  1. Is the secondary not part of the D?

  2. Milligan was better.

    All things considered...

All this stuff is just excuses... fact is they opted to play an injured player rather than give a healthy player the chance. They need to own that decision as a coaching staff.

  4. And yet our D was ******* good all season long... there's more than one way to build a good defense. Quite frankly the problems or this team is that for allllllll the money they spend on O it was **** for most of the season. Point fingers there not the D because the D was the only reason last years team did anything.

  5. Salary wise it's going to be a bigger spend but I think Mitchell is a bit more dynamic. Underrated kick returner IMO. Really like this.

  6. I'd rather they pay Holm decently and convince him to stay long-term along with Nichols to maintain core consistency in the secondary, rather than spend on a high-flyer like Ford who will eventually leave to play elsewhere.

  7. Our defence was excellent last year. I do have a problem with this strategy against shaky QBs tho. Would have liked if we used it less in the GC.

  8. No problem, just use BC math.

  9. Seems more likely just a sign of Sunderland being with us now...

  10. Oshea says all guys give a chance to win...and all are starter material...so is he lying.... And the mindset of "oh gee our QB goes down we have xero chance to win if we replace him....when he cant even grip a ball" is the lamest ecuse/reasoning ever....hero's are made when given a shot...many times in the most unlikely circumstabces Dolegala was no raw rookie.....he would have gave us a chance...and if he didnt whyy did we keep him and release Scott?....who got a ring outta the deal Thats where coaching wins you games...and that yr long coaching and developing...not just rolling along staus quo and then when **** hits fan end up screwed All Wilson needed to do was play within himself...use his legs when needed....which would have opened stuff up fro BO and not force anything...Smae with Dolegala.....ZC couldnt throw...was no threat on the ground....and has a real bad penchant for forcing things...if our back ups arent good enough to come in and slavage a game...get some that can....but we been force fed for yrs they are here cause they give us a chance to win if they have to step in....and they are all starters....as per Osh...so what is it...they good enough?...are you full of ****?...do you believe your own chatter?....I'm surprised the Argo'sdidnt roll out Pervy Boy on one leg....if thats the case..our starter is out we're screwed....considering we rolled out 4 guys in 2023 on basically 1 leg....another instance of not believing your own B.S about every one is a starter and here cause they give us a chance to win

  12. Lawler and Schoen will both be back....I like the Mitchell signing as the 3rd option and if his head is on straight and this will be the place to accomplish that then a score for us Lawler has had 2 unfortunate season of derailment.....seeing the folks rag on him saying he wasnt what he was is kind of funny...He's a talent that comes thru very rare...18 games with him....Along with Schoen...Demski and now Mitchell....all proven commodities and BO he will light it up To even assume that we gonna roll into 2025 sans Lawler....with a Schoen who is still a big question mark.... Mitchell....and then a rookie??...or some cheap cast off from elsewhere to go with Demski is pretty foolish thinking in a Cup hosting yr. Mitchell likely is on a very team friendly deal in a re-prove himself yr....and if he returns to his form when he first burst on the scene here...lookout... we have salaries to pare easily....and certain guys who re-upping makes no fiscal sense... yup...Schoen wont be getting paid top 5 in the league....and likely he wont even be on the books first 6 games anyway...Lawler isnt gonna hold us over the coals either...he's happy and secure here...found his spot....pay him fair and dont Jeffcoat him I have a inkling Jackson will be our O.C as well....from what I hear there are 2 guys at the front of the line...him being one.....I do know tho it isnt gonna be an internal hire Schoen has no choice.....has to show he's still capable and he prob gonna be 6 gamed anyway to start As mentioned above...Lawler loves it here...it will be worked out...if it hasnt already and just isnt announced Lawler also has history with Jackson as an O.C and was utilzed nicely by him as the pass game coordinator

