  2. It's not all O'Shea but he's fostered a culture where guys are not accountable to one another. These are the same guys who didn't take a snap in pre-season. These are the same guys who were pencilled in as starters without any real or significant challenge to their spot on the roster. These are the same guys who fail to perform week in, week out .. who no longer have the drive, desire or ability to make an impact or be more than a role player. Confidence is a fickle thing and I believe it's important to give an athlete a chance to play their way out of a funk. At the same time, every man must be held to the same standard and it's clear that's not the case. These guys can get up, say what they want to each other behind closed doors or when they're breaking down film but those words ring hollow when there are no consequences and ultimately, there is no accountability without consequence. That's on O'Shea.

  4. I wonder about that as well, Booch. Especially at training camp where's there's virtually no hitting anymore. Yet we seem to have 15 guys out after the fourth or fifth day every year. Some with serious injuries. All they're doing is running around with no pads on. Maybe the answer is to put the full pads on & start hitting. Football is not a sport to play at half speed which is what it is with no pads. If players are going to get hurt, at least get hurt working hard. I remember going to watch practices when Jim Spavital was Head Coach & he had the players hit everyday. Brutal two a days full pads for nearly 3 weeks in thee hot, blazing sun at St. John's Ravenscourt in Fort Garry. I know as for 2 years I made every TC practice. Rode my bike to every practice as a teenager. The players saw me enough to come over & say hello. Even with all that hitting going on, injuries weren't as prevalent as today. Less than half of the guys back then were in sick bay like now. Guys got hurt for sure back then but seldom was anyone lost for any length of time. They only had 32 positions available back then with 3 "taxi squad" spots & CFL teams usually came to camp with 65 players. And from what I remember, Spavital wasn't the only CFL head coach who ran tough training camps. Yet, across the CFL, guys weren't going down in record numbers. Today's training camps in the CFL are vacations compared to what the veterans of yesteryear went thru. The players workout in the off season so right awy they're ready to go. No two a days anymore . One practice day at times. Players today are in better shape as they train constantly compared to their counterparts in the 70's. Today's players are stronger as they hit the weights, they have better nutrition & cardiovascular than the guys in 1972 with the beer bellies reporting to camp 20 lbs over weight to get in shape. Yet, more guys today get hurt....

Its pretty obvious by a number of the comments on here that we're not rocket scientists , but if even we can (mostly) agree its the the refusal/reluctance to act on significant areas of concern thats hurting this team, then where there's smoke there's likely fire.

It's the inaction that gets me. We've suffered through worse teams so I'm not ready to throw in the towel but man is it frustrating watching them sit on their hands.

  14. I was saying it before, as someone who’s worked in them my entire adult life, this situation has all the toxic aspects that occur in a poorly managed union shop. Keeping fresh blood on the peripherals. No innovation. Catering to senior employees beyond what’s required. No current accountability for anyone who’s performed well in the past. It’s all so familiar lol.

The biggest WTF in my mind of Kolanowksi, if Zach is your guy how do you not do everything you can to protect him? Are you really choosing to risk your QB over your bitterness towards a player that didn't get vax'd and couldn't complete the 2021 season? If you weren't willing to play Eli why would you have Walters sign him for 3 years? That one roster change could improve our offense immensely, fixing our defense is probably two changes but solutions are in house. I guess my message to Osh and the team would be "We as fans are sick of not seeing the best players we have not start and play the most reps, fix it before we FO."

  19. generally in season....the HC will suggest/ask/request what he may need...where they need some bodies...upgrades and the G.M will facilitate it best they can within whatever restraints they have...so this lack of anything brought in.....non-use of guys in house, and just poor roster make-up..It's all on the HC Walters and his team brought in a lot of talent this yr...and we watched most it walk out the door...and I guarantee that if we had resigned Walker...and Bennett wasn't hurt....Only Fox would be left standing on our roster in terms of dline talent.... as he was an incumbent, mind you he should have been playing anyway so we win by default on that one luckily...too bad he got hurt Adams and Woods...the 2 interior guys who have played the best and actually made a difference. when allowed to see the field.....would not even be here....maybe one would rot on the PR but not get a sniff of the roster...Like Garbutt and Fox last yr

I've said for yrs now....Osh plays his fav's...and allows his bias in some circumstances over rule the smart/right choice...and it totally handcuffs our roster If you aint one his "boi's" and have the wrong B.C in some instances....you are behind the 8-ball and good luck getting on the roster, and if you do....good luck with .getting significant reps if u actually got lucky and got on...and thats just not good It was easy to gloss over it and hide before....but his Bias' players now aren't good enough...and his "Boi's" don't have the chops anymore...and here we are I would not be worried...or shed a tear if he got fired....we'd be just fine...and definitely better and a more balanced team....one that takes advantage of all the rules afforded to us, and one that plays the best players at each position

Their real strength was our defense in 2019 & 21. Teams found it hard to run, pass & especially score on us back then. We put a ton of pressure on the pass rush. Then, Walters just let that great defense age out & wither away. Stove hasn't played for us since 2021. Three years later, we still haven't found his replacement. Walters refused to go after any nose guards or D Ends in free agency. So, here we are. It used to be our offense would outscore the other guys. Now, we can't do that anymore. They saw this coming. THEY HAD TO!! God Almighty, that's the job of the HC, GM & Scouts. To see & recognize when players need to be replaced. Yet, very little was done. We keep guys like Jake Thomas & let Janarion Grant & Rasheed Bailey go to free agency. Coaches favourites still play. What the Hell happened to the decision making on this team? How has it been allowed to come down to this?

