  1. Eli would be the biggest upgrade, since Wallace is raw and eli can help neuf. Also, few dts will want to play 20-30 snaps in 0 tech when facing eli. So we would see more friendly alignments as well. However, as the guy who is frequently not head up on a dt neuf has been brutal. Which is the easier role. My biggest concern with just swapping C is how much worse neuf will likely get. He fights injuries ever year and continues to play but is significantly reduced by late season. Right now he’s as fresh as can be and still immobile and struggling a lot. The question isn’t if with neuf now it’s when. And it will be sooner rather than later. It could be advantageous to make the one switch, work Wallace in more reps with the heavy set, then start Wallace in a few weeks while neuf goes to 6th ol. A lot of change in a short period is hard for the ol.

  2. not only that... when is the last time BA actually tackled a guy... and not just lowered his shoulder only to have the opponent bounce off him and continue on.

  3. This week Lapo breaks down the Montreal offensive smackdown against Ottawa. That all-24 view is so dope, it shows so much more than the regular broadcast. @4:00 it's funny how ineffective the Redblacks undisguised blitz is. @7:15 the tight end allows the slot receiver to attack the cornerback with a waggle. I've been watching CFL for decades and I had no idea. So obvious. @9:23 every time I see a stack formation from now on I'm gonna watch to see if the db banjos it right.

  4. This idea that because kola stepped in and was OK as an emergency injury replacement so therefore he should keep the starting job is without a doubt the single biggest roster issue O'Shea has. Like before the vaccine stuff Eli was ahead of gray on the depth chart. You're telling me he's worse than that now? No ******* way. Guy is a road grader every time he comes in so why the **** are we using a weakling centre?

  5. The data from Pro Football Focus seems to backup the sentiment about Loften. Despite giving up that sack on the first passing play of the game he was out top ranked offensive lineman last week. We don't know his actual grade but he was the only one not to make the list of lineman with failing grades among our starters. In limited action Tui was elite! Highlighted in red are the lineman who have a season average below 60 which is a failing grade. This pretty much all lines up with the general evaluation from those of us on the message board. 8. WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (NO CHANGE) LT Stanley Bryant LG Liam Dobson C Chris Kolankowski RG Patrick Neufeld RT Eric Lofton • Despite teams' struggles above them, the Blue Bombers failed to climb the rankings. Four of their five starters failed to make a positive impact last week, with Bryant (58.5), Dobson (57.5), Kolankowski (55.0) and Neufeld (53.8) posting sub-59.0 PFF overall grades. • The Bombers' top-performing offensive lineman was sixth man Asotui Eli. He played 19 snaps last week, earning an 88.1 overall grade and an 81.7 run-blocking grade.

  6. I think Neuf would be better if he had only 1 problematic guy next to him.

  10. https://3downnation.com/2024/06/25/edmonton-qb-mcleod-bethel-thompson-rips-cfl-for-short-weeks-citing-player-safety-concerns/ mbt is a nut, but I totally agree. Short weeks between games and mid week games are the worst in soo many ways. 1 game friday, one Saturday, 2 Sunday and games on holiday long weekends. Design schedules to balance around recovery time and optimizing views/attendance. Scheduling conflicts are primarily with Toronto, who gets no fans any way and what Montreal? Make it work cfl.

  11. I haven't kept up with the CFL much with the Oilers playoff run, so I am doing a lot of catching up now. MBT's viking ancestors continue to plague him.

  13. Holm has missed his assignments a ton this yr as well.....He looks to have regressed a bit.....Ford has gotten better each game....and has all the athletic tools....just needs the reps...you dont progress and get better in practice

  14. Which makes sense. Clercius looks smooth and loaded with potential but he’s far from polished. Brings a lot with out running routes.

  16. No doubt, but his mobility on fresh legs is scary bad. He should be captaining that side and he just isn’t. I think at best you hide one ol. It’s harder when it’s a tackle but you can do it. We have the guys to fix c and rg we don’t at Rt imo. I’ll add that with that change our next issue would be 6th ol and heavy set. Kola can’t be the edge guy. Double switching eli to edge and kola to C is a bad idea and risks snap issues. Personally I’d look for an ni ol for the bench, and work with schmekel and hubert on the goal line package.

