  1. Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler … he found out it was my friend’s birthday coming up who loved live music and he offered to come play some songs at his birthday party. Sure enough, few weeks later, Woli was in my basement sitting around with us having some beers while he played the guitar. All-time guy. I’m sad to see him go.

  2. Not a fan of this move. A lot like the Janarion Grant issue last off-season. If you're all in to win in 2025 you can pay a guy like Wolitarsky that salary no problem. One of the biggest issues with the offense IMO without Wolitarsky and Schoen was that it lacked big and reliable targets. Collaros had to be damn near perfect to put the ball right on guys because we had a bunch of 6' under guys running around with Lawler or a guy like Wheatfall who had no clue what do to unless he was running right down the rail in man coverage. The reliability piece, the understanding what the defense is giving and where to be. How to get 2 yards after the catch instead of trying to race 3 guys to the sideline and losing 2 yards in the process, how to keep the sticks moving. Another piece to this is that it basically locks in that we have to start 3 Canadian OL. And at the moment we have two Canadian OL who have even been average CFL starters. If you're all in to win this year, you've kneecapped yourself.

  3. Stamps released a pair of their starting D-Line from last season including Mike Rose. Calgary has had a terrible D the last couple of seasons but one thing I’ve noticed is they do a decent job of getting at the QB. Rose is still a good player, I wonder if the Bombers would consider bringing him in.

  5. Sucks to lose Wolitarsky. Love that guy. However they likely see Clercius as having huge upside (he does imo) so are moving on. I'd divorce this decision from anything related to Thomas and just call it what it is.

  6. man....all i gotta say...Jake...vs Woli...who would you rather have?...and prob similar price points......we better have some insane Free Agency agenda as to me this off-season so far hasnt been overly positive with players...coaching...management

  7. Vaughters is almost the exact guy we need off the edge. Would be nice if he was 4-5 years younger.

  8. Next you'll be telling me not to blame Jake for the cold weather, my car not starting, climate change.....

  9. I had a bad feeling this might happen to Woli. Clercius did well enough in subbing for him while injured to get that NAT WR position I guess. Just guts me that Woli won’t be around. One of my favourite BBs.

  10. That's a damn shame. I loved Wolitarsky as a player and always felt he was misused in our offense over the years. Thank you for your years in Blue and Gold!

  11. Can’t believe they released Woli… I personally will not miss him converting every bloody 2nd down possible against the Riders. Only 29, he’s a no brainer signing for another team.

  14. No need to be rash. Negativity for the sake of negativity. There's nothing to base this on

  15. It does seem weird to me. The only thing I can think of is that his injury isn't progressing and that Clercius has taken his spot. Dollars-wise it seems like a fine deal.

  16. How is Woli at $110,000 a guy we need to move on from? That's a great deal for a starting NI.

  17. Jake making any salary is an overpay. We cut the guy 6 years ago and nobody else wanted him.

  18. For a QB who relies heavily on trusted vets...and almost under performs without them...and has said himself that Woli is "that guy" for him in many situations...pooching him seems like a bad decision...he would have been perfect also to.mentor Clercius along as well...we saw huge drop off when Woli was missing with Zc performance We saw nothing but better play when Thomas sat out plays...

  22. I am shocked Woli is no longer in Blue and Gold. I echo @Booch comment about keeping Woli over Jake. Seriously does Jake have pictures of Walters and a goat or something?

  24. Clercius is younger, cheaper with good hands and was a very physical player after he got the ball, punishing would-be tacklers. I liked Wolitarsky but...

  25. pretty sure that was happening regardless of Woli's 112k.....to rplace him with another Canadian that has some experience...u paying the same anyway....and to go raw rookie right behind Clercius as the 3 nationals with Demski...thats not a very confident group...especially with a guy like ZC who sucks using new talent. our O sucked more due to scheme...and a declining ZC...not who was catching balls so much....like mentioned before...any pro QB should be able to hit a guy running a route as per the design.....if the design sucks....or the QB is missing...it not on the recievers....and I pretty sure the whole lot of them were not running the wrong routes all the time...over and over...all in unison....and if they were...then again...thats totally on the coaches not correcting it...or finding better players Jake is making over 100k....Which could have gone to Woli....Saved for part of Ford....Used as part of a high end free agent....and if you think Osh will release him after TC you are very mistaken...He will be slotted in as a "starter" and talked as such in all the training camp articles...Osh will Osh.....100 percent a garuantee Biggie...that decision was made for us as he wont be ready right out of the gate...that is the ONLY reason...If they signed Jake...and Wilson who cant play a full season then Biggie was a lock....fate stepped in and made that decision for us 10 bucks says tho that if no-one picks him up...we do by mid season and he will displace a promising new guy

  27. Players are from all over. Lots of guys play in cities they aren't from. There is no long term planning any more. It is contract to contract.

