  1. Milanovich is right there for them. Hard to believe he wouldn’t end up being the HC given that most of the candidates around the league have already settled into their assistant roles.

  2. He didn't win anything because he faced the Bombers. Being second best to the Bombers is nothing to be ashamed of. And, being 9th best is just Riders way of life.

  3. Coaches were ****, roster management was **** and players made too many mistakes. It's never one thing, but make no mistake the roster mismanagement led to mistakes by players.

  4. Holly is great people. She and I used to chat when WJ played for the Riders, lots of love for the Jefferson family.

  5. Bring back Kongbo AND I hope we go after Mason Bennett in fa .....local guy who is /was wasting away in Ham......He would be a nice D line addition and McManis would be a nice add although linebacker appears to be less of a need

  6. Walker came on as the season progressed. It's up to Walters to sign another Steve Richardson type.

  7. McMannis or Pickett would be amazing adds at linebacker.

  10. Really all dl need to actively rotate in the modern cfl. You don’t gain much by sending 1/2 and playing cover 1, since teams will just chip WRs, roll, throw at the gap and with the narrow hash marks it’s really easy to throw to the gap. Cover 0 and playing dbs back by the first down marker gives you a chance but you’re still real susceptible to yac plays. The key to consistent pressure is mixing looks. 3 and 4 man fronts, layering pass rush lanes, twisting, running cheetah, then showing and dropping from blitz looks. Doing all that requires guys to constantly be as fresh as possible so they can really get after it. When you try and do that stuff with out rotating especially if they other team runs with some balance the dl just gets beat up.

  11. He doesn't need to be pushed...he needs to have reduced reps to greatly increase his effectiveness

  12. I dunno, having 3 gimped receivers and collaros forcing a throw to the one guy who's healthy and the als can focus on doesn't lead to an interception? Having to move 3 guys around in the secondary to deal with 1 injury doesn't lead to a bust in coverage and a td against?

  13. has to be Milanovich....anything else would be really strange.

  14. That was my immediate thought. Seems like the obvious choice.

  15. With the Bombers recent struggles to do so, I'd like to see how they fit all these hats under the admin. cap. Sounds like Steinauer should have been outright fired, but being a favourite son they found a nook for him to sit in so he could still receive a paycheque and participate. The Ti-Cats find ways to cheat the ops. cap. almost every year.

  16. If Oakman was NFL talent he would have got a look even with history. He's a freak sure, but down by down he's playing a position that needs consistency and he's way too easy for OL to move around.

    Game 24: vs Hurricanes

The whole team owes Brossoit dinner for those two points. DeMelo can get the liquor bill.

  18. Woods is a tall lean 3-4 4i/end tweener. That projects as a regular cfl dt not a nose. I didn’t see any snaps with him lined up on the nose in college. Remember stove was a 300lbs nose at like 5’10. Woods is 4-5 inches taller and slim for his weight. He could twist into the nose some but I don’t think he’s gonna be a cfl nose. He does have great mobility for a dt though. He’s like a heavier Ricky walker.

  19. He should genuinely start over Bethard.

  20. Robert Bean. Had a decent year in 07 then fizzled out. I think his wife got into it with another poster on here. BTW I love this thread. So many old names.

  21. What makes me laugh about this the most is guys like @GCn20 claimed all year that we were the most talented. Now we lost. And the same guys are telling us our coaching staff did nothing wrong. If we were the most talented and no mistakes were made, why did we lose?

  22. We have so many Canadians that play on defense there's no reason not to use more Americans on the defensive line.

  23. Yeah long time guy. Is he ready? Yes. In his reps over the last couple years he’s been very good both pre season and late season. The question is will he physically hold up to starting every game. Don’t and won’t know till he’s in the fire. yep, holly is the First Lady of Winnipeg. They’ve lived here full time for a couple years now iirc. He might be a candidate for coaching down the road too. I 100% think the answer is flipping the dt ratio spot and running full imp starters on the dl. Sign oakman, bring in noses to rotate with walker and oakman use Lawson to bring in an imp db/ rotate guys.

