  1. Ellingson played well during his one year in Wpg and had great chemistry with Zach, if not for a season ending injury he likely goes over 1,000 yds. It was also the same year Schoen led the league as a rookie. 2022 WPG 8 50 38 598 109 3 15.7 46 Same could be said for Dressler, only a Bomber for 2 seasons but in that time he was a valuable part of the offence.

  2. Nothing. It’s a weird comparison, especially with Darvin Adams sitting right there. Too bad neither one of Darvin or TE literally had their knee explode into a million pieces before we signed them like RWJ.

  3. He’s done a few Jets games.

  4. We got a good season from Dressler in 2016, he was a thousand yard guy and led us is catches and yardage. Was always a Dressler fan so enjoyed see him playing for the good guys. but yeah when the Bombers don't get good results from signing veteran receivers. I'd add Nick Moore and Chris Matthews to your list of vets who haven't worked out.

  5. He just seems really bitter and angry about Greg Ellingson for some reason...

  6. Are you just saying names from the past 20 years? The Bombers have been fairly good at bringing talent into the CFL at the receiver position. Better than most teams in the past 5 years.

  7. What's the relevance. Since that time we've been fairly consistent in finding receivers. Bailey, Schoen, Lawler, Wilson. Wheatfall has potential as well.

  8. Yeah i was just going to bring up that Adams is a much better guy to use as a comparable. He was a seemingly depth signing that turned out well. But like you said, using a guy with injury issues as a comp probably not the best anyway.

  9. At least we had Josh Johnson, last year......

  11. There were plenty of great players in Wpg. that just missed out on the 2019 GC win, most brought into the league by the Bombers. Easy to forget them now as their career timing was bad, but many of them could make the team today if they showed up in their prime. Partial list drawn from faltering memory. Mo Leggett, Taylor Loffler, JSK, Ian Wild, Khalil Bass, Westerman, Chris Randle, Greg Peach, Mathias Goosen, Bryant Turner., Clarence Denmark, and Dangerous Don Unamba!

  12. So, we signed a blind guy. At least he wasn't dead.

  13. Ellingson was great! Early on with the loss of Lawler he really stepped up, sometimes you can’t avoid injuries. He was on pace for nearly 1400 yards that season, and when he went out Schoen actually stepped in and became a star so I think it worked out great. also the other names being floated around were fine in Winnipeg, Dressler was a 1000 yard guy who helped bring stability after that terrible 2015 season, and Moore was a good not great receiver on a bad team. The only one who truly didn’t workout that was mentioned was bringing in an old Bowman after a slew of injuries. I don’t think anyone expected him to be prime Edmonton Bowman at that point.

  14. Ellingson was hurt... but he was a good vet when in and allowed schoen some time. Hard to really say it was terrible, and dresser did good here too. Honestly a lot of the problems we're hearing about are actually lapo problems. Lawler wasn't Lawler until lapo buggered off.

  15. For Ellingsons impact here and what he did...it's like he wasn't even here..was a stop gap at best and best thing he did was get hurt as it allowed Schoen to step up...so in that regard it was a win

  16. Wilson hasn't proved anything yet...one good yr...now was that an aberration...or is that just scratching the surface? Lumping him into great finds is a bit premature We found Schoen ourselves...Lawler was a guy we didn't bring in...but saw him in B.C so took a chance...much like Adams in t.o...which also worked out...but this regimes success at reciever isn't glowing by any stretch Db been lights out tho...drafting of Cdn oline as well...but with import oline guys we got lucky big Stan chose here...and Hardrick panned out but we didn't find him...took a flyer...I think tho having an outstanding oline coach helped there...and with our line in general ....but name another import we have found who is killing it

  17. Darvin Adam's worked out well? Also when they had brought in Dressler, Ryan Smith, Ellington, Moore.. all of those came off as big FA signings coming off good seasons. Are we forgetting about whitehead in his first go around, Demski and Schoen? Receiver is one position where we have not struggled since the Mike Kelly era.

  20. We struggled more finding a good vet wr in fa. We did well with our own guys. And for a long time, wr was the excuse. It hasn’t been our primary limiting factor for a long long time. It was who and how we got WRs the ball. Not much any wr can do when every d knows the pass is going to be with in 5 yards of the line and short of the first down.

