  1. Patrice Rene is a guy I really wish we had not given up on so quickly

  2. Osh had all sorts of excuses about whether Smith was in game shape, but is fine to Weekend at Bernie's Biggie at every opportunity.

  3. It’s so disappointing that we all know how this story has to end and all we can do is wait for it to happen

  4. 1000% agree. There’s so much we can do to help with protection and run blocking. In addition to what you said, maybe crack the de’s a few times. Might slow down the rush a bit if they’re worried about being decleated. I thought in the Ottawa game we moved Collaros around more, to mixed results, but it was better than standing in the pocket. Also, our use of Strevy has sucked so far. If anything, we’re using him less than we did Prukop last year. I don’t understand why we aren’t using him more, especially given our struggles to move the ball.

  5. Saying that in public is fine. Take all the heat keep it away from the players. It's not words at this point that matter, it's actions.

  7. I disagree about the 4/5 years. It's more like 7/8. This team has been at the very least exciting to watch for almost a decade. The W/L record since 2016 can't be matched by anyone else. We've had a good long run of success outside of just GC wins and losses.

  8. I talked a bit about it with Ed Tait after the game and he basically told me I was an idiot and I need to wait and see. Politely and respectfully, but the belief seems to be that this will be turned around just because.

  10. Better question, are they actually going to use Augustine this week? Cause based on usage they'd have been better off starting Eli at rb.

  14. That’s the biggest concern of all, though. There seems to be a clear divide on the philosophy of the front office vs the philosophy of the head coach

  15. Yeah, bit of protection improvement for sure. It seems like buck is waiting for our current stuff to work in order to progress, but it isn’t just gonna start working. He’s got to create the success and use schemes and guys not wait to counter. He’s being too tentative like a bad amateur fighter. Waiting soo long to land the knock out counter that he loses the fight. We’ve used some better plays but way too infrequently, and not when we need it. As long as Brady is out first down should either have demski motioning or in the back field, both qbs, or a good timing hot route queued up. And we need to go hurry up after converting with Strevy, who needs to throw the ball. Especially when he comes on in 2nd and one or short.

  16. I don’t know about the rest of you but I, for one, quite enjoy being constantly reminded by Goalie that I am just a fan who knows nothing and has no opinion worth anything. It’s nice, because it eliminates the confusion I have when I sometimes log on here and think I’m in the offensive gameplan meeting. thanks Goalie!

  17. If only so simple...and logical....and basically the smart roster move....if only...... Unless......your a Coach's boy....Old tenured vet that had value 3....4 yrs ago, or a less skilled Canadian with tenure who's also Daddy's boi....Then that goes out the window and you are given your place on the roster so what your say Ed...is he's better??? Cause our punter right now is not very good/consistent/or able to do more than 1 thing

  18. do we know it was a bad one?....from my understanding was just something minor enough to not be able to play....and 3 weeks later...he good to go...How is thatany different than Biggie....BO...Demski and looking back...how any different than the Grey Cup with 4 guys who were completely unable to perform...yet dressed...and played. Listening to his June 18th presser....I have little hope of much changing unless it's mandated from above

  19. At the risk of injecting a note of restraint into this thread, we need to take a deep breath and step back. I have expressed many of the same concerns but I am not yet convinced to bring out the tar and feathers at this point. Walters and Co. have built a good team and unless they have undergone prefrontal lobotomies, they ought to have the abilities to fix this. In the Freep today, Pat Neufeld owned that the o-line has not done their jobs but that it was the lack of coordination, unfamiliarity with each other and poor communication, but also that it was fixable. If that is true, (and he comes across as intelligent) that would likely fix at least 67% of the problems here. This two-game debacle may has been a blessing in disguise in that it exposed chronic problems and ought to galvanize remedies. Better now than in late October. Lets revisit this after the BC game.

