Totally agree with this and it’s something the Jets haven’t done. I understand hitting McDavid isn’t easy, but we passed up so many opportunities in prior games. Got to be physical and try to fluster him a bit.

Yeah, I know why they did it, but why couldn’t they start the Leafs - Habs game earlier? The Jets and their fans always seem to get the short end of this stick.

It would be nice if someone could give us a little insight as to how he looked. Being on the ice is one thing, but how he was moving around, how he was shooting, etc, is much more important.

Ugh, forget it. If you think Thompson, at age 36, deserves to be in the lineup, so be it. I strongly disagree. And for clarity, I’ve been suggesting that Gustafsson get time since the season began, not ‘at this stage’. Didn’t want Thompson on the team from day one.

Thanks for telling me I’m childish, dad. I never said changing up the 4th line would cure the team of all its problems, but it could possibly inject a little life into a poor line. And I’m not necessarily dumping on Thompson; I’m more dumping on the decision to play him. I didn’t specifically say Harkins could take Thompson’s spot on the PK, I’d use Gustafsson, but what makes you think it’s a terrible idea? People act like there are no other options than Thompson. I do agree that this team’s issues are multiple and the top 6 definitely need to perform better.... As does the coaching.

Come on. You actually think that Thompson is irreplaceable on the PK? Please. Playing guys like Thompson is a reason why the Jets are stagnating. Wouldn’t you rather see a 4th line of Harkins, Gustafsson and Lewis? For once I’d like to have a bit of anticipation when our 4th line comes on the ice. Thompson is a beer leaguer that wouldn’t be on any other NHL team.

Don’t want to derail the thread, but D men were brought up and specifically, the size of our D. It made me wonder why Johnathan Kovacevic doesn’t get any consideration. He’s 6-5, 220lbs and is currently a +10 with the Moose. He’s also got 14 points in 29 games, which isn’t bad. I haven’t seen him play, outside of a few clips and highlights, so I’m not saying he could step in and play, but I never even hear him mentioned.

I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t think Jets are going anywhere in the playoffs, so why not get Heinola and Stanley some valuable post season experience? I’m not so sure we’d be any worse off anyway.

The HUGE difference there is, everyone knows what you get from Forbort and Benn. They are players who are what they are and they’re not going to get any better. Heinola is a skilled young player with big potential. I’d rather see Heinola develop, with a few possible hiccups, than an average and below average defenseman, make the same mistakes with no upside.

Give me a break.... Kid makes a mistake and we should condemn him? He’s going to be a very good player, but there will be a bump or two along the way.... Like there is with every young player.

I hope all of the Jets’ good bounces are coming in the playoffs, because they’re getting a **** load against these last few weeks. I also acknowledge that they’ve played like crap. Not making excuses.

Hellebuyck has always been terrible at handling the puck, so I doubt it has much to do with the quality of our D. Would like to know if Flaherty or anyone else works with him on this. We have other options on D, but Maurice won’t play them... Especially at the same time. Stanley AND Heinola in the lineup in the same game? Never.