  18. Anytime you see Holm in high gear chasing down some receiver with a 5 yd. lead you have to wonder if Ford interpreted his assignment correctly.

  21. We’ve struggled with assignments on that side. Don’t switch well etc. we’ve also been using karamoko as a dime on that side on second downs and he’s been real bad, ba as well. With ford you can see the potential, needs a good bit of polishing still. Not worried about him in specific, and happy that it looks like karamoko is coming off the ar. Ba is the big concern in the secondary rn.

  25. I was just in that area, I didn't hear the explosion but I was at the Wayback Burger on that end waiting on an order when I saw the posts on the Transcona group page, I could see the smoke from the bus stop, I let my parents know right away that I was nowhere near that incident and went home as soon as my bus arrived

  26. No doubt that whole side is a mess. That said, holm hasn’t looked good this year either. Ba hasn’t shown any leadership in sorting it out either.

  27. Yeah, I was thinking thats a possibility. I just wasnt aware he was still kicking around.

  28. I’d sure say so. It’s not like the old days where the back up ni wr was basically a position less teams guy. Wr is probably the deepest wealthiest ni position in the league today.

I mean...why would a team who's that good bother hiring him? We have all the necessary pieces...so let's hire an incompetent ass kisser.

  34. I defended the way the Bombers TC. However, hindsight has me clearly convinced that I was wrong and it was indeed a fiasco. No other explanation for the complete lack of cohesiveness we have seen thus far. Everything is out of sync, and only a portion of that falls to roster changes.

  36. There's a huge issue with next man up/roles being defined by seniority for sure. There's a bigger issue with evaluation. Hard to tell if if it's personnel, coaching or both. It's not like our cuts are going onto other teams or even other leagues and lighting it up. The receiver competition this season was demoralizing. Like we have 20 guys in camp and the best you break camp with are Wilson and Mitchell? Then you see guys on BC, Hamilton, Montreal, Calgary tearing it up. There's also the issue of evaluating our own guys. Like how did they watch Alexander last year and think that's a guy to bring back as opposed to a rookie DB using that little bit of extra money on say Grant instead of a rookie returner? Grant is definitely losing a step but it's also a step down from being arguably the greatest CFL returner of all time, still a good player and still far better, more reliable than anyone else we've seen in the role the past two seasons. Bighill has basically been trash for two full seasons. Could use that money to chase after CFL free agents in their prime while we are a prime, winning destination.

  37. Exactly. There was nothing wrong with signing Jake Thomas, he’s still a productive-ish player on a limited snap count. But when he plays 90% of the defensive snaps, that’s the coaching staff. There’s nothing wrong with bringing in Kyrie Wilson to compete for a spot. There’s nothing wrong with bringing in Brandon Alexander to compete for a spot. But when they don’t actually have to compete in training camp and earn their spots, that’s the coaching staff. There’s nothing wrong with signing Eric Lofton to be a veteran presence to provide stability if he is the best option. But when he gets handed the spot from day one and hasn’t proven to be all that good? Coaching staff is who looks at that. I don’t love the choices Walters made this off-season with who to keep and who to let go (I would’ve absolutely kept Bailey and Grant over Wilson and BA, personally - and I would’ve obviously moved on from Bighill), there’s nothing flawed about not completely blowing up your veteran presence all at once. But the way we are managing it now? Not good

  38. In the playoffs he is. Ffs Florida won the presidents trophy last year without Maurice then tkachuk forced his way there also. It’s not like he went From the jets to some rebuilding team.

  39. He also defended Thomas's age by pointing out that Bryant is good. I wish people would ask questions that might give even the slightest chance of O'Shea revealing something, even small. Instead of "do you think Thomas is too old" ask "are you happy with the push you are getting from the interior of the D-line". He will probably say "yes", but it at least leaves an opening to answer a question without him needing to crap on a player.
