The most important person is the person who has the contain responsibilities. Force the returner into coverage. When the Bombers were at their best on SP, they had guys who were disciplined and did not chase tackles but stuck to their jobs.6 points

Your name says it all....StrevyISaBEAST. I can't prove it, but I think the decision to move on from Brown was decided last year when Strevy came to town and watch a game. I think that there was more going on then that. Discussions with the Bombers started imo. That being said, Love Dru and think he will be successful. Unfortunately, our QB room is just a little too talented right now to let him have his chance here. Zach still has a couple good years left, and Dru's time is now.4 points

Oh so you’re one of those guys who thinks the only thing that matters on special teams is who makes the tackle. You know not every position on a cover team is “guy whose primary job is make every tackle”, right? You know there are no tackles to be made on plays where our guys are helping block for OUR returner, right?4 points -

No right or wrong move really. Either you go young or you try to see if we can win a gc this year or next. Personally, strevy plus brown would be the best case scenario for going younger. I’m a believer in brown. But making that decision and possibly not making a gc because you went young at qb is a hard hard pill to swallow. I get why the mafia went this direction. And having stevy is a great option for now and the future. We’ve hedged our bets really well. Trying to sell season ticket and a gc next year with out Zach would be real hard.2 points

There was a reason for that. When football started to transition to the "soccer style" kickers in the late 60's, they had no coaches anywhere who knew how to coach these new type of kickers. It took until the first wave of new kickers retired in the mid to late 70's & started coaching themselves that the kicking game slowly began to improve. A lot of these kickers still had to play other positions. Ted Gerela was the CFL's first soccer style kicker but was also a linebacker for the Lions when he broke into the league in 1967/68. Guys used to practice alone with no coaching. They ended up practicing their mistakes & really not improving as kickers as no one was there to help them. Considering everything they went thru, these pioneers actually did okay. Walt McKee was the Bombers first soccer style kicker in 1972 & he was a career 52% kicker. That was actually considered pretty good back then. The change was on as the kickers revolutionized the position. There are no more straight on kickers anymore. Today, kids as young as 10 years of age can sign up for kicking camps everywhere, It's no wonder that great kickers now have stats percentages in the mid to high 80's.2 points -

This year an entire 1st round of talent is going to be gone to the NFL. It's like every draft starts with 2nd round talent now outside of maybe the top 1 or 2 picks. Don't forget the 4 stripes....but could you imagine being a Leafs fan? No one has ever seen them win a cup on a color TV.1 point

Edmundson is not the player he used to be. Guy is a defensive black hole now and offers no offence. He does add toughness, but it is at the expense of the scoreboard. His play has badly dropped off from a few years ago. He doesn't crack our starting lineup imo. If we got him as a veteran insurance policy, I suppose that would be OK but not to step in and play.1 point -

Need to look at the stats before making comments,, Hallet led team in st tackles. ly, clements had 6 ,and only 4 the previous yr. Ford In his rookie season had 10 st tackles. Exume is good but was also cut by mtrl midseason1 point

our best teams guys consistantly last year from what I saw was Kelly..Cole...Cadwalder...Bolo....Gauthier....I exclude Exume from his work after getting here because he is gone now and is a under appreciated big loss And yup...draft strategy failed last several drafts now for quality team depth, and we need to shift the mindset.....I have said before you can make anyone a good teams player....you cant make a good teams guy a useful rotational guy/back-up If we keep all these picks this yr, focus should be on the best players on the board and not just these one trick pony guys, as it has severly depleted our quality of depth... I don't see Murphy amounting to much here, or really offering us much either other than a guy to stand on the sidelines....and not see a rep for the next several yrs if e keep him...now looking back at last few seasons mybe he does have a purpose as we have shown a penchant for dressing guys who didnt even need thier shoes tied up1 point

