  1. So I generally remember Bombers by their best moments rather than their worst -- I remember Michael Bishop throwing laser bombs all day against the Als and I remember Ritchie Hall absolutely owning the Lions last year, and I remember Justin Goltz throwing that crazy TD to Clarence Denmark at the Skydome .... and I remember Lapo's Grey Cup 2019 game where he had the Ticats chasing smoke all day. Lapo had some frustrating moments in blue but he had his high points too.

  2. To be honest I think you are so conditioned to be critical at this point you're being unreasonable. We got 2 ends, we got 2 DTs as backups with enough athletic ability to swing outside and take some snaps there. Not going to cripple the team for one game. Last year we gave snaps to Bennett and Jackson who couldn't accomplish ****. This year is not the same IMO just because they actually kept some athletic types on the DL.

  3. Murphy has not been talked about nearly enough. His actions are every bit as bad as Kelly's. In this day and age you can not sweep this under the rug and fire people bringing this up to you.

  6. I expect we'll see a lot of Cole and Adams even if they aren't listed as starters.

  9. Occasionally Matty will spotlight a little piece of the game that teaches me something. But mostly I enjoy him because I live his spirit and enthusiasm for the game, and he generally doesn't put lipstick on any pigs. The best TSN color guy for in game analysis seems to be Forde ... generally he's worth listening to. Would love to see Lapo try color, see if he can do his crisp explaining in the few seconds he's got between plays....

  10. I look at the roster and don't really see anyone who is complete dead weight so that's an improvement from last season.

  11. Yeah for sure. As I've said, the "starting" thing is a red herring. All teams declare is: The game roster, the QB's, the 4 DI's (to me 2 of ours are obvious...Castillo and Mitchell, I'd guess Ayers then it's between 1 DL or Bridges) and how many Canadians on each side of the ball (7 across O and D...doesn't matter if you "start 10" this doesn't change).

  15. Yeah, I was never a huge fan of Lapo but you’ve gotta be fair, he never had the support from up top when he was HC. The timing of his firing was bullshit. The team had to go on the road for a month to start the season. Lousy QB room and not much other offensive talent to make up for it. Garbage drafting. I’d say he got a raw deal from that management group.

  16. Yeah lapos bug weakness as a coach is his offensive playcalling. Dude knows football, he just doesn't know when to go for it and when to play it safe. Down by 2 scores with little time left is the best lapo. Up by 2 scores with half a game left is worst lapo.

  17. I have never seen anything but praise for Lapo's tv work on this site, even from the hardest lapo detractors. Dude has a gift for explaining the game that's so obvious that even mbb can't fight about it.

  18. You’re right. Plop was limited as an oc, but is excellent on tv. I’d love to see him talk cfl offence each week in a show with blm.

  19. Warning before reading: The following opinion may not be a popular one here. When it comes to best media segments and analysis that I've seen in recent memory, I have 2 give Lapo's coach's playbook as something I both thoroughly enjoyed and thought he broke down extremely well so even the average fan could understand. There I brought his name up, I am prepared for the hate on to begin.

  20. Yeah that we know of yet. I don't think it's a bad thing to have some cover for basically all of the rookies in Game 1. The intensity level of the preseason games was incredibly low. There were maybe a dozen CFL players in each game. There will be a sharp learning curve for almost everyone. Like the rookie DB's having some cover in the form of each other and some vets should be for the better in this game and the long run. They are going to see a lot of **** that they probably have barely seen on film to this point. Bonds has at least played a couple NFL games and USFL, Bridges played some arena ball. Same goes for the receivers.

  21. I guess Lemon is allowed to play while his suspension is appealed? Apparently it’s the Als right tackle’s first game, so hopefully Willie and Haba (and anyone else playing end despite being a tackle) can give him a warm welcome

  22. Sit Thomas, start Fox and Adams on the inside, rotate them with Woods and Schmekel, and bring Hubert onto the roster as the 3rd/emergency DE. Really seems like a no brainer given the fact we have a surplus of Canadian starters. Sit Hubert and bring Thomas back on when Garbutt is healthy.

  23. Ok having seen the depth chart now... 100% that is MOS trolling and "starting" 10 Canadians because he can. All those guys will take reps.
    4 points
  24. I guess my point is that Jackson was a useless body... at least the guys on the roster now aren't useless regardless of the starter/backup distinction. Guys will take meaningful reps, contribute on special teams, whatever. Jackson played but didn't do **** not even on teams.

  25. lol ppl shitting on O’Shea and praising Lapo. The ultimate troll move.

  26. Lapo is in the mix with people like Jim Daley as a head coach. His play not to lose decision making style results in a lot of 4-14 type seasons. And he's never developed a QB. He needs an O'Shea or Ken Miller to make sure he is aggressive.

