  1. You gotta be really sour to have your mind made up on this being a bad hire. Keep in mind Buck Pierce hadn't called a play for a PeeWee team before he was given the OC job here. You've got three experienced CFL coaches leading the offense. Judgement on Hogan's scheme/play calling can come later.

  3. this is the worst decision the Bombers have made with a Hogan since they banned the Section S one

  4. Almost $300k for Lawler apparently. I think you guys are smart for not paying that price. Per Hodge, Liam Dobson is also going to Hamilton. Goveia is bringing all his buddies…

  5. Hopeful that Hogan can bring some fresh ideas as a young coach. He was the RB coach so he should know that the O needs to run through Brady and not have ZC just chuck it all day. Glad Jackson was added to bring another experience coach to the offense.

  7. Sucks to see lawler go, leaving a second time for cash after the dui injuries etc, don’t really want him back again. I kind of hope we go with a low risk high reward vet on a real good deal, and bring in a bunch of blue chip prospects at wr. Spend more money on the lines.

  9. I am certain Wallace will offer as much and more there in his second yr here than Dobson did...plus he great on his feet and active...and apparently is a sponge to coaching...what better place to grow into it than beside Big Stan too call me stoopid but what kind of recruiting violations would occur in WHS Football?

  10. A few cents from me. I like Lawler but I don't think he is worth the rumored 275k..... I actually like the potential of our LB crew this year I am concerned with D-line, I am guessing we have something more to this coming before TC I feel we got solid value for Schoen, hopefully he is recovered Losing Ford isn't great...but IMO in no way is he worth what Edm. paid him and we have at least what I believe to be still a very good defensive back end Edm. went crazy.....call me crazy but I felt like they were coming around late last season, but they have cut and diced, and meal pieced so much over there, I will be shocked if they even look competitive for the first third of the season T. O is having a Grey Cup yard sale.....they lost alot.... Hogan is a......look it up, who is this guy.....but with JJ mentoring him I hope we see similar results as to what we did with Younger on defence...it's yet to be seen, but I will give it benefit of the doubt I think we add one upper mid tier o-lineman, o-line must be priced up right now and waiting for a domino to fall I do share some concern with the receiving core with Schoen's health is question, it's a bit thin...again I think we still sign a upper mid tier guy as the top tiers are all but "signed" somewhere Overall more change than we have seen, but maybe we needed more change than we have seen....

  11. There is a ton of talent available. Go to the FA listings. Better than what we had? Such as who? Lawler's 800 yards last year? Haba and Garbutt's nothing....what exactly are you concerned about replacing? We effectively swapped Lawler for Schoen....that's a win in my books. Brought in Mitchell for Wilson....saw off....Vaughters for Haba/Garbutt....win for us. What has your **** in a bunch? You are so consumed with the JT resigning that you are not looking at the whole picture imo. It's kind of crazy because the one massive loss we took this offseason in Ford is the one you seem least concerned about.

  12. $275,000 is an overpay for Lawler
    5 points
  13. We did. We paid Lawler almost 300 k on his last contract and quite frankly he isn’t worth even close to it.

  14. If we go with jones/jones and ayers as our wil/mac and continue the dime sub pack for the wil on some plays I think that hole is already filled. At nose, I think they will also maintain the status quo. Lawson will hopefully take more reps than jake, he and woods will trade off those inside duties. On a side note, I think the rules committee should allow jake to use the waggle. He's soo damn slow it's the only way he can line up off the ball and consistently get to the OL before the ball is thrown. 😂 I really hope he doesn't take as many or more snaps than woods/lawson this year.

  15. Not that surprised. I kind of saw the writing on the wall with the signing of Mitchell and then signing Schoen Even at a pay cut we’re spending a lot of money on our receiving core. We’ll probably bring in a second tier reciever and hope we can bring in the next Schoen or Wilson In training camp.

  16. Football all over has opened up to smaller faster pass rushers both in hybrids and ends. No peyton Logan?

  17. Hogan is a risky hire but by all accounts he's a solid guy with a great work ethic. Now we'll see if he can run an offence. I like that they've brought in Jarious for some experience to lean on.