  21. I appreciate this perspective but I think what’s being glossed over is that the TALENT is what got us there. The primary issue now is that we don’t seem to be valuing talent over everything. Our whole philosophy on how we get to these winning records seems to be slowly going out the window. I know this is going to be a bit of an unfair argument but in the past two years, can anyone name me any coaching decisions that O’Shea has made that benefited us? Or have we mostly just been going at it with a set it and forget it type approach to the game and letting the chips fall where they may? Obviously I don’t mean specific schemes, but have we challenged at a huge moment? Pulled off a fake? Made a midweek roster change that paid dividends? Even the scripted first drive that we used to dominate on seems to have gone by the wayside. It’s become fairly clear to me the players and their talent is what propped us up and O’Shea seems content to let that continue, even though it’s not good enough anymore. Make the adjustments. Make unpopular decisions. Feel the game and coach within it. Where has ANY of that been?

  22. I think some of the issues can be chalked up to offseason rust as well. I don't think Collaros totally fell off a cliff and sucks now. They just should have played him in the damn preseason. But they didn't so now he's gotta get caught up, and I believe he will. Same goes for Neufeld, BA, and Bighill... I don't think any of them are totally done, but they needed time to get up to speed. I think this team is gonna get there eventually and end up competing for first in the division. But some questionable decisions are not making it any easier, I would agree with that. On the positive side of things I am encouraged by the look of some of our young talent that did make the team. Terrell Bonds, Devin Adams, Clercius, Lord Keric, these guys look pretty good. I think Tyrell Ford is gonna be a stud by the end of the season if we stick with him. And let's be serious, they are going to get the ball in Streveler's hands and he's going to do some awesome stuff. It's coming.

  23. You can't use Grey cup rings as the only metric of success- that is unrealistic and borderline dishonest. By every other metric- we have had an enormous amount of success these past 4 (5) years. literally one play away in each Grey cup from winning. Don't you get started on "wellifwerostered9dlineandsatthesealandschoenandcutjakethomasandwipethatsmugfaceoffoshblahblahblahblahwewouldhave4greycupsyadayadayadayada" - we know, we have heard it a 1000 times and most would agree with that. But. Despite all the cracks and so forth- it was a great deal of success that we fans have witnessed over the past 4 (5) years. That glosses over any need for wholesale changes- because there were winning. Just posting this for some perspective.

  24. The injuries are the biggest concern for me right now, but a home W where Collaros has good protection from the OL and gets 300 yards distributed to our playmakers doesn’t seem too far-fetched, I agree

  25. seems to be some issue/disconnect...seems this yr Walter's actually seen we needed the infusion of new blood...and they brought in a lot...and a lot got discarded...again.....He also brought back some guys he prob shouldnt have to effectively remove them from the equation....now did Osh insist he had to have them...put up a big stink?...Walter's relented?...did he do it bugrudgingly with caveat of if new guys better...old guys cut...And Osh went against that?...we will likely never know....but a shift in whats going on is needed...Another embarrassing loss...at home....with a poor roster......that has to be the tipping point

  26. I think past success isnt a reason to cling on it for future success.....They leaned on it since second cup win....and it's not worked...has been degrading ever since to the point now where we "could" be teetering to bottom of the West level ineptitude....things eveolve and change....you see it all the time especially in football. I also look at it as if maybe...past success was a result of the benefit of a lot of top end talent...in its prime that kinda coached /policed itself......and very well for that matter....before that we were awful and the HC was on his way out the door...had a foot out.....fast forward 3 yrs post dominance....older team that is not was it was...some guys we still leaning on that should have been gone last yr already.....similar ussues and problems creeping in like pre 2019 run...HC seemingly clueless and not having answers....be it on the field or with media.....hmmmmm....Maybe he isn't the be all end all and a lot of people seem to wanna believe,,,as we as a team have been out-coached...alot of late (last several years) and he still is relying on his "room" to maintain their process and it will right itself.....something to think about.....he definately not showing above average coaching and decision makong skills

    The Trade Thread

LA literally just gave him away for a bag of pucks (I'm not trying to disrespect DK) but also literally saved themselves some cash for other things they need. If he struggles yet again based on the size of his contract and the production expectations that come a long with that contract, at what point can he no longer use the 'it's a new team, a new system, new surroundings for myself and my family, I'm not getting regular linemates to get used to etc etc) to explain his struggles and buy some patience from the Capitals organization? The Capitals are rolling the dice more than the Kings are here.

