  1. So what's everyone's take on Jake Thomas? Feel like we've barely scratched the surface with that discussion.

  2. Neither one is low potential. Neither is any thing like goltz or brink….

  3. treveler wanted to make sure he wasn’t walking into a similar situation as last year. “Things happened last year where it just didn’t work out the way that I think anyone envisioned it would, on a lot of different fronts,” Streveler said, adding he’s excited to see what Hogan can do. “I’ve had some really good discussions with people, specifically within the Bombers. Had I not had those conversations with someone and felt excited, it would have probably been a different conversation, right?” erce seemingly unwilling to show any unique looks for Streveler. That seemed especially odd for an offence that struggled for much of the year, particularly early on, and could have used the spark. “I don’t really know why things went the way they went, to be honest with you. All I can tell you, from my perspective, is I broke a rib in the Ottawa game when I started, and maybe that that kind of hurt things a little bit,” Streveler said. “I was fine. I didn’t miss any time, didn’t miss any games. But I couldn’t really give you a great answer as to why things went the way they went, and that’s why I needed to have those conversations going into free agency. I think that there’s definitely a role that if I’m not starting, to do what we did in 2018 and ’19 and give a change of pace and add a different element. I know I can still do that.” Streveler said his rehab is way ahead of schedule; when he first got injured, doctors were projecting almost a year to reach full health, but Streveler said he is well on track to be ready for training camp in May. He’s already able to run and jump and has been throwing the ball three or four days per week, all while showcasing a positive attitude. Playing QB with a broken rib is no joke yikes.

  4. Most interesting thing I found was that Strev had a broken rib in his first start that really limited what he could do after. It seemed apparent he was injured, now we know. Fully healthy, this guy can still truck.

Tbh I’m not worried about guard and I wouldn’t pay Dobson top dollar. Wallace will be as good this year imo. This, C even more than RT is our issue.

  10. You know what's crazy to me? Jake Thomas needs only 1 sack and 16 games played to exceed Stan Mikawos (Bomber HoFer) in each category. Crazier still if COVID didn't cancel 2020 he might have already pulled it off. Is Jake Thomas actually a future Bomber HoFer?

  11. Fun fact - 10 yrs ago today the Goat of Goats #66 on the field but #1 in your hearts, Stanley Bryant signed with the struggling WPG Blue Bombers, starting the path that would lead to the creation of an absolute CFL powerhouse team, the likes of which hadn't been seen in decades!! Just a ******* LEGEND!!

  12. Is the west rising? Cus I still see a lot of poor built teams here. The whole landscape as been squished but it isn't getting squishy-er. If we run a good offence under hogan, and I think we will, yes. I think strev has as good a chance to lead us to the play offs as most any QB that's moved this off season. Strev is the guy who saved our season last year. If we didn't end up going to him when we did, we never turn that ship around.

  13. Great coaches can still be very flawed. Lapo is a great coach. He isn't great at being an OC, and as a HC can't keep his hands off the offence. If he could accept a HC role where he leads his coaching staff and they run his systems, he'd be an amazing HC any where. Mos is flawed and great as well. He is a world-class culture setter, with one of the highest work ethics you'll ever see. His roster-making is his Kryptonite. He really believes that the rando back ups are as good as the stars in front of them. Because they could be, but many won't and aren't. It's not that hard really, khari was a flawed but great QB. He threw more picks than TDs to guys not named milt. Danny mac too. If blink was a gym rat, if Biggie was bigger, etc. It comes down to a question of, what is the goal. Is our goal to win Gcs or play in them? We are not doing every thing required to win GCs, and haven't the past 3 years. We are doing enough to get to them.

  16. yup....he's a key leader here...and hopefully his comments are foreshadowing that it will be different now....finally....Let him grow and next yr a 1/2 combo of him and Wilson athe top of the QB room would be a good set-up...and affordable...I could care less who is number 3 at that point....take a flier on some insane athlete for that role well...your basing your opinion on the lunacy we used in regards to him....let him be a QB....and yeah...Crum got to play QB too....not fullback

  18. we probably trade him for a conditional 7th round pick now. Then end up needing a LS next year No joke. Any other league a guy going through that would be screaming. Strev is a top tier guy football and in general. His work ethic, mental toughness, and team first mentality is incredible. He is going to find success as a starting QB. Just need to stop handicapping him.

  19. IT was apparent as hell....and for short yardae duty....injury to core like that....good luck...Supreme respect for him being the warrior and not complaining Again tho....this is just another incident of Osh running out injured guys in lieu of healthy...even tho they all number 1's...who's to say we park him on the 6 game a bit....heal him up an he misses that BB game where injured...and IS available at 100 percent in the play-offs........I hope Osh has smartened up with injured guys and rosters capable back-ups through out line up I just dont get th mindset of being content anf happy with...adequate...or hope we can get by with maybe 6 to 8 reps without much drop off....why not damn...I wish we had more reps to give said backup cause he killing it...thats the world I come from and dont get this compacency and attitude of settling...just cause

My ideal news would be Mc Ewen, Oakman and BOLO.....at least think all three are still available....On reasonable contracts, none of them are worth an overpay for...but I always want to add to both the O-line and D-line O-line Mc Ewen is really good, probably a bit pricey but.....I believe he would upgrade our line Oakman...yes partially blinded by his size and athletic ability...but I can picture Vaughters, Willy and Oakman on at the same time, Willy and Oakman both have insane athletic talents...I could see them dominating id Oakman is invested..and he shouldn't be too high of a salary BOLO...I think he fits well here a rotational piece with experience to compliment Celercius, and fill in when Demski is knicked....

