  1. That being said, proper line depth in that game might have led to a win despite bad qb play

  2. And, yet, they can't stop him. Augustine was a waste, but I'm happy BO is back. Other GMs were prepared to pay him more.

  3. No argument. By every measure we have been the worst team in the CFL so far.

  4. We’re just going along like every other week. This is a regular week for us,” said head coach Mike O’Shea near the end of a media session stacked with ‘what’s wrong with the Bombers?’ themed questions. “We certainly don’t want guys gripping their sticks too tight, searching for things they don’t need to search for. “In here we feel good; we know what’s going on.” Like really???? I beg to differ that they...moreso him have no clue what's going on....and maybe they shopuld change what and how they have been doing things...as we have looked worse than the Elks of late....

  5. yeah....At could have been cast better for sure all the upside guys...went waltzing out the door and we kept next to none....Several should have been rostered some how...some could/should have pushed some vets out the door...and nobody is developing...case in point right now...no ends whatsoever available...or DT's....if guys go down and are on the IR....smart management would be to have guys brought in to replace on the PR...if that means dropping some guys who you have no injury/depth issues with...so be it...Our habit of late of playing guys out of position is hurting us...Just cause a guy 'can" adequately average at best....doesnt mean he should...except in Osh's eyes

  6. The one thing that really stands out (from the highlights at least) is how clean a pocket Streveler had for the most part. Couture and Desjarlais were huge pieces of our offensive line and we have never even come close to adequately replacing that talent. Also, that return by Grant demonstrates everything a returner should be. Fearless. Decisive. Speed to burn.

  8. They ran that again in the Grey Cup the next year and he hit a dime in between 2 defenders. Watch the TD to J Peterman at 3:03, and the pass to Augustine at 4:47 (which is the same play they ran to Harris) The accuracy’s there. The arm strength is there. Mobility’s obviously there. The only thing he has left to prove is consistent decision-making in the pocket, which he hasn’t had the opportunity to do.

  9. The Coaches Show is what it is. If you’re looking for week-to-week stuff it’s pretty awful. Just for balance, cause I feel like I’ve been crapping on a lot lately, and I really do love the Bombers- I have heard MOS on there tell a couple Ron Lancaster stories that had me legit lol. One about Lancaster smoking in the clubhouse all the time, and it making Orlando Steinhauer freak out. It’s better when callers ask him questions about his playing career, or old CFL history stuff. Guy’s choices have been driving us nuts lately, but he does truly love the game.

  10. I don’t understand how we can be at the start of week 3, the guy played 6 days before week 1 and was in shape. If he’s recovered hth could he fall out of shape in barely 2 weeks. That’s messed up even for an excuse. @Atomic thanks for posting a transcript of the coaches show. I couldn’t stand or listen and won’t again.

  14. The thing is Augustine should have been gone immediately after. When Brady was on his old deal you can make some sense of it, but how can you justify paying over 100 k for a back up Canadian running back? Especially when we don’t need a Canadian there if Brady goes down. That one I can pin on Walters although I’m sure the coaching staff get a say and I feel like Augustine is one of O’Sheas guys.

  15. They gave all the reps to a Canadian in the 2nd game who they cut. A guy that would actually make a reasonable tandem with Augustine to fill in if Oliviera is down.

  17. To me a cooked Neufeld is still better than a center that simply isn’t good enough to be playing pro football. Not that either should be anything more than backups at this point. Ideally Eli and Wallace in and Kolo/Neufeld out. I’ll eat my own hat if that actually happens with this coaching staff though.

  18. DL suffer high ankle sprains at a very high rate though, as well as pulled hammies for the big guys. IF you watch his college punts he gets distance but doesn't extend well and looks stiff. Punters, and kickers, do an exceptional amount of work to keep their legs loose enough to kick consistently. Adding that work load to a nose tackle who is already playing the edge, and had some wind issues, isn't a great move.

  19. Great idea to have a 300 lb guy playing around punting when we’re already down 3 guys in that position group.

  20. It would give us some much needed depth too. Between Fox, Haba, Garbutt & Lawson, we are running very low on starting caliber DL.