  13. exacly....you can just as good or better withan import at half the price tag...we dont need that spot as Canadian....we play moe than we need to anyway....and in doing so, if they are qualityenough to be a starter...then they aint cheap....double edged sword We have big money tied into BO...Biggish in Demski....Neufeld is likely par for the course for a vet canadian....We start one of Eli or Kolo (just puked i my mouth) and neither is breaking bank....Wallace should be given every opp to grab that left Guard spot on an entry level deal and a combo of Clercicus and Woli wont be breaking the bank as another Canadian starter....there's 6 guys there that if anything will cost you about as much...maybe a lil less than any other team really when you think about it We need 1.....make that clear 1 Canadian on defence...thats it.....We use a Canadian SAM....Like to force feed a Canadian DTackle/interior guy tho this yr with Lawson back that should be a bonus....and we used a Canadian at corner...one who will cost us a premium....and we already pay a obscene premium for Kramdi....which to me is poor allocation when any number of imports can offer u the same and likely more at again half the price basically.... We have a knack for scouting db's....we have Parker..Griffin..Nichols...Bridges already here for bargain price save for Nichols...Bonds is on entry....I see no need to pay large for Holm...Ford...Canadian or not as he isn't essential for us ratio wise...so we really need to find one...maybe 2 legit db talents to augment and have on PR Lose Holm....Ford...Thomas...Wilson...Biggie...and youb have about 600k to play with to fill those roles....and all can be filled easily with at least 175/200k to spare if your scouting is legit We have the ways and means to build a solid...actually deeper roster if we have the sense and sensibility to cut ties with big ticket...easily replaceable salaries/play I don't care where our all-stars come from....irrelevant....and all-stars dont always equate to championships....A team of 46 soldiers...all above avaerage and put in the position to succeed with 1...or 2 "all-stars" within them will 9 times outta 10 beat a team with 5..6..7...but garbage all around them hes gonna be 27 as the season starts...and at best viewd as a project down there....thats old for a guy in his position...from a school in canada....undrafted....un already unsuccesful....

  15. I’m surprised. When’s the last time we made a fa add like this or one before free agency? I don’t think we’d be after fa WRs, aside from bringing back lawler we haven’t done it in a while. Love love love this move. Fill the need for a dynamic kr and a great wr to replace Wilson. Pure upgrade imo. I would love to see lawler and schoen back as well. But if this ends up being a replacement for one that is understandable. Honestly I do agree. Finding the right guy to fit our vets and staff is big. As long as it’s done before the tampering period.

  16. Nope, O'Shea still hemming and hawing his days away, can't make up his mind. Mike O’Shea mum on timeline for Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ offensive coordinator hire “I like where we’re at (in the process),” O’Shea told reporters via videoconference on Monday. “(I’m) working on it, had some good conversations with guys, and just making sure I work through that process to discover what I need to discover and do it right.” “I don’t know that you rush this process. I think you work on it, you put your time in, and you come up with good answers and the right answers.” https://3downnation.com/2025/01/13/mike-oshea-mum-on-timeline-for-winnipeg-blue-bombers-offensive-coordinator-hire/ He'll be back.

  18. Mentioned in my hockey pool group chat.... Is this Mitchell signing an indication that maybe Jarious Jackson is the new OC?
    2 points
  19. I suspect he replaces Schoen or Lawler, high quality receiver at a cheaper price. Wilson is still on his ELC, they'll want to retain him for the length of that first contract.

  20. Great replacement for Wilson. Well done Kyle.

    All things considered...

How many people here think we stay with Collaros if Streveler was available? Imo, if anyone thinks that who was available behind Collaros wasn't a massive factor in this decision then they are being biased.

  22. If you're looking at it like you HAVE to replace an Allstar NAT, sure you don't let him walk. But I don't see the need to replace an allstar nat at that specific position. The cost compared to a replacement vs the realistic production just doesn't make sense imo. Spending a lot of cap space on a position like that would be a huge mistake. specifically because finding a field side corner has never really been an issue with this management. I don't expect it to start being one now. Keeping in mind that if he never started a single game last year our ratio remains fine...I just don't see the need unless his $$ makes sense.

  23. My biggest worry on losing Ford is losing an allstar calibre NAT. At any position you just can't let those walk.

  24. IMO we have some really high salary guys.... I get it we have had a "core" mostly together for a bit and have been to multiple GC's...that is expensive and guys deserve to get paid, while some may be higher than I would like to pay, if we didn't pay them what we are, a good chance someone else would. In saying this Zach and Brady take a very big chunk of the cap and Demski isn't exactly cheap either, IF we keep one or both of Lawler and Schoen....and we saw how bad Zach looked without them...now also subtract Ontario.... they will also take big chunks...admit it or not if we don't sign them someone else will near the top of the receiver pay scale, we don't have a cheap O line and Dobson won't come cheap either again either we pay-up or he will get it from someone else......We just saw Willie didn't come cheap, I would imagine unless we pull BC math we don't really have much to play with for a guy like Ford. I would really like to keep him, but I can't see a situation where another team won't make him the highest paid DB...and as good as he is I just don't believe we have the ability to pay him like that.......We have the "ratio breaker" high ticket guy with the top salary at his position already in Brady I just don't think we can afford the luxury of having a second......