  24. WJ is just fine....as is Jeffcoat if he stays outta the tub...which he basically did all yr for most part...he plays a more physical game than WJ....so that makes that legit rotation guy even more important for the over all production and health....we lacked it last few yrs pretty bad

  25. I’m talking about guys like Nate Givhan, who were in camp last year … or Tyrique McGhee/Kelvin McKnight who get signed 87 times but aren’t good enough to play. It’s becoming habitual and I don’t love it. We’re signing gap fillers instead of guys who can be real players because we seemingly have no urgency to build and develop depth, which must be driving Walters nuts

  26. Mike Oshea says there are no defined starters...even professes it and gets smug with reporters about it....they all number ones....but when it comes down to it...these other "number ones" dont play a lick...I like Osh don't get me wrong but at times he is a BS'er

  28. Alford played division II college ball and it took one year with us to get an NFL look. Oakman is 31, and played for Penn State and Baylor before going around different leagues since 2018. If NFL teams thought he was at that level, he'd have had a look by now. He didn't fall through any cracks.

  31. What time was that? The Ti Cats think Orlondo Steinhauer is this almost God Like figure. That he was some kind a cracker jack HC. A coaching guru. Yet, he didn't win anything. So, Steinhauer had a 15 win season in 2019. Who cares?? The Bombers killed the Ti Cats twice in the Grey Cup & he's had two losing seasons since as a coach. If any coach is overrated, it's Steinhauer.

  33. Toronto rotates every one in their front. Including the best lber in the league for two years. Oakman is a top tier nfl talent, you don’t end up in the cfl being a guy like him or Willy with out knocks.

  34. Hopefully we already signed him. Woods made 78 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three pass knockdowns, and one forced fumble over 49 collegiate games at the University of Illinois. The six-foot-two, 290-pound interior defender went unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft.

  35. What makes me laugh about guys like MIke is that they think talent can't make mistakes. One is not exclusive of the other. Also, I think I've been very consistently saying that I thought Buck and Hall called a horrible game and the non usage of BOOL and McCrae was a mistake. There was literally only one way the Bombers could lose the Grey Cup and that was by making mistakes and they did. We were the more talented team, I don't think that's even up for debate, and we gave the game away.

  36. Because mistakes were made, no one claimed differently. Zach’s INT and Brady’s fumble, for example, are two mistakes that almost certainly cost us points that would have made the difference.

  42. You know it's ok to admit that our star players are getting old... happens to everyone. 2019 was 5 years ago. None of these players are the same guys they were then. We need a serious injection of youth because waiting until they really hit the wall it is too late. No matter what some people want to believe cracks are appearing.

  43. Media keeps talking about them, we can't escape it. Same as the media with the maple leafs. If the media would stop forcing it down everyone's throats no one would care.

  44. hows it unlucky?...You had Ambles and Alston...BOLO actually on roster and I dont even recall him getting a snap....let alone a chance to make a difference.....also Mcrae tho who knows what his real status was as we dressed him for the previous game and I dont think he had cleats on, let alone a farts chance in the wind to see the field Coaching failed us in our second straight game we pissed away...Mtl paid no real attention at all to Schoen and Bailey other than let them grab a few pointless short out patterns underneath that were'nt going to amount to anything...Demski may have been more effective tho not his usual self if we had Ambles and Bolo clearing out areas, and actually drawing attention away from him and Lawler....If Mtl failed to respect them and play way off...they would have been roasted

  45. what we fail to do...is plop guys on our PR that cant cut it, and or get no chance to show anything and when have injuries avoid them like the plague, and suffer with our roster, instead of evaluating guys....maybe give them a opportunity, then either develop further, or cut bait and replace with someone else....that's where we fail...we seemed to have stopped continually turning over stones and trying to get better...we stand pat too much now with what we settled with out of camp....whether they have a future or upside...or not.....thats recruitment and roster management failure clear and simple

  46. too bad we only rolled out 2 healthy ones...Epic failure of stupidity

  47. We do nothing but have different opinions - there are several threads devoted to Zach vs. Dru comparisons moving forward. But you bringing it up while we're on a different topic sounds like you're trolling. I am one of the people here who welcome other team's fans - but there is a low tolerance on this forum as a whole, so if you would like to post here, consider it a friendly warning.

  48. Here is what you are failing to consider.... one of the things that this team used to do every single time was grind it out and wear other teams down over the course of a game and pull away in the end. The reason they were able to do that was primarily because they rotated like 8 quality guys throughout the defensive line and were always able to control that aspect. Last 2 grey cups we've seen the defense let them down late in the game and a big part of that is not having the quality bodies to keep rotating. That's roster management and it arguably cost them multiple games this season. Grey cup 100%, probably the loss to Ottawa as well. Cfl rosters are small enough as is, you can't be wasting spots on guys who don't contribute anything.
