  1. Just raise the minimum salary. The top guys get enough already.

  2. I wonder how much the ticats will pay these guys to leave us in 2 years?

  4. truth be told, I think if we do suddenly have a bit more cash to play with for a receiver, we’d be better off saving it for Pokey when he comes back edit: let me clarify, I know he’s under contract if he comes back. I’d give him a raise for this year with an extension attached so we can actually lock a guy up long term and not do this song and dance every year I’d also be pushing for Brady (especially) and Schoen extensions

  5. Yeah, I’m not torn up about anyone other than maybe Lawler leaving. I’ll feel okay about that one if Wilson comes back or if we find another camp star.

  10. If he clicks with zach, watch out. If not, this might be the final and short note on his wiki. I am hopeful they will click though. 🤣 some one do a wellness check on Ted please.

  11. I like the logic behind this statement. With that extra $400,000, I'd love to see us throw a nice offer to Couture or McEwen so we can upgrade the C spot and move on from Kolo.

  12. Kyle walters flat out said in his presser at the end of last year he's trying to win every year. Home Grey cup doesn't change the approach.

  13. Honestly. They been to the cup 5 straight years. These are the good times whether you can admit it or not. piss poor management. Honestly. Joe Mack and Mike Kelly say hello. You’re so far gone with your hate of O’Shea that it completely clouds your judgement. Do it my way cuz that’s the only way.

  14. Hamilton was in their home grey cup a few years ago. Don’t recall them blowing their wads to get there. Just cuz you overpay people don’t guarantee anything. Actually history has shown that the teams who overpay during free agency usually don’t end up in the game otherwise Hamilton and BC would be grey cup champs every year. Hamilton has the longest cup draught in the league. Over spending doesn’t guarantee ****.

  15. If Kyle walters felt signing these guys was THAT important he would have found the money for them. He moved on and wants to use his money elsewhere.

  16. I agree most of those guys should be replaceable. One thing is for damn sure, it's nice to actually have some speed in the wr core. If they were TCF, they wouldn't have been signed during this period. Cole is a top Sts guy worthy of a DI in that role alone. Hubert is an excellent end AR Canadian who can contribute on a bunch of teams units and rotate actively on the defense, both inside and out. Especially on running downs. Garbutt is a fringe starter in the CFL who picked it up really well late. TCF don't start in the previous GC. Fox has played in the league on 2 teams in 3 years. He struggled with injuries, but that isn't TCF. That is an incredibly talented guy who hasn't been able to translate yet. Training Camp Fodder, as in cannon fodder, is just a body for your actual players to hit. When a guy has significant upside, that isn't TCF. Thats a developmental guy. Everyone on that list has the upside to start in the CFL. At worst, they are low risk high reward guys.

  18. Every team got the same amount of money. If we up the offer on Kenny, they up the offer too. Dumb way of doing business.

  19. To be honest, I don't know how you even pay kenny 50k+ year more than dalton. 2 out of 3 years in the league dalton has been the best wr in the league. He was injured most of last year. Arguably, Kenny was the best wr in the league once in the shortened season. That's out of 5 years. Kenny is 31 a month into the season. Dalton is 28. Dalton has missed time with 1 major injury. Lawler has missed time because he didn't get his passport done in time, DUI, and various injuries. Dalton averages almost double the YAC each year and more than double the tds. They have the same number of 100 yard games in their career as well. Dalton eclipsed 100 catches in both his healthy seasons. Lawler hasn't done it once.

  20. I do really like Mitchell, to be honest. I think if we put him at X, he’s going to be a problem.

  21. Didn’t Schoen sign for like 175 plus incentives. Why would anyone think bombers would be willing to give lawler 100k more in guaranteed money. It’s obvious they weren’t willing to overpay and 275k for lawler is an overpay, extra 400k or not. Was reported Calgary offered him 250k. Bombers probably didn’t even go that high because it was around that time that we were told Kenny’s agent told Walter’s he wouldn’t be back. Bombers weren’t gonna go 250 never mind 275 or more.

  22. I don’t think this new money is affecting anything in the way we think it is You would’ve seen a report that SOMEONE was considering not signing the deal they agreed to, but you haven’t The agents don’t want to touch this one, the general managers aren’t going to either … and quite honestly, it makes sense. The CFL is a small league and if you use this money to screw over another team, it won’t be long before it comes back around

  26. Kyle walters approach has already got the team to 5 straight Grey cup games... I don't think he needs to be told anything and I don't think Wade Miller is going to start to interfere now.

