  1. I should re phrase that a bit. I felt at that time when they marched 80 yards or what ever it was on two plays and scored, that the defense had their spirit broken. It was a one score game you are right but Nichols was doing **** all, and Calgary kept moving the ball when they had it so it wasn't hard to see what direction the game was trending after that early td.
  2. What's your definition of very late? 3 minutes into second half? They made adjustments, you made none. It was over the second they scored. Not saying the Bombers couldn't beat the Riders, because they sure could. Without much issue is about as much of a pipe dream as I heard in a while. Look at the Riders stats against the run, which is all you have. Not a good match up
  3. He played well for us and I really liked him, but he was about 20 lbs over weight at the time. We moved on to Coleman who has been good for us. Hardrick has been very good for you, so it worked out for both parties. I think you guys are missing him now. He is a big team spirit guy out there.
  4. I don't think Trestman has that level of vision. He will do what the lower level coaches would do and just play him at WR
  5. Or it could mean he doesn't like the play calling from Lapolice. Doesn't matter, should have kept his mouth shut. simple
  6. Fair points. But when you double down the following week and say you thought you moved the ball well in second half and the receivers were not getting open. Out scored 30-11 in second half (7 out of 10 games now) and 8 of the 11 points came in garbage time with 8 seconds left. Might be just me but he might be best to zip it
  7. I'll start by saying to any of you travelling down for the game, have a safe trip. Secondly, I am super excited for the game. I think a split is coming in the series with us winning in Regina. The Riders are hungry right now and it is showing on the field. Bombers are reeling these last few weeks and it also shows on the field. Bombers have a good team and no one is taking them lightly here. Either of these teams could easily sweep the series if the other is not ready to play ball. This Rider crappy oline is a narrative getting pumped by a few fans. I would suggest looking at who has allowed the fewest sacks in the league. 2 sacks in last 4 games is pretty good in my books.
  8. Win is a win. I'll take it and be happy. Defense played well and got it done in spite of the reffing. Offense, not good enough but improving again this week.
  9. Happens all the time in football. I've seen the Bombers do it. Was that the only play you had on offense, hurry up. I would hope the OC can think of some other plays that might work
  10. The riders may have been first but someone was going to shut it down. A gimmick is a gimmick. No substitute for solid game calling
  11. I did. When the lights came on and he wasn't the newest greatest thing, he wasn't good enough to get it done
  12. That is what is happening in my opinion. I also think Nichols should surely be better at reading defenses that the rookie, and is more likely at this point to be able to run some different plays. If they ever decide to call some. You need to go to a little more of the 2017 offense your ran, more balance
  13. Don't take this the wrong way but if you would have run the ball as much then as you do now, Willy probably wouldn't have got killed as much as he did. Best thing you can do for a Oline is don't ask them to block very long. Dump passes and running plays makes it pretty dam hard to get to the qb. Once Harris got shut down however last week, the pressure came pretty quick, 4 sacks
  14. I agree with you here. If Nichols sucks this week, I'd give Schreveler some reps, especially if game is out of hand. Being the starter is a different animal. From here on out, I'd be trying to get him in there from time to time. Nothing ruins a young qb quicker than playing too soon. How many qb's has Montreal thrown in there in the last 5 years. Some of them looked pretty good, but the common theme was none of them were ready to be a starter.
  15. Exactly. Huff didn't want to rush it with Mitchell. They knew he was good but waited for him to develop.
  16. What ever he does or doesn't do means nothing to me. I don't even like Nichols, wouldn't you think I would want him to lose his job?
  17. 2014 was Mitchell's third year with the team. He had a very good handle on the play book before he ever got to play. The Stamps were 15-3 that year with a hell of a defense. They didn't need the young qb to have to out gun the opposition in the same way you need to this year
  18. There is the whole reading the defense thingy to consider. Coming in and running few plays on a limited playbook works good in the short term. Sooner or later you have to be able to stand in there and run the offense. Sandlot will not get it done once all the teams have film on you. I think this is a great young qb and I think he will be pushing for a starting spot by next years training camp. Right now, no way I would start him. Its still Nichols team. I wouldn't however let Nichols play all the downs, especially when he is sucking. Good way to light a fire under Matt's ass is sit him down when he is not performing to the level the team expects.
  19. Cats are due to get back on track. Edmonton hasn't looked very good and their defense is weak.
  20. Nichols is the unquestioned starter as it should be. I think what may happen is he will start getting a little less leash to play every second of every game. Good advice for any team, get the backup some reps when it is appropriate. Just a hunch but a combination of loyalty to veterans and trying to avoid a qb controversy is why Nichols continues to play every minute. Some times the best way to squash a controversy is put the kid in against a top defense, the reality will be easy to see. When Glenn started every game last year, everyone wanted Bridge to play. Bridge played this year, now you don't hear a word about it. Other side of the coin, if Backup plays well or excels against a top defense, maybe he should be playing more. Its a win win situation for the team
  21. Can't cut him when he is in the tub. edit. I see he is off 6 game now
  22. Depending how the season plays out, Nichols will be in a battle in training camp. A tough decision will be coming
