  1. My knock on Dobson is he looked almost lost after his initial engagement....and in second level....correctable?...you would think...but maybe we tried with him all yr working on things and he just wasnt progressing.??..who knows That being said Kolo was no help at all with chips an tandems....also was genrally over matched 90% of time so that may have been part of it too as him not being able to get to second assignment and it hamperd our guards...has for several yrs now and a change there with even just an average center would fix so many things that seem like issues on the oline BUT.......Osh just loves Kolo and it's mainly his fascination with guys...especially Canadian ones who are under dogs....lack top tier talent...and any kind of upside but try hard and are for whatever reason ticke his fancy....and it hurts us...all through his tenure here we have rostered 1..2 guys who have no business being starters...let alone even in the mix for anything....and again this yr...barring seson ending injury my guess is we are gonna have to deal with 2..maybe 3 guys again who aren't the best option....but are Osh's option

  2. So first of all Tiger Shanks is a dang cool name. Second, is he a guy you grab in round 1, round 2 or later?

  3. guess we will see once camp breaks who Osh has decided....I don't necessarily mean starter....but a guy who gets on roster and gets lotsa reps over....anyone who's better and or not required for ratio purposes in a rotation\ Be interesting when attending camp to see the talent/upside....usefulness of players...and who gets the shaft this yr But I would say if Schmeck shows no development/and or effectiveness, and is rostered just cause he been here a few yrs now...thats a classic Osh maneuvered and isn't giving us our best roster O'd say Kramdi needs to be head and shoulders better than Makonzo as well in order to get majority of reps if we go National at SAM....And again....putting an import there (Griffin/Parker/possible new guy) would give us a better roster but we know we won't.....But Makonzo when he played the position as a rookie showed more...and has better skill set

  4. Nice pick play by Namestnikov on the game winner in OT. Sold it well enough to look like an accident, but the Jets may have gotten away with a missed call there

  5. Wicked football name for sure. Really depends on his nfl interest, how he performs in drills and 10 yard split. It’s a double edged sword, if his testing mobility is strong and he shows a high upside for tackle, he gets a better longer look at the nfl. If he is a priority fa he goes higher if he’s drafted in the nfl probably worse. Hes a first round talent, top few picks. I think the only op in this class that is top 4 calibre. Wallace was an excellent draft prospect last year, with far better mobility than expected partly because he came in much lighter than he played. But shanks is a different tier. A Canadian who can play T at an imp level is the ultimate ratio breaker.

  7. I will agree that pass pro was a problem across the entire OL and that Kolo didn't help matters. Yea...my main point is that I am not all that sad to see him go at that price. Imo, he's another Sukh Chungh.

  8. He wasn't regularly or routinely lined up against the league's elite DTs Ceresna had his number last year. Ceresna also had all our interior OL's numbers. And if you are only struggling against the elite DTs in the league as a first-year starter, that does NOT make you over rated lol. That makes you one step away from an elite G. You haven't watched nearly enough interior line play then, because stove, sayles, brown and a ton of other guys have been that good or better just here over the past 25 years. Fact is, the elite rushing 3Techs win the battles one on one with guards and centres in this league. Think about it, the interior OL are almost never at the level of an elite import in terms of technique or athleticism. That is part of why teams always play Canadian guards and centres, but not tackles. You can slide and double the inside guys easily. You can't do that to cover up at the edge nearly soo easily or effectively. Normally, 2 average starting Canadian interior OL will handle an elite imp 3T 95% of the time. If you try to double an end with a guard, you open a huge pass rushing lane in side, with the fastest route to the QB possible. Guards cant get help from Ts when ends speed rush either, which teams did to us a lot last year as we struggled greatly with health at tackle, and speed off the edge. This is the crux of why Ceresna whipped us soo bad last year. We had no 2nd OL capable of aiding in the double. Neuf had some kind of awful injury and played his worst ball for 3/4 of the year, and Kola is a fringe PR guy. Dobson wasn't a star early, but mid season he was firmly in the 2nd tier of guards league wide.

  9. Tracking the elimination and playoff clinching of all NHL teams. With the Blues win last night, San Jose has become the first team mathematically eliminated from playoff contention this year. They can do no better than 73 points, tied with both Vancouver and St Louis who are in a dead heat for the final playoff spot in the West. Since those two teams play each other on Thursday, the Sharks will be officially eliminated that night. Smallest magic # (to clinch a playoff spot): 6 - Winnipeg (both the Jets and the Capitals can clinch a playoff spot as early as March 20). Smallest tragic # (to be eliminated from playoff contention): 1 - San Jose (can be eliminated as early as March 18, will be eliminated no later than March 20).

  12. I'm also optimistic that we will see considerable improvements this year here even with Kolo. Healthy Bryant, Neuf, Lofton should progress and pick up where he left off at worst, and Wallace could take a big step forward other wise and Randolph should be ready to take a job at Rt or RG if needed. I think Vanterpool could be a high-level starting guard this year if required as well. If we replace Kolo one way or another, we could have an elite OL by mid-season IMO. In Wallace and Randolph in particular, I see critical intangibles that Dobson never showed here.

