It is no anomaly that the Riders suck - it's just a fact of life.4 points -
I think Brady O will be even better this year, and adding a guy like Randolph at guard would make a big difference. And Strevy needs an actual chance to play. Huge potential on O, if the right moves are made4 points

Elk cut j min pelley. Wonder if we sign him so we can play him beside Jake and have the two slowest linemen in the history of football. great breakdown. Largely agree. I think we will likely be better on the field this year that last year. But, our margin for error at most positions will be drastically smaller. If we see comparable health struggles as we did last year, we will be screwed. Qb and rb agree. wr, weaker than going into last season, stronger than what we actually fielded last year. ol same as wr. Weaker than last year on paper before playing but I think it’ll be better in actuality. db I think we will be better in terms of talent. Guys going into their 2nd year as starters, plus griffin getting a bigger role. I think we go ni at S and end up being the same ratio wise. Lber much improved. dl likely improved in actuality. agree on teams and depth.4 points

IMO Qb-stronger than last year RB-stronger than last year Receiver-this one is really tough, ceiling lower but it appears to be more balanced...for now a wash O-line- as of today weaker-probably my second biggest concern as of Feb. 12th DB-I almost would call it a wash...but Fords passport does hurt, so today I say slightly weaker LB-I actually really like the potential I say it is stronger than last year DL-A better mix of experienced vets mixed in than last year-I thought our D-line was a big concern going into last season and I again think it is this season, in fact my biggest concern on our roster as of Feb 12th-for now a wash Specials-appear to be far stronger Cdn. talent and depth-significant weaker Global-honestly can't evaluate yet Overall stronger in 4 components (QB, RB, LB, specials) Overall weaker in 3 components (O-line, DB, CDN depth) Static in 2 components (Rcvr, DL) and Global I can't......4 points

With Logan and Mitchell on the team, it would be interesting if they ran the O similar to the 2023 49ers when they had a healthy Purdy / McCaffrey / Deebo / Aiyuk with a lot of variety in runs, qb moving out of the pocket, quick passes with the potential of great YAC which then opened up many deep balls down the field. I'm not sure if Zach is capable of doing a short game anymore though and if he is stuck as a drop back passer tossing it deep regardless if the receiver is open or not.3 points

And now it’s 2025 and last year Zach was looking like washed Aaron Rodgers. He made lots off dumb decisions like throwing into double or triple coverage lots. Looking for the long bomb instead of the dude open 7 yards away. I’d call it rookie mistakes. And Zach ain’t that. He was good in 2023 but really last year was his worst and that’s scary cuz dude ain’t gonna magically get younger and better. I personally would have signed Dru when I had the chance and possibly traded Zach for a nice haul.3 points -

Rosters always look weaker when you lose players to free agency and they don't get replaced by other free agents. Bottom line this teams improvements will come mainly from young players improving and new recruits stepping up. Free agency is headline grabbing and can be used to bolster some areas of need, but to maintain a winning team you must be able to replace people through your recruiting/drafting.3 points

He got outplayed by nick arbuckle and Cody fajardo... mcleod bethel Thompson too... why we making excuses for the highest paid qb in the league over that period? You wanna be paid like the best you don't get outplayed by the likes of them.2 points

So, I'm still a believer in Zach, but here's where the middle ground is, I think: While Zach is still very capable of being the elite 2022 guy that was putting up gaudy stats, it does seem like those games are becoming less and less frequent. I remain hopeful that the 2024 West Final is something he can do more regularly, but he definitely needs a lot of help to do it (primarily his protection, as it seems like he gets happy feet very easily these days). And where a lot of people are having an issue is that he's being paid for 2022 Zach and being paid like a guy who shouldn't need as much help as he does. Taking the salary out of the conversation, I still believe in a healthy Zach's ability to lead us to a Grey Cup, with the right tools around him.2 points -
We will find out what kind of hawks we have now. Jim Jauch is pretty much considered one of the best receiver bird dogs out there, and has brought in some good talent for the Lions DesLauriers will be our NAT guy primarily. He and Walters will be scouting the CIS a lot. Not much of a resume for DesLauriers yet and this may be the biggest area of concern from last year. This was Goveia's wheelhouse with the Bombers. Brock Sunderland was well regarded enough as a recruiter of talent to earn himself an assistant GM job followed by a GM chance. He is a horrible GM.....but the man has an undeniable eye for talent. Honestly, the trio we picked up is probably far better at IMP recruitment than the duo we lost but KW is going to have to dust off his scouting hat again for us to keep pace at NAT recruitment.2 points

Don't bother. Bringing up his good games won't change anyone's mind. They watched a masterful performance in the West final but chose to ignore it. They watched an Argos DL completely dominate our OL in last year's Grey Cup and an OC completely refuse to alter the game plan when it happened....but it's on Zac. They watched Zac turn his game around the entire 2nd half of the season and be the best QB in the league in the 2nd half of the season but choose to focus on the first 6 games where our OL was swiss cheese and our receivers didn't know the playbook. Zac still has more than enough game to win us a Grey Cup this year. Can he win it alone? Nope. Gonna need help....all QBs do.2 points -

