  1. Thanks for helping deliver that 2019 Grey Cup and all the best to him. Classy guy

  2. If you couldn't see Biggie labouring and unable to make plays, I don't know what to tell you. He was not particularly good in that Grey Cup game and really had no business being on the field.

  3. nobody knew Strev had a broken bone (outside the team)....and he was still producing and effective...last yrs guys were not...I also think that the BA injury claim it happened in game was a load of crap, as you can clearly see it at end when he jumped up and celebrated....and regardless as if he was injured...it happened in-game and he showed no signs of being limited...not weeks leading up to the game and his status was in doubt..big difference...huge...those 2 comparisons really hold no weight or validity at all...Schoen himself even said he was shocked he got the nod, and totally unprepared to play....another huge difference....facts are facts...3 poor roster decisions, and 2 other questionable one's did us no favors for the biggest game of the yr

  4. It's a long off-season. Looking forward to more of this.

  6. I remember reading anti-Bomber Friesen articles in the Sun in the break room at Sobeys 20 years ago. Consistent hack.

  7. the whole thing had SUCH negative slant against the team, right from the get go.... that's always been the knock on Friesen (and Wiecek) is the negative slant. It's a reason people always loved Tait. Never led with or looked for the negative...

  8. Stupid ass article from Friesen, what else is new. Love me some Jeffcoat, but is he really that startled at the thought that his team might have other priorities when he’s the one who openly expresses how much he’s been debating retirement?

  9. It sounds like the Bombers never really had interest in re-signing him. Thanks to JJ for being a beast and a great Bomber! Gotta love him!

  10. Not necessarily but I checked, he’s not. Either way, an Iowa defender is high on my list of types I like to see in camp

  11. Anyone who's got the pride and drive to succeed at this level is gonna have serious feelings when the day comes to shut er down. His onfield contributions are what matters to me, not his exit interview. Thanks for being a great Bomber, Mr. Jeffcoat.

  12. I feel bad that he feels disrespected, but as 17to85 was just saying, these are the hard decisions that have to be made. I will always be a huge fan of our 2Jeff2Furious tandem. Haba and Garbutt time...

  13. yup....thats what it is all about...opinions...and worthy discussion over the winter....and the old shoulda woulda couda syndrome... I as well am more than happy how things have gone last 5.6 yrs, and see it easily maintained....I am also a perfectionist to a degree...so adequate...good enough...looking back at success just doesn't cut it for me ....I look at your last performances, and over last 2...I see imperfection and failing to achieve the goal...I want more! lol

  14. No question Jeffcoat feels disrespected, but he talked about this last offseason too. Retirements been on his mind for a while and the club has to lock down the guys who are all in before they start on the flip floppers.

  15. Friesen was finding a way to get the article he wanted - I’m sure he asked if he felt disrespected and led him down that road.
    4 points
  16. Friesen is just so lazy. He's completely unprepared to push back on anything anyone says. He just writes it down. No wonder he had no idea Strev was coming back, as no one trusts him. He just mails it in.

  17. I think he viewed him self as Willy’s equal. But Willy plays a hell of a lot more football every year, and his pass knock downs impact offenses on a whole other level. Reality is a harsh thing. No bad blood for me, I’ve loved his play and defended him his whole career. Fact is, he under achieved his potential despite being a beast. Jj should be a hofer. He’s that damn good. Instead Jake Thomas might pass him in career sacks. JJ should stay calm and in shape. Might be a call from some one like lemon mid season. That’s the real disrespect. Friesen uses JJ as a soap box to write yet another crappy negative article.
    4 points
  18. Yeah, you can imagine the leading questions Friesen had to get those quotes.

  19. The toughest decision to make is when to call it a career, he fought through the season last year rarely practicing and tried to play as many games as he could. Thankful for what he brought to the Bombers when he was on the field but it was time to move on.

  20. I firmly believe (but can't possibly know for sure) that if we started a guy like BOLO or Ambles over an injured Schoen and still lost, many here would be saying we should have played Schoen as he is better at 70% than those guys at 100%... and imo that's probably even accurate. Many here, myself included, were lead to believe that Schoen was only nicked and could have played through it if he needed to. Imagine the outcry if Osh benched a "nicked up and ready to play if he needed to" Schoen and then we still lost... the horror Fwiw, I do remember Schoen saying that he was surprised he got the go-ahead to play, and to me that says a lot. The staff, all of them not just Osh, had immense faith in him when it seems they should have known better. Mistakes were made on and off the field.

  21. This was a failure of the agent. Bonuses should be due two weeks prior to the tampering window, at the very least.

  22. Wonder if Awe's getting a signing bonus or if they'll just put the money towards all the fines he'll rack up this season? I would like to see Baron here, at the right price.

  23. In the end it's all just our opinion one way or another and how much benefit of the doubt one feels comfortable with. I just have thoroughly enjoyed watching Bomber ball the past 5-6 years, so I am willing to cut some slack. Booch knows his shyte, I'm not going to pretend otherwise. He knows that I do to but am just coming from a different angle. Therefore, mutual respect just takes over. Nothing he has said I feel is inherently wrong, it's just not my interpretation. Doesn't make my interpretation correct, or his, just a difference in opinion. At the end of the day all I need to know about Booch, and most of the guys on this forum is that we all live and breathe Bomber football, and hate the Riders. Any disagreement other than that is just how a forum generates conversation and how people learn more about the game. I've learned more about football from people who have a different outlook from me than I ever did from people who are aligned with my thinking. I think that stands to reason. When you are talking in an echo chamber you only learn what you already knew.

