  1. You are correct. Stamps paying Flutie a million dollars a year, stuff like that. I guess what I meant was, do we want a league where the rookies run things? If I was a GM I would play hard ball too with a unproven player. No different that in real life where these young kids show up and want to make top dollar and be the boss, but haven't earned it. The cap makes it fair to a certain extent. Kavis has a lot of fences to mend to make Montreal a place where players want to sign.
  2. I agree with the just of what you are saying here. This kid however has kicked around the nfl for 3 years and actually started some games. No small feat. He is worth more than 80 IMO. One thing I will say is a lot of fans aren't old enough to remember this league tittering on financial ruin. Rookies holding out, and old vets looking to get paid more stresses the cap for each team. I would like to see contracts that have incentives in them, you play good, you get your respect/ money.
  3. I read that Dressler was neg listed by Bombers but told not to come to camp, then somehow ended up with Riders. I may be totally delusional here but I'm pretty sure that's how I remember it.
  4. Flory was a great lineman. Let me re-phrase. We did good from the point that we signed him as free agent and got a first round pick to give him back to Montreal. We got something for nothing. Agree that Nathan Hoffart ended up being nothing in the end. The fact remains however that Flory didn't want to be behind Greene, who was a dam good lineman himself. So we gained a pick for nothing, never saw a loss of production on line because Greene was here.
  5. The CFL isn't the same without Taman. Come back Brendan, we miss you. Just not in Regina or Winnipeg. Hopefully the Esk's hire him soon or Calgary
  6. Ya, you can only go to the zoo so many times in Regina hey? For the record on Flory, he got his panties in a knot once he realized he was playing second fiddle to Andrew Greene at guard and would have to flip flop to the weak side depending on spot of the ball. Makowsky and Greene always lined up on the strong side in Danny Barrett's offense. He refused to come and we traded him back to Montreal for a first round pick. We did good on the deal I would say.
  7. Leone was let go so he could sign with the Arizona Cardinals
  8. Cato is the same as Brett Smith who we had already. Won't run the called play, everything is a sandlot add lib. A player like that can never aspire to greatness, not smart enough to take what is there or what is called, always trying to be the smartest guy in the room, or the dumbest, not sure which. Either way I don't see Cato as a guy to go after,
  9. Agreed. We brought Carter in, no way we look at Cato..
  10. I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night... LOL Sorry but I'm a Sasky boy, born in the prairies. Lots of good people here no different than Manitoba, work with lots of Manitoba guys in the patch. Good eggs..
  11. I love the Riders and will always will be a diehard fan, doesn't mean I am best buddies with every rider fan. I won't defend some comments made by fellow fans, just because we cheer for the same team. At the same time, I will defend my team when I need to, or a fellow rider fan or fan of any team for that matter, who I think has done nothing wrong. Cheering for a different team doesn't automatically make a person a idiot or a uneducated fan. There are some posters who I agree could pound sand, but I try not to take it to heart. Everyone has a right to have a opinion, as long as they are not being rude or offending anyone I think they can post that opinion. Isn't that what these forums are for? Discussion?
  12. Any comments? I don't believe that to be true. Certain comments is a better way to put I would say. As far as people wanting their own site, that goes everywhere. Many posters there and here have zero problem with out of town fans posting, in fact I think it adds a lot of perspective to the conversation. I enjoy talking football and try not to stir the pot when on another teams site, and for the most part have gotten along well here. There are definitely some die hard people that challenge comments from "visitors" but those people challenge locals in the same way, its just their posting style. I'm not here to defend anyone, just commenting on what I see.
  13. Yes it is your friend. He said "and even then" edit. I should have read further, others had already responded
  14. Not to derail thread, but you wouldn't trade the first overall pick for Mitchell? Your crazy man, he'd be a steal if that's all you had to give up
  15. I'm not going to defend this move. Point blank, I don't like it at all. Is there a chance Young can still play?, yes I guess there is. No way I would sign him, real head scratcher to me.
  16. A year from now Nichols could be on the block. Maybe Reilly gets hurt again and they run him out of town instead. Who knows what could happen. A team could sign a player who had lost his spot with current team only to find out later the replacement on said team was a crack dealer.
  17. It was a bit of a troll which is not my nature. More intended as a shot back at the never ending shots I have to read through just to find some football discussion sometimes
  18. How long could the hype sit in the cup before it evaporated? Would there be any left in 26 years I wonder? Just curious what you thought.
  19. I had high hopes for Ainsworth. Just couldn't seem to stay healthy. He has potential. I really hope he lands on his feet somewhere and gets a shot. Dealing Foley basically put him on the bench. Then dealing Crapicotti made him expendiable
  20. I know its fun to make fun of the Riders around these parts but is this a serious question?? The Argo are a mess, a total train wreck.
  21. If he is that good, the deal is worth it. Its the unknown part that scares me. Personally I would give Scurvy nothing and take a run at him next year as a free agent. I want us to pursue a deal to bring in Adams, cheaper and also gives us a year to test drive until Franklin is available
  22. Is that how its going to be today? More like Ms. Winnipeg. Oh never mind he has all his teeth wouldn't be eligible.
