  1. Streveler in negotiations to return to the CFL and the Bombers appear to be the front runners, as per Jeff Hamilton

  3. Strev was created from a slab of Greek Mythical Marble. He can't change, everything just changes around him.

  4. some interesting stuff from Our Man Tait, and I highly encourage you to give him a click: https://www.bluebombers.com/2024/01/12/1st-10-january-12/ Just a teaser for you that I think a few will have interesting: Had a great conversation with new Blue Bombers defensive coordinator Jordan Younger earlier this week. That story can be found here. Yours truly couldn’t cram everything from a 24-minute chat into that first piece, and one of the intriguing chunks not included was a discussion on how Younger puts his stamp on the Blue Bombers defence. That answer, it turns out, is both complicated and fascinating. “Let’s talk about blitzing, for example,” Younger said. “it’s not about whether there is more or less of that, it’s when you do it. Everybody’s doing similar things at the end of the day. You’re rushing four, you’re rushing five, you’re rushing six or rushing seven. Those are the options on the table. What makes each play caller unique is how well can you make coverages, systems and reads match up with what the offence is doing. We’ll try to be dynamic that way where we have tools built into the system so we can solve problems in real time and not necessarily have to wait until we review what was going on. That would be my goal.

  5. I think going into the season with an aging QB who hasn’t looked good in fall weather in four years is gambling at the QB position as much as anything.

  6. Now I'm ******* angry all over again. Thanks jerks.

  7. Yup, some of the guys who get signed in the off-season don't even make it to camp. Just funny that we announce the signing right after all the Brady talk this week.

  8. Augustine is going to be 31 in July and has been in the CFL since 2018, he is not going to morph into a starting running back.

  9. And, I'm okay with this. I like Prokup. He's more valuable than Augustine to me. He gets those tough, short yards better than anyone else. And, he's always a risk to throe a pass. Now, who catches that pass is not always a Bomber. I'll take Strev, a real throwing threat over Prokup.

  10. If I was Dru Brown, Calgary is the best landing spot for me. I can get the cash, DD is a former QB with some similarities to me in how he played and JM I can beat out in TC.

  11. If they bring in 5 RB's, the message will be clear.

  12. Streve in talks with Walters about his return....Thought it was a good idea but didn't have much faith in it really happening....IF Chris returns here that would give us a very nice winning combo behind centre, and seeing how Brown is moving along , the move fills the bill....I believe Booch predicted Streveler would return ....his prediction looks like it's going to happen....Great call Booch if you happen to be lurking

  13. Personally i prefer Streveler to Dru Brown. With everyone healthy he helps the team win more than Brown does and we are trying to win Grey Cups. I would think he'd be coming in with his special package on a regular basis like the good old days.

  14. Look I’m all for player safety but why is the league so fascinated with putting the ball on the 40? It’s an easy FG drive at the least for any competent offence. As a reward for your D giving up a touchdown? That’s just plain stupid. Again, foolish of them. I’m pretty sure it was always going to be Ottawa though. On the field, I don’t see them as the shitshow some others here do. They were a decent team last year with no QB and a lot of bad luck. Hell, they beat the Bombers. With a consistently good QB, couple pieces in FA? They could get very good very quickly.

He deserves it. But, I would rather see him overripen with the Moose a while longer.

  16. Not too worried about it. He stayed at QB and was working on throwing mechanics a lot more. Only thing I'd be worried about with a guy who is 5 years older is willingness to run recklessly like he did in 18 and 19.

  17. The DB’s name is Blue. Good handle if he pans out…. Now go find a guy with Gold for a surname.

  18. I don’t think so. That usually occurs when the player is asked to change their game or body to fit an NFL role. QB is QB. I’d worry more about that if it was a front 7 type for example.

  19. Interesting timing to add an American RB... 😂 https://www.bluebombers.com/2024/01/12/blue-bombers-add-three-to-roster-3/?fbclid=IwAR0OO1Xy0JJiXWzEMrf-3gPedjoN0a9gBVrLQGJ2o5ptEn7gVDwEpwHL020

  20. And Streveler would be a perfect fit again to balance that out. Hope it happens. Collaros struggles with quick game and obviously isn't a threat to run. Both things that make him easier to defend when weather is a factor.

