  1. I'm of the opinion that I don't care if you've been around the game 20 years or 2 days .. everyone should have a voice. It doesn't matter if you know the X's and O's, this is a place for *all* fans to talk about and support the team.

  2. Not much to complain about with this weeks roster. That’s about the best they could do with who is here and all the injuries Agree the number of rookies in the secondary is pretty scary

  3. I've seen this twice going back to the 60's. The downside of a veteran football team that suddenly loses more than they won. Dominant for years & then in one off season becoming the door mats in just one season. The first was the end of the Bomber of the Bomber dynasty of the 50's & early 60's. Head Coach Bud Grant knew it was over & moved on to a better opportunity in Minnesota. Took his best assistant coach in Johnny Michaels with him. Left his worse (Joe Zaleski) to take his place as Head Coach. Within a season or two we were lucky to win 3 football games. We were bottom feeders for 4 seasons until Don Jonas got here. The other was a few years later, we lost Mack herron, Jim Thorpe & other players & went from Grey Cup contenders to bottom feeders again even faster. Grey Cup contenders in 1972 & falling to last place with an anchor attached in 1973. Of course, it doesn't mean it'll happen again but the same signs are there. I just hope I'm wrong. When you step off the cliff, the fall is very hard & fast.

  4. The difference between people who know how to watch a game to understand what’s happening, and regular viewing is gigantic. Most people try to follow the ball and miss 90% of the play. Even if you know the X’s and O’s, relative position play etc if you’ve never been taught how to watch film you see a different game. On top of that you have things like understanding positions from a competitive stand point. This is where observations like tipping plays, kick stepping too far too fast etc come in. You also have understanding from the x/o level you get the difference between Dbs coming over to try and make up plays vs being beaten. Football has the most strategic nuance of any main stream sport. A little bit of knowledge goes soo far. Guys like mike booch jbr and a couple others clearly have high level understanding of these various areas. Some people don’t like what they hear because it doesn’t match what they see and they can’t counter the points on merit so they attack the posters. And when I see posters attacking those people it just tells me all I need to know about those posters. They love the bandy about not a real fans, or hot hand fallacy etc. as if what happened here 4 and 5 years ago is more important than what we see on the field today. Maybe Pepperidge farms is ed tait! 🤣 Wheatfall sure looked like a beast in a few catches last week. If Schoen is healthy he should have a good chance to shine.

  5. On a more positive note, looking forward to seeing what Wheatfall does on Friday. Also hoping we see Smith as a returner.

  6. I always find it suspect when a new account emerges and all they do is rip on posters here. Its makes me think burner account.

  8. I have nothing to complain about with this. Smith in for Mitchell is good, Griffin coming on instead of McGhee is good (I think they both are meh but Griffin more versatile at least), Woods being added is good. Lots to take in but I think this is the best we could do with what’s available to us

  9. I’ve seen it twice in my lifetime too. The 1995 Bombers fell off a cliff hard after 15ish or so winning seasons. They’d kept Matt Dunnigan instead of Danny Mac 2 years prior, but Dunnigan bolted for a new American team, and the Cal Murphy Bombers never recovered. They had a losing record and a one and done playoff appearance. The next year they brought in an aging Kent Austin to try and right the ship but it was too late, a 68-7 playoff loss cost Cal Murphy his job. The second time was in 2004, same story as now. Aging former MOP QB, most of the impact players on the team over 30. Only difference is back then we kept getting outbid for our own FAs/our guys coming back from the NFL. We wouldn’t have retained Schoen or Brady (or anybody) in those years. They couldn’t/didn’t want to pay Geroy Simon and Arland Bruce coming back from the NFL and let Brian Clark go to the stamps, among other poor outcomes. Had some younger talent in TC but Ritchie hated rookies, which was his downfall. He kept guys like Wickman, McGriggs, Elowonibi way too long. At least we got a couple cups out of this run before the leadership decided this place is Brigadoon in the off-season.

  13. Agree....They days of a heavy hitting safety are long gone....and Holm has next to no physicality at HB and the range he has and ability to cover from distance would love to see him at safety...he be a perfect guy for that and I could see him with Deqouy in Mtl level picks...if not more As for the DC for once no real issue...for what we have on the PR is bestwe can do....Griffin is fine for Nichols as he has experience..Bonds is legit...and once Nichols is good to go would love to see a Bonds..Nichols...Griffin...Ford backfield with Holmboy at safety and BA a DI who can swing in for reps at safety...dime...wherever Woulda liked to see Johnson tho get a shot at WR...And if anything a switch at center...just to see....BO on tho if not 100 percent is just dumb...especially now with Smith on the roster....let him heal and give another guy a shot to show something

  17. Oh god not this again. Just saying, some people can watch and follow football obsessively for the better part of their lives and form a decently educated opinion on the subject in question.. A good bunch of us were around the game at an above rudimentary level, or were taught the game by people who were. The point that “we’re just fans” has been made. Every time I read it on here again, I’m writing another poem about Kolo.

