  1. The directional stuff is necessary though. Every single punter on this side of the border is trying to hit the ball to the numbers and tighter to sideline. If it's not there it's a major fail whether it's a 70 yard kick or a 30 yard one. We basically shouldn't be punting inside the 50 and to me if it's on -50 and 3rd or 5 or less I'm going for it no matter who my punter is. Last 5 games net is 33, 47, 42, 30, 36. Season is 36. Net average for 2024 so far (with adjustment for rouges) Calgary 32 BC 35 Winnipeg 36 Sask 36 Montreal 37 Ottawa 37 Hamilton 37 Toronto 40 Edmonton 40

  2. Switching up a bit....Why do we employ a kicker who is not getting it done....I realize there is chemistry with Castillo but I don't see why we couldn't get another kicker, to build chemistry with Castillo, who is a helluva lot more reliable....Just one of the head scratchers that hold this team back....

  3. I don't know if Eli is a better centre than Kolo but I'm tired of seeing Kolo pushed into Zach and BO's laps.

  4. Because O'Shea wants to destroy him slowly, grind him down till his career is nothing but dust. BTW he's using the same tactic to destroy Booch's credibility.

  6. What do you base this on...when you say coaches should clearly make the opposite decision? Think about it for a second. You haven't even seen Eli play centre in the CFL. Yeah this an appeal to authority but Eli is nothing special even in the roles he's playing. Watch him try to pass protect the edge when they run the 6 OL max protect sets. He can't move laterally at all. He comes in at guard and he's getting beat with strength and inside rips/swims because his feet don't move with him at all. Yeah he can lock onto a run block or support the play side double teams on wide zone looks. I just don't understand what the thinking is that somehow he's going to be a difference maker. Kolankowski is the 3rd guy they've played at C over him and even had Dobson getting reps in pre-season over him. They clearly don't see him as a viable option as anything but a fill-in to get out of a game at centre, likely any spot. I'm kind of surprised Wallace didn't get a shot in Toronto at G because he looks a lot more physically capable in an athletic sense in those heavy set reps he gets. His hips were a little concerning in pre-season getting to his assignments in pass pro by turning rather than firing his feet. But he's had 3 months of reps now.

We just ordered Starlink for the lake and you can now get the hardware for $99. Just got delivered today so I'm looking forward to getting it set-up this weekend.

We just got ours a week ago for the lake and it works flawlessly. I was able to work from "cabin" last week for a few days and had zero interruptions and zero issues with my work vpn and doing video calls and streaming youtube at the same time. Once you connect the cables and power it on, it was about 20 minutes of doing the setup through the app and it's then good to go. I'm also on the wait list for valley fiber.... it promises much faster upload speeds and is $40 dollars cheaper per month. It apparently will be ready in our area in a few months. The feedback that I've heard from my neighbours and what I've read online has been that people are annoyed that they have been waiting months/years of them to complete installation in their respective areas. If anyone has Valley Fiber on here , how has it worked for you? Is it reliable?

  11. 100% agree that Eli should be starting over Kolo. And no debate that Osh makes many baffling roster decisions. I do wonder though if there's a bit more to him not starting than just Osh. OL coach, OC, even the DC and DL coaches give some input as to who they see as the best options. OL coach and OC give a lot of input on all teams. You have to wonder why they're not seemingly beating the Eli drum as hard as we fans are. Maybe they're seeing something in practices they don't like? Blown assigments, communication, conditioning ... just guesses. I get it, head coach has final say. But you know that in football the assistant coaches and especially coordinators are really vocal about player choices. And one final thing - if Eli was clearly blowing away Kolo in practice, regularly pancaking DL's, he'd be starting. I just think that although he's better than Kolo, the margin isn't massive. At least at present.

  14. yeah...He is last lineman we have who would get trucked...he whiffed his first couple , but then settled in...and again...when you get no live reps...you will make some errors at first...practice isnt gonna get you ready for game play Same with Randolph...took him a series or 2....and then he looked like he been playing for yrs...same would happen at center if we made that switch...but we won't just cause we have a stubborn HC who only makes a change when a guy can'y physically perform...and even then as we have seen...some his fav's still get rostered
    2 points
  15. Kolo gets trucked and pushed into pocket repeatedly...has a huge difficulty switching blocks or recognizing what's flashing in front of him and who to take....plus he is undersized, which bodes well only with an extremely athletic center...and he's not that either Eli has untapped potential and upside....but hard to tap it...or see the upside when not given a chance...and it's mainly due to the way Osh does things.....to not even try to see, and upgrade your roster is kinda foolish....you should always try to be better Same said with on the Dline....Thomas is what he is...is not a future piece here...yet he plays and plays and plays...Let Schmeck take his reps...Thomas take Schmecks...and see what he has, and if he is a capable back-up to Lawson.....and then go a step further and allow Samson some field time too...I think he has more potential than Schmeck actually, but good luck getting a look the way we do things. Thomas at this point should be injury replacement insurance, or the guy who gets 5..7 snaps a game and is there in case we have 2 olineman go down....nothing more
    2 points
  16. So Eli is not likely to get trucked IMO. Miss a block? Sure maybe, that happened when he first went in but he won't get bullied like kolankowski regularly does.