  22. It’s really hard to say how much falls on Walter’s directly. I do feel that some moves like cutting Jackson when mos rostered him soo much is a Walter’s fights back move. But, we are quickly getting to the point where it will be on Walter’s for not doing his job being mos boss and preventing stupid moves. The value in Brady is entirely in the fact he’s a mop candidate Canadian skill position player. Plus the local boy and off the field hero. Could we find a great rb for cheap in the nfl cuts? Yes easily. One that would be a beast in pass pro, excellent pass catcher, great runner who can execute our system and grind out yardage? Yes but not as easy. And that player will be gone after a year for a major payday and or nfl shot. Plus you lose the passport. Brady was the toughest decision this off season. Right or wrong I don’t fault Walter’s. we had much easier decisions to make like with biggie and made the wrong ones.

  23. Basically in a nutshell....ytou have more or less nailed it...we are being out coached for a lack of a better term in a bad way...In most aspects....and along with that goes poor roster management, and really bad PR use And well.....the results are glaringly obvious...Our upper echelon guys...who we rode to knubs...aren't upper echelon across the board anymore either....compoinding it...which circles right back to poor roster management, and then back to poor coaching trying to make square pegs fit into the former round holes....and it's not working.... after 2021....thefe already should have been some...so 2022 and especially 2023...there would have been the heir apparents already developed too many...and again that falls back on the coaching...or lack there of...time to start actually being a hard nosed coach....and right your ship....not happening tho...excuses...smug grins...non answers...they are all number ones....player X is the best...why be worried....well...we worried ya turd!! thing is...generally the HC will ask for...or say he wants.....thatbeing said..Walter's has tonow stop being the compliant buddy...and be the hard nosed Boss I'm sure many were just driving up the price with no real intent...knowing we wanted him..Brady wanted to be here...so push up the price knowing thje ripple effect...we should have just said...here's 190k.....balls in your court..we would have survived if he walked Paying Kramdi tho 70k over the miniumum...stupid when you can get the same or better from an entry level player....but bringing back Osh favs..Kramdi (dont gt me wrong solid backup/teams) Kolo..Thomas...BA...Biggie.....Not a hard and serious talk with ZC (who our coach thinks is best and cant fail) about taking a reduction, or else we cant provide him with the pieces to complete the roster is crippling us....Gauthier and JA can be lumped in there too..Rosery at minimum could give us more than enough backup ability...and possible upside....

  24. Great point. Honestly that's what worries me most - we can't pin all of this on Osh. A lot of it for sure, in terms of player deployment, roster decisions. But, Walters is the boss. A lot of very questionable decisions. Paying two Cdn RB's so much money as many of pointed out. I know we're obliged to support BO because he's a Winnipeger, but good teams do not overpay RB's anymore. Especially one who is not really a game breaker. He's a reliable, 4-5 yard ball control RB. I don't think opposing DC's are in fear of BO lighting them up. NFL teams rarely overpay RB's. So many high profile ones are released. There's such an abundance of American RB's available I would never pay big bucks for one. I'd constantly be recruiting for new RB's, keep the prices reasonable. The other thing is as much as Osh's loyalty to certain players is an issue, the simple solution would be for Walters to have cut, traded, or not resigned some of these players. He's the boss, he could have told Osh that's the direction we're going. Like Thomas for sure, even Biggie I would have moved on from.

  25. We knew after the Cup there had to be changes.....and I said at the time 'deep ones'.....That's what true dynastys do ....to stay relevant at least ....We look like we're headed for uncharted waters now.....something we haven't seen in the last few years....We have parted ways with a few who were 'long in the tooth'....Jeffcoat being one of them, but guys like Thomas still hanging around paint a different picture....The amount of talent brought in was actually very good, in a lot of spots, but not retaining more than we did is looking like we wanted to remain status quo for the most part....Certainly there's the sms to consider and was the reason for a lot of the departures BUT we didn't go deep enough in a few positions....I think bringing in Streve was the right move considering the apparent decline of our starter....otherwise we remained status quo ...There's the few draft pics that look heartening but other than that we sure didn't do anything exciting....I hope when the friggin' injury bug buggers off we can gain some respectability.....otherwise I don't like what I'm seeing