  27. piss poor management and forward thinking then....and as a fan base who has been the leagues best...they should maybe deviate and give the fans this gift by any means....like I said....too much nice giy...dont wanna cause riples thinking and upset anyone.....time to mix it up and throw a curve at everyone...as the 3 straight fastballs we chucked 3 straight yrs got slammed for dingers dont have to over pay all over your roster...especially if you effectively been turning it over and had progression and transitin pieeces in place...which we didnt.......u can tho cut the fat off the back and add some lean mean....and over paying for 1..maybe 2 guys...all teams do it....Hamilton as well already had a good team...in a weak divison and some hefty payed guys....they mapped that out accordingly....a spineless QB and some poor coaching sunk them

  28. If Cup at home had any sway with the mafia, we would have re-tooled last year going into TC. I honestly don't think they view this year as any different than any of he previous. They should treat it differently. The door is shut and the window is sliding down fast, but they aren't going to.

  29. Man. Dying on a hill Paul Friesen created is wild. You do realize Kenny already said his good byes right? Move on, bombers have and Kenny has. What’s done is done. Lawler will be a ticat. Dude literally said good bye to Winnipeg. He ain’t coming back. Here’s a wild thought, bombers didn’t think Kenny was worth 275. Ppl need to accept this.

  30. I like Mitchell too, but i'm more excited about White. He could be a huge deep ball threat if he's able to get back into form.

  31. Lawler is going to have to be replaced by a couple guys. Could make for a deeper group, who knows. Hopefully it forces collaros to not rely on Lawler to bail his ass out all thr time.

  36. Goveia snapping up these ex-Bombers would indicated that he had little faith in the coaches here using said players to the best of their abilities.

  37. The timing sucked. It's caused problems from what I've read. Teams were unprepared for the news. There's talk of the CFL changing their financial year to after the Grey Cup instead of December 31st to avoid things like this happening again.

  38. I see White as a 4th option 700-800 yard guy who might lose games to Sterns. Mitchell had star potential before bad qbs helped derail him. IMO he has a higher ceiling than White.

  39. Save it for a rainy day, nothing wrong holding back on spending much of the bonus till the end of the season. Walters will have bank left over to cover whatever IR anomalies they encounter, plus the ability to re-up players he wants to keep before they hit FA next year with whatever is left. Forecast accounting is difficult and very stressful, if Walters can dump his pockets at the end of the season and come out even, I'm sure he'd prefer that to fidgeting over incongruent numbers at year end till his brain bleeds.

  40. I agree....forward thing and continuity with young guys is always smart....at least save it to see if he (Pokey) is the real deal tho and do a late season deal if he lighting it up would be my route on that...and if Schoen is back to being Schoen

  41. that was god awfull management 5 straight yrs....3 straight failures...preventable ones....sure they good times....but in the end if you happy with failing...then be happy....your choice...nobody connected to the team is happy...nor considered those season's a success...why do you? should give you a lil more incentive tho...no?

  42. Some on here feel that the right thing to do would be to pretend we didn't have a windfall of extra SMS and to honor deals and prices set before the league dropped the bomb. I say bullshit to that, teach Ted Goveia his first big lesson about meddling with our FA's and screw the nice guy act and do what is in the best interest of our club....to hell with the rest. Nice GMs finish last. Screw them over, screw them over, screw them over....GO KYLE we have a cup to raise on home soil. Anything less than pulling out every stop to put our interests first is a failure. The media, and whoever, can wax poetically about honor among thieves.....F That. If we don't make our revised best pitch to Kenny because of some ridiculous notion of lollipops and rainbows amongst the other GMs then we deserve what we get if we are not hoisting the cup. All other teams in this league are our competition, you put your foot on the throat of your competition every chance you can in business.

  43. I like who we have brought in so far as possible Kenny replacements. It will definitely have to be by committee, no doubt about it. White, Sterns, and Mitchell give us some decent receiving options. Clercius over Woli is a hard move to make, but one that should pay dividends maybe as early as this year. Would be nice to get Wilson back sooner than later if Lawler really is gone.

  44. Regarding Kenny....he's already gone down the ' it was great playing in the Peg' goodbye...Now that doesn't mean he could/would change his mind BUT considering the late bull$hit game the league has played with the sms, he just might...He's one guy I didn't want to see playing elsewhere....I hope we contact him and see where he stands

  45. So much sourness on here... it's not out of the realm of possibility that Winnipeg could offer Lawler 50 k more and Hamilton stays firm with what they originally offered. To think it's 100% impossible is very weird. It's doubtful, but most certainly not impossible. Weird things have happened in the league before where players change their mind at the last minute.

  46. It’s flawed because you think this is all on hold for some fairy tale window of exclusivity this weekend. That could’ve been happening by now. It isn’t. It’s not going to.

  47. 100k min salary in the cfl would improve competition for the bottom 1/3 of the roster out of camp a lot I bet.