  17. convo is good....I didnt see any better play from Kolo....Randolph was real good...Lofton has been good of late, and with Randolph there he looked really good last game...hopefuly that is the new norm Kolo I would assume stays as depth for this yr...I still think the 7 oline guys is a waste, and that roster spot could be filled with a more useful player, and for the times we run all 7 at once, we could use any big body really....but we seem to think that extra oline guy for 4 reps a game is best use of a spot...I disagree
    2 points
  18. No worries, I'm just making conversation. If Eli gets/earns the starting centre spot - do you keep Kolo as depth?
    2 points
  19. I dont come here for credibility....but thanks for the concern lol bUT if you think Osh is all that...and places the best options in some spots then all the best to you Kolo isnt our best option but we stuck with him cause Osh thinks he's all that some see it....but again is what it is,,,,and this is exactly it....guy was on scrap heap for 2 yrs....nobody wanted....and we never know what we have in this regime as guys never get a true chance....many here can argue it all they want but it's a fact Kolo has no potential now....he reached his ceiling and it was a low ceiling...he not the future...so why continue??...makes zero sense...same with Thomas...BA...Biggie....but Osh gonna Osh as he cant see talent through bias so he went from shitty...to not as shitty??...and he looked better...maybe...tho I never saw it as he had an active and athletic guard beside him cleaning things up.... because if the center went down....then Eli would have to slide over, and someone else slide to guard...and in effect you have 3 changes in game to cover one injury....for once Osh did something with roster for a game that actually made sense and was the right thing.....now use the break to swap out the center....and see what that gives you on your interior....as opposed to standing pat

  20. So what are you suggesting exactly? O'Shea just has a personal vendetta against Eli? Why not cut him at the beginning of the year if he hates him so much? Or even advise Walters not to sign him at all? This thought that O'Shea hates certain players on his roster is just nuts to me.

  24. this day and age....there no way to prove anything in the practices they run....fact of the matter now practices are a joke....and in no way a guy can prove anything by physically beating out a guy or showing anything...not along the lines or even with LB's Non contact 7 on 7 skelly is about only way and even then it's still not the same as an actual scrimmage or real world reps And clearly the coach isn't looking at skill-set and what guys are doing and look like in any technical drill or work on their craft....because many of the practices I attended...especially last 2 yrs....some of the best guys when you were to assess them on thier skill level....couldnt get on the roster.....2 db's last yr....a DT and a DE stood out in every one....but only 1 of em got any roster time

This league is getting hard to watch. I just don't understand how they can be so bad at this when we have video reviews. Two things I will remember from Ambrosie's tenure - Reffing and the Schooners.
    1 point
  28. Just think back to a phantom pi call on Ford a few games back and you'll have your answer....It's simply just piss poor reffing and it seems now, to have spread to the guys reviewing the plays in TO

  29. It pretty much amounts to the same thing though. Whether you are trucked or whiff on a block the outcome is poor. I'm not here to pump Kolo's tires, I see him as a weakness as well, but after watching Tui's reps the last few games I think we are stuck with him. Tui was an absolute disaster and last game, in particular, was just pitiful....and that was on limited reps. Could be he resets at C and is just fine, but I think people expecting it need to watch some tape. I can get the argument of how does he get better with no playing time, but I can also understand any coach not wanting to get their QB killed while an OL is learning game speed too. I'm not suggesting that MOS is making the right decision playing Kolo over Tui, just saying it's not as cut and dry as it seems.
    1 point
  30. I saw him whiff on blocks but I don't recall him ever getting trucked.

  31. Eli has had playing time at guard. He's Canadian but Randolph gets to start ahead of him.
    1 point
  32. Vendetta? No, hates him? No. Just that oshea doesn't make moves unless he absolutely has to even if they might make the team better. Kolankowski stepped in for an injury and held the fort and now he is untouchable. Eli was away for a year and dropped on the depth chart and can't move up because no one is getting hurt.

  33. Kola has been better the last couple games. The OL has improved quite a lot.

  34. Reading that….made me blow another snot bubble.

  35. And an undersized Kola who blows his blocking assignments & gets blown back 10 yards into Zach's face on a bull rush is any better? At least Eli is younger & can only improve with a higher upside if he plays. Kola is 32 years old & his potential has reached his ceiling. He'll never get any better than he is now. Eli needs more playing time but doesn't get it.

