  1. I think we should start up a gofundme and get you this:

  2. Not much from practice today but there is this...

  3. Put a quality product on the field and the name isn't a problem. The fans haven't had much to cheer about since the cancelled season in 2020 - only 3 home wins (including a record setting 22 game home losing streak) and they've finished last or tied for last each year. Doesn't matter if it's the Elks or Eskimoes when the team is a tire fire. That's the issue the new owner should be concerned about.

  4. Honestly, what we've done here in terms of cultivating support, making it easy to come to a game (cost wise) and creating a great fan experience should be a blue print for all teams to follow. We started off TERRIBLY this season but still pulled in over 30K for our last home game? That's so impressive knowing how fickle (and frugal) Winnipeggers are.

  9. 100%. Add to that the constant complaints from fans about any kind of quality game/pre-game/post game experience etc and this is what happens. The team needs to take notes from Wade and engage fans outside of the stadium, add entertainment to draw fans to games early and most importantly put a winning product together. Changing the team name and spending all of that money does exactly none of that. But it will create bad press and more drama that takes away from putting attention on what's actually happening on thebfield

  10. Changing the name wasn't why they went multiple seasons without winning a game at home, and that was why people stopped going to games. It stopped being an entertaining product, and Chris Jones didn't help that at all. You say woke like it's a bad thing... it's a stupid term, but being culturally sensitive and stopping using a derogatory term for the name of your team is the right thing to do, and should have been done years earlier than it was.

  11. In the Montreal game they lined up Haba as a standup rusher inside...I counted 6 snaps of that. It was always with Kyrie and Cole at LB, and then Willie & Fox as proper DEs.

  12. As I read the CBA, teams have to spend a *minimum* of $110,000 per year on "Non-Football Related Services". That $110K counts under the Total Salary Expenditure Cap (this season it's $5.635 million. Up to $5.76 million next season). The thought that it doesn't count against the cap is mostly correct. I don't see anything in the CBA that mentions a maximum for "Non-Football Related Services". What I've heard is that the CFL wants teams to "just be cool" about it (ie. don't go nuts and spend a zillion dollars there). It's got to be a tricky spot for owners collectively. If one decides to spendspendspend I can't imagine the rest could do much to stop him. And if I was the players union I would want a MAJOR concession to put a specified limit on that money.

  13. I don’t buy that either. Not that I agree with Adams to the PR, but playing devils advocate I think they’re just trying to get a speed rusher on the edge. I still can’t think of a good reason not to take Josh Johnson off and just bring Haba into the mix. Respectfully, yes.

  14. I mean .. it *could* be Chase Brice. 😂

  15. What’s the point of having a cap at all at that point?
    4 points
  16. Don't like that there isn't a cap. While there's always been under the table stuff that goes on in the CFL, this simply allows an owner with deep pockets (and more money than sense) to just buy their way forward should they feel so inclined.

  17. I think it's still too soon to see if the BC model is effective. They have done better under Doman and I like a lot of the things he has done but they also have had a fairly good team recently. Can they sustain that with a losing team? The new Edmonton owner doesn't have the luxury of buying a winning team and neither did the Bombers when Wade took over. Wade has been at this for over a decade now so his blue print is proven to work, regardless of the on-field product.

  18. Before they adopt the bombers blueprint they should follow bc's example. 1 have an owner passionate about making cfl football relevant 2 Hire a successful coach 3 get out into the community and surrounding areas and market 4 Bring in some special events to get the potential fan attention and attract younger fans. 5. They have the qbs to build a good team around, offensively their talent is very good. Defensively they need to redistribute some money to dline and linebackers ( Ironic that Jones a supposed defensive guru caused this ie trading Ceresna for Gittens jr, overpaying multiple recievers etc.)

  20. Adams off makes no sense and I hope it’s just … not a move we’re going to make

  21. Ugh hate that Adams is off for Habba. Like habba but we shouldn’t be making that switch.

  22. I don't get taking Adams off. Take a guy like Ayers off who doesn't get reps on D. Also what in the world has Josh Johnson done to stay on the roster?