  28. Like I said, he's more patient than we as fans are. Which ultimately I think is a good thing, but he's not stupid. Truthfully unthinkable walters had a poor year all around last hear and didn't seem engaged. I suspect he's not going to sit on his hands so much this year.

  30. Classic matty. I love the guy but he’s fried lol. The beauty of football is you can actually do a lot. Roll out, boot leg, slide protection, play 6 ol and or two backs/wr to have an extra blocker on each side, pinch the ol to reduce gaps, use passing concepts that have blitz busters, are easier and faster to read, generally better first down play calls too. We aren’t committed or productive enough with the run on first down, and we need for Collaros not to be in 2nd and long a lot or throwing on first and ten. So use pre snap motion and run the ball with Demski/strevy more and more one/two step drop timing routes.

  31. Kinda off topic. But something I laughed at during the Ott game, and something that is kinda telling on how some perceive this team....a short screen or run outside the tackles was stopped for a short gain/loss....and Dunigan went on and on about how Bighill was back and was going to make an impact. During his rant, TSN showed the replay and Biggie completely whiffed on the tackle and I think it was Kramdi who actually made the tackle.

  32. I can see why they would think they'll get it turned around. You gotta believe in yourself and your plan. Time will tell. I just hope it's not so late that the season is lost.

  34. It’s such a no brainer…. The kick and punt returning has sucked and you have a guy that is better at it, and he had a return TD in the preseason….. PLUS he’s a RB, which is an obvious weak spot on the roster right now. If he’s healthy, there’s absolutely no reason to not put him in the lineup. None.

  35. This is it, Bombers as a whole are more patient that fans. And given the number of wins and a couple close plays here and there from 4 time champs (regardless of everything being said on here) is a very easy sell for management to give more rope to people.

  36. I wonder why they wouldn't bring Rosery back. Dress him instead of one of the special teamers or the 7th OL or MCI. Then you have a guy that's pretty complimentary to Augustine, more ability in pass game. Well in fairness he was injured bad enough two weeks ago that they cut him. Maybe he's not talking about cardio but the actual injury affecting his readiness to play a game.

  37. In my opinion, Walters can only step in once it is abundantly clear that O'Shea has lost the plot. A good manager lets his people do the job he's paying them to do, and would only step in if his subordinate is floundering and doesn't seem able to get his/her footing and move forward. O'Shea, in my view, isn't there yet. We went to the Cup last year, only two head coaches in the league can say that. So if Walters brought in talent but O'Shea believes that the people he's selected are the best team that they can put forward, then let him do his job. If by midseason we're at still struggling, then it would be fair to sit him down and ask him what has gone wrong. Right now he can say that despite the questionable pre-season prep, injuries and Zac needing to "recalibrate" are the main reasons for the slow start. As we move forward, those excuses will fall away. At that point, Walters can call him in and give him the "What are you thinking?" speech.

  38. I also bet that even tho Chris Smith is ready to go, and could/should take reps at RB to ease the load, and is the better returner...we won't see him this week....

  39. all the guys mentioned tho had legit competition and beter talent in camp....Osh tho did chose to keep them unfortunately but not surprisingly....but again....you are correct....He was supplied with the players.....not giving him the opportunity to keep them may have been the better avenue to take...100 percent

  40. I've complained about MOS but as far as I know he didn't hold a gun to Walters head and force him to sign Thomas, Biggie, Alexander, Wilson, Kolo, Augustine....

  41. yup...was in total agreement....and like you said...It's time for Walter's to be the boss....and in turn for Osh to start actually coaching again

  42. That does look really cool great to see some of that trickle down from the nfl. I’d love it if we could customize that stuff. Like I don’t need the name tags but the other stuff is sweet. I’d also kill for wide field angles like the teams get for film study. You’re right though, 0% confidence they pull it off.
