Offence was leading the league in rushing and passing with the mess in edm. Turned them around into a near play off team after that abysmal start. He ran an extremely dynamic multi threat run based game with a pass plan that made up a lot for their ol. 6 stints in the league as a pass game co/ oc with good success, really made the most of his pieces at each stop. Hes one of if not the most innovative oc in the cfl. He puts together great game plans and play call is his strong suit. All he does is exceed, and over achieve ever time he’s given an opportunity. Miller, for me is the opposite. Tends to under achieve while flashing potential. He’s been noted as a guy who is excellent at development and player coaching, going back to his playing career. Which is why he instantly slid into coaching upon retiring Since he switched to coaching he hasn’t been out of football once. In a league where guys like Paul can’t stick in the league it speaks volumes that soo many front offices of different teams scoop him up every time he’s available. He’s been able to excel under the egomaniac that is Chris jones. Also a buono disciple.6 points

Just to speak to Wolitarsky’s character and just what a good dude he is … few years back, some friends and I went to go see him play at Earl’s on Main and we ended up chatting with him and Streveler … he found out it was my friend’s birthday coming up who loved live music and he offered to come play some songs at his birthday party. Sure enough, few weeks later, Woli was in my basement sitting around with us having some beers while he played the guitar. All-time guy. I’m sad to see him go.6 points -

we can trim national dlineman...we dont need 4...and if we plan to use those 4 as the main contributors to the line....ouch...we will have a brutal dline I know Walters has said he allocates this and that for certain groups....but he can also deviate as well...and that shouldnt affect who you go after or who you retain because a certain group is all used up SMS wise Woli got 110....Jake gets at least that I would assume if not more......now who offers the most value for that money as a depth piece...rotational guy or limited reps guy...Like many say as to if thats what they do with Jake to justify his signing then its good...even tho we have 3 other guys besides him? Woli by far would offer more to us....as he younger....more athletic...can play all the receiver spots and I am sure would work on cover teams if asked and do well....hold for kicks if need be...and If one of Clercius or Demski get dinged...and I sure One will...we know he can step in...start...and be very productive Jake...offers none of that...He can play tackle....let me rephrase he can go out there in the tackle position.....but offers minimal at best production....cant play anywhere else...sure we put him off the edge and that was an utter embarrasment to watch.....he can't cover on kicks....hold for the kicker?....good god....and if he has to step in as a full time starter cause whoever gets hurt...lord help us There would have been 110-130k give or take tied up in Jake or Woli and the same for use elsewhere by trimming one of the roster....I see where the value and benefit would be...as I sure others do as well....Apparently tho not Osh....as I sure he was in the discussion as to keep Woli...and not re-sign Jake....or should have been....dumb move4 points -

that would make zero sense...basically all new receivers for ZC save for Demski who isnt always healthy, and minimal reps from Clercius....We all know how that will go....as ZC has a hard time dealing it to guys he isnt too familiar with...or has trust...and he gets hissy about it too...which compounds it My impression s we lock up Kenny if we havnt already, and let Schoen explore...to see where he valued after injury, and when he may even be ready...and then decide even minimal reps is a waste...If it is to spell off Lawson...which really should be the only reason we rotate a national in there then use a young guy and develop him...Park JT on the 6 game in case we have injury catastrophe....and keep his salary off the books And depending on how we use ratio...we may not even need a Canadian DT to satisfy the ratio...so dress 2 Nationals....Lawson and the best of the young guys or a possible draft pick4 points

We have let go a number of vets over the past few years (Jeffcoat, Bighill, Woli) where salary, age and sometimes production were a factor. Jake's older, his production isn't great and he's not on a minimum salary and yet he survives. Make sense now?3 points -
Clercius showed that he looked ready to step into a starting role. Question then becomes is Woli's price fit into our SMS for 3rd NAT receiver. The answer was no I guess. Loved Woli, mad respect for the guy, but his lack of health last year gave a guy a chance to steal his job and the guy took advantage. Sucks to see him go, but I am looking forward to seeing more KC. Think we need a steady hand on the rudder as well. JJ brings that.3 points

Mike Miller seems like the obvious choice for the OC job. He's been an offensive co-ordinator in the NFL and CFL. He's been a defensive co-ordinator in college (not necessary but speaks to his overall experience). And recently he's helped develop successful QB's in Toronto as their QB coaching while working under probably the best offensive mind in the league right now.3 points -

The receiver market is gonna be set by someone and then that will be what it will be, Lewis isn’t signed in Edmonton either. They all gonna have to take a cut. All it takes tho is one gm and owner (ahem bc) to throw 300 at a Kenny or Lewis and there you go again.2 points

