  1. Be shocked if collaros didn't play. Just win. West is too tight to take a step back now. Time to start putting some of these teams firmly in the rear view.

It’s wild how successful Mike Reilly was in his short time as HC, and he’s barely mentioned with the other great coaches. I think we would have won at least one more cup had he stuck around, his departure really hurt the club.

Congrats to Mike. Winning one hundred plus games & counting is a real milestone. The Bombers having two head coaches with over a hundred wins each is really something.

  4. Our D turned a corner when Wilson went out. They didn't give up a TD in the first 3 games he was out. Not sure I'm rushing him back. Don't really see a good fit for him unless we have a time machine to 2019 or 2021. Keep playmakers in. Use Griffin more at WIL. Like Jones playing more of that tackle to tackle spot with minimal downfield pass coverage responsibility. I don't see why Gauthier can't essentially fill in for Bighill when we want two more old-school type LB's out there with Jones stepping up to every down. Kind of like in 2019 when half our secondary lost their jobs when Taylor, Mike Jones and Maston stepped up mid-season. I think more and more we're seeing guys suited for the roles in this particular scheme get into the lineup and on the field. And the results pour in. They need to figure out how to get a pass rush from the DL. Adams back on should be a no brainer. Personally I like Garbutt over Haba, keep Haba around if you really want but start bringing guys in who are that 5'11-6'1 230-250 body type to press the edge and maybe win some reps, hassle QB's.

  5. While it's true that a tiebreaker is very unlikely because of their tie, winning on Saturday would effectively be a 4 point swing for us in the standings (in addition to hopefully crushing their green heart)

  8. Teams can start expanding their rosters this week. Bombers may wait until after the bye to bring their guys in as its only a 30 day window. Be interesting to see if they bring in a QB.

  9. Is Maier the worst starting QB in the league?

  10. I am putting the blame 100% on the coaches, Strev walked in and made big time playes (NFL preseason) with his arm. Enough so that he was being featured and highlighted. If the guy physically or with his throwing mechanics was so bad he would of been a one week cut like Rourke and 100's of other QB's. The guy in his first season with us was running a normal offense and his talent and physical abilities were enough to move the ball. Let the guy run a normal play set and get him some plays where he can roll out of the pocket and I'm sure things would be much better. I refuse to believe that Strev is an Alex Brink 2.0 or Jason Boltus, he's being mis used here and I bet if he were to be traded to another team that he would be doing big time things in this league.

  11. So...Biggie out likely a while...if not the season...I assume it's Adams back on again...Stan for Vanterpool? I'd like us to just continue with the 6 oline guys as Schmeck actually fared well crashing in off the edge...maybe that's his niche this yr as part of the jumbo...and he brings good intensity there...pleasant surprise there Now when Wilson is ready to go...does it not make sense to add him ...keep Jones and Ayers and dump Johnson? With Lawler..Demski..Woli...Wilson..Lucky and Clercius we have more than adequate receiver coverage...still have Augustine and assume when MCI ready to go he bumps the global LB off...so not like Johnson is key to any offensive success and when the leaves start to fall.. and the run game becomes key...The bigger bodied guys...and the skill Lucky brings far surpasses the reps Johnson gets...and having Adams..Ayers..Wilson and Jones all on roster makes our defence very deep

I've complained about lineup choices and some decisions but I'd like to start a thread where we give MOS his flowers. Congrats coach on winning your 102 game and tying the Blue Bomber record. There has been a lot of good moments the past ten years. @DTonOB, don't tell MOS about this or he'll likely ask the site to take it down. 😉

  13. If Zach cant go, open the playbook for Streveler, hopefully Bryant is back and healthy. Enormous game for season series.

  14. 51-6, 54-20, 33-9, 35-10 the last four banjo bowl games. We all know the LDC is the Riders grey cup. We beat them in their own barn, with a healthy Zach and maybe a return of Stanley Bryant, I have no doubt in my mind well cream these guys at home.

