Not seeing who really fits the boundary wideout spot of who they've signed so far. And that spot has been a weakness since Darvin Adams has been gone. Lawler and Wolitarsky were ok there, but much better fits in the slot or to the field. I bet they try Mitchell there, but I'm not sure he's got the ability at all 3 levels to get open and make plays.5 points -

yup....and a nice mix of body types....add BOLO as the NI depth and we be set......White JR when he returned looked nothing like White JR pre-injury...maybe he is back to 100 percent as well and that would be a savvy pickup...he has a knack for the tough contested catches I like tho we also have Logan now to integrate in....and he is as explosive as it gets in the league...Under radr pickup to the lay fan who prob has no clue who he even is5 points -

True. Means you shouldn’t get duis, and sure as heck should have your passport sorted in a timely fashion. And shouldn’t disappear for weeks at a time on the field. Lawler helps you win games, some times. Excellent talent. Feel like when he retires you’ll lack back at what he accomplished and say, that’s it? Lawlers huge moments are as big as Milts in terms of impressiveness. But not in terms of those plays winning us games.3 points

Looking like theres the possibility we are going with more Americans on the field on offense given this signing. I'm also seeing a lot of weapons that can be used in a lot of ways. I don't really see the jump ball big body type of guy. But to be honest I don't really think that's a game Collaros excels in anyways. I can see many of these receivers purely getting open in different parts of the field. Get the ball out of zachs hands quickly and have teams keeping pace with us and having to tackle in space.2 points -

I just don't see a universe where Jake outplays Lawson for the vast majority of reps this year. Last year was easy for Osh to give the reps to JT. there was no proven commodity behind him. This year, it would be near impossible knowing what we know about Lawson's ability.2 points
-
I don't think given the changes to the defense we necessarily need to get back to that, but they need a stronger rotation than they had last season. Doesn't have to be 8 guys like it was, but need more out of what they have. Which is probably why you see some of the bodies from that rotation leaving. Forget Jake, he's only here for the lifetime achievement award.2 points

Yeah we have a lot of unknown right now, which is why I'm not too keen on the group overall. But I think their ceiling is higher than last year (even with a healthy Lawler/Schoen).2 points -
Sterns is like Kelvin mcknight. But the type of athlete you need to be at his size. Great agility, good quickness, stronger than you'd expect. I think he might really excel in the slot with the right usage. He doesn't have the straight acceleration of an elite athlete from a stand still, so if he gets really good with the waggle he could be deadly. Floor is a rich mans Mcknight, ceiling is a decent version of weston dressler. (though it takes a lot of none measurables to be what dressler was in this league.) I really like this move actually, should be really cheap, will really push the rookies and the last starting import. I think going more veteran guys capable of starting than you have jobs is what we need with the approach we are taking to free agency. I like it too, he isn't Snead, but he is for sure in that mold. Snead for me has that 1 step acceleration and change of direction ability.2 points

What bothers me about Zach more than anything is I think he should be taking a paycut to put better players around him. He's not as good as he used to be and needs a stacked team around him to be effective IMO. Other starters around the league took paycuts. Based on the regression in his stats he should have done this too.2 points -
If he is used as he was last year very problematic, however, context is everything. Last year we lost Lawson in TC leaving too many reps for Jake.2 points

Nope not all pressures and sacks are on the OL. However, last year we saw an inordinant amount of average to below average OL play.2 points

BigBlueFanatic and one other reacted to wbbfan for a topic
did you watch him play off the ball last year? He seriously could barely get to the OL before the ball was out more times than I could count. I don't think you understand how critical giving up a free man advantage is in both the run game and pass rush. In our system we NEED to get pressure with 3-4 guys. No one can get pressure with 2 guys actually getting into the rush, and 3 guys requires a lot of work, game planning and talent. In our split field drop 6 package, a 40 front with jake on it means with the RB, every other guy gets double-teamed. (and every team was running chip and release at least on us.) So the C might have to chip jake late, but opens hard with the G on woods. WJ gets straight double teamed on his side by G and T full time. Then the end on the other side gets chipped deep into the tackles wheel house but the RB. No pass rusher in this league today can consistently win a double team and create pressure. If you watch the highlights of him you see a ton of the C shading towards him, and chipping the other DT first. You see him being steered and contacting 2 ol on some plays, usually when the ball is already out. If your NT doesn't have the C moving backwards, or have his hands on 2 ol keeping them off the 3T by the time the QB has the ball and is looking at his first read, your NT has lost the battle. Maybe he can get back in on the play if the coverage forces the QB to progress and wait for an opening or timing on another route. But its like going into the 4th quarter down more than a TD. Getting the odd fg in that situation is not bad, but it isn't what you need to win. In the run game teams like to slide away from jake, and read willy. Which is a nightmare for us to try and maintain run fits. Gauthier but 4-5 years younger. Real good pick up for STs and depth. But you don't want him starting or rotating heavily.2 points -

Collaros even at his best always hung onto the ball and ran around. Problem is he's noticeably slower and can't make the magic happen like he used to. He's lost some explosiveness and speed and he hasn't adapted his game.2 points

u think he should be on end???....gimme a break I did say yup he was a good depth piece..6 to 8 reps a game.....other than that....he's done nothing really of any significance other than stay healthy...but that also a direct result of not being a guy who gets in there and just makes plays and has multiple guys defemding him....hardly clouding judgement by any stretch He's a good guy...he's not a good player since 20222 points

Lawler's agent told the Bombers he won't be back based on our offer. You don't see how adding half a million to the SMS might change what our offer is? You don't think changing our offer might get Kenny to stay? I would much rather chase McEwan or Couture than to try get Dobson re-signed. BOLO would be a nice add as well.2 points
-
I still think 275 is an overpay...just my opinion Oakman and McEwen/Couture could IMO be a solid fit here. They seem to have not been scooped in the first wave.. .perhaps they are asking too much..but one of those of those lineman and Oakman on reasonable contracts would again IMO be really nice adds for us. BOLO back as depth would be a great signing I feel. Lets see, what happens....2 points

I can’t fault MOS for believing in people. Maybe not enough do these days plus he was a former player who had to be told when to hang them up so you can’t fault the guy for being who he is. He knows exactly what a bighill would be thinking because Osh thought the same likely. It’s crazy. 2 of the best linebackers in cfl history are O’Shea and bighill so really it’s that drive and never give up approach that made them who they are and were. Bighill was a beast for us. Nothing but respect there for him. Dude destroyed his body and willingly played hurt for my entertainment2 points -

With BLM Powell and Tuas Brother, don’t think that’s happening. It wouldn’t shock me if Streveler was done as a player. It’s here or nowhere in my opinion with Streveler. And I’m not convinced they gonna bring him back here. I felt that way before they released his bro and best bud Woli and I feel that way even more after releasing him. Just don’t see the upside with Streveler anymore. BA and lucky seem like guys who will retire. I thought I read somewhere someone did sign Cole already. Maybe Hamilton even. Maybe not tho.2 points -

The issue with Lawler is that he only sometimes does it. West final, yeah he was untouchable... but then there's been games he isn't close to that guy. Would have loved to keep him, even at a big dollar value, but I don't know he's worth it anymore. Too inconsistent game to game.2 points