  24. Fact is that bighill is barely fast enough these days when 100%. Dinged at all his play drops off a cliff. Should have been out 100%. And schoen wasn't practicing at all... another should have been outm and Bailey was clearly hurt, should have been sat. But really with the receivers you want to play one dinged guy fine, but you can't do 3.

  25. It’s a ridiculous concept. If we have to be benching a guy for a third of the season to be able to afford him and maintain him, it’s not worth having him.
    4 points
  26. I don't like Friesen but Jeffcoat says that article accurately captures the situation. Sucks to move on from Jeffcoat but it's time. That 2019 Grey Cup from him and Willie was one for the ages.

  27. Always a fan of his. Tough to see some hard feelings but can't keep everyone over 30.
    3 points
  28. Injuries sure did Jeffcoat in. Imagine what he could have done had he stayed healthy. As is, we probably had him at 65% most times & he was still a force when he played. All the best in retirement, JJ.

  29. Awe and Lawrence should both get permanently blacklisted from the CFL. Both are dirty douchecanoes.
    3 points
  30. It's the players/agents who put those bonuses in there at that time.... to force the team to **** or get off the pot, and allow them to move on to another team if they don't get the bonus. This is what they want.

  31. Gimme a break. best kept secret in the league. lol. Yea...he was so good that we dared not play him nearly all season for fear that the secret of his dominance would be revealed. He was developing nicely but show me what production makes you feel he was the best kept secret in the league. That is straight hyperbole. Let's not make him into a superstar that we held out of the lineup because he isn't. He is a guy that arguably may have offered a slight upgrade over an injured player in hindsight. Is the argument du jour that playing BOLO more over Bailey would have won us the Grey Cup?
    3 points
  32. BOLO IMO was the bes5 kept secret in the league. That guy can play and was a shame that with everybody hurt he didn't get used in the Grey cup.

  33. Could have had another receiver rostered all year if a certain fullback wasn’t around. Name and rank escape me.

  34. There's the odd case where guys started later or haven't played a lot. Alexander has had all the big injuries. He hasn't really been explosive at all since 2021. Once guys start having the big joint injuries it happens more and more. No one can beat that cycle once they start having knee/hip issues.
    3 points
  35. They need to seriously think about how many 30+ guys are hanging on here. But if it came down to it, I'd take Jeffcoat every day of the week over Alexander...even if he only played half the season.

  36. That's who we need! Jack Reacher!! Him and Damian Jackson could be an amazing one two punch

  37. Well I recall certain posters saying that Schoen was fine, moving well, would be in, didn’t need the practice, and even if hurt a bit was valuable enough to dress even as a decoy, so Osh was not alone. Hindsight always 20/20 unfortunately. And with Bailey, Demski, McCrae, BOLO also all beat up, who actually was left to play at receiver if we benched all our hurt players. Sucks but we got bit by the injury bug at the wrong time, had some bad red zone turnovers that cost us, and ran into a team playing over its head at the exact right time of the year for them. Lots of reasons we lost, dressing banged up all-stars was only one of them.

  38. Big de, almost more of an undersized dt body, 6’5 260s with dt type of athleticism. Part of some really dominant line.
    3 points
  39. Nothing nut props and respect for JJ....As dominant an end as there was when he was playing, and always turned it up in play-offs. But we all reach that point where we no longer can play the game...or are wanted how we feel we should be...never know when it is, but we are all told.....That being said it gives a true opportunity for some new blood to step in and establish themselves, and may lead to a veteran signing too

  41. Is bear woods catholic? Wait... something....
    2 points
  42. For sure. Just saying if a player shakes loose in May that can be a difference maker a good GM will carve out the cash to get him. No doubt it is not ideal. Woody Baron would be a nice add, but he commands pretty hefty dollars....or at least he did on his last contract. I can't remember what he was making but I remember being shocked at the amount. Edit: 150k for this season. Pretty expensive for his output. If he wanted to come in here at 120-125k I would hope we would consider it.
    2 points
  43. Clements is a LB while Baron is a DT so I'm not getting the comparison?
    2 points
  44. you're one obtuse person... best kept secret doesn't mean he was intentionally held back. Just means that in my opinion (which is what IMO means...) is that the guy if given an opportunity could produce very well. And that's based on the few showings he has had. So yes I would rather a player who has shown glimpses over guys who can't play because they're hurt. This idea you have that the coaches make no mistakes is awful. Our coaches regularly dress players who don't take 1 single snap in a game. They waste roster spaces all the time.
    2 points
  45. Count me in for not wanting to lose BOLO. Also hate to lose Bailey, but if he moves on to get a bigger paycheque and a higher profile, then BOLO should be in his spot getting regular reps.

  46. Grown men going on about stuff that happened months ago. You got the one guy who won’t be happy unless he’s the coach, you got others pretending they weren’t sauced watching the game on the TV. Seems fitting. The snow glows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen A kingdom of isolation And it looks like I'm the queen The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried Don't let them in, don't let them see Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know Well, now they know Let it go, let it go Can't hold it back anymore Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door I don't care what they're going to say because it’s time Grown adults to let it go.

  48. Yeah...some guys former teams may step up...or another team may... they not set in stone deals signed yet
    2 points
  49. Yeah, that’s a great description. It’s hard to tell how big he is currently. 260,267 bigger even. If he is close to or 270 he might even be the dt spot for us. Seems like one of those hard to quantify athletes. Iowa is a good place to be recruiting dl too I bet atleast 1 guy renegs on his agreement.