  26. So I have quite a few thoughts and I haven’t been able to get them all out because I’ve been busy but I want to try to relay them the best I can and in no particular order but here it goes.. -So what exactly are we doing with Chris Streveler? There must have been conversation between the coaching staff and Chris prior to him being signed here. There’s absolutely no way he’s going to be happy being a glorified Dakota Prukop, in fact it’s such a miss managed role for him, he’s fast and athletic but he’s actually not even as good as Dakota is in the short yardage. He spent the last four years in the NFL and we have no way to use him. First and goal at the 7 why don’t you put him in and allow him to either pass, scramble or hand the ball off… 2nd and 1, no pass attempt to keep them honest? This goes into my next point. - I’m critical on Zach as any one has been and I won’t go too much into his play because that’s been discussed however what hasn’t been a topic of conversation is the offense X’s and O’s and that falls on Buck, over the years Zach has made a living on these slow developing plays where he gets a lot of time to throw from the pocket and he’ll step up or roll out and hit an open guy but that started to become a problem last season because Zach started to get hit more, our o-line no longer gives Zach the time to do that, this season it’s even worse, one year older for Stanley, Paddy and the guys, and losing Hardrick, you would think it’s time to start changing the offense, without Brady the slow developing fake hand off was essentially a suicide play because we couldn’t even be bothered to keep the defence honsest by using Augustine even though he’s no Brady he’s at least capable . -Another point regarding the coaching staff is the horrid play from the ST. Horrible and no imagination. When’s the last time we ran a fake? Our coverage team sucked last year, it sucks again, our punting sucked last year, it sucks again. When Grant was injured last year we had no return game, this season we have no return game and there doesn’t seem to be an urgency to make any changes here. -and this really ties into my last point the lack of urgency to make changes. We simply haven’t been good enough, and the cracks were starting to show after 2022 but we continue to move at a snails pace in order to make changes why is Mitchell still fielding punts? Why hasn’t there been any changes to the o-line after Zachs been beat up over the last two weeks, why only dress 6 Dline men when Walters brought in a lot of competition at training camp, why continue to pay 360 k for two running backs when at the very least your back up could be an American making 40 k, it’s either arrogance, ignorance or both I see every other team continuing to make changes to get the best roster possible, it’s down right sad that the only changes happen when there’s an injury and we have to almost hope for one in order for change to occur .

  28. Walter's is technically Osh boss......HC obviously has a say on who he would like brought back....type of guy brought in...etc...etc....Now were some of these bring backs to appease a whining coach...and giving him one last chance to try and implement his vision....or was it Walter's saying "here some guys I want yhou to use"...I think it more the former...and maybe some disconnect there?...dunno...but it needs to be adressed and fixed...and fast It's still early enough to cut a swath with the off you go knife and let the new blood grow into, and develop through the yr....if a guy has "it" and can play...it's very obvious and doesnt take a yr of learning like many here like to think as to support the poor roster management The key thing tho...guys need to get that chance to play, and not be blocked out by older guys....and favorite guys who skill is inferior to what we brought in.....this is where we are failing miserably since end of 2021 agreed...and if one needs to be replaced and someone new brought in to re-vitalize things...It's Osh all day every day....Many will squack and stomp thier lil feet in defiance....but it's true...

  29. I’m wondering this too. On one side, Walters and the scouts have brought in some visibly quality players that didn’t/haven’t seen the field, either enough or at all, for reasons we’ve all talked about. Eli in particular I don’t think was brought in to sit on the bench for 4 years. Same with Miles Fox last year. I’ll bet Osh sits Wallace for 3 years too. I would speculate a measure of frustration in the front office. Flip side, I mean, some of the deals Walters made with veteran players appear to be just as clueless as we accuse MOS of being.

