  1. I would like to see Rourke here. Easily would be one of the top three QBs in the CFL.

  6. Well, you're not the HC or GM so clearly the Bombers won't be moving on from Zach. It's a qb wilderness out there. Do you see who's available & who we could sign to replace Zach if we traded or released him? Other than Dru Brown (who has only a little body of work as a starter) there's guys like Marcus Fine, Dane Evans, Matthew Schilz & Jake Dolegala. Throw in MBT & maybe Streveler (who isn't a starting qb) & I'll take Zach every day of the week.

  7. And this is one of the biggest problems. The inconsistencies. The refs just arbitrarily making calls that they’ve ignored previously, then missing a blatant penalty and turning around and calling a tickytac infraction that has no effect on the play. Just be friggin consistent. Set the precedent early and STICK WITH IT. At least then the players will know where they stand.

  9. I think the guys on that verge will be Augustine, Bailey, vet dbs, Thomas, and sadly woli. He just had a career year and is coming into his prime, but I don’t think woli plays till he’s old by wr standards. 6 seasons for him already, prett my crazy. Food for thought, I demskis 5th season of regular play he had 654 yards and 4 tds. Woli had 668 and 6tds. Demskis two best seasons in his first 6 are very comparable to wolis too. 654/772 with 10/6 vs 650/668 5/6. If woli doesn’t retire, over the next two years we likely have the best 1 2 punch of ni WRs in the league. Who also happen to be very versatile and blocking machines. but on topic, if we move on from Augustine for a rookie ni or imp, plus move on from 1 vet db or Bailey we easily keep Brady lawler and schoen. As much as I love Bailey, the majority of his touches going to woli, Demski, lawler, schoen, and Brady doesn’t make us any worse it probably makes us a little better. His blocking and leadership would suck to lose. But it’s hard to pay the 6th offensive option 100k and give em enough touches to be content.

  10. I actually thought Kramdi got better as the season went along... by the end he was a more than solid contributor. I've got high hopes he can take another step next season...

  12. Winning starts in the trenches. If a bad team wants to change its fortunes that where you start. Look at Lawler in Edmonton in 2022 or Gino Lewis there last season. Getting production out of one star wideout never helped. Solid linemen on both sides of the ball win games. We started winning in 2015 when our lines began to play better. They aren't exciting picks but linemen win championships.

  14. this was what Gretzky always said.... the players don't care if you're going to call things super tight, or you're going to let everything go... but be consistent about it so they know. Nothing they hate more than never knowing what is or isn't going to get called.

  15. removing Thomas...Briggs...Benson....Darby...Kolo....more than covers any bumps...especially with 6 game money being diverted to 2023 bonus for 2024 I could see Brown re-upping for one yr...with a pile being given this yr, and his base next not being that cumbersome, and having a per start or performance clause included

  16. Rourke would have to A: Start at least the last 2 games this year, and B: play well enough to save Belichicks job. With the Pats being as ass as they are, I don’t see either happening. Rourke will be the latest example of how NFL politics can screw over extremely talented players. Unfortunately for him, I think his only chance to be a star is in Canada.

  20. No, he could become a backup. What's wrong with that? We need depth. Kolo played alright for us last year. He's not an All Star but the guy can play. If Eli replaces him, fine. Yep, agree. Getting rid of Kolo would be a mistake.

  21. The QB NE drafted three years ago, Mac Jones is awful and has been benched more than once. If they land the #2, they're going QB, either USC's Caleb Williams or UNC Drake Maye. Harrison goes 3 to AZ.

  22. You can't make an NFL roster playing in the CFL. It's his dream. Unless you were a first-round pick, you have to just put your time in and get lucky with the situation. Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant behind a first-rounder and a regular starter. Found a way.

  23. I don't know, there's a lot of experts saying he's wasting his life and he should be playing in the CFL.

  24. If he does or he doesn't, I can understand why the powers that be are not going to roll the dice. ZC is their safest bet.

