  1. I don't understand this rumour that Schoen isn't a deep ball threat? lol. WTF have you people been watching? He's made some unbelievable plays on underthrown/challenged deep balls. He's also taken 20 yard catches to the house. He's a threat to score from anywhere on the field. This is not to take anything away from Lawler, who is obviously one of the best. Both will be back.

  2. oh well, sucks to lose a Canadian but let’s be realistic here, we probably would not love the price tag he’s going to command. Hopefully this allows us to keep a few more guys.

  3. I think the Bombers will be smart and go for the unproven tier of guys who are ready to breakout, rather than paying for guys like Ceresna when it comes to the DL I would like to see them in on McManis but I’m also not discouraged by Farhan not talking about us … he’s never really been connected to our front office and only seems to get news on our (dis)interest through other teams.

  4. Hamilton and BC huh. So the regular off season suspects.

  5. 100%. Love the talent, sucks to lose the guy. But if we are adding a160-200k salary to the defensive side, it should be a DE.

  6. Kenny has never played a full season. Schoen has score more TDs in his career than Kenny in 25 less games. Schoen has had 2 serious season ending injuries in the last 2 years but played all 18 in 2022.

  7. I’m starting to get a weird feeling we’re going to see a bunch of guys leaving. I know people are gonna start up with the “how come we can afford Jake but can’t afford Schoen” even though that’s nowhere near how it works, my concern is that we really struggling to be retaining any prime of their career talent who literally wasn’t born within 3 hours of here. I can see teams structuring some really unique contracts for him to give him some assurances despite the low price tag he’s likely going to command this year.

  8. If I'm not mistaken, Schoen said that his late signing last year was waiting to see what teams would pay him ABOVE what the bombers had offered. No one came to the table with an offer than blew him away so he came back. Not sure why that would be different this year as I don't see anyone ponying up huge amounts for him after last year.

  9. With Tyrells brother being the qb there ....not surprising he'd sign in Edm....c'est la vie...Hate to lose a talent like that and a canuck to boot but he wasn't a must get for 25' at any rate

  10. Facebook rumours? lol where ppl think the earth is flat eventho none of the other planets are. Where ppl send money to obvious scams. Where the jets have made 5 blockbuster trades this season already. Using Facebook as a source should result in banning and your internet taken away since you can’t determine what is real and not real.

  13. Jackson Jeffcoat probably counts. They retained him forever. Nichols I'll throw in as well.... when you get into the niche of impactful, home grown not born within a stone's throw then you're shrinking the pool of available options. Overall I'd say their ability to retain players is fine... but we're probably in a point where some turnover needs to happen. Now let's all argue about which turnover.

  16. He missed 2 games in his first 2 years, then had the 1 injury last year. He's only had 1 injury put him on the 6 game. Kenny hasn't played a full season in any of his 5 years, he averages 11-12 games a year and 1 6 game stint each season. Kennys best year was 1014 yards and 6 tds. Schoens average over his first 2 is 1300 yards and 13 tds. Greg ellingson had 1 year that is comparable to schoens average. Out of 10 seasons. Ellingson also played a 6 year stretch not missing more than 2 games.

  17. How many games has Lawler played the last 2 years. If your argument is that Schoen isn't worth it because of reliability then the argument has to be the same for Lawler. Now, I agree that if we can only have one then Lawler should be our pick but I disagree with your premise as to why. Lawler is just a better big play receiver, while Schoen is the more consistently productive one. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, but my personal bias is towards the big play guy. Doesn't make it the right pick but I can choose my favorite, just as you have.

  18. You're panicking a bit here haha. There's not many guys they've wanted at a reasonable number who haven't re-signed since about 2017. Only real big loss was Desjarlais. Janarion was a bit of a tougher one coming off a pretty terrible season and a couple years in a row with significant injury. I can understand why they moved on. I can't understand what the **** they did in the 2024 off-season/training camp/season to try to replace him. Generally haven't had a big problem with choices they've made to not pay guys. Personnel side aside from DB's has been brutal going on 3 years. And unfortunately I think we lost the most competent guy we had over there in Goveia. But nice that they've added onto McManus because I think he's basically useless. Why the **** did they re-sign Kyrie Wilson?

