  2. Context would be the key. #1 receiver vs. the bench warmer's backup

  3. you know there could be a ticket drive involved here too... a casual fan (who maybe trusts Farhan's opinion) hears this and thinks "wow, if he's that good I better check out this game"... at least he's drumming up CFL conversation

  4. This is obviously an absurd take... the only reason I could see his saying this is literally to drum up a controversy and create discussion...

  5. Better .. why not take Ayers off? He's not going to see the field for defensive reps anyways.

  6. worth bearing in mind that Rourke washed out of the NFL in less time and with much less fanfare than Streveler did... surely he meant to say top 20 qb in the CFL.

  7. Considering the shot in the arm lucky provided to the offense they'd be stupid not to use him.

  8. it's an insult to any Canadian starter....or playmaker...especially ones in other high profile positions, and especially the ones who trained and went post secondary education all the way through Canada...not jumped to a U.S prep school....then were trained for 4 yrs at an NCAA program...Suitors just an antiquated air bag who likes to hear himself talk...and should have been sent to the glue factory yrs ago already

  9. I asked the question prior to the first game of the year: will they let Streveler be anything more than a gadget QB? So far the answer is no and that's just wild to me. I don't know if it's a trust thing, managing Zach's confidence or whether they simply had no plan for Streveler beyond "Hey, fans love this guy and he's going to help us sell tickets." It's a complete failure on Buck's part to not only integrate him into the offence as a passer (when needed) but also in not doing anything to disguise intent or provide any creative looks when Streveler is behind center. It's a shame.

  12. Easy for me. Move Haba on PR if you really want him or cut him. Leave Adams on the roster. Haba is a very borderline CFL player. We should still be beating the bushes for edge help. Adams and Woods have been quite impactful. Haba for Adams = weaker pass rush and weaker overall DL. If you get injured every 2-3 games you play yes you can lose your job to injury. That's happened to Haba. And then he steps up and bombs it downfield because the pocket isn't being collapsed.

  13. For crying out loud…. No one is saying put Murphy in the lineup because he’s the best option. It’s a way to keep Adams on the roster. That’s it. Adams should be playing. Period.

  15. Right? There’s no salary cap anymore, if there ever really was one. This marketing money stuff reminds me of Fluties “Personal Service” Contract in the 90s.

  16. Neither. I’m expecting the Bomber D to play well enough to win though.

  17. Why trade for Adams when you know BC has to release him next year before his bonus comes due since Rourke is up to 749k next year.

Great news from the government banning cellphones in schools for K-8 in Manitoba: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/manitoba-cellphone-ban-schools-1.7295483 It's about time, and I'm happy to see that the teachers will now have some recourse against the parents who insist that their kid has to have a phone in case they need to get a hold of them while they are in school.

This was overdue...big step in the right direction There were literally no schools who did not have an issue with this

  20. Johnson off for Murphy and Adams on with another ni or the second global off makes all the sense in the world, in that it makes us notably better. When exactly do you think he’s had chances to make contributions?

  21. Rourke is the low hanging fruit story of the week. It'll be like that until the league clears Kelly to play next week. And frankly they should've already done so (or at a bare minimum clarified when he is eligible).

  22. Just what I was thinking... losing 12-13 (or so) man games of Lawler and Shoen is far more impactful than 18 from a special teamer...

  26. Man games lost due to injury. B.C. Lions — 64 man games lost (7.1 per game) Ottawa Redblacks — 69 man games lost (8.6 per game) Edmonton Elks — 81 man games lost (9.0 per game) Saskatchewan Roughriders — 86 man games lost (9.6 per game) Winnipeg Blue Bombers — 87 man games lost (9.7 per game) Montreal Alouettes — 91 man games lost (10.1 per game) Hamilton Tiger-Cats — 92 man games lost (10.2 per game) Calgary Stampeders — 100 man games lost (11.1 per game) Toronto Argonauts — 100 man games lost (11.1 per game) I'm surprised that we're in the middle of the pack. I really do feel bad for the workers at these places as they are constantly in the threat of danger as they can do absolutely nothing to stop it. The penalty for shoplifting or robbing one of these places is jack squat, you pay far more for a red light camera ticket compared to what these criminals "pay". Eventually it will be like in certain areas of the USA where their will be no convenience or other stores to buy anything in the more poor areas. It's unfortunate.

  32. As I read the CBA, teams have to spend a *minimum* of $110,000 per year on "Non-Football Related Services". That $110K counts under the Total Salary Expenditure Cap (this season it's $5.635 million. Up to $5.76 million next season). The thought that it doesn't count against the cap is mostly correct. I don't see anything in the CBA that mentions a maximum for "Non-Football Related Services". What I've heard is that the CFL wants teams to "just be cool" about it (ie. don't go nuts and spend a zillion dollars there). It's got to be a tricky spot for owners collectively. If one decides to spendspendspend I can't imagine the rest could do much to stop him. And if I was the players union I would want a MAJOR concession to put a specified limit on that money.

I do wonder why the individual schools and/or divisions didn't take this step on their own before this though. I feel like they could have but chose not to, even though they knew it was a problem. I'm very interested to hear from my daughter when she gets back to school on what difference she finds it makes in her class. It's been a problem for a couple of years with a good number of the kids. She doesn't have a device herself and has been very frustrated with the other kids.

  36. The Bombers also lost QB 1 for a brief stint this year (game and a half). Though, I'd argue he wasn't anywhere to be found for the first third of the season 😂

  37. Murphy has made virtually zero contributions anytime he's had the chance. I wouldn't understand any move that results with him being on the roster

  38. As long as #8 isnt forcing the ball to him while he is bracketed to perfection...I hope we see Collaros remain on course in terms of what he has been doing these past few weeks. Take what's there, spread the ball out...don't lock on to one guy and force it to him.

  39. Operationally that franchise is still bleeding money. They've got big crowds when they've essentially paid them to come to see a concert with a football game.