    Game 68 : @Grunge

Jets are now 11 pts clear of Dallas. Cannot understate how huge that win against Dallas was. They started sluggish but found a way to win

  17. https://3downnation.com/2025/03/16/canadian-born-ol-tiger-shanks-added-to-2025-cfl-draft-sources/ RT added to the cfl draft. If he fails he could be moved to rg, but I think he projects extremely well at rt in the cfl. He will be in an nfl camp this year, but I think he’s still gonna be a first or second rounder. “All-Mountain West selections, taking home back-to-back honours in 2023 and 2024. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed just 11 pressures and one sack over 410 pass-blocking snaps last season.” “ TIGER SHANKS, UNLV REBELS Total Points Earned: 35.90 (19th) Points Earned Pass Block: 16.61 Points Earned Run Block: 19.29 All Blown Block RK: 45th Pass Blown Block %: 2.50% Run Blown Block %: 1.90% Summary Analysis: Tiger Shanks has shown remarkable growth and consistency on UNLV’s offensive line. In 2023, Shanks earned 35.90 total points, with solid performances in both pass blocking (16.61 points) and run blocking (19.29 points), according to PFF. His low blown block percentages, 2.50% in pass protection and 1.90% in run blocking reflect his reliability and effectiveness. Shanks’ strong performance and ability to create holes in the ground game make him a key player for UNLV and a promising NFL prospect.”

  20. Kolankowski never had a best before date, he's always been what he is. The point is, if they wanted a change at centre eli is right there... but kolankowski on a cheap contract is not the same situation as Dobson expecting to be paid like a top OL. Honestly if Wallace steps up like expected I'd be shocked if he isn't retained at whatever the cost to do it is. You're angry about Dobson, fine but you can't ver pay everyone just because.

  22. I agree on Kelly...didnt include him as seen him as an already somewhat established guy...although limited in time here he has showed huge skill already and even higher upside....Love if he could grab that safety spot...he closes like a missile and has real good instincts already for a young guy...huge upside and we don't need a thumper at safety Totally forgot about Makonzo....big under radar signing...he showed real good at SAM before he got hurt as a rookie....better than our guy Kramdi and he still has immense upside...Kramdi I don't see anymore upside...and he isnt as athletically gifted as Makonzo either I'd like to see Kramdi is the versatile swiss army guy who can take reps behind both Kelley and Makonzo (if he back to 100 percent health) and be that huge depth piece who can also start if need be Griffin is the ace in hole I think and wonder what they do with him....I'd like to see him....or Parker at SAM....and whoever gets beat out can fill either corner or HB.....Both those guys have extreme athleticism for the roles and are actually guys who cover well and close on guys in space like a magnet...and are real good tacklers...Kramdi is horrible in coverage...gets lost in space and isnt a good open field tackler...he's fine in a scrum and crashing down in the box playing more of a spy/contain role.....but as a SAM....who should be one your better cover guys and tacklers and have greasy fluid hips to range around and flip his hips to cover a guy...and in that role you may be responsible for a teams #1 or 2 slot...he's just not that guy....he just isnt Go to any practice and when db's/lb's do techical work.... and watch Parker move...pivot...shift outta backpeddle to pursuit....smooth as smooth.....He's got that ability that Denmark had to move/cut/pivot at top speed and not have to gear down....then watch Kramdi.....and you will see my point...And it's not that I hate Kramdi and dont want him on the team....it's more his role...or what it should be...and his price tag for what he offers is a bit of a hinderance to us

  23. Griffins I think, will kick out and fill a full-time role left by Ford. We aren't likely to double shift S and Sam, especially with the level of turnover we have in experience. Kelly has given no reason to lack confidence in him. He's our best Canadian cover guy. Kramdi is likely best off at Sam. He's good at jumping backfield plays based on his read; he isn't athletic enough to do that from S, few guys are. He isn't strong at making downhill plays downfield at all. He's a wall player and isn't strong if he has to pick up a man in straight cover. S in our system especially demands a guy who can keep the top on the D, pick up on deep breaks, be quick laterally to get to spots, and make downhill plays. We don't need a hitter, and we don't need at ball hawk at S. Those are nice to have, but it's not really the fit we need. If anything, Holm would be a much better fit at S.

  24. The Bombers bankroll the U16 and U18 provincial teams along with camps run all winter and spring in preparation, and not just for the more elite group who end up making those teams. Also U12 and U14 academy programs on top of that. In addition to bankrolling WHSFL league operations, supporting RMFL and supplying all minor football programs, some more than others based on need. They've been running a flag program for a long time. Both at indoor soccer facility and a summer program. I'd bet amateur football in MB would shrink by half if the Bombers pulled back. It costs way less to run a high school program now than when I played because of their support, like by 1/3.

  25. Coakes and Stokman are local guys that we'd be insane to pass on if we get the chance to pick them, both OL. Coakes is 1st round quality considering availability, C/G type, played lots of centre at UBC. Dorazio was OL coach there his early years so has had some of the best coaching you'll get at U Sports/NCAA level to be CFL-ready. Stokman 2nd-4th round range IMO. Crazy athletic and strong, started as a tackle for Bisons and moved inside as he filled out. Either one of these guys could be 6th man as a rookie and step in to play, especially Coakes. If I'm Walters I probably take Coakes first if he's on the board and Stokman with our 2nd pick if he's still on the board. No use waiting around. There's enough DB's and receivers in this draft that there will be good ones probably through round 4-5. The younger Rourke is a legit NFLer and also busted up. He has the arc of a guy who sits in the NFL for awhile, has a few more camp/pre-season injuries, sits on IR's, retires at 29-30 with bum knees. I wouldn't pick him until like the 6th round, maybe.