  19. What would bode well for us...even not factoring in who may or may not sign in FA or re-up from our current FA's is that going into camp....Positions are all up for grabs, and the best players, and ones who also show nice upside on top of it, get the spots....and That goes for all positions...you have some key vets that obviously stay..WJ...Lawson...Nichols...Holm...Griffen...Bonds...Ayers...Wilson...Adams...Woods...Bryant..Neuf..Wallace...Eli..BO...Demski...Mitchel....not Myron...Castilla...ZC...Clercius...Lawler and or Schoen if signed....MCI...QB Wilson...after that....take the cream of the crop....best of the best....sort out who and where you designate Nats and Imps when you have your 46 main guys.... When is last time we have done that?....not in this run we havnt...and we now on the backside of the success...and teetering

  21. They’ve done a fine job of retaining. Chungh left 6 years ago to go home and became the highest paid guard in the league, Couture was a pretty good Center who got injured and lost his job, Richardson was a huge loss but with his injury issues he never really played much after leaving winnipeg, Sayles was a rotation player for us before taking a big contract in Hamilton. Admittedly he ended up being a good football player, Lawler took the money but came back, and ill give you Grant, that one stings but in the end of the day you’re not going to be able to keep everybody in the one year contract era, especially when you’ve had five grey cup appearances in a row. People want to get theirs, but I think Walters has done a good job mostly of retaining who he can.

  22. Chungh, Couture, Richardson, Sayles, Lawler, Janarion are all names off the top of my head. Ford looks like he’s on his way out. Houston is another one, although I’m glad we didn’t keep him and I think that was one the team was OK with. Let me flip the question: what impactful player in their prime who isn’t from MB or ND have we kept in the past 2-3 years? Schoen is really the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head and we locked him up for one year after he strongly considered the market and quite possibly may walk this time around.

  23. Yeah more money allocated in a position of need. Ford is great but we have an outstanding secondary.

  24. There’s gonna be a point in time where the team isn’t winning more than they are losing. Let’s hope you keep the same vibes then cuz this I know it all approach is insanity. Making it to the cup 5 straight years is better than being the laughing stock for the 15 prior years. The teams ppl in their 30s and 40s now grew up with sucked. What i wouldn’t have given to be 17 18 19 20 21 right now instead of having actual real life responsibilities. The teams I grew up with and cheered for all sucked. This team is pretty much all they do is go to cup finals. When I was younger cup finals were once in a blue moon and losing happened way more than winning. Real question for you. I know you’ll get kinda pissy tho and names stuff but if you could avoid that and answer this without the drama or bs or I know all stuff….. what the actual **** can this team do besides win every game and every cup that will make you actually happy? Cuz dude, they ain’t gonna do it your way.

  25. Schoen might have led the league in receiving in 2023 if he didn't miss 2 games. The 10 below is the number of TD's he contributed. How soon you forget. 2023 WPG 16 111 71 1222 314 10 17.2 71

  26. I could see him here. They seem to be collecting that type of receiver. Hollins is a real technician but he's small and not the kind of guy to get too dirty. They brought in about 20 guys they hoped would be a Hollins here last year. Wilson was good and the rest looked surprised somebody would think about paying them to play football.

  31. WE would have been sinking 550 k into 4 db's...thats insane and stupid...even without Ford we are sinking a heck of a lot when we shouldnt have to.....good luck to him elsewhere as he a baller, but we dont need a canadian corner to make ratio we've allowed our depth and where we allocate our money to erode and handcuff our roster...been going on for a few yrs now...and hate to harp on the reason but its the HC love for old aged vets and his reluctance to be like a guy like Bouno or Mathews...even Cal and move on before it cripples your roster and asset management...or ability to manage it fluidily not always who have we lost...but who we have missed out on also clinging to guys who's upside had passed them by...where oft injured or looking forward shoudnt have been in teams plans in 2 yrs or so... As ro the Schoen issue...who knows what he will be able to do when he healthy, him and Lawler offer 2 excellent skill sets....But Lawler offers that something other that not many do...Schoen included...and Schoen the last seson and his coule games in 2024 shown to have a bit of the droppsies...part of which is he is a bit leary of all the pounding he takes after catch...have never seen an elite receiver take the shots he does repeatedly...has to be a reason for it Lawler miseed with injury last yr...yr prior was that suspension...2019 he didnt get on roster until week 4...broke a collar bone in edm making an elite catch....**** happens....I like Schoen but he is more replaceable with good recruiting

