  4. https://nanaimonewsnow.com/2023/02/12/cfl-star-andrew-harris-returning-to-his-roots-as-vi-raiders-head-of-operations/ CFL star Andrew Harris returning to his roots as VI Raiders head of operations Feb 12, 2023 | 8:40 AM Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Copy Link NANAIMO — A former Vancouver Island Raider turned CFL standout is coming back to the team as their new head of football operations. Effective immediately, four-time Grey Cup champion Andrew Harris is the new head of football operations for the VI Raiders, and will be the head coach for the 2024 season. Harris played for the Raiders for five years right out of high school, bringing the team to three national Canadian Junior Football Championships (2006, 2008, and 2009), as well as breaking a number of B.C. conference and Canadian Junior Football league (CJFL) records. “I want to take this passion that I have for the sport and build something great for these young up-and-coming players and of course win some championships”. Harris said his five years in Nanaimo as a young player were pivotal in his training and football career. He’s signed to a five-year contract with the Raiders, and will oversee all football operations and decisions. He’ll move into the head coaching role in 2024, with the team opting to hire an interim coach for this season after Curtis Vizza stepped down. President of the VIU Raiders Kabel Atwall said Harris will be a great ambassador for the team. “He will have a great rapport with players, coaches, recruits, and board members and our treasured fans.” On the same day of this announcement, Harris signed a one-year contract extension with the Toronto Argonauts. Harris, 35, was slated to become a free agent on Tuesday. This will be a huge boost for the Raiders, who have suffered a number of unfortunate setbacks in the last few years. In September 2021, about $15,000 worth of equipment was stolen from their changing rooms at Comox Gyro Park. Then in the summer 2022, a fire badly damaged their practice facility, followed by a break-in and theft of $50,000 worth of equipment in the fall. Harris, his partner Danica and family plan to make Nanaimo their home.

  5. Scored a 10/50. Think he’s in a big tie for like 5th or 6th lowest all time. Tee Martin had an 11. QBs average like 24, Johnny manziel put up 33. To be fair touch and accuracy were not in his game either. Like all tests it’s not by any means the be all and end all. But few QBs have low wonderlics and succeed. Fast decision making is key. Tbh idc in the least what he does now. One day (not when a part of the riders though) raise his number and move on. Though the irony of how much rider fans harped about the ped test with Harris if he goes there that is hilarious.

  6. So it was older, fatter, balder Michael Ball?

  7. Guys, it’s Michael Ball. I wouldn’t even bother speculating over it. He’s going to the VI Raiders.

  13. Again, he was supposed to be running the Nanaimo junior program this year. President and HC..... Did that just go away??
    2 points
  14. yeah watch the narrative change and he is a key cog in restoring culture there hahaha But really for what reason would he want to go there to start up coaching....really what could he even offer at this juncture as well....and id numbnutz saying that cause Mace is there and AH will follow?..a coach he prob had minimal interactions with?...But hey I have no issues...one more unqualified and minimal experience coach on that staff the better to keep that turd train chug chugging along haha

  15. I wouldn't even say Fajardo got hot. I'd say the Bombers defensive scheme was completely brutal in terms of blitzing and use of Cover 0/1 looks vs a QB that is so inaccurate. We gave his receivers a chance to make plays.

  16. Yeah, just odd that he would commit to them, a year out, then bail on them before even starting. His life, of course.

  17. Are wombats friendly? Unfortunately, not really. Baby wombats live up to their cuddly reputation, but once a wombat has grown up it becomes a solitary animal that just wants to be left alone. Communication between wombats is often threatening or aggressive and they only rarely seek out humans.

  18. Yeah...just brutal for bluto.....the one and only true fan of the argo's at the centre of the universe.....Big Smoke alright.....I think they mean 'gone up in smoke' as far as the argo's are concerned in TO

  20. EDIT: tried to put the Argo's twitter video announcing our schedule in here (it's funny), it's a play on the general indifference to the CFL from many Torontonians. Thought you like the chuckle, but apparently I can't post imbed a twitter or a video. https://x.com/TorontoArgos/status/1735362695459680599?s=20

  21. I've been saying this for years. Easily the worst Commissioner we've ever had & we're stuck with him. He has no idea how to grow the CFL.

    Upcoming Movies

I'm actually surprised by how good that looks, considering it's streaming only. I feel like 95% of streaming only movies are not good (Knives Out stuff being a rare exception)... but this looks half decent. Helps that it's got Joe Levitt... I'll watch that kid in anything.

  33. MTL played great when needed....we didnt.....and we got out coached....and we also hamstrung ourselves with poor roster moves.....thats why we lost...plain and simple...we will be back, and hopefully now after 2 yrs of failure, and a few common themes that contributed to the losses....our coaching staff has learned and figured out a few of the flaws...if not...I expect the same kind of disappointments even after another good yr

  34. Collaros is way more in sync with Schoen I would say. If I was starting a team from scratch I'd take Lawler. He can do it all. Wish we'd use more screens and specifically to him, stuff to get the ball out faster. Especially need it when teams go heavy zone to take away the deep stuff.

  35. Say whatever we will about Bishop's deficiencies as a frontline QB, nobody would ever argue that some of his traits (arm strength, physicality, speed) weren't elite. Cody on the other hand, has a smattering of skills and attributes which (imo) are in the D+ to B- range.

  36. I’d say earning their comeback, not stealing anything.

  37. Which just proves that it's a team game Even with a healthy Trevor Harris, the Riders probably don't make the playoffs, much less win the GC.

  38. It was mostly a defensive thing and not turning the ball over. The game he had in the Grey Cup was above any game he had during the regular season or in the playoff game. Call it what you want to call it.

  39. The primary point here is: You can win with a lesser talent at the QB position. From that POV, the Als didn't make a mistake signing Fajardo Sure, they could do better at that position - but mission accomplished for 2023
