  1. Now is the time of year when we need to be running the ball as much as possible. Get the biggest heaviest nastiest bulldozers out there and just force it down everyone's throat.

Seems pretty clear that the ball is not out of bounds until it or the player holding it touches out of bounds. So the ball should have been spotted where it was when ZC landed out of bounds.

  3. It's not random... basically every game this year the refs embarrass themselves with ineptitude in some fashion. No one is saying "oh the refs always screw us over", it's more "the refs suck and they and the command centre regularly botch things". Like it's amateur hour in the CFL for reffing. Compared to say the NHL where I don't think the refs are inept, they just heavily engage in game management because that's what the NHL wants. I don't believe the CFL refs manage games, they're just useless.

  5. Some transactions from today. I am thinking Griffin and Feltmate will be added to the active roster. Wallace is due to come off the 6 game list so it's interesting to see Randolph was added to the active roster. 2024-10-16 WPG Weitz, Fabian LB G Cologne Centurions (ELF) TRF TO PRACTICE ROSTER Practice Roster 2024-10-16 WPG RANDOLPH, Kendall OL A Alabama ADD FROM PRACTICE ROSTER Game Roster 2024-10-16 WPG MCGHEE, Tyrique DB A Georgia TRF TO PRACTICE ROSTER Practice Roster 2024-10-16 WPG CHARBONNEAU, Max LB N Ottawa TRF TO PRACTICE ROSTER Practice Roster

I agree that is not uniformly applied but that's consistent with CFL reffing. Nothing is consistently applied. But it does state CLEARLY "touches". Ah, crap, I probably just triggered the local attorney, CBA and rules expert. Good luck people.

  7. Excerpt from the Winnipeg Sun: “It’s [PK]} new to the guys here, because it is a little more aggressive,” Chynoweth said. Ahhhh music to my ears. I love love love aggressive PK's knowing the risks. If they score, they're going to earn it.

100%. This sport has a real problem in this country and it's on full display each week. The reffing is horribly embarrassing. Pretending this isn't a real problem is very weird. And, it's one of drivers making the CFL unwatchable.

  9. Griffin was scratched (due to injury) before game time and was replaced in the line-up with McGhee. They also only dressed 6 olineman so Randolph would make it 7 if there is no one coming off for the oline.

  10. I think some here are chatting about the current standard of reffing across the league regardless of who wins or loses. Much different discussion than ‘reffing is why we lost’.

  11. Wallace has also been taking full practices, but they might keep him on the ir to end the year.

  12. Yeah, I have no idea how they determined Kelly was the best QB last week unless they considered the fact he was going against the Bombers' defence. Harris had the best stats of the week going 25/30 for 271 and 2 TDs.

  13. Pretty sure I read people here trashing the reffing in that game too... and I read people trashing the reffing against the elks when we smoked them too. And I see it in game threads for games not involving the Bombers.... this is a recurring thing thay has happened for multiple seasons. You'd know that if you paid attention rather than just showing up for a drive by after an Argo win.

  18. Not sure how they figure Kelly did anything of note but whatever.

  19. You misunderstand my comment about the camera angle. What I'm saying is that the camera angle that they have showed that the ball was clearly 1 yard further up field from where they spotted it when his knee touched. The fact that the camera angle is where it is, indicates that the ball was even a little further ahead than that, so the spot of the ball was at least a yard short of where he got it, but it should have been spotted a full yard further up field based on the angle that they do have.

  20. Looks that way. Maybe shoring up our SY unit too that literally sucked as well.

The league really needs to stop trying to tweak the rules every offseason and focus more on improving the officiating on the rules they do have already. It's quite frankly a joke how incompetent the referees are in the cfl.

  26. 203 yards passing to me ain’t deserving of player of the week status. That’s garbage nfl QB numbers. I mean was Matt Nichols named star of the week every time he put up 210 yards

  27. I think they gave it to him based off that one play, where Willie had him dead to rights and he got past and scrambled for the 1st. I only think Kelly played well if you compare his game to the past 2 months of QBs playing us. Agree with @SpeedFlex27 Both our lines sucked and that was the difference between winning or losing. Also missing Griffen was a bigger deal than anyone really mentioned imo. He’s been a difference maker when he’s on. Griffen is what most of us purport Brian Cole to be.