  32. Yes. I think we did get prime collaros here. We got a healthy rested collaros. Dude was destroyed in his “prime” years but the argument could be made his best years have been here so as a QB I’d say he was in his prime here. At the same time there’s only 9 teams so options limited for the QBs.

  33. Bryant and neuf have been here through the worst. It would be insane if they left in fa. gray wasn’t a starter but we paid him like one, hardrick did end up chasing dollars, holm rose and Kramdi got among the highest pay for dbs in the cfl when they signed. Rose was toast and the only one who wasn’t a clear over pay the moment the deal was signed. we did have offers to stove and grant. This was openly commented on when they left. marcus sayles was excellent when he left. Casey sayles is probably the best 3 tech in the league.

  35. It feels like we’ve seen an exodus for a while. Guys we want to stay or come back from the nfl going else where and guys that are what ever coming back on really strong Money. We’ve lost soo much from the 19/21 team in terms of young guys still playing front office guys. Grant, exhume, Hansen, Bailey, couture, desjarlais, brown, sayles, stove, lawler first time and Sergio too. That’s just guys we struggled on and lost. Not including guys we struggled on an over paid. Collaros was here in his prime?

  36. Not for about 12 days, he isn't.

  37. Yeah touché on that one. The rest of the ones in the post above, not many of those guys in their prime which is what my point was to begin with.

  38. Grant is a FA once again, Walters has a chance to make up for fumbling his file last season. There will likely be stiff competition to pay him what he's worth, as every GM knows he is the best.

  39. Bryant, Nuef, Gray, Hardrick, Nichols, Holms, Rose, Jefferson, Jeffcoat, Alexander, Biggie, Kramdi (debatable about impact i guess), Wolly, Schoen. The guys you have listed there. Janarion was essentially let go a mistake no doubt, but he didn't take another offer over the bombers. Bombers just didn't offer. Richardson was kind of the same. Walters knew what it would take to keep him and he chose (wrongly again) not to compete. Sayles is overrated imo and is much like Houston. Chunghs replacement was in house already. So that leaves Lawler who came back and admitted he should have never left and Couture.

  40. Yeah, I have a son. He’s 19 now, but there wasn’t anything to this extreme when he was growing up in sports or school. Guess he/we were lucky, because you’re right, kids seem to face very little consequences these days.
    1 point
  41. Yea, Schoen is more productive and reliable than Kenny. Kenny will make the highlight reel snag at a key moment of the game. That's the choice the Bombers will be making if they can't get them both.
    1 point
  42. That's just budgeting though. I have a breakdown of where I expect my entire budget to go at work, but I still underspend in column B because I overspent in A all the time. If I hit the total budget nobody cares, but that doesn't mean I didn't start with an idea where the money was going. I'd say he's a terrible GM if he was black and white staying only within his positional budget. They job is field the best team for X dollars, not allocate x dollars perfectly. Not saying you're wrong, but I think it's crazy if he's that black and white about it.

  44. Last I heard Schoen is a Blue Bomber until February 13th. That's tampering. Clubs can't covet publicly or offer any monetary terms until February 2nd. They become free agents February 13th. If they want Schoen for big bucks they can have him. Schoen's been nothing but a walking injury the past 2 seasons. He did us no good not being able to play.

  45. His play tonight was indicative of low hockey IQ. That 3rd pairing is an absolute gong show and a liability. In playoffs it's going to matter.

  46. I hear what you’re saying, but he was awful tonight…. And I feel like that’s the case too often. I hope he finds a groove, if we’re hell bent on keeping him, but I have zero confidence he will.
