  3. Refs make mistakes that directly lead to points (or points taken away) it's a pretty big deal. Consider our 2 games against the Argos which could likely be the difference between hosting the West Semi or the West Final. Consider the Ottawa-Sask game that ended in a tie that was a complete clusterfuck of officiating errors in the OT. Kind of the entire reason that the Command Centre exists. If they can't calibrate to have the Command Centre intervene and make the right call with everything at their disposal these days, get rid of it and let the refs on the field know they have to do a better job because they have no margin for error (the CC isn't going to intervene to fix their mistakes).

  9. If you pause at 45:47 the ball is pretty clearly in. Ball just has to touch the front of the plane. He doesn't have to stay in, he just has to break plane with ball once. Same time right down the line on replay at 46:42. If 25 can't see the ball there he's not looking in the right spot. CC needs to be able to make that call though.

Interesting take. I don’t see any evidence that Wilson crossed the line, personally. Maybe he did, but I don’t see how it could have been overturned based on the video we saw. 🤷 I understand where you are coming from. Perhaps I got a little agressive in defending my point of view.

  14. I think the CFL refs need far more training and pay. NFL Refs have off-season jobs, CFL Refs have in-season full time jobs, including gamedays sometimes. With the lack of training and time to concentrate on officiating, the skill level will never be close. I’d still say the oline play was by far the biggest factor in the Bombers losing that game, with missing 2 FGs being second. The third down call at the end I thought was wrong on the field, by rule, but (thanks to TSN) the camera angles couldn’t provide indisputable evidence to overturn. I have less of an issue with that one. However though. I’d argue that the Terry Wilson was over on goal line play was a horrendous call both on the field and by the command centre. You can see his helmet and the nose of the ball break the plane at 45:43 and again from closer at 46:37 of the video. I have an issue with this, as it completely changed momentum, and the dynamic of the entire game. This (imo) was a huge factor (but not the biggest) in the result of the game. Mike O’Shea himself had the same thoughts on the coaches show. Not even an implication, he flat out said “he was in” O’Shea very, very rarely makes definitive statements like that, especially regarding officiating. For example, he demurred in the same situation when DT had asked him about the terrible non-PI call at the end of the (other) Argo game and to me, that call was even more blatantly incorrect. Pretty telling imo

  18. The guys who need to retire who are injured are done imo. Ba, kyrie, biggie will all pack it in imo. I’d be stunned if any got a deal and came back. Jake turns 34 this year, and I think the only chance we are actually rid of him is if the wear n tear convince him to move on, unfortunately. Neuf probably should but probably won’t unless he’s really hurt. His career likely ends being carted off the field. Zach, I think retires if we win or if he is putrid in the play offs, or if ol retire. Hes been taking a lot more hits the last almost 2 seasons. And he will be 37 next year. Bryant, maybe the health scare prompts him to call it, other wise honestly he can do what ever. He’s still easily good enough to start. Demski Willy and kola aren’t gonna retire. And we aren’t moving on from the guys who don’t retire. Coaching wise, the only chances at major changes is buck getting a hc job (he shouldn’t) or if hall decides to retire (don’t think he will.) other wise I think we bring in a qb coach / offensive qc to support buck, and reshuffle the D coaches. Maybe bring in a new front 6 coach.

  19. Last loss the week after a bye looks like Montreal week 15 in 2019. Like 11 straight wins in games after bye. Falling to 2nd after the win streak would be pretty catastrophic. Idk what it would take to see greater change than what we will see due to age and young guys stepping up.

I've tired myself out here and know I don't have it all right here. I don't think that's possible. I mean, of course there will be exceptions. But the skyrocketing cost of food and other consumer goods, make increased theft inevitable. When poverty rates are already high, you get the perfect storm. In Manitoba and in other places as well.

  22. On a Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan site comprised of some pretty hardcore lifelong unwavering Blue Bomber supporters who for the most part understand the game at varying levels and acknowledge when homerism is influencing their perspectives, you come in hot and fairly aggressively tell people to calm down there is nothing to complain about. Then predictably when you get push back from those aggressive comments you clutch your pearls and make comments that the world would be such a better place if we could all be a bit more objective like you and for us to know how you post with integrity. This approach frustrates me greatly and not just for sports it is the main reason imho that our political threads here have been locked down. Feel free to hit the rolly eye or confused emoticon. Go Bombers.

