  1. I've got a shiny nickel for each of you who finally decides to shut the **** up about last years cup.

  2. He didn't win this battle. I'm not sure who could have really covered this better. Ford looks ready for a big season.

  3. Osh 4 wins away from 100. Pretty impressive. Only grant has more and believe it’s 102 wins. Quietly O’Shea is becoming the goat of bomber coaches.

  5. If Brady doesn’t fumble in the red zone….. If Holm doesn’t miss the assignment forcing Bighill into a “second too late” back-up coverage over the middle on that Montreal TD…… If Collaros makes the proper check down read to Demski on the goal line instead of underthrowing Lawler by 6 inches for a crushing end zone pick….. If Willie J doesn’t overrun contain on Fajardo on 2nd and 19 and make a sack instead of a 15 yard scramble to set up a manageable 3rd and 4 on the last drive…… If that 3rd down deep pass gets knocked away…. If that game winning TD pass is 6 inches lower and hits the turf or 6 inches higher and gets knocked away….. If……. That’s why I will disagree with the “roster management” narrative peddled by some around here by and large. Our roster that has been put together has been good enough to go to 4 straight Grey Cups, something no team has done in over 40 years. In the end it wasn’t the player A over player B dressing in the 42nd, 43rd or 44th place on the roster costing us the game, it was mistakes by the stars who are no-brainers to be on the roster and who carried the team all year who just did not get it done on that day. Sports…….

  8. That’s thoughtful and you’re not wrong about any of those instances. My roster management thing is more like: If our interior DL was able to push the pocket, we would have won that cup against Montreal by 10+, making those other what-ifs irrelevant.

  10. He stuck with him really well but how do you stop a well placed ball with Lawler on the other end?

  11. Nah, don't- I'd probably just drop it... Like the Bombers did in last years Grey Cup

  13. hope to god we dont start 11...no reason to...and why make us a weaker squad than need be? Houston pooched the winning TD toss...poor recognition and it cost us...Rose makes that play

  14. So sounds like Ford and McGee at the corner spots for now. Curious to see how both do. Ford looked good in that one game he started and McGee has a good college resume and did have a year on our pr to learn.

  15. I'd rather think of it as if we don't blitz every other play against max protection we would have won.

  17. They'll prolly watch the NFL kickoffs this season to help determine if they want to go that route. These are the changes for the upcoming season: The league also announced it was ratifying other rule changes for 2024 directly relating to low blocks and decisions made by the command centre. Low blocks have been adjusted to further define the actions of a backfield player delivering a low block. Backfield players may block a defensive player low who is lined up across, from, or outside of the offensive tackle at the snap if the block occurs in the legal low block zone. The league also removed the requirement for the backfield player to be within the legal low block zone at the snap to make the call easier to officiate, while also heightening player safety by limiting who can be legally blocked low. No yards has now been added to the list of penalties that can automatically be picked up by the command centre if called incorrectly by on-field officials. Replay officials can only become involved when a clear mistake has been made. Tripping the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage has also been added to the list of penalties that the command centre can assist on and is now challengeable by a coach. Coaches are allowed to strategically use a timeout to provide the command centre with more time to automatically review a play that is not challengeable, though only one timeout can be used after the three-minute warning in the fourth quarter. Coaches still only have access to two timeouts per game. https://3downnation.com/2024/05/17/cfl-kickoff-rules-unchanged-in-2024-subcommittee-formed-to-examine-future-changes/

  19. Yep. Hope Schoen is just a bit tight or some thing, not that his injury from last year is still lingering.

  21. Sorry but if you think nothing has changed in terms of preventing head injuries in contact sports you must have been in a coma for the past 30 years.

  22. The guardian design will be replaced. Something more aerodynamic to allow for quicker acceleration, sensor rings to collapse during contact, and advantage to defenders during a field goal and punts. This French prototype could be popular.

  25. yeah...Kramdi started last yr...but shouldnt have,,,,and shouldnt this yr either....we should be starting Woli...NO....Demski....3 olineman and Lawson as defacto designated starters on each side of ball....really anything after that should not happen unless a NI blows any import at his spot right out of the water...and Can't see that happening...That being said I would like to see an 8th on defence...Hopefu;;y it's Ford as he is our next best Canadian there and would not hburt us in the slightest at boundary corner or SAM and has most upside of any NI we currently have here....That way we can freely rotate in an extra DI which would greatly improve our front.....more than 8 is a waste and making us a weaker starting 24

  26. If O'Shea passes Grant in playoff wins then undoubtedly he would be the top coach in Bomber history. Bud has 15 playoff wins and Mike sits at 8. You'd think a few Grey Cups would be included in those additional wins.
    2 points
  27. He started because ford wasn’t here. Kramdi isnt going any where, and he’s the ideal guy to have as the back up db and package guy.

  28. The O going 2 and out constantly didn’t help either. People like to blame the D but our O was ****. Collaros sucked. If we gonna revisit the cup game I think you need to point more fingers at collaros and the O who pretty much did nothing for 50 minutes. lol people still pretending kramdi won’t be starting after starting last year and signing a new 3 year deal. Seriously?

  29. He did good I mean lawler is that kind of guy. Must be insane to be a db in this camp lol. the tug on the jersey could do with out though. the 3 ol, demski, woli, brady, Lawson that’s a strong 7. Plus ford. Lawson is a beast and played great last year. He should be the starter and see the most dt snaps. But we will Jake that all up I’m sure.