So roughly the same as Osh now 2014 -2024 👍 One of my favorite coaches in any sport ever. KOC in Minnesota sort of reminds me of him although Mike was more of a defensive coach. Used to love his coaches show on the old CKND with Joe P. He was a natural and would have been great on TV as a CFL broadcaster. I guess he had some success down south so I can't hold it against him. Stupid start up leagues at that time though 😡 Just think how good our team in the 90's could have been and the league in general if we hadn't have lost all of those great players and coaches to the stupid US expansion period of 1993 - 1995 🤑

  22. Buck has single hand idly ruined Streveler’s reputation. Why he doesn’t trust a guy who was throwing the football in the NFL to throw the football is baffling. Considering Buck was a former QB. He should know better. I hate that run option play because it’s either going to Brady or Streveler is running the ball. Mix it up with a throw every once in awhile. It’s completely frustrating.

  23. One play too if he gave it to lucky he coukd have turned the corner and ran all day...but Riders knew he was gonna pull it and it went nowhere...may have been that play where Sayles tried his head shot.... Thing is...he can...but gets no usage doing it...and no reps in practice running any offensive plays...so when he gets inserted...he has had no reps...next to nothing installed...and we'll is a glorified running back Look at his starts in his rookie yr...Banjo Bowl beat down...His play in NFL where there is smaller windows and things can move faster...he was just fine It's Buck and Osh who are neutering him...almost ruining him...at least Lapo allowed him to do more..not much more but actually play some real QB If he was used right...and made to be not a purely pocket passer...but moved around...with threat to run...or throw....he'd be a real weapon...but we for whatever reason refuse to do it He has a stronger arm than ZC as well...

  26. piss poor attitude and character issues as well would blend right in.....Oullette too is a bust....benefitted from a superior oline in T.O....and is always hurt too....not good value for that 165k ...barely over 4 yards a carry aint cutting it for your high paid bell cow
    2 points
  27. character and attitude issues are my understanding...I also think a coach like Dyce wasn't best fit for a guy like that....basically walked on him like Dickie got abused out west
    2 points
  28. yeah...I think he wasnt 100 percent...and was also taking on too much....so looked like he was a weak link...as he was having to favor Lofton's side...and Kolo's....and was a basic pick your poison scenario...and we just didnt have enough fingers to stick in the dyke to stop the leaks I think tho with Yosh was his size slowly got bigger and bigger...and then the injuries and lack of mobility and quickness got amplified agree tho...I think we should use Schmeck as that 7th ol for jumbo and emergency on defence guy if Neuf isnt back....I also think we should stop being nice guys and go PR poaching and snag a upside National lineman off someones roster and insert them as the 7th....

  29. Yeah, that’s the type of versatility the club loves too. If he can keep it up in the heavy set he could carve out a nice career as 2-way depth, or (maybe jumping the gun a bit) even grow into a serviceable starting OL in a few years.
    2 points
  30. This. He looked great in the limited reps on heavy set. In pre season he showed much more motor than we saw from him last year, but it hasn’t translated to the field at all on D. I’d continue to carry him as the 7th ol and a general two way big body, but also have him work as an ol in practice. Especially at C. He’s not a huge guy by any means, but he’s a fairly average size Ni C. That motor and mobility could be huge at C, if he can get down snapping. the wheels fell off yosh pretty fast. It’s really a testament to how much worse our ok was last year than neufs play as well. He looks 100% toast to me. Larnel Coleman? He was cut a ways back. Randolph has been good at guard, and does have the mobility to play T, but he needs a lot of time and polish there.

  33. Ok I found the Facebook post where I originally read about the new restaurant where someone said it was going to be a classy piano bar. It's called Belle's Kitchen & Music Hall , after google searching it does not really show much outside of another forum mentioning that the name was trademarked by the family that owns Princess Auto. I could not see anything about it being a Piano Bar, so maybe it will be a pub with live music? That would make more sense to me. I'd be just happy if it was a place that made fresh food and non generic re-heated frozen crap that you get at the chain restaurants.

