  2. Farhan is going to blow smoke up any Canadian’s ass but Brady (and I say this as a HUGE fan who would love to see him in the NFL) has less than zero chance at making a NFL roster. What’s the appeal? He tests slower than defensive linemen, he’s not young for a rookie, he has no extensive experience contributing on special teams, he has a running style where the size won’t compute at the NFL level and on top of everything else, he’s a small school Canadian. If he wasn’t Canadian, we wouldn’t even be talking about this on this side of the border.

The average family income in Manitoba is less than 90k before taxes, and plenty of people make it work with less than that. Roughly half of Manitoban families will qualify. That's pretty big. This is a good thing for a lot of people that could use the assist.

  4. Not impressed with Ryan Phillips. Bit of a prima dona on the sidelines.

  5. I am surprised you are advocating expanding the dental initiative- good on you. I agree- its a start, but we need to further with it. I also agree that we need a national pharmacare policy- the MB one sucks. income of 90k with 3 dependents has a deductible of almost 6k. That is too much. a family income of 60k nets you a deductible of 3k... still too much.

  8. Was just going over some of the threads since the GC and there seems a lot of finger pointing going on. I do agree that Bighill and Schoen should not have dressed. We only had one deep threat and that was covered. Bighill could not perform as he had all year and while he has lost a step he was, lets say sufficient. He couldn't move or run and Montreal took advantage of that. I do agree that there was a lack of rotation on the DL and that caused major problems. The D backfield wasn't all bad and yes there were some missed tackles but to suggest that Rose would have helped us back there, I respectfully disagree. It is my opinion that we lost the game not because of the players but because of the coaching in all aspects of the game of football. As has been mentioned Oshea played people who should not have played. Some who should have played were on the sidelines fresh. Some were hurt and unable to contribute beyond their presence IE Bighill and Schoen. The defense was outcoached. They could not stop Montreal when they were in a hole on not just one occasion but two I can remember. So the defensive play calling was missed. The offensive play calling was terrible. We run the ball successfully in the first half then abandon it. The passes went to a select few only while we have what 5 potential receivers to utilize? Buck has shown throughout his career that he gets locked into something and cannot get out of it when it doesn't work. Our special teams have been a disaster all year and save for Grant on a few occasions it has been bad. We never seem to be able to switch the field in our favour because of the return game of the opponent, whomever it might be. So while players missed assignments perhaps, didn't tackle well, didn't execute as well as we had hoped, had we had better play calling in all phases maybe just maybe a few of those player errors would not have added up to the loss we had. We will have major changes this coming year so hopefully our scouting staff will be able to recruit good players and hopefully Walters will be able to sign Schoen and Olivera as I believe regardless of who is QB these two will be instrumental in our offensive success this coming year.

Sure, absolutely. Hope we can get there one day. Til then this could help more than half of all Canadian families, those who need it most (those under 90k without private coverage). Putting off dental care leads to much worse issues in a hurry, preventative care being put off by lower income earners is a strain on everyone. This is a very good program. Not sure how any reasonable human can look at this and call it a sham when you consider the good that could come of it for even a second.

  13. He played on special teams when he first broke in with us....however it was not a memorable experience as I believe he broke his leg on a special teams tackle....I think he shyed away from specials after that....Don't see him releshing getting caught up in that nfl grinder

  14. Phil;lip's laughing & carrying on like he's one of the boys on the sidelines when the Lions are winning. He's dour & shaking his head or rolling his eyes when they lose. Acts like an asshat whether the Lions win or lose.

I agree, if that’s the case…. But I’d rather see him get 1st or 2nd line minutes. I know that’s a big jump, but they need scoring and he’s no good on a checking line.

Really bad news…. And Strome gets nothing… That seems right. Who do the Jets call up to fill the scoring void? Lambert has been putting up some points with the Moose. Chibrikov has too.

  18. Fajardo threw for almost 4000 yards this past season. Fair to say that both had a solid receiving crew to throw to. It's not the passing yards with them, it's more the decision making in critical situations.

  19. I think MBT is a significantly better passer. He almost threw for 5000 yards his last year in the CFL with the argos.

  20. MBT? I don't think there's much to choose from - between the two.

  21. Its laughable that Fajardo claims to be taking less money to help the team remain competitive. He's talking like if he's Bo Levi Mitchell in his prime. I doubt there's a team in the league outside of Montreal who would pay him starters money. And you certainly can't pay a guy like that for more than what he is. You're going to need to build an allstar team around him for that offense to be league average. Credit to him for playing the best game of his career when it mattered most. I feel the team is being emotional but dedicating to him when they could probably attract a better option like MBT. But he did win a Grey Cup as their starting quarterback so its more of a reward for that than it is a wise decision for the team.

I think you're overestimating how much the average family makes in Canada. The median after-tax income of Canadian families and unattached individuals was $68,400 in 2021 https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/230502/dq230502a-eng.htm

  24. Gonna put this here rather than the RIP Thread so more posters will see it. One of the greatest Blue Bomber DE's who ever played died today. Jim Heighton played 13 seasons in the CFL from 1969 to 81. Including nine with the Bombers from 1970-78 where he was dominant. He was a CFL Western Conference All Star twice in 1972 & 74. He was 79 years of age.
