  1. The idea than anyone the purports themselves as a Bomber fan is here talking about how great Chad Kelly is; just leaves me feeling dirty in a way I don't enjoy...
    8 points
  2. I'm not sorry for the way I feel. Kelly should never have been allowed to resume his career in the CFL, he shouldn't be "on pace" for anything in this league. I recognize that other platers with criminal records have been allowed to continue to play but Kelly violated league policy within the confines of the team facility. I don't believe if this was any team but the Argos the league would have allowed him to play.

  4. Nobody plays at a HOF level with only 25 games. That doesn't make any sense. HOF level is doing that for many years. It is about being great for a long time. Not great for a season and a half.

    Bombers at Als lead up

According to Tait's piece today there was plenty of Kelly at Safety.... They're probably just trying some stuff just in case... "...Taylor’s addition comes at a time with Brandon Alexander out a hand injury — he’s currently sporting a cast — and second-year man Jake Kelly manning the safety position. Taylor was shadowing Kelly on Sunday, but could also play halfback, dime or even corner with his 71 games of CFL experience with four teams, including 2019-22 with the Blue Bombers and two Grey Cup championships..."

  6. Flutie played at a time when you had Matt Dunigan (HOF), Damon Allen (HOF), Danny McManus (HOF), Tracy Ham (HOF), Kent Austin (6000 yard passing season, 5000 yard passing season, 3 4000 yard passing seasons), Jeff Garcia (4 time West All Star QB, 4 time pro bowler in the NFL), David Archer (6000 yard passing season) and that's just QBs. Your statement that the talent was lower is foolish. Much higher caliber of QB and QB play in that era. As for your statement that he's on pace for HOF career, wrong again. Nice record but its more about his team than Kelly. Plus its way to early to judge a player on a season and a half. I give you a QB who in his first two years starting put up 8.689 passing yards, 61 td passes, won over 20 games in those two seasons. Not in the CFL HOF. For fun, name him.

  7. Correlation is not causation. Flutie was a beast that could carry any team. Kelly has been a long for the ride half the time.

  10. Montreal is gonna send pressure and try to get after collaros and force bad throws... that's what it comes down to. Bombers keep Zach upright and let him have time to throw it'll be fine. Faj will spin around and run around and who knows what else if he plays. If it's the rookie well... bombers been good this year keeping mobile qbs from being a problem.
    3 points
  11. Honestly I couldn't tell you what fluties win/loss record looked like... he is thr best to ever play up here because his impact on the field was ******* obvious. None of the qbs that have come through since have been anywhere near the player Flutie was.

  12. I learned over the weekend that the WF is the same day as one of my favorite bands concert (Death From Above 1979, at the Park). I hope the Bombers make it a home game cause that's lining up to be an epic day for me!!!

Idk how pissed they’ll be tbh. They coasted hard into this game, might be pissed might be sleep walking. I hope they bring it and we have a good hard game that elevates the level of play going into the play offs.

  14. Bridges at half scares the hell out of me. I’d rather us keep Kelly at safety and leave Nichols where he is. It took the first third of the year for the secondary to really start communicating better and gel .. let’s not screw it up now.

  15. I watched most of all of em this weekend, but I only really cared about the BC/Montreal game... And that ended being a nothing burger. The offseason is long enough... I'm not going to waste a second when they're in season. I just ******* love this league...

  16. I expect to see the Bombers best game. It's basically a playoff game for us. If Montreal can match it, all the power to them.

I was just going to respond the same... it's super easy for Montreal to brush off that last game... and the Bombers are a pissed off team after blowing a chance to clinch first and will want to send a message going into the playoffs and ensure the west final is in winnipeg. Toronto is to me the odds on pick to come out of the east. Rising at the correct time.
    3 points
  18. They've seemed pretty casual since the end of August. To the point they are getting dinged up. Not sure they can just flip that switch again. Think them and Toronto are in opposite spots from last year heading into playoffs.

  19. Gotta say it's pretty stupid for the CFL to have these late season bye weeks. They've basically made the league irrelevant this week as NFL gets into full swing, NHL gets going, even MLB heading into World Series. Should be no byes from October through the end. They got two guys who played but missed on Labatte.

VAJ always puts up the big numbers in the cozydome ... too bad for him but he'll have to win November games in Sask and Wpg without much of a run game in order to get back to the dome for the Grey Cup...

  22. Di'Anno had a troubled life and a painful life, Maiden blindsided him when they fired him but he was more punk than metal and bringing Bruce into the band made them the band they are today.