  37. That’s fair. I mean, I follow NDSU but I couldn’t tell you how their linemen would translate to the pros. I’ll have games on for background noise too, but I mean for someone to say they sit there and watch MAC (or in my case FCS) games and have intimate knowledge of their o-line without being an actual scout for a living? Come on, who’s got that kind of time?

  40. If guys like Shepley can mainly PR for several years so can Manu. A lot can change in a couple years, you may have noticed the guy he was ahead of on the DC is no longer with us either. I'm not a Kolo lover and was all aboard the Eli train too, but he has been god awful when given reps this year. Last week he was just whiffing on every block attempt. Never is what we think it's going to be. Also, of the 13 guys currently 6 gamed only 6 of them represent any possible SMS savings as 7 of them are on rookie contracts. Not sure about how much savings, if any, Neufeld/K.Wilson/Lawson represent because their up front money is unknown but I would wager all 3 combined would constitute minimal savings at best. I would not think that Wilson or Lawson are pulling down big money, and I would wager that Neufeld took down a healthy portion of his contract up front. Even if Collaros were to go down the SMS savings would not be as grand as one would think.

  41. Before the vaccine issue Eli was ahead of gray on the depth chart... then upon return he can't get ahead of anyone? That doesn't make sense, especially knowing the limitations kolankowski has.
    1 point
  42. The whole league had two years to sign the guy and he came back here on a 3 year deal. Even Jacob Ruby got signed immediately when he was eligible again. I don't see it as a talent evaluation problem in this case. The guy who is biased for Canadian players all of a sudden hates a Canadian player? Gotta get the narratives straight. I mean that's not true. I was just at Vikings camp and half the OL they have in there are in their 30s having bounced around PR's and barely played NFL games.

  43. I think we fine for next 3..4 yrs at least with an interior of Dobson..Wallace and Eli..as our main 3 Nationals...we need to get some young guys behind them....so draft is key, or we can go via free agency and get a up and comer going into his second contract...not too concerned there as we seem to know how to scout/draft and develop there Demski for most part this yr was trying to do too much and carry the load knowing we were so gouged at WR from injury....can't fault hi for that, and old habits from past crept in when he wasn't acutely aware of ball security...Once Lawler comes back...Wilson keeps developing and the addition of Lucky now...we will see him back to his usual self...not overly concerned there, and with the amount we have had on the 6 game this yr I can see a renegotiate withhim for 2025 with some of that money coming this yr...the seemingly quietness of Walters and the non-moves leads me to think we will see a couple of those happen this yr, to help load up for 2025....ZC included he is better than Kolo now....Osh politics Also tho I think it was more they didnt want to rely on Wallace yet as an in game replacement at guard if Kolo was to go out with injury in game and Eli had to assume center...and it makes a lot of sense actually when you dig into it....Also Osh alluded in one of his usually useless pressers that Eli was the backup center in part of his rambling....if u were to read between the lines....for once in a long time I actually side with Osh there on a roster tweak....Wallace may not be ready for starting guard work....with no reps all week.....yet....as I believe he is gonna be there next yr....and be dominant

  44. Don’t think he’s lost a step, but he is certainly struggling with in his role, and even struggling at executing blocks. Hes a no2 guy, he’s robin not Batman. He does more for other guys than any wr in the league. If you have to pick 2 of the 3 you are best off with Demski and either guy. Not the other two with out demski. With out good guys to open stuff up for a lot of value is lost with Demski. Demski is getting a really big pay day. We have too much money tied up in too few positions for sure. If you look at the top 10 paid wrs in the league this year, most are behind nik in production. But, once lawler is back I think nik will play and provide much more again. Keep in mind he’s on track for almost 1000 yards again, his catch rate is very similar to Wilson’s, and Zack struggled soo badly for much of the first half. I would love to see Demski take a more team friendly deal next year.
    1 point
  45. there’s no way I’m writing Demski off but we definitely do need to give some thought (and by we, I mean the front office) as to whether or not we want to retain him at his current price tag
    1 point
  46. So people keep complaining about Lawler and Schoen's salaries but both have led the CFL in receiving and are at worst two of the top 10 WR in the CFL but nobody complains about Demski making $215,000 which makes him something like the 4th highest paid WR in the CFL and he's best suited to be an excellent third option, maybe a second option. I'd rather keep both over Demski.
    1 point
  47. A receiving core of Wilson, Whitehead, Lawler, Clercius, and Desmki looks nice after what we've dealt with most of the season.

  50. Yeah it'll be Wilson unless he gets hurt or falls off a cliff.... too visible and too good an opportunity with the other top guys hurt to put up big numbers. I'll create a coming out of absolutely nowhere to be an impactful rookie award to give to Hubert though. Throw away draft pick becomes a solid rotational piece. You love to see it.