  21. KC invisible. Josh and Helle not. USA 3 Canada 1. Binnington letting in goals Helle doesn’t is the difference. really is. Helle is an elite top 3 nhl goaltender prob best currently in the league. Binnington ain’t top 20 even. Keeping Logan Thompson at home was dumb. Not saying he’d make a difference cuz not gonna win scoring 1 but not gonna win letting in 1 awful goal a game also. Binnington has done that every game.

  22. As per his cfl.ca stats... 0 = 100 yard games His longest reception is 45 yards in length, after that one big reception he has a handful of 30 - 35 yards receptions. I wouldn't consider that a deep threat?

  23. Weak goal given up by Billington. Helle playing strong. Canada to win, 3 Jets stay healthy will be perfect.

  24. Yep. Wasn't really talking about Lewis as much as Hervey though. Hervey not wanting to pay $300k for a receiver is fine but airing that out publicly only to see the receiver in question sign with another team for closer to $200k, he just looks clueless. Maybe if he had actually talked to Lewis, he would have realized $300k wasn't on the table and he could have kept Lewis at a reasonable price. Instead they'll role with one or two legit receivers, a couple retreads and hope they uncover a stud.

  25. You do realize that Edwards signed with the Bombers in 2007? So, "the last time" was 18 years ago. The last time we signed a running back from Lincoln, Nebraska. That was 70 years ago & it worked out pretty good too. Just sayin'. However, I do get the meaning of your message.

  26. True but 1800 yards in two seasons isn’t all pro numbers, there’s a way to communicate things for sure but Lewis isn’t as good as he thinks he is.

  27. I’m not as down on our team as many people are either. Remember there were games where we were without Schoen, Lawler, Demski, Wheatfall, and Woli on offense. Losing Lawler hurts but bringing White Jr, Sterns, and Cobb and getting a healthy Schoen and another year of development from Clericus I think puts us in a decent spot not to mention maybe getting creative and including a guy like Logan into the offense. On D getting a healthy Lawson, and Parker back is also important not to mention, jones, and Vaughters. There’s going to be a lot of opportunity for guys to step up, also looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Gabe Wallace who’s an absolute monster.

  28. I agree with that. We lost talent off the top and answered it with depth. Agree. I think secondary is better. As ford to import at the easiest position in the secondary is a wash at worst. The rest will improve by having a second year with a bunch of guys. Plus moving on from ba will improve us imo. our ol will be a bit better by having time to play with each other. Our imp depth is much better but our ni depth is worse, and our star power too level talent is worse. We will be far more susceptible to injuries on the top end of the roster, we need vets we picked up to excel in our system and we really need to hit on an all star with in our development guys and rookies.

  32. Sneaky good pick up imo. Like Dexter as a guy who can elevate the battle for the last starting db. Really like Trey vaval and cam Allen too. Allen isn’t a crazy athlete but average ish. Tremendous instincts and a great fit for our system if he can manage the open field speed. Hes another natural safety which is really interesting. Though I could see him playing an inside wall defender in our drop 7 scheme. vaval is another down field on the ball play maker. 5 blocked kicks in college which is pretty insane. Not an elite athlete but a much better on the field guy than a tester.

  36. I remember an intrepid crew that grew restless with their existing football forum, so they left and made their own. Today it's the best football forum on the internet with free membership, multiple cash prizes, and <cough> insider info. I challenge anyone that thinks they could do better to go ahead and do it, we'd love to see it

  37. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Freisen is a hack. He's always taken shots at the Bombers. "They're cheap skates!" because they're spending the amount they can spend? So dumb. It's a click bate narrative for low iq football fans

  39. I don't think it's wrong to say the Bombers beat the tar out of the riders in the WF. They did. They did so by having a game plan to attack the weakest part of their defense (regardless of what the media said, it was their secondary by a mile) AND make Trevor win the game for them, which was never an option. They also had the right players play well. When they win, it's because all of the components have come together properly. Just like when they lose, it's because multiple things fail. To push it to one person not doing this or doing that is just flat out incorrect. Go ahead and say a qb should win games by himself. That's an incredibly ignorant take and completely ignores the reality of what makes football the greatest game on the planet.

  40. KJG & Gittens as the top 2 receivers with Odoms-Dukes chipping in and then hoping they can uncover someone? Definitely not their strongest position at the moment.