He was helpful in the WF (19-26, 301, 4 TDs). He wasn't sacked in that game, which has much to do with pivot performance - just ask Mahomes.2 points -
I think he wanted to try down south again...but he is what we need....strong and athletic...and just a smidge over undersized but athletic ....just want u want2 points

We may have to go 3 IMP OL, and I am Ok with that. Randolph represents a massive upgrade to Dobson. If Wallace is good enough to beat out Randolph I will be tickled pink. Would like the Bombers to still pick up a solid NAT OL for insurance though. 8th could be FB like in past years or we use a NAT safety. Another option is nationalized IMPs. Dyson.2 points

Back to back MOP and highest rated QB in 2023. Yep..we didn't need him. Yep. Last year wasn't a great year but he was the best QB by just about every statistically relevant category in the last half of the season. Was the highest rated QB in 2023, and back to back MOPs the two years before that. I will entertain the notion that he may be on the down slope, and that his playoff performances are at best average but the revisionist history about his over all contribution to this 5 year run we are on is kind of mind boggling.2 points -

In fairness most teams this year have not signed "big time players" outside the two teams who were the worst last year. I assume teams like Toronto have faith in the ability to recruit rather then blow the money on free agents.2 points

Sums up my original point exactly. He's getting $600k elite hard money (including $100k bonus Jan 15) but the club is no longer getting elite play from him. Bombers are hamstrung - paying more for a diminishing asset. I don't blame Collaros for taking the dough - it could be his last year so, y'know, take the money. But Walters should've seen this coming and done more to mitigate shambolic O line pass pro. With the OC changes, I could see ZC actually playing less this season and more emphasis on run and run-option. Backfield with Oliveira, Streveler, Peyton Logan and Demski with some creativity and misdirection gonna be interesting.1 point -

Collaros didn't play well in the GC games. But he also wasn't put in a position to play well in those games. It's very rarely about 1 guy. I don't think paying him as much as they have been is worth it, but they made that bed a while ago and have to sleep in it now. I know 1 thing is for certain. That was his biggest cheque of his career, past or future.1 point -

Really? Are we taking this statement literally without reality mixed in, especially with football being the ultimate team sport? So along with his mistakes which he definitely needs to own, if his line isn't offering the needed protection on certain plays, if his receivers aren't running the right routes at times, if his RB's miss a blocking assignment, if his OC calls the wrong play (s) during games, if his Defense and ST's aren't up to snuff with certain plays, if his headcoach/OC don't sit him when he's injured regardless of him wanting to stay in, paying him $600,000 a year and the expectations you are setting on him trump this reality? Wow.1 point -

Well put. I don't think is an either or discussion, i.e., ZC can't seem to win the big one anymore and is trending down versus ZC has got us to 5 straight GC's. We need to give him the necessary tools and I would add incorporate CS way more into the equation than a gimmicky decoy (sorry Buck, good luck but BC sucks). And don't forgot about Terry Wilson. We ultimately need to transition from ZC so lets make it the goal that this transition of our QB status be as seamless as possible. Easier said than done.1 point -

I still think the WF against the Riders was a bit of an anomaly, explain how a team gets to the WF and is still so incapable of coordination they commit 3 broken coverage errors allowing Kenny Lawler (of all players) to sneak behind them for uncontested TD's. The game turned into a cakewalk, which may have led to over confidence in the potency of their passing attack against the Argos.1 point -

Nothing wrong with DesLauriers resume, he's only 43, he played 9 years with the Als and spent the last 8 years working in their front office. Deslauriers retired as a player in February 2016 but stayed with the Alouettes as a football operations assistant and scout.[1] He was named as the team's Player Personnel Coordinator on July 18, 2019 shortly after the dismissal of the team's general manager, Kavis Reed.[2] He was promoted to Director of Football Operations after the 2019 Montreal Alouettes season on December 18, 2019.[3]1 point -

I can't see how our roster isn't worse than last year at the moment.1 point -
right now we have zero proven depth on our Oline....none...and we dont even know who is at right guard....we weaker than last yr and how is that even possible? One of Eli and Wallace will grab a spot.....and or be the extra oline guy...and thats factoring Kolo at center...which is still a weak spot...3 yrs running now...If Eli is allowed to compete for Center and take it over Kolo isnt even a good candidate for the 6th giy as he is only serviceable at center....and thats being generous.....if someone was to go down we would have to shuffle other guys on the oline to make it work....and I have a shiiity feeling we gonna have to waste a DA on an import olineman this yr unless we go with a straight outta University guy Again hamstringing our roster with a useless DA like we did with Mr Marine...... Dline much the same...we have 2 ends who we know can play....thats it....2 promising interior guys who we know are gonna be getting reps taken away by drip and drop Canadians.....sure we have Lawson back which helps, but anyone with half a brain and knows the man love Osh has for Thomas that he gonna get more than too many reps in lieu of him...Our dline as much as many claim that Haba and Garbutt and Fox were no loss...is a lot weaker Not sure what the plan is, but to me looks like there wasnt much of one and we didnt pursue anyone to shore up our lines.....or.....we lost out on players not named Ceresna because they flat out didnt wanna come here....or.....Osh indicated to Walters that " we good"...I leaning more to the "we good" side until proven otherwise after camp and maybe he makes the tough cuts1 point