  21. Zach+Strev would be a great combo and I'd love to see the creative stuff Buck could do with both on the field.

  22. It still hurts having to let go of Dru, but we know he deserves every opportunity and will try and make the best of it.

  23. Also signing Strev essentially means no Prukop and probably a rook at QB3

  24. I am not going to get worked up over the Oliviera/ Shoen opera until the dust settles. Walters has shown himself to be very good in finding and trading for talent and juggling the books. He has my trust and what will happen will happen. Some things just pop up with no forewarning, so life is what happens to you while you are making plans. Sempre avanti!

  25. As much as I like Strev... but between the under arm odour, beer stains & smell of puke, I'll pass on that fur coat.

  26. I like Zach & want him back but yeah, it's time he took a haircut. The money being paid qbs is unsustainable. So, reset the position so this doesn't have to be a thing every year.

  27. Unfortunately, recent history has shown us otherwise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cody_Fajardo

  28. We’ve seen lots of teams splurge on QBs and cheap out on ol etc doesnt work. That’s exactly what I was hoping to hear from jy I hope we see it too.

Jets are banged up. 8 games in 13 days. They get a bit of a break after tomorrow and the rest of the January and February schedule is less hectic. They need rest.

  30. Fair question. He was faster more than quick, and honestly had/has good athleticism for a wr. Athletically, as a mobile qb in the cfl I think he’s gonna be a beast. Decision making, style of offence, and reading were in shambles with plops offence before he left. I think the time off will be beneficial. I think he needed the reset mentally. Even athletically he left with a broken ankle actually too. I think it’s much more of an issue at positions like de, line in general and ball handlers. People put too much importance on qbing. But it does carry a lot of responsibility. But people hate on blink for kgs injury, turned on lawler for not keeping up his insane pace late in the season etc. if lawler Brady etc we’re QBs they’d a been run outta town long ago. they do. Every position is heavily dependent on other positions. The team aspect of football is really under rated. Every great team requires soo much selfless play at various positions like what Demski and Bailey do for our off.

  31. I know what you're saying, but there's always some extra bodies at camp.

  32. To be fair there are a lot more variables that can decide a QBs play. Route running, blocking, play call etc.
    2 points
  33. I wouldn't be happy about that. I'd rather keep Zack atleast another year.. God we forget very quickly what its like to be gambling at the qb position.

  34. If we don’t have Brady, it’s import at RB.

  35. Don’t say it like a bad thing. That’s the best case scenario.

  36. Man that’d be fantastic. It’s interesting to me how brown seems ready and in line for a shot, but no one seems to be interested in going after him. As If every one thinks they will lose the spree and are just moving on. At this point edm, ssk, bc, wpg, ham, ott, mtl, and tor are locked in at starting qb. Calgary is 90% in too. Half the teams are locked in at back up qb with now strevy coming back too. At this rate brown is going to be looking at another back up spot. If I was him I’d look for a 1 year deal at a decent rate maybe with incentives and hope next year people move on from the ancient decrepit husks of QBs like blm.

  37. I would guess that this is based on what the NFL discovered about CTE and how reckless the hitting is on special teams. It isn’t about obvious injuries but the long term effects of brain damage. Remember that the wedge busting play and having more than two blockers together is a new rule to prevent the kicking team have that suicide player blast into 4 blockers to “bust the wedge”. All a result of the CTE lawsuit and NFL settlement and reducing the risk of brain damage long term. Following the huge downturn in scoring in 2021, the league stated out loud that they wanted more scoring and less punts, so they moved kickoffs back 5 yards and changed the starting point post-FG to the 40 to facilitate more field goal chances with shorter drives.

  38. The QBs in question are terrible and renegotiating so they aren't cut outright, Zach equaled the performance that got him the contract in the first place.