  23. Hollins or Dunbar … I mean, there are definitely worse options. there are definitely some negatives to what is happening right now but let’s not lose sight of the positives. At least we haven’t signed Alexander yet

  24. Honestly, I felt that Dobson was the most over rated OL in the CFL last year and I don't really feel all that bad about him leaving. This isn't sour grapes either, I have openly questioned his abilities consistently over the past year. Watched him consistently get beaten badly like a rented mule every time he went up against an elite DT. The apologists here blamed it on Kolo, and they were partially right but WAAAAAY too many times he just got straight up manhandled one on one and you can't blame that on the centre. Good riddance.

  25. Freep reported that we offered $220K which seems fair. $300K is wild.

  26. I know the Grey Cup is rarely won in free agency, but somewhere between "yawn" and "full BC circa 2024" would have been nice. I think in a Grey Cup year we all expected at least a small splash.

  27. Yep. Being able to identify and scoop up 2nd and 3rd year guys from other teams that you can turn into some thing more is the real success indicator. Scouting and bring up rookie Americans takes a lot of time and work. Then they generally need a year to adjust and have the game slow down. Being able to skip those steps is what we excelled at early in the mafia era. A lot of people forget how many of "our guys" came up with different teams.

  28. Rhymes could be a decent add at the right price. Love Kenny but if he wants to chase the money again so be it.

  29. If changes are needed after 3 failures why are ppl throwing tantrums anytime a player that we didn’t win with the last 3 years signs elsewhere then. You can’t demand change then complain when it happens. That’s ridiculous. Nothing the team does is good enough for a few of you. That’s not on them. That’s on you for thinking they gonna listen to you.
    4 points
  30. Yeah, losing Lawler definitely hurts if that ends up being the case. That being said, we haven’t won the Grey Cup with him the last two years either so I’m willing to try something different. it can go one of many ways, but with our front office shake up, I’m hoping maybe we can see some talent brought in for position groups we’ve struggled with for the past couple seasons (edge rusher, linebacker) … they’ve got the pedigree for it, that’s for sure

  31. The elks were a **** team with **** players. They're dumping their trash and trying to build their team through free agency.

  33. Because this is a Grey Cup season and I don’t want somebody learning on the fly while his much-more-qualified assistant waits in the wings. Not the kind of structure I want, this doesn’t feel like the Younger promotion at all.
    3 points
  34. because you’re giving the keys to the offense to a guy who has only ever had the keys to a high school offense and one of his assistants was the key figure in a major offensive turnaround just last season … I can’t imagine that goes well

  35. Vaughters, Woods, Lawson, Willie > Garbutt, Woods, Jake, Willie If Person is as good as some think then great. Adams is still around too right? He looked great early and then faded. Maybe a rebound?

  37. Rhymes is a high point guy too that can catch those rainbow balls ZC loves to throw.
    3 points
  38. yup...we got his market offer...and we walked.....good move....I guess he is going back to losing again....so be it Only guy still available I would want is Rhymes now...his physicality would be a welcome augmentation to the group Mitchell...Demski..Schoen...Rhymes...Clercius as a starting 5 would be a nice group... Not sure how Dobson has himself valued at that...maybe after another bet on yourself 1 yr deal and prove it maybe same...love him when he is on...but even if he gives you 18 games....in the current CFL market now thats on over pay now...Dobson is on glue....

  39. I’m a fan of Kenny but man almost 300k again for him is crazy stuff. Poor value really. Dobson as highest paid oline is wild to me.
    3 points
  40. 300 k for Lawler, and Dobson reportedly wants to be one the highest paid guard in the league.. honestly glad it wasn’t us.
    3 points
  41. Lawler is a great player but he just vibes as its all about Kenny. Would have liked some loyalty after we paid him so well and put up with his stupidity (DUI, not getting his immigration status sorted).

  42. Frankly, while wins in the regular season are fun and easy to rally around, championships are what matter and the "pieces we've brought in" haven't been up to the task.

  43. hope tsn isn't planning a big day in free agency coverage on the 11th, at this rate they are gonna have to spend the time talking about ac leonard
    3 points
  44. We not winning the cup last few yrs had nothing to do with the players...tho the injured ones we tried to play with didn't help...or the lack of depth in key spots...but that all points to the reason we lost.

  45. I forgot Hollins is out there … JBR was right, he definitely is a Wilson type. Not super high on him, but it fits the mold of what we might be looking for.

  46. Elks say we don’t need no stinking scouts. There’s CFL ready players available in free agency.