  34. Same reason buck doesn’t call plays to counter pressure, why he gets away from running the ball for upwards of a half at a time, why he doesn’t call iso fades or high percentage one on one plays for lawler in the red zone, or even the 20 yard out that he and zach torched the league with previously, or why he has gotten away from the jet package this year, why he’s never made good use of our kr in the offence, why we continually run the same izr scheme even when teams play aggressive gap schemes, and I can keep going on all day with these. The worst being getting away from looks that work with great efficiency for no reason, having no progression play to work off what we do when teams adjust or wrinkles that can work from the same look but create another opportunity. He’s a limited oc, lapo is basically the entire extent of his coaching tree and scheme work. He hasn’t grown as a play caller since he took over at all. The best OCs even those locked into singular styles constantly evolve and bring in new wrinkles. All of bucks wrinkles are lapos old ones. His fall back is the same to. We thought we would get a guy with lapos floor and high ceiling, and in stead we got lapo with no ceiling. I’d be surprised if they didn’t look at a qb, but it’ll probably just be for tc next year. No rookie mid season will help any way. I like the ceiling with Wilson and grangers raw tools. But Wilson didn’t look close to ready. I’d trust him to run short yardage and no more.

  41. Wasting roster spots seems to be a thing here tho....so good question...and who knows I think if they let Strev use the playbook...he would be fine...a QB won't linger around as long as Strev did..especially an undrafted one with no ability to run a playbook I think we just got so fascinated and overwhelmed with his running ability that's all our coaches see...I've said for a few yrs now I have doubts about some our coaching and how they see and assess talent Nailed it

  42. Imo, he’s the easiest guy to game plan a counter for because of his usage. He could run like prime Mike vick, and if the other team knows he’s gonna run when he’s in and it’s the same 3 runs they’re gonna stop him. Which is what we see, every one crashes the box especially on qb movement/ hand off action. Strevy may or may not be physically diminished. He doesn’t have a lot of usage, but has seen some hellacious hits. I’m sure he has some injury right now, but idk if it’s some thing that would stop a regular qb. Also you don’t need to be an elite athlete to be a highly effective runner at qb, with one good leg strevy is twice the athlete Fajardo is. But for a running qb to work you have to have the wrs pulling the secondary back creating gaps and angles on the edge. I’m a big believer in running qb offences. The key to their success is running smart with the qb. The qb should be running off tackle out side the box stuff ending with going out at the side line, and misdirection power type stuff that has him being the home run hitter. You can’t pound away with the qb like he’s Brady. Especially when you have a Brady as is. We should be pulling the third level down field with wrs, stretching tackle box guys side line to sideline with jet motion, pulling the gap players inside with Brady, and using strevy in rpo stuff to hit guys in motion with the ball quick and easy or blasting through seams when the D over commits to one area. Ott took a lot out of him. That game plan makes sense in a play off game with wind/weather. Not other wise. I don’t think we will know how hurt he is till the off season, when they announce he’s going for some surgery again.

  43. The secondary has also gelled since then, I don’t put it all on him. Early on the holm, ford, Kramdi group all struggled with executing the switch’s. that said I think kyrie is well past it. Guy was a beast on his game but just could never stay healthy. He’s a shorter term Jackson Jeffcoat. Except we have much better replacements for kyrie with the smaller package. If any thing we should be looking for the new prototype bigger sam at wil as well. I think that’s the future in the league in general.

  44. Buck it seems is good at prepping in advance...seems tho in game or having to adjust on the fly...he just can't do it quickly...it's not an isolated thing either..been ongoing
    2 points
  45. It hasn’t though. And that was literally his first ever pro game reps lol. He had one poor toss with pressure right on him, in a play where a completion would’ve lost yards. He ran the offence when he came in for zach the first time this year because we didn’t have a full install on the trash pack buck tries to force him to run.

  48. Follow the NCAAs lead. It's not just qbs the league should protect. No targeting anyone with the helmet. You do it? You're out. No warnings no 2nd chances. I'm sure the CFLPA wouldn't like it, but both sides talk about safety while being a part of a league that is pretty well the least safe in NA football.