  25. If you saw the Detroit Lions defense totally take apart the Minnesota Vikings high powered offense last week you'd recognize it was the same style D that we used in 2021 & 22. We didn't need to blitz. Our Front 7 dominated. We had a great front 4 & linebacking crew. We had Jefferson & Jeffcoat on the ends as well as Steve Richardson at DT & we intimidated other teams. Our secondary was the best in the CFL at the time because of the players playing in front of them. Now, we have no pass rush, average linebackers when Bighill doesn't play & below average when he does. We are just a shell of what we were. As a team, we spend all our money on offensive players to the point where we let our defense & return game just shrivel up. We have to rebuild our D. Get back to a more physical style of play.

The thing is, history very strongly indicates that ZC would have been seen as the only option. Quite frankly, I have no reason to believe otherwise.

  27. Tyrel... But yes. We absolutely can find a cheap American to play that spot (Walters regime is littered with quality DBs) but it's all about how you want to use your roster. Based on how this team finds DBs, I'm not sure that breaking the bank for a NI one is that important.... Certainly not as important as re-signing a local kid who is the best in the league at his position, regardless of nationality.

  31. I feel like someone is going to pay him to be their boundary corner.

  32. Yea....I think Ford was one of the top 5 defensive players overall in our conference. Add NAT to that and his loss would be huge.

  33. I can see both Lawler and Schoen being much cheaper this year than last so I am hopeful both return. One is coming off a signficant injury and is unlikely to be ready the first month of the season, and the other had decreased production and a 2nd consecutive year of significant time loss. I can't see how either would be making what they made before. However, the market will dictate I suppose. Not before Labor Day. Will be a welcome addition back tho.

  34. Yep same. And that he could be more than an all star db, he could be a dynamic game changer as a ball hawk. Db is certainly one of the more replaceable spots in general but even more so for us. It’s a tough spot for Walters n co.
    1 point
  35. Could be. Also could be Brock Sunderland likes him and pushed to add him. He would have been the GM that brought Mitchell into the league.

  36. Right but after getting cut and moving to a quality team it’s hard to imagine the salary is equivalent.

  37. I'd move on from Lawler if we could only pick one of him or Schoen. Rather have the consistent 12 yard guy than the one 50 yard bomb spectacular catch every half.

  38. I sure hope this is just a replacement for Wilson/Whitehead and not a replacement for Scheon or Lawler. I’m viewing this more as a placeholder with the hope that someone else beats him out in time.

As far as onfield reasons, collaros lost them that game. Wilson couldn't have done any worse but at least you're giving the team a chance.

Cuz Zach prob saved O’Sheas job a few years ago. Loyalty is a thing in sports. It costs lots of teams. It’s cost us a few times probably also.

  42. I hope you’re right, but he’s so clumsy and slow…. And he doesn’t make the most of his size, with physical play. Maybe he’ll grow to learn how to minimize his weak points and compensate for them, but I’m not so sure.

  43. Please ante up for Holm. He’s the total package imo. His style of play and demeanour brings so much to this team. He is not dime a dozen.

  47. Tis true...I have no faith tho that an unknown will get a true shot...and we just lean on broken down and inadequate stuff...we've seen that so g and dance before There no reason a fresh face can't come in and be impactful..this notion they all need a yr or 2 of seasoning is garbage I banged the Garbutt drum all 2023 yr he should have been given a shot...never happened...a yr on the inactive roster didn't make him arguably our best all.arpund de this yr...playing did Same this yr with Person...he is an even better player...actual true impact guy and was a legit NFL rush specialist projection but some teams wanted him to pack on weight and he didn't want to. Not worried about db ...Parker resigned tells me he is healthy and is prob our best db not named Nichols anyway...and with him..Griffin..Nichols.. and Bridges that's a darn good 4 to.choose from without even factoring in what the scouts find or free agency Paying large for a db when we already pay top dollar to Nichol and Kramdi...and Ford if we keep him which I think will be a reach is allocation too much money in a position group that should be one your cheapest sms wise