  25. well...really the Als were best last yr....Argo's yr before....and truthfully we were lucky as hell to come out with a 2021 win too....we had good records in season...and were able to gloss over some faults...but many of those same faults are still there....but are talent isn't...and our record reflects it...we have a lotta work to do despite all the back slapping and glad handing of our team...ie...Coaches....we have transitioned a bit, but anyone with half a brain knows we were forced to due to injury and if they didn't occur we would have made next to no change....We squeezed every drip outta some of our players and are still trying to now, and our coaching failed us in consecutive Cups....and I have not a lot of faith that they won't again this playoffs....but we will soon find out who won last 2 cups?....making them the be st???....no? for all the accolades...thats a reflection on coaching and prepardeness sadly...and hope I wrong but I have a unsettling feeling that come play-offs....some of it will reer it's ugly face again hopefully.....but talk is cheap if you don't have the tools to enforce things sounds like we actually doing some coaching with urgency and have closed the country club aspect

  26. Collaros' best attribute in the 2021 cup was that he didn't shrink and give up after a couple of INTs. He just kept chucking it and got us back in the game. Threw us into a hole and then threw us out of it.
    2 points
  27. He’s not on track for the hof. he’s been good, but he’s in the same tier as virtually every starting tier qb in the cfl. 6800 yards 35 tds 23 ints in 26 games. 7200 yards 32 tds 20 ints in fajardos first two years as a starter. Ricky ray had almost 8k 59 and 22. And that was splitting games with maas his first year. 2nd and 3rd year are 10k+ 60 37. Printers in less than his first 20 starts had 6700 44 and 16 with 800 rushing yards and 11 tds on the ground. Nealon Greene put up 5k 36 18 with 1600 rush yards and 6 rushing tds in 26.

If the Bombers get a real test against Montreal, and particularly if the home team wins, it ought to be a great dress rehearsal for the playoffs, and I think they need that as smelling salts.

Montreal is not great against the run. I need to stick to it. They don't mind giving up rush yards but, like us tighten up inside the 25

  33. I have no ignorance of what's going on. I just don't feel the need to rehash criticisms or praise over and over again. It is a fruitless exercise that ends up just annoying everyone. I tend to skew towards positivity when it comes to MOS but not over the top. I just don't feel that the mistakes he has made have outweighed all the great coaching he has also brought to the table. I doubt you find many Bomber fans who do, even those that are very knowledgable about the game. I also don't make outlandish claims to justify my opinion. I respect your opinion a lot Booch but sometimes the hyperbole in your comments is over the top and it ends up taking away from your argument instead of adding to it.

This is a tough game to gauge Mtrl......they have first, it means nothing in one respect...on the flip side they just got embarrassed by BC.....do we see a high flying, physical leave it all out there Mtrl squad of mostly starters to try and get the mojo and winning vibe back...or do we see a Mtrl squad trying to keep fresh but not get knicked up and use this to get some back-ups live bullets in case they need them come playoffs..... I believe they lost their starting right tackle last game, so injuries will be fresh to mind with them....but so will the feeling of BC dissecting them and stuffing them from scoring over and over.... Regardless, we are rested, "mostly" healthy and we better be ornery especially along both lines after what happened before the bye. IF we lose it makes our rod much more difficult...so let's just win One thing I can guarantee I will be annoyed and peed off by those damn horns before the first is over......

Montreal doesn't need the win, but they will be looking for a palate cleanser after their trip to BC. We'll see if they can get themselves straightened out or if the Bombers will just go balls out to earn the Western playoff bye. When the Als were clicking earlier this year, and I suppose beginning late last season, they kind of had a Bret Hart vibe for me. Not the most imposing talent that you ever saw and certainly not the one that you'd pick on-paper to win a Grey Cup... but they executed nearly flawless football and just kept doing it without making any mistakes their opposition could exploit. Not sure they'll find that rhythm again... or if it'll be enough to get them back to the big game with the Boatmen rounding into form. I think Winnipeg takes it on Saturday and sends Montreal into the EDF on a 4 week stretch without a win.

  38. Yep. I think it’s a better statement to his talent that he got a long term 2nd cfl look off camp/pre season with out regular season action. Not many guys get that look any more. We’ve also done pretty well scooping guys like this at lber and on D in general. I could see him getting a look in the last game to evaluate who would be better to carry between he and notree, especially if ayers isn’t gonna be back. I am glad they are bolstering our depth at the key di spots with the injuries we have. I also wouldn’t be stunned if he’s just here for depth and to push the guys we have at lber.

  39. Yeah. They shouldn't have multiple byes in last 4 weeks of season. Just drowned right out by NHL, NFL and MLB.

  41. Plus- there are a lot of weak teams this year that Kelly feasted on.
    1 point
  42. Yeah he’s got great strength, especially for a guy under 220. That ability to explode and get off a block has been sorely missing for a while here though some of the other young guys have flashed it. I think this is/will be the new prototype for lbers in the cfl. Just as sams have been becoming bigger guys 205-215 who can play in the box, wils are becoming rotational or interchangeable. I think even macs will evolve to be more guys like ayers/cole. Who can drop into cover, pass rush, get off a block, and scrape side line to side line. I don’t recall the last time we held the team back for the bye week. It’s a great move, and I like that they mixed in team building stuff but also had a practice.
