Precipitation should stay as rain for much of the day, but by late in the afternoon a changeover to snow may begin to build eastwards across the Red River Valley. Most areas will receive 10 to 20 mm of rain through the day, though locally higher values are possible. There is a small chance that the changeover to snow could happen earlier in the day. If that happens, then up to 5 cm of snow would be possible by the evening. The precipitation will switch over to snow across the Red River Valley on Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday. Accumulations will vary widely across the region with as little of a trace of snow possible over the northeastern Red River Valley and as much as 10 to 20 cm along the western escarpment. This system will exit the region with improving conditions later this week. This system will push temperatures back towards seasonal values, though a more significant cold snap doesn't look likely until next week.
