 33 tackles, 7 sacks, 10 knockdowns, 2 forced fumbles & 1 interception. 2023: 21 tackles, 11 sacks, 13 knockdowns, 3 forced fumbles & no interceptions.

  10. During that 20 years the riders were a strong market for little more than a blip. They also had save the riders rallies yearly 20 years ago. And are tanking hard again. Bandwagons emptying riders aren’t the back bone of any thing but the basement these days. Best of the worst. Do you honestly believe Zach would suggest going to ssk? First advice from any qb to an upstart in fa is if you can, pick a team with an ol.

  11. You know it's ok to admit that our star players are getting old... happens to everyone. 2019 was 5 years ago. None of these players are the same guys they were then. We need a serious injection of youth because waiting until they really hit the wall it is too late. No matter what some people want to believe cracks are appearing.

  12. The amount of comedic posts about anything bombers on yer Lil trashy site it's pretty clear who lives rent free....the funniest thing is now they can't cling to their #1991 thing so they revert back to the idiot who crapped in a flower pot...not even realizing he was a clown from Sask visiting in wpg...that's the best part of that

  14. I can't image that BOOL wants to stay and I can imagine a few teams wanting him.
    3 points
  15. I'm sure Ambles is wondering that too. You bring in a veteran receiver as a back-up in case of injuries and then don't use him when that exact scenario plays out. What was the point of signing him? BOLO is also a pending FA. Unless he was also banged up, what does that say about his future with the club? It doesn't exactly send a vote of confidence that he can't get a single ball thrown his way, despite how depleted the receiving core was.

  16. Yup they need to be building for the future...and Harris isnt that, so not developing a guy now, or going after someone else just further delays their ascent out of the dumpster

  17. It’s going to be tough for Bombers to keep Dru Brown without overspending in the QB envelope since we are already paying Collaros $600k in 2024. But then again, we might have some slight leverage over other teams beyond the fact that Bombers offer an offensive scheme, personnel and culture Brown knows well. For sure Brown is likely to get multiple offers in the Free Agency tampering window that starts Feb 4 and ends Feb 11. Of course one or two teams will go completely overboard with their offers for Brown. But, under the new CFLPA agreement, any club that signs one of its pending FAs to an extension can offer to guarantee 50% of the second year money. So, depending on how the deal is structured (signing bonus, hard money, incentives etc) no team other than Winnipeg can offer to GUARANTEE 50% of the 2024 value of Brown’s contract in 2025. That’s a pretty good inducement to stay home, baby. Explainer: https://3downnation.com/2022/09/28/jake-maier-taylor-cornelius-sign-landmark-partially-guaranteed-cfl-contracts/

  18. Is it just me - or does he not seem to have an answer when an opposing O can handle the pressure?

  19. He doesn't need to be pushed...he needs to have reduced reps to greatly increase his effectiveness

  20. WJ is just fine....as is Jeffcoat if he stays outta the tub...which he basically did all yr for most part...he plays a more physical game than WJ....so that makes that legit rotation guy even more important for the over all production and health....we lacked it last few yrs pretty bad

  22. Harris maybe a good fit for them but as you said, any QB is going to get killed and at his age, that's a huge issue for them. They've been trying to fix the oline "quickly" for a few years now but JOD doesn't seem to know how to do it.
    2 points
  23. Screw the Riders & their fans. They don't care about us. I won't care about them.
    2 points
  24. Harris is the right QB to have in Riderville now, they need a veteran who can get the ball out quickly. What they really need to fix quickly is that o-line, any QB is going to get killed playing behind them.

  29. Mike Oshea says there are no defined starters...even professes it and gets smug with reporters about it....they all number ones....but when it comes down to it...these other "number ones" dont play a lick...I like Osh don't get me wrong but at times he is a BS'er

  30. they were healthy, and able to actually make basic football plays...thats all we needed from them part of the game....the fact tho we had no contingency, or where we did...we didnt use it...Injuries suck, but also is an excuse a team lacking depth makes...we didnt have that excuse up to 2021...we use it ad nauseum now tho...and it's a glaring weakness
    2 points
  31. what we fail to do...is plop guys on our PR that cant cut it, and or get no chance to show anything and when have injuries avoid them like the plague, and suffer with our roster, instead of evaluating guys....maybe give them a opportunity, then either develop further, or cut bait and replace with someone else....that's where we fail...we seemed to have stopped continually turning over stones and trying to get better...we stand pat too much now with what we settled with out of camp....whether they have a future or upside...or not.....thats recruitment and roster management failure clear and simple

  33. App works for me to scan the barcode, just not requesting holds or updating information. Last I saw was that they expected the problem to last for a while. Now that I have to use the website instead of the app, I've found an interesting service where they suggest books. You fill out a form and a librarian gets to you within 5 days to make 5 suggestions. I was impressed with the suggestions made for me. - Five-in-Five Book List (libwizard.com)

  35. We of course love the TH but you have to admit putting out songs like Wheat Kings about David Milgaard and "38 Years Old" about a prison break in Kingston Ontario isn't going to make many Americans run out to buy the CD (as we used to do in the 1990's)....

  36. Nope, Ritchie doesn't adjust. He'd blitz into a brick wall if he felt it would work. The problem is we don't have a good enough DL. They don't pressure qbs on their own so Ritchie tries to make up for it by blitzing. We have to rebuild our interior DL.

  39. Agree with this but we definitely need more rotation on the Dline to keep him fresh. DEs can play for a long time but can't play every snap.

  43. Sorry, I am not buying into Ambles/Alston over Schoen/Demski. We had McCrae and BOLO sitting there in the wings and that is more than reasonable depth. We just didn't use it.

    The RIP 2023 Thread

It was the liquor laws that changed everything. The MLCC allowed hotel pubs to have recorded music. That change was made between 1975-77, not sure what year. Before, hotel pubs only could have live music (bands). I know, my friends & I used to go out Fridays & Saturday nights to listen to bands before the laws changed. Once the liquor laws changed, very few bands had venues to play & that is what killed the band scene in Winnipeg, All kinds of bars sprang up around Winnipeg as the recorded music didn't just have to be in hotels anymore. It had nothing to do with the music industry in Manitoba.

  46. We’re paying Zach more now than we did then. I don’t think our cap will allow us to spend resources on an experienced #2 and there isn’t anyone in the league who could keep us afloat if Zach was out. I would much rather our limited resources and time went to someone with a higher ceiling.