  23. @Yourface Maybe there isn’t anything wrong with what you said, maybe there is. I suppose it’s (like officiating) subjective to the knowledge level of the one reading/making the comments. Call me an idiot all you want, I’m not the one suggesting there’s little difference between the skill level of NFL and CFL officiating. That was a ridiculous statement and deserved to be mocked. In addition, you’re probably trolling but if not, you’re really coming across as a horses ass, especially for a new poster.

My answer: Incoherent muttering involving my 'expert feedback' on how their play could be better followed up with 'until that bigger boned person sings I'm never happy nor comfortable!' I really need to give up sports.

Disagree. We were just on an 8 game win streak but you're delusional if think there wasn't any complaining about officiating during that time. Go back and read some GDT's and you'll see it happens win or lose. If you are expecting objectivity from fan boards, that's your mistake.

Source? National Post in August had Nova Scotia 1st and BC second, with Manitoba in 3rd. Their data show that yes it is a problem here but it is also absolutely happening in many places. We are one of 4 provinces to have an increase of 70% or more over the last 2 years. Incidents per 100,000 people: Nova Scotia: 676.97 - 2022 had an increase of 115% while 2023 was up 17% (232% increase from 2021) BC: 568 (2022 was up 18% & 2023 was up 12%) (30% increase from 2021) MB: 542 (2022 rate was up 37% & 2023 was up 37%) (74% increase from 2021) AB: 483.57 (No data provided for 2022 but 2023 was down 5%) SK: 446.61 (2022 was up 42%, 2023 was up 28%) (70% increase from 2021) NFL: 421 (2022 was up 55%, 2023 was up 0.74%) (56% increase from 2021) ON: 395 (2022 was up 41%, 2023 was up 30%) (71% increase from 2021) NB: 226 (2022 was up 16%, 2023 was up 3%) (19% increase from 2021) PEI: 191 (2022 was down 0.85%, 2023 was up 36%) (35% increase from 2021) QC: 155.19 (2022 was up 27%, 2023 was up 21.5%) (48.5% increase from 2021) https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/shoplifting-canada

  41. Griffin was scratched (due to injury) before game time and was replaced in the line-up with McGhee. They also only dressed 6 olineman so Randolph would make it 7 if there is no one coming off for the oline.

  43. Baseball actually has amazing umps. Since they’ve been audited every game the Accuracy has been exceptional save for the odd angel Hernandez type. Year one the average was 82% right on balls/strikes. This year has been 94%. The nfl is reasonable consistent, and their review is 100000x better. It’s often the battle cry of the filthy casual, “refs big dumb dumbs!” They aren’t out to get any one, or specifically screwing any team on a regular basis. They are simply horrid in terms of consistency and frequently fail spectacularly in a few areas. Holding calls, dbs jaming more than 5 yards down field, WRs blocking down field, no yards, spotting the ball, stopping the play on forward progress, and illegal block especially on special teams are all Mickey Mouse level. Watch any state contender hs football team in the us and you will see handily better reffing.

  45. Yeah. I get why the bombers challenged it. And it was a bad spot. But we just don’t have the tools to make an educated change like that in the cfl. The cfls challenge system hasn’t really evolved since it was first put in. The nfl has crazy angle and the ability to pick exactly the angle they need to see. They can’t even get the td sneak play right, how could they ever get a call like that right? The need for infrastructure to support the challenge system is dire. We don’t even have a good angle square to the goal line from the end zones. For spots, I think the future is the chip in the ball. But short of that they need to do some thing. Rapid stills, drones programmed to keep in view the ball and the yard marker, that stays square to the side line, a freaking frame by frame camera some thing. The worst part of this game isn’t even the difference in a win or loss for us or the argos. It isn’t even the perception of ineptitude of the league officiating. It’s that all the fans watched this should be thrilling end only to see the worst of what the league has to deal with. All year every spot in every single game is a game of plus or minus 1.5 yards. A few outlier times I’ve seen 2 plus yard errors. And I’m not talking forward progress or difference between knee and elbow. Im talking maximum forward progress spot plus 2 and times and the bottom of the feet minus a yard and a half. Apathy is the greatest threat to the league. And the greatest force behind apathy towards the league, is our reffing, discipline, and command centre.

I haven't rewatched it on tv, but from where I was sitting in the stands, it seemed pretty clear that the guy had Collaros wrapped up and then grabbed the back of his collar to bring him down on the sack. I was shocked at the time that a horse collar wasn't called. As the play went down and the game ended, it was reminiscent of the non-PI call on the pick 6 that basically ended the last game against Toronto.
