  1. I'm ok with having Biggie back to platoon but he was the 3rd highest paid LB in the league last year so he'd have to be willing to take way less money as a part time player. That money could go a long way towards bringing younger core guys back.

  2. Why we arguing about someone replacing Wilson when bighill is the guy needs replaced?

  3. This team is very good. If we can get our special teams going, look out. Not to mention getting Connor back.

  4. I'd argue that Lawson has moved ahead of Thomas, Eli has moved ahead of Kolo and Cole deserves a shot ahead of Wilson but that MOS would likely stick with the vet in each case. We need to get younger since we;ve had the same core since 2019.

  5. Aw, come on, give him a break. It's only January 3. There's no way his number is that high!🙂

  6. we're getting to that time of year where signing bonuses are going to come due... that's going to make for some interesting decisions.

  7. The biggie situation is probably more in line with can we get similar play or a bit better at a cheaper price? And I think there are a few vets that the team will look at via that lense.

  8. I'm leaning more toward "Bighill needs less reps", but not entirely replaced. I still think he has value, but needs to be fresher at his age.

  9. Jets with a club record 9 game point streak, Hellebuyck has gone 10 straight without a regulation loss (personal best) and has given up 2 or less in 9 of those 10 games. Was 3rd star for the NHL in December at 7-0-2, 1.88 GAA, and .934 save %. Life is good as a Jets fan right now.

  10. I know refs are human and will miss the odd thing, but they have not covered themselves in glory in the high stick department tonight.

  11. I'd rather our depth guys be players needing experience and with a higher upside then keeping guys who are old and very average on the decline.

  12. Hopefully Walters is a little ruthless this off season in terms of who is brought back.

  14. Dunbar is a decent receiver, bet somebody picks him up. I bet the Elks keep Ole Yukon even though they should not.

  16. Doesn’t the amount of nationalized imports increase this year too? He’d be perfect as one of those guys.
    1 point
  17. Agreed. He would have good numbers but we'd be a .500 football team In 2015 for the Argos and 2016 for the Redblacks - he played some of his better ball Yet, a 41 year old Burris had to come off the bench and take over the Redblacks in 2016

  18. Cole for Wilson was more an older vet who has had some injury issues and a young player who seems to have earned more time. I'd prefer Jeffcoat too, just want a quality backup to rotate with he and Jefferson.

  20. I don't think anyone puts Allen up there with Flutie and Moon, etc. though. It seems less that he's overrated and more that Noeller wants to add a "yeah, but" anytime someone mentions his accomplishments.
    1 point
  21. Mostly agree with Noeller. If you're rating him amongst the CFL's greatest based on his career stats then you are over rating the guy. Id rather have a qb who was great for 10 years and then another qb who was great for another 10 years then one qb who was good for 20. He's basically Vernon Adams if he would stay healthy and play a long time as his current level of play.

  22. never said he was BAD..... said he was overrated. Which he absolutely is. A very average QB who managed to play forever because he's Gumby, and never got hurt, so he racked up stats due to longevity. I always go back to "there's a reason he wasn't a first ballot HOF-er, despite all his 'stats'..."

  24. The reffing in this game is absolutely brutal. Clear bias towards Tampa. How the hell was that not a high stick on Nino??? Finally a break. Ehlers with the backbreaker!
    1 point
  25. I’m mentioning the refs way too often, but holy hell, these guys are brutal! Nino pretty near gets his head taken off with a stick, and no call. Tampa high stick their own teammate, and we get a penalty. Sure, that makes sense.

  26. Tampa is getting away with a lot. But Jets are persevering. Huge goal by Iafallo. Make this power play count!

    Game 35: @ Minnesota

That’s pretty ridiculous that the live mic is inadmissible. That’s like a court not allowing a recording of a guy telling another guy he’s going to kill him…. Right before he does.

  28. As it stands they still need 2 Natl. DT's to rotate, Lawson has probably moved ahead of Thomas as the starter and has already re-signed, it's what happens behind him that is in question. Don't agree Kyrie Wilson should be replaced by Cole, as I see Wilson as the eventual replacement for Bighill. Cole is better as a swiss army knife used in certain situations, Clements has a better handle on the WIL job and is an important player to re-sign.