  31. Mine at home while watching the Bombers or Jets play is: Family members with their confused looks: Why are you angry? The Bombers (insert Jets as appropriate) are winning! My answer: Incoherent muttering involving my 'expert feedback' on how their play could be better followed up with 'until that bigger boned person sings I'm never happy nor comfortable!' I really need to give up sports.

It's what fans do. If it wasn't officiating it would be something else. As was mentioned earlier, the last memory of this game was a controversial call so that stands out and ends up being the main talking point. If that one play wasn't as close as it was, I don't think we'd be talking about it this much. We'd be talking about Buck's play calling or our o-line play ( both of which were getting roasted during this game). There's never a shortage of complaints to be made.

That’s fair. That being said, what is there to complain about regarding the officiating in this particular game? A couple of close calls that literally could have gone either way? That’s just silly.

    Argos at Bombers Chat

Disagree. We were just on an 8 game win streak but you're delusional if think there wasn't any complaining about officiating during that time. Go back and read some GDT's and you'll see it happens win or lose. If you are expecting objectivity from fan boards, that's your mistake.

  38. Sure. Sure- one yard extra for a touch down instead of a ToD would have squared away that game, or two made and not missed field goals- sure sealed away the game. But saying the refs had NOTHING to do with the outcome... that is insane. The key is to outplay the capacity of the officials ability to affect the outcome. Refs are going to **** the bed on many calls (for both sides), it's silly to not recognize the officials as a facet of the outcome of games.

  39. The ball is Out of Bounds when a player in possession of the ball touches a Sideline, Sideline in Goal, Dead Line or the ground or any other object on or beyond these lines. Pretty straight forward actually. Player in the air the ball is out wherever the player is deemed to be down... so question is, you spot at the players knee or where the ball is? Cause that's the entire issue with spotting the ball. Sometimes it's the ball when a player reaches, but sometimes it's where the player goes down. Consistency from officials. To a man everyone here has said the offense was dog **** and Castillo sucked... that doesn't mean we can't also say the refs sucked too.

The world would be a much better place if we all tried to be a little more objective. It is not a dumb take. If the Bombers played even slightly better, they would have won. End of story. The refs had nothing to do with the outcome, and not a single one of us has the evidence to show that any of the calls made should have been overturned.

  44. Yeah. I get why the bombers challenged it. And it was a bad spot. But we just don’t have the tools to make an educated change like that in the cfl. The cfls challenge system hasn’t really evolved since it was first put in. The nfl has crazy angle and the ability to pick exactly the angle they need to see. They can’t even get the td sneak play right, how could they ever get a call like that right? The need for infrastructure to support the challenge system is dire. We don’t even have a good angle square to the goal line from the end zones. For spots, I think the future is the chip in the ball. But short of that they need to do some thing. Rapid stills, drones programmed to keep in view the ball and the yard marker, that stays square to the side line, a freaking frame by frame camera some thing. The worst part of this game isn’t even the difference in a win or loss for us or the argos. It isn’t even the perception of ineptitude of the league officiating. It’s that all the fans watched this should be thrilling end only to see the worst of what the league has to deal with. All year every spot in every single game is a game of plus or minus 1.5 yards. A few outlier times I’ve seen 2 plus yard errors. And I’m not talking forward progress or difference between knee and elbow. Im talking maximum forward progress spot plus 2 and times and the bottom of the feet minus a yard and a half. Apathy is the greatest threat to the league. And the greatest force behind apathy towards the league, is our reffing, discipline, and command centre.

I haven't rewatched it on tv, but from where I was sitting in the stands, it seemed pretty clear that the guy had Collaros wrapped up and then grabbed the back of his collar to bring him down on the sack. I was shocked at the time that a horse collar wasn't called. As the play went down and the game ended, it was reminiscent of the non-PI call on the pick 6 that basically ended the last game against Toronto.

  46. The PR increases by 5 people for a 30 day window and then reduces by 5, at the club's option of when they choose that window to be open, between Sept.5 and November.8th. If we opened our window a few days after the NFL cuts that 30 days expiry would coincide with the cuts we saw the other day. The PR does expire at season's end but the 30 day expanded PR window can end anytime from Oct. 4 - Nov. 8 and if clubs have used the expanded PR, like we do every year, then they must reduce numbers at the time the 30 day window expires. PRs go from 12 to 17 players with an extra NAT necessary in those 5 if the club already has bare minimum NATs on the PR. It's all on CFLdb.

I was actually saying during the (very long) review that they could spot this 2 yards short of a 1st or half a yard beyond it and I would not credibly be able to say they were definitively wrong.