  23. I’d prefer VAJ go to the Ticats next year, the place where QB’s go to suck …

  26. Just saying, last time Bombers went into BC against this hyped up QB, Rourke got Pourked.

  27. it wasnt even a bad malicious thing tho....cant see it being that...but if it is...PR kramdi and stick Griffen there then...cant treat one player one way....another a different way...

  28. He will be tossing interceptions. Book it. No way he gets on the same page with all his receivers in a couple days of practice.

  29. Interesting that it doesn't note a maximum amount to spend .. $110K is the floor.

  30. Section 30.03.B on page 99 of the CBA maybe? https://media.cfldb.ca/documents/cfl-cflpa-collective-agreement-2022.pdf Although that sounds like $110K and not $200K

  31. But also .. isn't it largely what the Bombers have been doing already? Passionate owner? Community owned but you can't deny Wade is passionate about the Bombers and the CFL. Successful coach? O'Shea was an inspired choice and was allowed to grow without interference or be subjected to knee jerk decisions (THIS WILL BE VITAL for the Elks). Get out into the community? We do that .. in spades. Special events to attract fans? This is all part of the bigger game day experience and something we've improved upon year over year. The biggest hurdle Edmonton has to face is fan apathy and that cavern of a stadium (which was a similar problem the Argos faced playing in Skydome). That won't be an easy task but it starts first with removing barriers for families to get out to games - make it cheap. A butt in a seat at a good price is far better than an empty stadium.

  32. That's what I had thought too...we think we have an albatross around our neckon one deal....they have a big fat one....question now will be...can they afford to protect him?.....afford to give him a receiver group like he had?....or afford to put a defence on the field to not have to put up 35+ points a game in order to win....that will be the interesting part of all this

  33. I mean, after their recent history with Mike Reilly...they need to see the forest for the trees at some point.

  35. Haba can play edge....maybe a bit inside but not effectievly....Adams can do both..and very well...and is key in the middle on the 30.....typical Osh stupidity....dude tied for team lead and second in league i sacks...gets constant pressure...and many pursuit tackles....so PR him...what JOKE But keep an LB on roster who takes zero snaps on defence....or next to zero...plays soley on teams.....super smart again...Osh penchant fo playing guys out of position...we have a legit D tackle who can play all over,,,,park him for 2 guys who are purely edge guys...sure can put them in middle...are they the preferred guy tho...no exactly...as mentioned above we have an edge rusher...Garbutt...and Jefferson....now we have one DT worth a lick...Woods...Thomas and Schmeckle for lack of a better word truly suck when we have better...Osh is a literal joke...Cant wait till we move on from him like they will have any impact whatsoever....ever...again..why?...I sure there some other free agent CFL guys we could have added...just because If Winnipeg Rifles are our answer for depth and development...sorry but man we have a serious problem...and seriously brain dead brain trust

  36. Another magical mystery move by O'Shea.

  37. Sitting Adams is absolutely asinine. Wasn’t the D a well oiled machine last time out against BC? Why mess with that? I just don’t get it.
    3 points
  38. They have 2 solid American guys who can push the pocket from the middle and you sit one of them but keep Josh Johnson on the roster? That’s an extremely illogical move. I’d say foolish even.

  39. Thought Haba was the one guy doing his job getting pressure in game 1 before he got hurt.

  40. Huh? He played rush end. The only full game he played our D got toasted by Montreal. In large part because we had SFA for a pass rush.

  41. Last 3 weeks we have looked our best...was a culmination of less Thomas...more Adams or Wood flanked by WJ or Garbutt...or woods and wj and Garbutt Now we gonna get lotsa Thomas...and garuantee we gonna look totally different..and not in a good way...makes zero sense...

  42. maybe he will turn out like the last BC qb that left and came back Casey Stinkers

  43. BS move sending Adams to the practice roster…. Get ready for lots of JT watching Rourke sitting in the pocket, comfy as can be 🤦🏻‍♂️

  44. Demoting Adams for Haba seems like a mistake to me.

  45. I like how Farhan was about $200,000 off the mark LMAO I think it will happen. It's pretty hard to trade a guy who is going to get cut anyway and teams want to craft their own contracts.