Schoen was paid $230k last season which isn't out of line for top end receiver talent. Lawler was a bit high at $285k, making him the second highest paid receiver in the league, chisel him back down to 250k or let him walk.2 points -
not trying to be a crap disturber or arse...but do you have that as a fact?...or just an assumption? It possibly could tho with the Thomas signing....say they are looking to spend such and such in FA on some big ticket prices...and only have room for so much depth with vet Canadian salaries....so say 115...120k for a spot...Went to JT in lieu of Woli....and we just basically got rid of any National depth that has experience and usefulness at receiver....a spot we use for ratio...and are carrying 4 National DT's now...a spot where we dont need that much depth there....it wasn't a ratio requirement and especially with 2 of them (JT and Schmeck) who really are bottom barrel talent wise...one of whom has zero upside...and another...Samson who never got a snap...so is a big unknown too....rosterand sms wise....this doesnt look like the smartest allocation of assets and cash...Unless like I mentioned they have some big mind blowing event in FA happening....and I not too positive thats happening2 points

pretty sure that was happening regardless of Woli's 112k.....to rplace him with another Canadian that has some experience...u paying the same anyway....and to go raw rookie right behind Clercius as the 3 nationals with Demski...thats not a very confident group...especially with a guy like ZC who sucks using new talent. our O sucked more due to scheme...and a declining ZC...not who was catching balls so much....like mentioned before...any pro QB should be able to hit a guy running a route as per the design.....if the design sucks....or the QB is missing...it not on the recievers....and I pretty sure the whole lot of them were not running the wrong routes all the time...over and over...all in unison....and if they were...then again...thats totally on the coaches not correcting it...or finding better players Jake is making over 100k....Which could have gone to Woli....Saved for part of Ford....Used as part of a high end free agent....and if you think Osh will release him after TC you are very mistaken...He will be slotted in as a "starter" and talked as such in all the training camp articles...Osh will Osh.....100 percent a garuantee Biggie...that decision was made for us as he wont be ready right out of the gate...that is the ONLY reason...If they signed Jake...and Wilson who cant play a full season then Biggie was a lock....fate stepped in and made that decision for us 10 bucks says tho that if no-one picks him up...we do by mid season and he will displace a promising new guy2 points -

Not a fan of this move. A lot like the Janarion Grant issue last off-season. If you're all in to win in 2025 you can pay a guy like Wolitarsky that salary no problem. One of the biggest issues with the offense IMO without Wolitarsky and Schoen was that it lacked big and reliable targets. Collaros had to be damn near perfect to put the ball right on guys because we had a bunch of 6' under guys running around with Lawler or a guy like Wheatfall who had no clue what do to unless he was running right down the rail in man coverage. The reliability piece, the understanding what the defense is giving and where to be. How to get 2 yards after the catch instead of trying to race 3 guys to the sideline and losing 2 yards in the process, how to keep the sticks moving. Another piece to this is that it basically locks in that we have to start 3 Canadian OL. And at the moment we have two Canadian OL who have even been average CFL starters. If you're all in to win this year, you've kneecapped yourself.2 points -

I am flabbergasted by Wolitarsky's release. He was not an all-star, but steady, could be relied on for a clutch catch and an NI to boot. I can understand , even happy with Bighill's release, and can accept that Shoen went for the big payday in Regina. This, along with Jake Thomas being retained shakes my confidence in Bomber management and I have had doubts about O'Shea for some time. The only reasons I can think of for Wolitarsky's release is a) personal conduct issues(not bloody likely, b) cutting corners so as to free up money for a splash signing (then why keep Thomas who has pretty much the same salary) or c) group onset of early dementia. I will reserve final judgement until training camp is over, but am discouraged.1 point

I would have liked to see Woli stay but I think him being cut has at least something to do with Clercius, who has passed him. Drew I think was healthy for the GC, albeit rusty, and there was no rush to put him on the field. Maybe $110,000 for a backup NI who has been getting nicked was too much for Walters1 point -

Coles notes remember Blake wheeler? And the exact same thing that was said about him as a leader in the room? That’s JT Miller in Vancouver. Without the C. His personality and his leadership style clashes with the younger more chilled EP and QH and their generation. simple as that from what I can gather. I’m not sure Blake was wrong on his approach since it worked for him but it didn’t work for others. Same thing with Miller. Rubs ppl the wrong way. Just how JT miller is really. IF a player is a French Canadian...I would say his preference would be to sign there...AND IF it came down to a few dollars dif in a contract, I think playing at home would be a draw....Not always mind you but lets be realistic...We have a few on our club that prefer playing at home...see Demski and Brady....I see other players who lean that way for their hometown ... Sad to see Woli go..A lot of fans are going to be unhappy with the decision to let him go...Sometimes moves like these hurt....but that's the world of football and professional sports1 point

There's no timeline forcing him to return. If he spends 4 weeks on a NFL practice roster he's netted more money than he'd make on his CFL deal. If he has any hope of latching on anywhere I could see a scenario, like with Ford, where he hangs out all year hoping for the call. In the old option year deal the CFL had with the NFL, before the CFL opted out of it, players had 10 days to sign another NFL deal before they had to return to their CFL club during the CFL season. All this to say that if I'm a CFL GM I'm not counting on having a guy in Wilson's situation back this year.1 point -