Watching games from back in the day, it's astonishing the big hits that a QB was expected to absorb ... especially a guy like Hufnagel who played from the pocket a lot. Like, check this play out, Huffer gets obliterated after he throws a gorgeous deep pass to Tuttle. No penalty, he bounces right back up. Those guys were tough back then. It's so awesome to have access to these old games, you can really see how the game has changed over the years. It seems like it was around 2004-2005 when the CFL started making rules to try to keep quarterbacks alive.1 point -

Could be a chance to draft rotational players with upside in the front 6 in the cis and global draft this year. If we come out of those any thing close to 16/19 we will be in great shape. If it’s like our last couple drafts we are gonna be scrounging for ni talent. How bout that 19 draft in retrospect though. Desjarlais, kongbo, Brady, Eli, Hallett, and exume. Great draft in general, couple misses but you’d be hard pressed to do better even with hindsight.1 point

The idea of BOLO (big, US college credentials) was much greater than the reality - 25 receptions in two seasons. I watched Jeremy Murphy a lot in RSEQ as my son plays there, and he is definitely a CFL rotational receiver. I predict he will put up better numbers, run better routes, and make tougher catches than BOLO. Not saying he'll be a star, but Murphy will be better than BOLO.1 point -

To be fair we did some funky stuff with kick cover scheme last year. I think that’ll change and our cover team will look much better. Especially if we keep the right cover guys on the roster. Yep. Also a big problem is we have hardly any back ups with upside. Thomas is passed it, but most of those guys are bottom 5 nis on the roster. Guys who can play teams and packages but are serious liabilities doing more. Save for Dobson, and Kramdi/ford we could improve on every single one of those back ups. We will start 1 ni db again I’m sure. Should be ford. Also likely that we will keep Eli at C, and start Dobson. Dobson as a back up plays guard. Eli can back up c and g. Hopefully Eli takes kolas job and kola is the back up c/g. in which case I’d hope for a young ol with upside who can replace kola but that isn’t likely this year. Also *lawson and *Kramdi. We lack candidates for next man up. If Brady or Demski go down we are screwed. Also if Bryant wj, or ba, go down we are screwed. This year needs to see us go younger and develop a new wave of impact players. Up for targeted guys or down for established league guys I’m hoping we do some thing.1 point -
Curious about that....maybe crafty Kyle swings that....could see it atually as we def need to add some top line peices in the pipeline1 point

Benson, Kelly above account for 19 of 21 starters, 2 of which Jones and Kramdl may also become starters if needed on the bubble: Smeckle, Beeksma, Charboneau Hallet, Macdougall Of the 19 starters I would say we could use upgrades on Bennet, and Thomas, With 10 draft picks we are in decent shape1 point -

That's fine if you think that my post is dumb, HCB. I have a similar opinion of being mandated to take an untested, unproven, known bad side effects, brand new technology and calling it the science. Or insisting that isn't blind faith. Either way, you've the freedom to take as many of them as you please. But you don't have the freedom to use the word effective and expect to not hear some pretty obvious, elephant-in-the-room type of questions.1 point -

Looks like "safe & effective" is finally dead as a trope. From the NCI commissioners report (Sept 15): “It is important to understand that the COVID-19 vaccines were never approved under the traditional approval process for drugs in Canada,” “Under the alternative authorization process, the necessity to establish the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines through an objective manner appears to have been set aside.” “This cannot be an appropriate standard for approving a drug that the Government intends to administer to the entire population. It is difficult to conceive of a less-scientific test for drug authorization than that found in the Interim Order.” “The result was that while chief medical officers across the country repeatedly assured Canadians that the COVID-19 vaccines were ‘safe and effective’—the general Canadian population had no understanding that their authorization process had not required objective proof of safety nor efficacy.” “We all know there's a new vaccine that's coming around the corner, [a] new mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. And there's essentially no evidence for it, there's been no clinical trial done in human beings showing that it benefits people, there's been no clinical trial showing that it is a safe product for people. And not only that, but then there are a lot of red flags.” https://nationalcitizensinquiry.ca/commissioners-report/1 point -