  30. Punting into the wind has everything to do with ball placement. Lower release point so the ball doesn't go as high. More of a line drive. Lower trajectory into the wind is what punters strive for. At least they used to. Now with the Aussies doing their thing, I've seen pooch punts, end over end... Whatever works, I guess.

  32. Wade just needs to have a talk with them, Fat Tony style: "I'm afraid I must insist. You see, the fans, they have been most vocal on the subject of the cooked vets. "Where are the cuts?" "When are you going to replace them?" "Why are they still playing?" And so on."

  33. Renovating someone's house. It may happen and we don't know but I will never understand why the team doesn't ask him to come spend time with punting prospects at TC to teach just that one technique as in to the wind is such a tricky aspect of the game.

I have been a blue bomber fan for over 60 years starting when I was eight… I've always been passionate about them especially around family. But now I have lost my mojo… The worst part about all has been the bickering between posters and the quick run to negativity that I am not used to seeing. I think this is a great fan board but I just now I feel disgusted. It's not that the bombers are having a tough year; I've been through many more tough years than good ones. What's bugging me is the Blue company PR; it's the appearance of complacency and we will be "okay"… That's what's the heartbreak is for me... It's too quiet. I do miss too the lack of optimism that I usually find somewhere amidst the posters. I see the potential and I see the impatience. But the mood of doom and gloom multiplied by complaining is enough to make me want to walk away from the game after all these years. It's not fun right now. No, I do not think we are spoiled. It wasn't very long ago that we all thought we had the best management in the country. Does everybody seem helpless because one or two individuals have too much control, too much self-centredness? Okay, so for now I give up. I am going to jump on the doom and gloom bandwagon. Every time we win again I'm going to buy a cigar and throw it over the balcony. The rest of the time I'm going to play sad old rock music. Meanwhile, I am going to content myself with trying to figure out when Michael O'Shea first developed Alzheimer's. It's my new challenge. I think I will start next week, maybe.

VOTE of NON-CONFIDENCE: Miller the bombers CEO saved this franchise once… And he needs to do it again by and large you let the head coach do his thing… We all know that and the reasons However, now it's different. There's a reason why coaches don't stay with their team forever… Great leaders are always trying to repeat their great successes but so many consequential and ongoing decisions show that they are not thinking straight. Success was found by applying the right principles to the situation and utilizing the people willing to take those critical steps. What proves to be true afterwards is that each situation requires new and unique solutions. Trying to apply past solutions to a very different present situation just doesn't work. It takes a unique individual to apply new solutions to new challenges. It takes a humility to do this. WARNING SHOT ACROSS THE BOW if Walters can use a little influence and "order" MOS to make certain changes, maybe the season can be saved. If Miller looks in and has a heart-to-heart with O'Shea maybe he will realize he's being put on notice. It would be stupid to not tell O'Shea that his job is on the line right now. Otherwise we will just continue to spiral and he will be fired in the off-season. PLANNED Rebuilding next winter simply is too late. Doing nothing is a vote of nonconfidence. Taking corrective action now is a vote of confidence, if things have not already gone too far. We just need our whole team to lead from wherever they are standing. This is executives, coaches, and players. It's not a matter of authority; it's a matter of pulling together to lift each other up as we face the hard realities.

Or who won't acknowledge that climate change has created the conditions for fires to start more readily and burn hotter and faster than they have previously. I mean these two things can be true .. arsonists set fires but climate change makes these fires so much more deadly and destructive.

Problem is they're fixated on most of the losses being close, so just clean up a few things... well most of their wins the last 5 years were close too... used to be we had the talent and depth to make the plays needed to win the tight ones, now they don't have either. They need to realize that before they can fix it.

Yup. Agreed. But it’s almost like a F you to lots of folks on here. I wanted to keep Dru over Zach. Logically a 35 36 yr old ain’t got much time left but the kid we groomed did. Man that’s a bad word in today’s world so I’ll say the 1st blue bomber qb we developed in years. We chose old Joe over Steve young. It’s just maddening. Old Joe tho had a good year or 2 left. Zach appears like he don’t. It started there for me.

  49. Some insight from Sheldon Kennedy on what Bowman has done since leaving the Hawks. https://thehockeynews.com/news/sheldon-kennedy-of-respect-in-sports-group-reflects-on-his-work-with-stan-bowman. "I was immediately struck by Stan’s genuine care and concern for Kyle, and what could have been done differently," Kennedy said. "During that period, we spoke almost daily about the seriousness of sexual abuse from the victim’s perspective. We didn’t talk about hockey at all. We focused on what went wrong, what he could have done differently and, most importantly, what could be done to prevent this from happening again." Kennedy said Bowman's desire to acknowledge his mistakes and make amends with Beach were sincere and that he volunteered nearly full-time hours to help develop the Respect Charter and workshop curriculums. He added Bowman also co-facilitated the Respect Charter session at Trinity Western University in British Columbia and met with Beach, who attended the workshops and discussed their realities. "Stan’s acceptance, open mindedness, and understanding were huge difference makers in building this workshop," Kennedy said. Near the end of his letter, Kennedy said he believes Bowman "would be a valuable asset to an organization due to his acknowledgment of past mistakes and his relentless efforts to make the locker room/game safer for everyone. "Lastly and most importantly, I feel that Stan will do everything in his power to make sure what happened to Kyle Beach (who is a hero in my opinion) will not happen to anyone else," he added. ________ I respect Kennedy's perspective on this topic. Perhaps Bowman has realized some personal growth in his time away.
