People get so desperate to try and analyze stats but forget that some stats don't mean whole hell of a lot in isolation. Analytics work incredibly well in baseball because it's a series of one on one battles, football though requires everyone working as a unit.

He was a passer. I'd say the helmet was the primary point of contact, but I'm not sure it was the top of the helmet. Going to Article 5 – Roughing the Passer part g: clears it up. So yes, it should have been a penalty IMO.

As a fan who had their heart broken too many times to count by this team, an appearance doesn’t really mean piss all to me anymore. Should be going on the drive for 5 right now, and that’s what this fanbase deserves, not standing pat and setting the team back 10 years. At this point in my life, I’m not satisfied with anything but dominant football and championships. I wish the club still had the same mentality.. There’s also the fact that Winnipeg as a city is a terrible sell for Americans. We got away with it for a number of years because we were shitkicking everybody and sending guys to the NFL. Now there’s a glass ceiling in place holding up underperforming vets, a losing streak and a coach who doesn’t play rookies when at all possible. Good luck bringing in top-end prospects.

Re-watch the play, what penalty are you expecting them to call? Maybe they could charge Dobson with fleeing the scene of an accident???

Ages ago I studied advanced math, data sciences / analytics, I’ve been a big fan of bill James work in baseball, and the use of advanced metrics in a a good few fields. I think the way they are used is improper, especially in football, and that they are over used. The field creates a massive opportunity for people with out a sporting back ground to get into pro sports management. It’s abused to an absurd level now. I feel like the cfls use here is entirely a scam. high level use, when to kick fgs, and the other stuff I mentioned earlier plus stuff like planning rest and intensity in practice is big. I personally think some advanced stats in athletic measurement is valuable as well. I hate what it’s done to basketball offences in the nba, but understand it. I do enjoy some of the chances on D though.

It’s why I don’t put a lot of stock in PFF grades. They have no idea what the assignment on any given play was and it skews the evaluation.

I'd be fine with a loss...But not due to Strev.....like to see him produce and deserve the better fate....but a loss that just further shines light on whats ailing us, and it's sad it has to come to that thought Another interesting question...what If Srev lights it up..Offence clicks and looks worlds different than it has all yr....even in a loss....but if we win ...Does Osh go right back to ZC for next game...and just stick with him in that game if he keeps struggling...I bet I know the answer to that question

Looking forward to Streveler's first start since 2019. Crazy that it's been 5 years. Also looking forward to Clercius getting a chance to start, I think he is legit. I suspect this will be our first win on the season.

Thats also why if you dont factor in the down/distance...situational plays...and also what and who had what assignment and responsibility....you cant come up with some hypothetical scoring system...it's garbage I can't argue that....And sadly it is self induced too....doesnt have to be that way And the fact we are holding status quo...same ol same ol....after 0-4...and glaring issues...is just mind boggling. actually...I can factually tell the opposite..Winnipeg is an easy sell for many many Americans. That isnt a detriment whatsoever. Tho I can say of recent, I think some players who are looking to make the next step....and by that I mean in the CFL will/are avoiding here as they see that there is not a real legit opp here in some areas...and we have had talent walk away as well due to this..Brown..Bolo...most recently and if Eli wasn't signed thrue 2025 you can bet he would be eploring elsewhere next yr as well...Likely some Dline guys too will be.

This is what drives me nuts. No real changes being made to a team that has ZERO wins. It sends a message that they are satisfied with their current position. So frustrating.

That was 100% spearing. The crown of the helmet can never be the first point of contact. Especially against a player in a vulnerable position such as throwing the ball. The fact the command centre didnt step pissed me off. I'm genuinely confused by how that thing works. Will magically step in to call no end penalties or offside....but ignore a play that takes down someone who is (supposed to be anyways) one of the leagues stars?? It doesn't make sense

The last couple of days I also have been finding the CFL.ca site not loading. What I have been doing though is going to the CFL.ca+ site through my search engine and it loads immediately. I can get everything I'm looking for from there.

and the fact we give Thomas 80% of the reps, and 2 guys in Adams and Woods the scraps is a big reason we have no dline push....and it has ripple effect out to the ends...or dline is so easy to scheme against with a DT and a nose in 30 sets who just doesnt do anything other than get taken right out of the play

we be better off withCharbonneau on for Feltmate...who offers zip....and no upside...MCI has oodles of it...and this is when you have to allow him to earn his chops...get acclimated....Dude is just as good on ST's....and offers way more as a FB... and a decoy alone if anything on some plays...you have to repsect his athleticism and speed...especially at his size.... I hope Strev makes a statement...and has a big...well rounded game....and That they installed stuff for him...to move him around and have Ottawa respect the run threat, but still have to maintain coverage

If we can get em all back...I am of belief Haba is a yr ender...and yes we park Thomas on the 6 gamer...cause we know osh won't cut him..we will be looking good

No big changes, but man that’s a rough, rough looking WR corps, LBs too. Having Augustine, Feltmate and MCI is a waste of a roster spot. So is Myron Mitchell.

That system seems like one that would have gone gaga for Reggie Hunt's 20 tackle game. 20 tackles is impressive but less so when it comes in a game you lose where both running backs go wild.

I’m mainly concerned with our guys getting healthy on the dl and us divorcing Jake Thomas.

here is a box score break down for ba and nichols. ba, half his tackles were after first down yardage was gained, he had 3 run stops but on a combined 24 rush yards. Zero pass defenses zero incompletions at him. 8 tackles. the longest play against Nichols was for 8 yards. Two plays forced 3rd down, 4 passes were incomplete when thrown at his target. 3 run stops totaling 10 rushing yards. 6 tackles. pretty clear to see those “advanced stats” are trash.

The only point would be if he ends up missing 6 weeks, as they can retroactively change him from 1 to 6 weeks. Also, if Chris gets hurt or if both qbs get hurt. Even if one get hurts and the other gets removed for protocol or has to sit plays for an injury sub but ends up ok we are in a bad bad position. I don’t like dressing a qb or player who can’t play. But at this point of the week we aren’t going to get another qb in and up to speed that it would be any better. If Zach was modestly questionable we shouldve brought in a 4th. Personally I like having a 4th any way on the pr. or a we may well have squandered those games away too. We didn’t lose close games while playing well. We’ve stank. I don’t doubt our ability to lose those games even if gifted turn overs resulting in 7s. football doesn’t break down to math well. Yep and even that wasn’t taking into consideration plays where you come back to tackle other guys misses, or fail to switch on bunches and rubs, or making an amazing play to beat a run. Football analytics are worth less in micro than most sports, and are better used in a macro approach like going for it on 3rd down, going for 2 points etc. holm even more than last year seems to be a step late frequently. Last year his explosiveness allowed him to close out and save plays where more sound play would’ve allowed him to maybe play for a turn over. It’s not all on him, his side has struggled. Though ford has improved and the side got better with out karamoko playing big reps.

Oakman joins the freakshow D in Edmonton. No interest in him whatsoever. Extremely overrated. Really liking Woods and Adams to a lesser extent...needs to learn how to aim a bit and not just shoot to steal a line from Odell Willis.

There’s another western 0-4 team who could have used him! Oh well.