  18. Eli was one of the best centres in all of d1. He was a legit first round nfl prospect. Dobson is fully competent in snapping. Also, the pistol is heavily used which is not terrible demanding on the centre for snapping.

  19. He also gets pissed when he's sacked, so...

  20. After seeing the roster, I like the whole lineup besides the center. Hey diddle diddle Kolo’s too little And the twist confuses him too Mike O’Shea smirked Cause the punter was fun What will become of the Blue?

  21. Kolas has sucked for a couple seasons now. This isn't a case of a few games. I remember telling noeller last season that I bet kola starts the year but before the end of the season Eli has the job. So this isn't a this year thing.

  22. If Brady isn't ready to start why is he on the roster? If Augustine isn't good enough to be the rb without Oliveira why was he the backup rb? Get a plan!

  23. Not knowing the extent of his injury, why not rehab him till he's as close to 100% as possible before dressing him? Or maybe he is and they just want to bring him back slowly (i.e., game speed conditioning)?

  24. Yeah ,Eli should be starting center.

  25. Would still prefer to see some changes on the OL but apart from that I agree.

  26. Bonds should be set it and forget it, Griffin has CFL starts under his belt and Bridges *should* be okay. Not as worried as I’d normally be here. I trust our process in the secondary.

  27. That’s exactly why I broke down one games worth of tackle info last year between awe and biggie. awe had like 10 tackles and biggie 6, but biggies average depth of tackle was 3 yards and awe’s was damn near 10. The expectant yards per play on biggies stops were all more than the stamps actual yardage by a good 3. And we were gaining almost double our average against awe. even that, gain after first contact on the tackler is a huge factor, all those are higher effort to track and require manual tracking though. Most of these analytics are just using the score box. which just isn’t enough to evaluate a bunch of positions.

  28. Agreed. I attended a coaches clinic in Texas years ago that illustrated the art of breaking down film, and I had no idea at that point just how poorly I had been doing it previously. lol. I fairness to almost everybody here, we are all trying to be film warriors from broadcast film and that is difficult to do zoomed in for TV.

  29. I'll second that...and Wilaon and Mitchell in their respective spots doing and showing nothing...with Thomas eating 70 percent or more of the DT reps

  32. Shows how much you know, I personally think Kramdi is way better than “Booch” gives him credit for. My personal crutch is blaming Bighill for everything. HE STINKS!

  33. x2. I think Lord Keric is gonna be a forum favourite. I’m intrigued to see Adams and Woods on the field at the same time too.

  35. 2021....is now basically 4 seasons ago now...things change...we havn't.....resting on laurels...or past success.....gets you...well where we are teetering right now....the encouraging part minor tweeaks to lineup...minor changes in philosophy and things will be all right....sad part...we have a HC who is resisting doing it

  39. Plus you need some veteran presence and Biggie is a good dude on and off the field so you need a couple of those guys around still. Can’t just go 25 new guys. Maybe Biggie Stan and Willy can be our “grizzled vets” but then u got demski and Brady also, the hometown local stars. It can work. We got a good base without a neufeld or Alexander or Kyrie even. Jake etc. Alexander and kyrie should be easy to replace with a linebacker and DB. Neufeld and Jake, gonna have to sign a guy prob cuz those are starter types currently

  44. Perfectly fine to voice your opinion as a fan. But the arrogance of two dudes named “Booch” and “Mike” on these boards is hilarious. bombers have some real problems, O’Shea has some real flaws. They’ve also won two grey cups and four straight west titles, unlike two dudes named “Booch” and “Mike”.

  45. I appreciate this perspective but I think what’s being glossed over is that the TALENT is what got us there. The primary issue now is that we don’t seem to be valuing talent over everything. Our whole philosophy on how we get to these winning records seems to be slowly going out the window. I know this is going to be a bit of an unfair argument but in the past two years, can anyone name me any coaching decisions that O’Shea has made that benefited us? Or have we mostly just been going at it with a set it and forget it type approach to the game and letting the chips fall where they may? Obviously I don’t mean specific schemes, but have we challenged at a huge moment? Pulled off a fake? Made a midweek roster change that paid dividends? Even the scripted first drive that we used to dominate on seems to have gone by the wayside. It’s become fairly clear to me the players and their talent is what propped us up and O’Shea seems content to let that continue, even though it’s not good enough anymore. Make the adjustments. Make unpopular decisions. Feel the game and coach within it. Where has ANY of that been?

  46. It’s such a no brainer…. The kick and punt returning has sucked and you have a guy that is better at it, and he had a return TD in the preseason….. PLUS he’s a RB, which is an obvious weak spot on the roster right now. If he’s healthy, there’s absolutely no reason to not put him in the lineup. None.

  47. I wonder why they wouldn't bring Rosery back. Dress him instead of one of the special teamers or the 7th OL or MCI. Then you have a guy that's pretty complimentary to Augustine, more ability in pass game. Well in fairness he was injured bad enough two weeks ago that they cut him. Maybe he's not talking about cardio but the actual injury affecting his readiness to play a game.