  30. they need to let him actually play as a QB and use his legs when things bresk down, or nothing is there.....Dude can make al the throws, and let him do that...well he will get better and better. The bring him in for 100 percent run plays....ain't fooling nobody and is going to get him hurt....Let him use the actual playbook...and have teams play in a way where they have to respect the possibility of him taking off...things will open right up.....With ZC...there no threat of that at all...and recievers are being basically smothered, and they just can rush him relentlessly with 4 guys

  31. If he gets lands on a fumble in the endzone, you win the whole season. Everyone else needs to bow out. Done.

  32. They need to get Smith into the game this week at RB. It’s pretty simple really, just put Clercius on the field when JA comes off. Just infuriating to hear at this point, whether he truly believes it or not. I swear MOS is trolling this board a lot of the time.

  33. He isn’t that guy. Good change of pace back, really just a first down back. Out side of own carry Augustine averaged barely 2 yards per carry. You can’t run bully ball when you’re constantly in 2nd and 7 or 8. Augustine can’t and doesn’t punish defenders physically. He can gash yardage and get into the secondary.

  37. It's just maddening to me that they hardly gave any reps to a runningback that was going to play running back and streveler got 1 quarter and the rest of the QB reps in preseason went to guys who were either straight up cut or not likely to ever see any real playing time in the regular season. In what universe does that make any sense at all? And people wonder why the offense looks like garbage out of the gate.

  39. I wonder if smith was a move made by walters. Mos for what ever reason really likes Mitchell. But we are insanely thin at kr and rb. Maybe mos isnt going to roster him unless he has to. Idk tin foil hat stuff. It makes no sense to leave smith off the AR. Augustine is already banged up, if he goes down we have a fb who isn’t really to be a fb and a sts fb left. Or our qb2, or wr2. Not good options for full time in a game. My expectations for this weeks ar are low, and still I think I’ll be disappointed.

  40. yet he played Thomas....Biggie...BA...Collaros....Bo....Demski.....and a few others without a game rep in pre-seson...Smith played all of pre-seson.....but wont be game shape?....being younger and in better shape than any of them....yeah ok....what a joke exactly!...it's the easiest add of any new body...plus he is an actual RB....who would make a world of difference even in sharing reps...Osh is literally clue;ess and the anchor pulling this team back under Osh won't make a change based on skill...he's shown that now for how long?..buckle up for a long season of bafoonery would have made all the difference....4 guys took every snap basically...1 of tose guys is a lower tier skill guy at the moment...but has upside....another is bottom tier...with zero upside and can only play one style...and not well see my previous comment...that didnt apply to his favorites and long in the tooth vets...Osh is becoming a sad joke...time to move on

  46. O'Shea waxes poetic about the days when a starter would play all four special teams as well. Reminds us of the great Chip Cox. Mike: It was my call to go 6 DL and it bit us in the butt a little bit. We had to move a guy off to get Biggie on so it was the right call but.. DT: Last year you brought only 6 DL 8 times. And you went 8-0 in those games! Barry's on the line. Actually it's Harry. He's a bomber fan, even when Mike played for the Toronto Argonauts. Harry: If Brady comes back from his knee injury the Bombers will be fine. Mike: Well thanks Harry but I think we'll be good no matter what.

  47. With the news Huebert is on the AR, thanks @WinnipegGordo, I suspect its Jefferson/Woods/Thomas/Adams starting on the Dline with Schemekel+Fayad+Huebert as the back ups. I mean 7 is better than 6 but those three Canadians in heavy rotation is not impressive. Since somebody mentioned Houston being asked about on the Coaches Show, that was a loss that doesn't bother me a bit. As @DTonOB said, you're going to attack him versus Roberson. I'd say the same would be true if he was in Montreal with Ento or Hamilton with Peters and I likely could keep going.

  48. Look at Bill Belichek. He's always treated the media & fans like they were **** & the questions they asked never worth his time. His post game pressers were always condescending. Whether the Patriots won or lost, he just came across as this miserable human being. He got away with it when he was winning but when he couldn't win after Brady these gatherings weren't funny anymore. To be a buylly or condescending to the public, a coach or player can only get away with it when they win. When these arrogant coaches lose, they're nothing but a piece of meat who get ground up into a nothing burger as Belichek found out. If O'Shea continues the same schtick, then the same thing will happen to him if he can't right the ship.