  29. Great. Thanks for chiming in with the identical post for the 850th time this year. No one is arguing your point and you won't change anyone's mind who disagrees. It's been a year of this. It feels pretty redundant. Give it a rest at least for the offseason. If the same issues crop up next year OK....fair enough...fire away.

  30. double yikes!!!....Sure let them come and battle...tho thats just wasted TC roster spots....but if he....and not sure who else was referred to...but say a Briggs..thats an epic fail...with recruitment...and most of all HC decision making...No way a guy like that..Briggs...Jackson....Schmeckle...Bennet....Kolo...should even make the team let alone active roster....Bennett I know was a last yr draft pick...same with Schmeckle but showed zipittydodah...and also aren't the future...There are also others who are on the list of if they make game day roster...its a fail...big time

  32. thats what happens when u give skilled ballers a chance and dont block them with past their prime garbage, or guys on roster serving no purpose...we have a couple other guys who would have been impactful if the HC didnt play fav's and roster people for unknown reasons

  36. Yep Lancaster has some brutal stats for a legend of the game. Allen does deserve to be in the HoF, imo, if I'm being unclear.
    1 point
  37. Had to look it all up to be sure... that my memory wasn't failing me... Allen had a career 56.3% completion rate and an 83.something QBR. Those don't look like HoF numbers at a glance. He had a HoF career, but few QBs get so many years to fill out their stats. Allen's completion % improved and trended upwards late in his career... without a string of later seasons of 60%+ his career accuracy would be downright brutal. Clearly his running ability buoyed his... less than stellar passing skills. He parlayed his athleticism and ever-growing experience into a very long career that allowed his passing yardage and TDs to pile up. It takes nothing away from his illustrious career to say his longevity helped him pile up the stats. All that said, it is unforgettable how Allen went off in his 40s, he sat a lot of critics down with his Grey Cup MVP followed by 5000 yards and CFL MOP the next season. He's the exception that proves some guys still can get it done well past the usual expiration date

  38. I love this city... honest! I'm glad this writer was able to go on a whirlwind tour of some of the most sanitized/manicured experiences a tourist can hope for while still getting a frank and honest tour of Higgins and Main, Bear Clan HQ, and some unscripted encounters to solidify the Winnipeg experience... "A man veered across the sidewalk, yelling at the air in front of him. Experiences like that make some people feel unsafe downtown...", a common every day experience that any common puff piece might have glossed over or omitted. Good read, I love the optimism for the future of Winnipeg (I need more of this myself), it's always nice when a visitor leaves with a generally positive impression.

  41. Bigger picture EOD, life is always good as lifelong Jet/Bomber fans W or L, i.e., provides a great escape, can meet new people, build a community etc etc. (insert Jim Carry throw up meme) My eye rolling corny statement to start off 2024 with a bang. 🙂

  42. Fair enough. I like Cole rotationally with Wilson, unless Biggie is not back, and I definitely want to see more of a rotation at DE as well....whether that is Haba or not remains to be seen. I suspect we will have some DE's in camp to challenge his spot on the roster. To me the only guys we might be ruthless about this offseason are Miller, Alexander, and Fatboi. They are deadweight now. Guys we should be recruiting hard for potential replacements should they have lost a step or to get some seasoning for 2025 are Biggie, Jeffcoat, Stan, and Hardrick. We need to get some good young guys coming in to replace them in the not too distant future, Everyone else is pretty much good to go, or have good replacements ready, for the next year or two. Some will say what about Collaros? Yep, but not because I believe age is even remotely a factor. I just believe that you should ALWAYS be looking for your next franchise QB. If Collaros was 25 right now I want the Bombers turning over every stone to find someone better. Bighill doesn't need to be replaced. However, we should be making his eventual replacement a priority scouting duty. I don't think we were really arguing about Wilson but I agree, that finding a Biggie replacement is a bigger need. WIlson still has some good balling left.

  43. he needs to take that choice right out of Osh's hands....to be honest bite it...u chime in too with some repetitive narrative, everyone does....and Osh has already said...he see's no issues with roster and some aging , and non productive players...so yeah...its alredy reared its head