  24. No doubt it’s crazy. It’s like Emmitt smith being the all time nfl rushing leader. But not even close to a top 5 or even 10 back. Is Jake a hofer? If mos has any thing to say lol. Honestly our dl talent in the all time pool hasn’t seen many guys join its rank in the past 30 years. I like Jake for a big chunk of his career, especially as a rotational 3tech. (Though I did want more dual big nt imps in 19/21) Im good if he goes into our hall. Hes a great guy and has played a very fruitful career here. Never a selfish moment. His usage since stove left isn’t his fault. I really hate what mos and others have done to guys like Jake. Watching guys run out who can’t play any more is awful. Unfortunately we’ve seen a hell of a lot of this the past 25 years.

  25. You keep saying you think Osh is a great coach and that you never said he should be fired, then talk out your ass like that. Which is it? Pick a lane. If you think he should be fired say so. At least it will be honest. If you think he should not be fired why make a comment like that one?

Me too. Especially with no more buck. I have a lot of optimism for what we could do on O this year. I actually like the back filling strategy. While every one else is racing to pay the top FAs elite money, even if they aren't elite at their position, we are scooping the best guys to be the last imp wr etc. I think the pass catchers we got have a tremendous opportunity to have career years with us. I do wish we had done more on the DL, and OL. But the off season isn't over yet.

  29. I’m kind of excited about guys like Sterns and Logan. I thought Logan was the Stamps most electrifying player, and Sterns put up good numbers when he was in the line up. We had a washed up Lucky trying to play that role last season. Kind of excited what we can do with those two guys. It’s going to be a bigger opportunity for touches after losing Lawler so someone has the chance to step up.

Blue chipper. Don't tell the guy who cuts players, grinds the meat for hotdogs, does social media and film work for the AFL team. He pretty much gets paid in hot dog casings. Every other team coming to with a spending frenzy hang over. Wait, we agreed to give him how much?!

Laroux. He's supposed to be a damn good snapper. The site for team, which is probably run on an angelfire domain, will likely list his role as DL coach, wr coach, trainer, bus driver, and half time hot dog sales associate. All for 8 bucks a game.

  35. I just keep looking at it from the perspective that we’ve got fresh energy. We’ve got new guys coming in, guys bringing new ideas, fresh energy, fresh juice… sometimes that stuff’s needed, man. You go to five straight Cups, you lose three… that’s hard and you need some fresh juice in there to bring a fresh perspective because it can’t just be the same thing over and over again.” Somebody gets it and see's things thru the right perspective lens....hopefully parts of our coaching staff does too

  36. was pretty obvious....even in practice/skelly....he got no reps running anything resembling an offence....so when he got in he always had to work out rut...timing and processing things basically from scratch and no practice...of course he would start out slow....Look at ZC the first 2..3 weeks with no reps in TC...looked like hot garbage Lapo started the deconstruction of him...Buck almost ruined him and got him basically murdered....looking forward to him being an actual QB....Will be huge for us I bet down the stretch you'de be surprised the other interesting comments you could get from others....

  38. The issue with Thomas is that the numbers don't always tell the full story. Several times in the last few seasons he has had gimmie sacks where WJ has two guys hanging off of him and is driving the qb out of the pocket and chasing him down and Thomas gets the easy sack since he's at this point climbed back up after being pushed down and is the only guy on the d-line who isn't being blocked so he can make the easy tackle. I can't think of many or if any "highlights" that Jake Thomas has had in any of the games he has played in. Maybe it's just me being critical and he has made big plays that I'm ignoring... I just can't remember any of them. I don't know for any of our post game threads if anyone has had Thomas in the top 3 or has given him a HH award.

  40. He’s absolutely responsible and always ways. However being dehumanized and treated in ways that would sicken most people has serious long term issues. That era wasn’t exactly known for trauma support.

  41. He was an adult and no longer in the circumstances that produced his dysphoria, so he was responsible for his behaviours.

  42. My rough top group of guys I’d take over smith. sanders, Peyton, lt, brown, Peterson, oj, Faulk, the bus, Dickerson, Henry, gore, and a few guys like mccaffrey, Holmes, Alexander, and Johnson. I think if you swap any of those guys, reasonably healthy onto any of smiths teams they wouldn’t miss a beat. And bring more dynamic play making/explosiveness. people talk about Marino not bringing home a ring aikman being a product of the system and talent. But they’re both ahead of smith for me. Aikman not far in front though lol. Durable as hell though. I’ll give him that. Ya. Which I could see. I think a lot of the 2 ring core vets will get a look.

  43. I don’t get wanting to spend 230-300k on WRs, 200+ on a back and 600k on a qb but not paying dl. I’d much rather pay dl than wr or rb.

I think we got one more move either in free agency in the bargain bin or a trade maybe around draft time. I think we likely target db or maybe ol. It’s already been a very active off season for the cfl and surprising. Expect any thing tbh.
    2 points
  45. Yup. I think it’s actually easier in the cfl, if you have a nose and a couple 3 tech guys who can rush out of a 30, even more so if you have an end who can rush standing up. Guys who can kick in and outside are tremendous. Soo many rushers get caught up going one way only. Power or speed. By the fact is inside the line most teams are weak to any thing more than vanilla. Especially bit elite import athleticism. Stove wasn’t the best technical rusher inside. He was monstrously strong with incredible power. Using quickness to hit hard and drive angles around guards is money in the cfl. Casey sayles does it really well.
    2 points
  46. From the bits I’ve heard I have no doubt that his ire, distrust, and quick temper were stoked by circumstances outside of his control.