  28. Wish Woli the best....he was the kinda player fans just liked, seemed like an awesome spirit he did.... I am unsure on the Jake and Kyrie re-ups, but believe we made the correct decision on Biggie I am really curious to see what our receivers and o-line will look like...and what the market is on some of these guys...it seems receiver is trending down pretty drastically...but all it takes is one overpay to re-skew it

  29. It’s not like we are deep at ni wr either. We’ve been starting two ni WRs, with basically 1 back up. Big Kev can do it very thing woli was doing on O, and has a ton of up side. But Demski isn’t a spring chicken either. Confounding move to say the least. only things I can think is 1) they want to flip the ratio and go 1 ni wr, 2) penny pinching like others have said. 110k isn’t peanuts, but with a 70k ish base rookie salary it isn’t tremendous savings either. This has got to spell doom for a guy like Augustine. We needed to move on from long in the tooth over priced vets but a huge list of guys should’ve come before woli. I love Demski, hes had his two highest production years back to back with good health. But if we need to save cash his 225k+ could be better served else where. He isn’t the jet sweep guy any more, or the guy blocking down field he used to be. No fault of his own, it’s his usage and wear n tear catching up. We’ve seen that with guys like lawler and schoen out, Demski doesn’t become a no1 wr. Hes a damn good no3 ni wr. But we are paying him no1 money. Expecting to see more of this now though. We are clearly cutting space to add big in free agency. Don’t think we were 40k away from what we needed. More will come im sure. Also certain with this move that we aren’t gonna spend like the B.C. lions against the cap this year. I’m the biggest Dobson booster here. He isn’t. He isn’t even close to worth that kind of money. I’m a big believer in what he can turn into and how good he will be this year. Last year was his first season starting and our ol was in shambles. But he isn’t desjarlais or in that tier. He’s not in the tier below drew either. Drew made 260k. Big Stan made like 176k. Chung got 202k, which is a bit of an over pay. I wouldn’t give Dobson 200k. 150-180k with some incentives on a multi year deal, I’d take that gamble. North of 200k he should kick rocks.

  30. I feel like somebody needs to go to Walters and ask him to explain how we move on from Biggie and Woli but not Jake. Ie explain it to me like I'm 5.

  31. I’m not sure if there’s a specific approach this off-season or what, I would think maybe there’s a clear process here moving on from players who we can’t trust to be in the lineup more often than they’re not but then we went ahead and signed Kyrie who is basically the poster child for absenteeism.

  32. At receiver? Probably Woli. Jake is a little slow and I'm not sure what his hands are like, but he is at least a BIG target Clercius brings a lot to the table in Wolis place. Question is does Clercius stay with the B&G if he proves himself better, and who is backing him up? FA and draft will be especially interesting this year

  39. There's no timeline forcing him to return. If he spends 4 weeks on a NFL practice roster he's netted more money than he'd make on his CFL deal. If he has any hope of latching on anywhere I could see a scenario, like with Ford, where he hangs out all year hoping for the call. In the old option year deal the CFL had with the NFL, before the CFL opted out of it, players had 10 days to sign another NFL deal before they had to return to their CFL club during the CFL season. All this to say that if I'm a CFL GM I'm not counting on having a guy in Wilson's situation back this year.

  40. Thomas is not physical, either. He constantly gets stood up on pass rush, blown back on run support at the 0, 1, 2 & 2i technique depending upon where he lines up in a 3 or 4 man front & gets washed away on sweeps.

  41. 36 games of insequantial productivity or impact all the while stunting the development of younger guys...Import and National as well as offering no value on teams....start with this I could suit up again and play 18 games....make the odd play and avoid injury by rarely being involved in the fraccass too...or being a missile bee-lining to the play...not just being in a spot where the play basically runs into after yards are gained we have 2 guys right now...And Demski isnt a guy who avoids injury either My fear with Ratio flip is we will see moocho Thomas and Schmeck.....alongside Lawson (who deserves reps) and minimal Adams..Woods..Fox...or another import....and If god forbid Lawson gets hurt...all Thomas and Schmeck.....makes a guy wanna puke That would be the worst interior dline bar none across the league...even an interior with Jake,,Schmeck....and pic one import and Lawson as the main guys...is worst in league inside if we do...may be an away gane at this rate

  44. I meant for usefulness and ability on the roster...I have a lot of high expectations for Clercius...will be a gooder and the more reps the better he will be....but considering we do not need a Canadian DT for ratio....already had 3 signed.....and what Woli and that position brings to offence....makes zero sense...who is behind Clercius for depth?? Either a raw rookie....a free agent signing costing the same...or more....but who is behind Thomas...3 guys younger,...better....2 are cheaper...and all 3 have experience tho Samson's is minimal but still...knows the system yeah...seems like no real rhyme or reason...Unless we get blown away with drunken sailor spending in free agency...which I highly doubt who knows....but we could have left him to dangle in the wind in FA agency and signed him after if we felt the need...and prob for less.....as I sure the door wouldn't have been beaten doen to scoop him up ...wasnt last time we decided to not sign him...then did after thefact anyway

  49. IF a player is a French Canadian...I would say his preference would be to sign there...AND IF it came down to a few dollars dif in a contract, I think playing at home would be a draw....Not always mind you but lets be realistic...We have a few on our club that prefer playing at home...see Demski and Brady....I see other players who lean that way for their hometown ... Sad to see Woli go..A lot of fans are going to be unhappy with the decision to let him go...Sometimes moves like these hurt....but that's the world of football and professional sports
