I heard the Germans had an opportunity to tweak their schedule and opted not to. They knew their first 2 games were likely loses, regardless. I have no idea what you mean by ‘no sportsmanship in a game like that’. What would you have team Canada do? Let up and risk injury? If they won 8-2, would that make you feel better? Because if either German goalie could make a few routine saves or not cough the puck up, that may have happened. I just don’t get this narrative that the Canadians did anything unsportsmanlike. It’s ridiculous.

I’d switch Laine and Wheeler and not think twice about it. I like Wheeler, but it’s time for Laine to be on the top line. And it’s not like it’s a big demotion... He’ll play with Stastny and Ehlers, which I’m betting will be very successful. Some have said Wheeler is more well rounded and better defensively... I’m not so sure that gap is as big as you think. Laine has really improved and I’ve noticed Wheeler coasting many times in the D zone. I actually think Wheeler was better defensively when he was a centerman because he was more focused on his positional responsibilities.