  28. Whats really sad is that less than 10 NI starters is a pleasant surprise. Ho-hum, mos still too good to use the ratio to it's fullest, not surprised. We should have used it on BA, and then used him to play a guy like Cole more. If Gauthier and thomas are on the field at the same time, we are gonna get gauged especially in the run game. Not remotely close to an optimal roster no matter what you think of the new guys. Not the worse roster we've seen. Hoping for heavy rotation of some guys. Likes: BA starting and not hallett. I hope he can get back to his former self. If not, I bet he doesn't finish the year here. 7 DL on the roster including Adams, woods, and fox. The three best DTs. I like that adams is listed as an end, hopefully he will get lots of reps all over the DL. Schmekel is on the roster. What a difference a year makes, he earned this shot. I hope he plays well. A back up imp db who can cover. A rookie imp lber on the roster. In general the roster is balanced much better than basically all of last year. We aren't 1 injury away from a guy playing a position he doesn't have a chance at. Dislikes: Adams as a back up, deserves to start hope he is top 3 in reps on the DL. Thomas starting. Ick. Gauthier starting. Should not be on the field with thomas at the same time. Not worried about him, but ayers/cole have tons more upside. Cole backing up. He may well be better than starters at 3 positions on our D. Hope he gets lots of reps. still a good 1 NI starter too many. Kola over eli. No surprise not even sure how healthy ready Eli is though. Lofton. Ick, I hope he out performs every thing I've seen to date. Especially in pass pro. If he's tipping again I might lose some hair. The state of our KR. Mainly worried about how PR will be fielded. Hoping for the best, pretty sure it won't be the worst we've seen the last 2 years though. None of the imp DEs who played well. Sucks garbutt got injured, and the others got cut. Hope we bring atleast one of the cuts back to the PR in the future. Sheahan. Ick, only thing reliable about him is he will shank a few punts each game giving you a 10-20 yard net in field position.

  29. things I don't like... Thomas, Gauthier and Kramdi listed as starters... things I do like... the number of DL and LB players we have rostered... I am hoping to see a lot of rotation and lots of players getting on the field... I'm really hoping the Thomas/Schmekel is not a set spot on the depth chart... because Cgy basically couldn't run with their starters against Woods/Fox in the middle to start the game last week

  30. This just in. Players that have been on the team for 2 weeks are not listed as the "starters" over the vets. It's the first game. This is not at all unexpected. It is exciting to see Woods and Adams draw in on the D-Line. Shows we are committed to more of a rotation this year.

  31. lol I will just say this because at the end of the day, I’m just excited to go watch meaningful football tomorrow and the games are played between the lines not on the depth charts. If we had a genuine open training camp with spots to be won and the best we could do at MLB, knowing Bighill was injured all along, is Shayne Gauthier … and the best we could do at DT was Jake Thomas … just fire our scouts I guess now, I’m assuming we’ll see a lot of Woods. And Cole. Probably not a lot of Ayers. But still … sheesh .. come on

  32. LaPo 16-28 Osh 23-31 (but he was also 16-28 through the same number of games) Glenn was not the QB in 2011. He got hurt in 2007 when Doug Berry was the head coach.

  33. Bartender is Garrett Marino, Mazoli is scared to leave his bar stool even to go to the washroom, people call him a lush but it's really not his fault, poor guy.

  34. No he didn't lol. His record heading into 2019 was 45-45. That's not remotely similar!

  36. The funny thing is O'Shea, in the couple of times I have talked to him, is very engaging and easy to talk to.

  37. No but being pro-Canadian should not mean favoring less talented players.

  38. As a guy who has never really been a fan of Kramdi, I'm OK with him starting. He's not who I'd have out there but he's nowhere near the biggest liability on the field. I look at this depth chart and just see a giant hole right up the middle of our defence. Same old same old.

  39. tenure shouldnt trump talent....nor should passport if you have no ratio issues....weak

  40. I don’t really want to get into this argument because it opens up a whole other can of worms BUT the team really shouldn’t be giving out “recognition” in the depth chart. The presumption is that these players are going to start the game and take a strong share of the snaps, the teams owe it to fans to be accurate and not purposely misleading with these depth charts since the CFL wants to throw gambling in everyone’s face at every turn these days. If they’re just giving Thomas and Gauthier lifetime achievement awards and a honorary first snap, that’s also a problem that needs to be addressed. What teams should be forced to disclose prior to kickoff (not today) is their ratio declaration on each side of the ball.

  41. 100 percent.....if the timing was switched, and Osh had Lapo's tenure...Lapo had Osh....be a different story...That being said lapo would have had to put in place quality co-ordinators to make things work and let go of the micro managing...Osh had next to no success when he had to hire crap co-ordinators....wasn't until quality ones were in place that the ball started rolling...I will always say a HC is only as good as the staff around him, as they are the guys who create the system the team plays within...HC obvioulsy can have some say and over rule things, but then thats the slippery slope you get on...and trouble brews In all honesty if a HC has the right support...they will be succesful unless they are just a complete moron and dictator who wants to control everything...

  42. Lapo didn't get the rope Osh did...and had misfortune of working under piss poor management who didn't know how to create yet alone build a sustained winner and organization Osh got that luxury and was damn lucky as his tenure in about the same amount of time was horrible...and had multiple bone headed moments Any coach with half a brain...and given the time can create a winner if given the tools and the upper management Our success and sustained ability to maintain comes from above...facts...it's up to the HC whoever he is here to foster it

  43. He is a better head coach than he is oc if you ask me.
    3 points
  44. I’m captain of the plop the oc sucks. But even as a leader he is better. I actually thought he would be solid as a hc if he could keep his hands off the offence in game.

  45. I agree...they should give him a segment every telecast...I'd even go as far as a weekly or monthly show with content like that

  48. My question is, for the relatively menial amount she sued for why didn’t they pay it right away and avoid much of this? And now that it’s setttled will we see punishment for the front office? I’m happy for her receiving what ever she got. I hope she manages to find more sports work in the future if she chooses.
