  2. Lawler is taking a pay cut even if he puts up 2000 yards this year that window for 300k receivers is closed

  3. Albert Johnson was no slouch either...and put up solid reciever numbers one yr as well I recall

  4. Last year we had the most trouble protecting Collaros, and under thrown deep balls are a classic sign of the pocket being pushed back onto the qb. When you throw deep against a straight pressure or are hit when throwing the ball tends to sail. That’s why we saw soo many pics going back to the early mafia days we had soo many dominant import pocket pushing nose tackles.

  5. Me and my girl friend went to go pick up our season tickets today, really fun event at the stadium, I bit the bullet and bought a chris streveler jersey. It was the first jersey I purchased since I got a Charles Robert’s one for Christmas when I was 10 years old lol! I was torn on who to get, but I figured no matter what Streveler’s cult hero status as a Bomber will never fade so it was a safe bet.

  6. Are they though? It was 3-0 bombers when the 2nd string guys started getting subbed out. Riders 2nd and 3rd stringers better than the Bombers 3rd and 4th stringers? Sure.

  7. I think Lawler is going to have a monster year if he and Zach stay healthy....

Yeah the narrative has changed in the last 2 yrs tho...people and organizations are overly sensitive now...I think he is done...the backlash may be too much in this day

  10. My week preseason week 1 observations: The Riders 1st string is better than our 2nd string. The Stamps 1st string is way better than BC's 2nd string. Edmonton can still greatly outplay their opponents only to give the game away via turn overs. Hammy can still outplay their opponents only to give the game away via penalties. All radio guys are homers & the Riders have the worst radio play by play by far. Berrière can play like a derrière and get cut even though we waited 4 years for him. Montreal's 3rd string QB, Alexander, looked more ready to start than Arbuckle or Brown. Toronto has a QB problem. Not blitzing in preseason is a thing of the past. The punt halo is still somewhere between 3 & 7 yards. Offensive offside is still between 1 and 3 yards.

  11. Didn’t lawler put up like 1000 yards in half the games? Playing half the games as the next guy. That’s pretty good.

  12. lol. Streaming is the future. It’s pre season. The bombers only draw like half their normal sell out also. We will have less than 20k at our pre season game. Guaranteed. Announced more but in the stadium will be way less. It’s just pre season.

  13. Riders barely won with the LOLks in their usual form. MBT was a hot mess which was fun to watch. The crowing and strutting coming from The Gap over the next couple weeks will be hilarious... Evergreen post that could be from 2019 or today ...

  14. You're wrong, he got separation just fine. Collaros often under throws deep balls. Has since 2019

  15. 901 in 12 games. It was good, I just know he has another gear. It gets tricky because him, Schoen and Demski are three of the four highest paid receivers in the CFL. Depending on how this season goes there’s going to have to be some tough conversations of where to allocate the money.

  16. They would still be quarters. Each one is still 25% (one quarter) of the overall time, regardless if that's an hour or 40 minutes.

  17. Also Calgary is an embarrassment to the league. Both the city and the team itself. It's no wonder they can't draw flies with that medieval dungeon they call a stadium...

  21. Absurdly strong. Didn’t look it, but nearly impossible to bring down.

  22. Grant has to be the best ever. Stokes was good but as each generation is better than the last, I'm not sure anyone has been as good as Grant.

  27. It's hard to call what the CFL offers "streaming." It's more like "watch on potato quality video through a browser."

  28. The way the Argonauts organization treated the whole Kelly situation is derserving karma. I hope that team rots into the ground this year.

  29. Never liked teams relying on receivers making circus catches to win games, it basically means the guy isn't really that open and the QB is risking possession throwing to a well covered receiver. For Zach, Lawler can be a bit of a crutch, huck it up with the confidence Lawler will always come down with it, doesn't always work. Schoen doesn't have that ability in his tool bag so Zach doesn't risk throwing him any jump balls.

  33. Yeah I don’t think longer games would be better at all. If any thing I’d rather see shorter pre season games and more of them.

  35. I don’t know the medical science behind why this may or may not have some injury risk issues tied to it, but if it doesn’t, it seems like a really good idea

I think you’re overestimating how much people care. Inside the front office, in the stands, whatever. Tyreek Hill is a serial wife/child abuser, nobody cares. Adrian Peterson beat his kid, nobody cared. Hell, let’s just call it what it is locally - Kenny Lawler likes to mix his alcohol with his car keys and nobody here cares. The ability to produce trumps all in sports.

  37. Somebody on the Riders forum suggested extending exhibition games to 5 or 6 Q's, I think this would be a reasonable way to give new players extra playing time without adding travel costs or much extra expense. Add another intermission after 60 minutes and play again for an extra 30 minutes. No single player needs to play more than 30 mins. so it should be manageable from a personnel perspective. As for the fans in attendance as long as they realize it's a casual affair they can come and go as they wish.

  39. Stokes was on grants level in terms of explosive gains, but no where near his consistent ability to gain yards, especially the tough hard yards. Stokes was a much better offensive player though. 2500 rec yards 10 TDS.

  40. Both...their projected online was very Swiss cheese as usual too

  41. Yeah i'd say Stokes was Grant level, but we havent had many other great ones over the years.

  43. Don't think it's an issue. There's been over 50 cuts and replacements across the league since they started camps. They are paying costs to bring guys here, send them home, bring in next guy. Bring them all in for a week ahead of main camp.

  44. Lawrence was awful for us. Darby was terrible last season. It's not that hard to see when a guy has 200 yards of passing go right through him in a game. I have no qualms with our current staff and their ability to evaluate DB's. The only guys I think they were too soft on were Rose and Alexander. They both haven't been good players at all since the 21 Grey Cup. Not sure why Alexander was brought back.

  47. I don't know if you listen to O'Shea's press conferences closely enough to comprehend the message he continually puts out. Here are a few constants. 1. He relates to and likes intelligent hard working blue collar players. (Kramdi, Jake Thomas, Woli, Schoen, Neufeld) 2. He likes players who are willing to teach, as the coaches do not have enough time in the day to deal with slow learners, if you're dumb your chances of making the team are not good, no matter the physical talent. 3. He rewards commitment and longevity as any union boss would, he's also pro-Canadian. 4. He respects the veterans in the room to protect their culture and choose their teammates wisely, assholes are not tolerated.