  31. I can agree with that belief too, although maybe it would have made no difference even if we got more push. Maybe it would have made all the difference in the world (and a compelling argument can be made). Whether the lack of push was coaching schemes, bad rotation implementation due to bad roster decisions leaving no usable back-ups, or just plain we got outplayed by the opposition that day, who can say with certainty? Maybe a different roster deployment would have made the difference, maybe not. It’s opinion, not fact. And maybe all the what ifs on plays I suggested would have made no difference (i.e.Brady doesn’t fumble in the red zone but we still get nothing because something else like a gassed field goal happens, no one knows for sure). I just see what actually happened in plays and can say “that tangibly cost us something” as opposed to “not dressing that guy was clearly the wrong decision” as the more accurate explanation for why we lost that day. Again, just my opinion.

  32. I don’t think we will go 10. I think we will stay imp at lber, It’s also possible that if neuf misses a game we could go 3 imp ol. Personally I’d start ford with Kramdi backing up pending tc performances, Lawson, woli, Demski, the 3 no ok unless neuf can’t go. If Brady can’t go I’d flip to an imp rb. Which would likely balance out to 8 Canadian starters pending injury availability. That would likely see Cole at S if ba can’t go wil other wise. Kyrie goes to mac, if ba can’t go then the best imp lber goes at wil. It’ll be tough any way you cut it with either a big drop off starting soo many nis or having soo many guys in new positions. We will likely need to spend more time in camp and pre season developing and trying to make the best of several imps rather than weeding out who stays and who goes. We are going to need imp rookie starter production immediately in the regular season. Which means those rookies need lots of reps in the first half of the pre season games and with the starters in camp. The cuts likely won’t be the hard work this tc.

  33. I really hope we play the best players we possibly can under the ratio rules. Whether that is 7 NATS or 10. Couldn't care less how many we start if they are our best option. If they are not that's when we need to start counting how many we are using.

  34. I'm thinking just precautionary

  35. Also, Ford is not a raw rookie. He was in our system for a year before leaving. He should be way ahead of the rookie curve.

  36. Cant wait. Likely wont go near the place for a month though. Cant even imagine how insane the lines are going to be.

  37. I’m not worried about that with ford. In general with the cfl a slow db developmental path is full tc full year on pr then 2nd tc. After that 2nd tc dbs should be ready. You seldom see imp dbs get more time than that. And having sat in the nfl id have the same expectations for ford as any imp. if he isn’t up to it, he probably wouldn’t ever make it as a starter but with his tool set and passport could be a backup and teams guy still. But I think he’ll be good. Loved what he did in that late season game. We really have a super athletic group of NIs. From Dobson dunking, to ford to the new crop of guys.

  39. Pro sports is fully invested in denying the science of brain injuries, wouldn't want the gravy train to fly off the track. There really is no solution to preventing concussions without drastically altering the physical nature of the game. Lawyers are kept busy amping up the protection of the wealthy owners, they need to make sure players sign a detailed waiver before they take the field to keep the cash flowing.
    2 points
  40. It feels like football at large is throwing random crap at the wall to deal with concussion issues. Rather than having a well thought out multi pronged approach with defined success criteria. If it was a revenue concern you know they would have a much better plan and process implemented. Direct impacts cause concussions for sure. But, change of direction hits and whip effects cause a lot too. Guardian helmets, the new gen helmets, next gen and beyond next gen helmets are all mitigation on a fraction of the causes. Not prevention. It doesn’t matter if you have the 1 piece shoulder pads and helmet or a perfect absorbing piece of future gear. Moving at high speed then being forcefully stopped quickly is terrible on the brain and body. No piece of gear is going to stop your brain sloshing in your skull. What is needed, to start, is a change to the culture of bringing guys down. Technique changes reinforced by rule changes from the grass level on up. Better gear is always good to have, better self protection when it comes to absorbing hits and going to the ground is as big.

  42. Bailey and Scoen were useless too, and not even paid attention to by the Al's...Demski was not far behind as well, but once the Al's saw when he got the ball he was nowhere near his game breaking self...they played off and totally focused on Lawler and BO....Just sucks that we should be attacking our 5th win in a row if not for coaching failing us

  45. The last time I would have seen it was in the 1980’s when you had to roster 11 starting Canadians including special teams IIRC. The standard make-up was 5 Canadians on the o-line, starting fullback, two slot backs, and on defence the safety and the nose tackle, for 10 there, plus the kicker/punter (one doing dual work, or both being Canadian). And the Bombers once had an extra Canadian start with House/Poplawski at slot, the 5 OL (Walby, Bonk, Bastaja, Moors, Nemeth, and later Bauer, Black, Molle and Rodehuskers), Kehoe, Huklack or Hudson at fullback, Bennett, Flagel, or Allen at safety and Mikawod at nose tackle. Add Cameron/Kennerd and we had 12. The extra starter was Darryl Sampson at halfback, as his mom was Jamaican I believe so he actually qualified as a Canadian starter, so we could roster 13 Canadian starters.

  46. And I agree there. We can count up a half dozen plays in that game, and any one of them flips the other way, and we very well see a much happier outcome. So many games can come down to those half dozen plays as a strong factor in switching the outcome. The agony and ecstasy of sport.

  50. No, that's exactly what it addresses. When that sudden impact happens, the guardian cap absorbs the impact and slows the impact down. I was briefed on this with the Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage. I sat there while experts in the field explained all these mitigating factors. I'm not arguing with someone who's worried about how it "looks".
