2 Games ;2 Losses; 0 Holding Calls on Riders
mfranc replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Really, so what's your definition of holding as it applies to the rule book and give specific examples of more holding calls on passing plays than running plays. What don't you enlighten me? You seem to know it all. Offensive line guru are you?Typically, holding is more likely to be called if the OLineman turns the defensive player. Holding on running plays is less likely because the blockers are stepping forward to initiate contact instead of with pass protection where they are typically stepping backward and responding to where the defenders are coming from. Also, in pass protection depending on the scheme they may have to maintain their blocks much longer. Anyway, to shoot holes in all the conspiracy theories the Riders have been called for holding more then any other team. And that would be because they hold more than any other team. My theory is it is from all the frickin whining that is going on! A theory. Facts are hard things. Facts are if they are called more then any other team why would they inexplicably stop calling penalties against them? If anything the Rider o-line would be under more scrutiny based on their previous record. But whatever. Keep making excuses. -
Top 10 CIS prospects for 2015 CFL draft

This is a year where having 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks aplenty may lead to some real gems. -
Yep. 1-4 is going to bring about the doom and gloomers.

Guess you'll just have to wait and see how many guys they add to the PR when it expands. PR has nothing to do with an 'airlift'... you know that. Airlift is bringing in starters - every year the PR expands after NFL cuts Find a situation where a good team (we are over .500) brought a CFL rookie up from down south and put them onto their roster in the 2nd half of the season in this decade (2010s). We did last year because it was basically an extended 2014 training camp and we basically lost our entire OL at one point so Knapp and Jones got tossed to the wolves. Just doesn't happen. That's easy, Kenton Keith. not so easy because he's not applicable to the stated criteria. Pretty tight qualifiers I'll agree but let him prove me wrong, the 'X-factor' was signed late in the season iirc but I don't remember which, only him running all over us in the playoffs at home, big upset too. I was curious so I did a quick google search of Kenton Keith... here's something you should pay attention to: Keith signed with the Saskatchewan in December of 2002 so how are you trying to pass him off as a mid season acquisition? KK was brought up from the PR. He was with the team for quite awhile before getting dressed.

Yikes. Flashback to Etch using Kitwana Jones (225 pounds?) as an interior lineman.

Another danger in plucking players off of other teams' PRs is that it may become open season on your team's PR. I think a lot of the PR plucking may happen with communication between the GMs. It is a very small league so you don't want to make an enemy out of other GMs.

Who said the run is not a problem?

The good news is that Etch's defences have, in the past, really stepped it up against the run the closer it gets to the playoffs. -

This is a much better draft class then last year. 2014's draft was thin but this one is very intriguing. Drafts picks will be a wanted commodity for this draft. -

Yeah but Resurrection is a troll over there and doesn't count. Lol...Resurrection is pretty funny in the game day threads. He repeatedly puts his foot in his mouth. -
The SMS hit would depend on the difference between Burris' salary and Durant's as DD's salary for the remaining 8 games would be off the books.
-
Unlikely to happen anyway.
-
They don't have much of a chance. They'll have to pass two teams to do it and based on their divisional record (1-2) I wouldn't bank on it.

Good god, for the love of everything sane, this would make no sense for either team. Good god, for the love of everything sane, this would make no sense for either team. But the story lines would make CFL beat writers absolutely giddy.

It's all good. After all, it's just football at the end of the day. I love watching it, talking about it but ultimately there are way more important things in my life. -

Hate is such a strong word. -
The ironing would be delicious. I'd almost like to see it just to see all the headlines/ story lines. It's always nice to have a crisp, clean shirt on but I'm not really sure how that applies here... and I wouldn't strongly advise against tasting the ironing to see how delicious it is... Dude it's a quote from The Simpson's.

We just lost to the Riders 3 straight times in a span of a month. I would hardly call that the good part of the season!!! It seems like lately the few times we've started off well in a season it all comes crashing down with a couple ridiculous losses to the filthy riders. And as someone who doesn't visit any other teams' sites, it never occured to me that we might actually be getting the best of the Rider fans here because all the others are insufferable. That's a comforting thought and I'm going to go with it without looking into it further. The Bombers have an excellent chance to be in the playoffs. Everything is n their hands with lots of interdivisional play left. Keep the faith and beat the Lions. -
How could they trade for burris and his $400 000 Contract??? It would be more like 200k as the season is half over. There would be DD's salary off the books as well.

Oh yes, I will also be praying and holding vigil for him. Does anyone know if there's some sort of fund I can donate to to support him in this time of great difficulty? It must be really tough being the first CFLer in history to suffer a (sort of) serious injury. Stay classy Max.

mfranc replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Interesting - so they are #1 in holding in the league, then play two games (one I can see) in a row and don't get called for holding once. Put your green suit away for minute, or switch that over to the bombers. What would your comment be then? Anderson was tackled in Labour Day on his way to Durant (no call and Durant ended up with a 13 yard run to extend the game winning drive) and Pointbriand practically had his jersey ripped off off on Dressler's return for a TD in the open field, at the point of attack. If you called Glenn Johnson right now he'd admit the officials blew that one. Not saying we lost because of it - the Riders are still a better team right now, that's a fact. But as a CFL fan you should be concerned, because I'd love to hear your comments when Calgary beats you the same way and get away with holding called. If that happens, you come back to these series of games and keep your comments to yourself. Calls are missed every game. Going on and on about it does no good. If you think there is an agenda out there come out and say it. The point is I'm not going to whine and complain on here about missed calls because it tends to balance out. If you want to complain then fill your boots. -

Posting on other sites is good sometimes to get a different perspective and get away from some Pom Pom waving. The sign of a good site is when you attract fans from other teams to your site. Relax and enjoy the good part of the season Max.
