  2. We cancelled our two weeks in Sedona that was planned for January as soon as T-Rump was elected. A wonderful place but....

  3. Hoping that's 95 days until Thomas is kicked off the starting lineup!

  4. Commonwealth is a dump with a poor design for either type of football because of the track. That's the problem. They care less about seat count.

  5. As usual, pushed so far back that there's no qb within 25 yards of him.

  7. Star Wars has always had a huge British element to it (from the Empire being based on Imperial England, to many actors being British and much of the filming/production being done in England). Lucas, at times, gets too much credit and not enough blame (IMO). His writing has always been a bit clunky - his ex-wife cleaned up a lot of the dialogue in the original trilogy to make it work. She did not work on the prequels and it showed. You also can't really say anything past 1981 strayed from his vision when then prequels (1999-2005) were 100% him and they were no where near as good as the original trilogy. The original series had different directors/producers and such so that wasn't a huge change (those 3 films each had a different director, 2 different producers and 3 screenwriters) but Lucas was there to handle the overall story for the first 6 movies, which the last 3 did not. I think the last 3 films could have been better if there was some continuity off the screen in overseeing the story to make it consistent. They started out good on that path by bringing Lawrence Kasdan (co-writer on Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi) to co-write The Force Awakens so they fit well with the original trilogy. Abrams was offered The Last Jedi but turned it down (because Disney's schedule had no time off between filming the projects & he needed a break) so they brought Rian Johnson in. Johnson had no connection to the series and he had his own vision, so he went in a different direction with some things. Abrams came back for Rise of Skywalker but now had to to tie his original story into what Johnson had done and it wasn't great as a result. I think if Abrams had been able to do all 3, it would have been much better but we'll never know.

  8. My point is Toronto doesn't deserve to have a WC game. Edmonton would have been a better choice. It was completely a political choice.

  9. Alexander was such a key piece for this team's rise. Even when he was clearly past his prime last season it's so hard to say bad things about the guy.

  10. Ba calls it a career. https://3downnation.com/2025/03/09/veteran-bombers-db-brandon-alexander-announces-retirement-from-cfl/ 8 years strong with 1 professional team. To the Blue Bombers that gave me a chance to play ball again I’m grateful and hopefully every day of my 8 years, I showed how grateful I was/am for that opportunity. My teammates/fans over that period of time made it easy to go to put it on the line everyday. I can’t thank the fans enough that accepted me into your home of Winnipeg, Manitoba. You’ve seen me start my career as a 23-year-old young adult. Always stood behind me and watched me grow into the football player y’all loved to cheer for. Winnipeg only shines because you all put the lights in and on the stadium. I will miss the love I’ve felt over the years. #1 fanbase in the CFL without a doubt. And to my teammates, ya’ll already know what it is. Too many memories were given to me that I will carry for the rest of my life. Can’t replace that. “Love y’all boys.” 37 out”

  12. I envied Edmonton for their LRT system back in the early 2000's, but from what I've heard it's since gotten as bad or worse than Winnippeg public transit has, somehow (in terms of understaffing routes or underserving neighbourhoods, being even remotely on schedule, so on). Edmonton is Winnipeg with topography

  14. Edmonton is Winnipeg with money, plain and simple. I do vastly prefer Winnipeg because I prefer The Shield to The Rockies, but Edmonton is without a doubt my favourite of the two major Alberta cities.

  15. We might have to hang on to that when Osh (or whoever it is) makes those curious decisions with limited DL, heavy starter reps for Jake, etc...

  20. Toronto has the national soccer stadium. There's a 0% chance they aren't using it for World Cup. So it came down to Edmonton vs Vancouver vs Montreal. Montreal's stadium is a dump, Edmonton's is a dump and they lacked amenities to be part of hosting group stage, Vancouver has a current stadium that has hosted a FIFA Women's World Cup final and aligns well with other PNW sites for group stage. If Montreal had an adequate stadium we'd probably have 3 cities hosting.

  21. We all enjoy when our rivals have eras of futility and spin their tires in the mud. Speaking for myself, in seasons where the Argos don't win it all I find it a source of comfort and laughter that the TiCats are still without a win in this millenium.

  22. That was a poorly officiated game. Just not a great day for the Jets, overall.

You mean Lucas didn't envision Luke Skywalker as being a weak pathetic cry baby when he originally created the character?

  24. I don't think Miller had any coaching aspirations but it happened. I only thought it might be a possibility for BA based on the way he's been described as essentially being an on-field coach for us.

  27. Love that guy... Wish he could have gone out on top. He gave everything for us. Huge thank you for everything he did to end that GC drought and give us these golden years.

  28. 3DN misinterpreted his goodbye to the Bombers as him announcing his retirement. His agent clarified he's still looking to play next season. "He took to social media on Sunday to thank the team for their time together, which some outlets, including this one, interpreted as a retirement message. Instead, Alexander’s agent reached out to 3DownNation to explain that his client isn’t retiring and is still actively looking for his next playing opportunity."

  32. Soccer is a popular sport. Every kid plays. It’s cheap it’s simple it’s a ball and cleats. problem is soccer isn’t a draw in Canada. 30k is a big crowd for soccer here and the US really. You look at those soccer only mls stadiums and they aren’t that big. Why have 72000 seats when you can’t regularly draw 30000.

  37. The other aspect is that sometimes venting and grumbling is just that... as an example I'll go ***** about my workplace but I'm still overall happy here and no real designs on leaving. Point? None I guess, just that context is everything and we all apply our own biases to all the information we are presented with.

  38. That's why there was a couple of WC qualifying matches against Mexico in Edmonton played in the December 2023 cold & snow & had 52000 fans in the stands. Those damned curious farmers who love soccer, there are nearly two million of them in Edmonton. And another two million farmers in Calgary. Oh & another 105,000 in Red Deer. And another 100,000 northern farmers in Fort MacMurray.