  25. It appears fairly certain (baring injury) that Collaros will be playing in Winnipeg until his contract is up. Given this team's history at the QB position, I don't see how anyone can be firmly on side with letting him go. I mean, you've probably got an eye on the future, and that's fine. But it's pretty safe to say that the Bombers are focused on winning a GC at home, in 2025. ZC gives them the best chance to do that. He's had some bad games, some of which were unfortunately Grey Cups. But that's going to happen no matter who you have behind centre. I think we have the talent on the OL - to get back to kind of protection he was getting when he first came to Winnipeg. The brain thrust needs to start the players who can make that happen. If you're in the position of several other teams around the league, then you absolutely go with a guy like Brown. In Winnipeg, you play the safe card and go with the experienced vet. Just my 'Boltus scarred' 0.02

  26. Kramdi has become a versatile ratio option on defence, he allows them to play one less Natl. on the D-line.

  27. Rourke is a good passer though, people just need to admit it, bottom line, he's a good QB who would be instantly top 3 QB in the CFL, might argue TOP 2, if he signed back with whoever, Would I dump Zach to sign him? No because dumping Zach might mean certain other guys don't want to come back. i feel part of the pull here is these guys have been up and down the country the past 4 years now TOGETHER. That's part of it right, so that's a tough decision, its an easier decision in my opinion to move on from Zach but give the reigns to DRU because DRU has been up and down the country with the same group of guys also. Continuity is important, think you have to be careful not to ruffle to many feathers. It's all just what if's though because we all know damn well, they ain't dumping ZACH for Rourke or for Brown. Or anyone else right now

  32. and last year was the first time we've really questioned him, so it's possible that he was playing through an injury or something and last year was just an aberration... it's at least POSSIBLE that next year he's back to being absolutely dominant again.

  33. Yeah, #66 is not as shutdown as he used to be, but they certainly won't find anyone better to replace him If he wants to put his body through another season, it's a win win for the team

  35. Only a couple of business days left in the year and they've only announced the resigning of 2 players, not a lot of time left to spend leftover 23 cap money.

  38. I just get the impression that Mac Jones thinks he knows more than his coaches. With a miserable SOB for a HC. constant losing & a qb with a chip on his shoulder it must be so much fun to go to work.

  41. Some people here put too much weight into age on olineman...as long as they aren't just fat turds with zero mobility (Dan Clarks) then mid 30's isn't an issue unless they constantly in the tub. Eli wasn't signed for 3 yrs to be a back-up...The gig is his next yr and likely we dont bring Kolo back. Gray is the perfect 6th lineman as he can play all the spots, so I can see Dobson getting the legit opportunity to un-seat him. And a guy signed now doesn't guarantee a spot come June either...well shouldn't and hiopefully Oshea has learned that lesson...Maybe Neuf becomes the extra guy as he is versatile as well...I just hope this spring there is legit competition in camp and no gifts and loyalty plays this yr
    1 point
  42. Neufeld was his usual steady self. No issues with him coming back at the right price. Kola you have to let go to FA. Eli needs to be in that spot in '24. Let Dobson duke it out with Gray for LG.

  43. That's all well and good... but what's the succession plan for the OL then? Cause I don't really want to see them carry 7 on the roster again. It's a bit of a waste of a spot... if Eli and Dobson are that good shouldn't they be playing? Guess it can all work out if they simply replace the centre with Eli.

  44. So about $200,000 USD difference not factoring taxes for a person who also doesn't necessarily live or train in Canada. If he's active for 8 games he blows the CFL salary out of the water. The CFL is not going to compete with the NFL. The guys in the CFL have to be ones who have more or less ended their NFL dreams.

  46. Rourke is continually clearing waivers with little or no interest in the rest of the 'no fun league'....I think they consider him a 'lesser talent' and the politics being what it is down there, will eventually lead to a dead end....He could fill BC place and most likely be paid handsomely for it....His choice but like Ford with regard to us, can't seem to get the bloody stars out of their eyes....It's costing them and when it comes down to adding up potential dollars and career standing, they seem to be a bit dense
