Around The League Regular Season Discussion
Ripper replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Absolutely true. The thing with the qb's is a ref is almost always standing 10 feet from him looking right at him. That ref is usually head official which makes missing the call even worse. -

I found it odd in Regina on Thursday DD takes helmet to helmet head shot right beside the head referee and no call until Jones challenged it. I can't imagine what the hell the ref is seeing on that play to not make a call. I could hear the sound of helmets popping when they banged together.. -
1976, he who won't be named catches a pass and we lose the grey cup. 2009, too many on the field and we lose. tons of heart break storeys. I firmly believe life is a collection of events, if you change one thing, everything changes. But on the flipside changing one thing doesn't change everything. No way anyone could know how things would have turned out if Glenn plays that game
-
Fair points, but you have to agree that any given game is a collection of events and momentum. To say the game would have ended differently If Glenn plays isn't true. Would the Bombers chances been a lot better if he starts? Absolutely. Hate to break a Bomber folklore but Glenn hasn't exactly been a big game performer over his career. Are you 100% sure he would have stepped up and won that game for you guys? That's not a shot or dig but just a discussion point.

Bomber point of view probably. Rider point of view is it wouldn't have mattered. Truth probably somewhere in the middle

I don't understand the love the ticats have been getting. Without Collaros for some reason they are still a number one team in the east??? I don't see it at all. Funny how the questions fly about how is Durant going to be after not playing for so long, but yet Collaros is going to miss a year with a major injury and the he'll be fine and the cats are a cup contender??? Ottawa is very good and Toronto is too with Ray healthy. I don't see the Cats as a contender. Its a winnable game for you guys. Bombers have to get ahead so they can run the ball. If you get behind and have to pass pass pass, I'm afraid its gonna get ugly in a hurry. As a Rider fan obviously it would be better if you lost as far as standings go, but as a football fan, outside of Owens, nothing to be scared of with the Cats. Make sure Randall is on Owens as he has been the only bright spot in your secondary.

Not sure what to think of this mess. Find it odd we play hardball with St John and then cave in to Lemon. I would have let him sit and rot. One thing is for sure, Barker is looking slippery these days for a fat guy.

I don't care if you guys agree with me or not. But on this one point, speaking from the heart as a Rider fan, FFS don't even consider Chamblin. I wouldn't let that arrogant prick fill up the water bottles. He is a idiot, period.. I'm not a big Ritchie Hall fan, but he knows his stuff but his schemes are heavily dependant on personal. His defense doesn't work without big pressure up front. His 2007 and 2013 grey cup rings had ferocious front 4's on them. The premise is pressure causing mistakes by qb leading to turnovers. Bombers secondary is a weak spot on your team, the coverage is just not there guys and neither has the pressure been. Hall is a sitting duck and will be fired by MOS in a attempt to save his own butt.

I've been a fan of Goosen. Its starting to look like he just isn't starting caliber. He is getting killed in the middle

Week 2 Other Games (Als vs Ott Sask vs TO Ham vs BC)

They said on the radio last night he is playing at 210lbs, usually been at 230lbs. I agree he needs to adapt if he wants to continue -

He held back after we got burned. That's not a excuse. When our young secondary gets a little more experience, the blitzing will come and we won't have to worry about getting burned for a long td because someone in cover 3 lets his guy go thinking he has outside support when there isn't any. Dixon clearly misread the play. That's a fact, not a excuse. He respected Ray in the sense that he knew Ray was a vet and would make us pay dearly if we kept trying it. The best way to beat a blitzing defense is it hit them where it hurts, on the scoreboard. I want the riders to hammer every team we play, and yes I expect that from Jones. I also expect him to be smart enough to call plays that make sense. I can think of at 3 coaching blunders last night from Jones -

After we got torched for the td, we backed off. Is respect the wrong word for that? -

Thing that has always separated Ray from anyone else is his ability to simply take what is there and get the ball out quickly. The guy has played a long time for a reason, he just doesn't take a lot of hits. Taking what's there sounds so easy, but time and again teams move away from something simple that is working and find failure elsewhere. Ray will just kill u with the dump passes all night long. One example, the Bombers were clearly getting success with Harris last week, why didn't they stick with it more?? -

Ray is the best qb to play in CFL in recent memory, hands down. He is still dangerous, he was kept because they know what he can do. Jones held back the blitzing last night on Ray as he respects him. For the most part our defense did a good job against him, holding him to 180 passing. As far as Durant, I get the Rider hate around here but he is a very good qb. Serious fans can see and acknowledge talented players on other teams. -

Agreed. Campbell also wasn't far on the field either. Carter clearly went over there to stir up shyte. Carter should be suspended -
I agree, but the team should, at least to a degree be always looking to improve.

Wasn't one of his strong suits. Always liked Lapo as a coach but always thought he wasn't mean enough

Seems obvious they have discipline problems when Popp is in charge. Look for this to get worse as year goes on -

I was happy with what I saw from Durant last night. Bit of rust. Dished up a couple juicy pick-6"s that were dropped. I'm sure he would like those ones back. All and all, good first game for him. Look at this way, DD wasn't the reason we lost. -

Doubles could definitely play fullback, he is a tank. -
I don't remember Dressler ever having a Concussion. I do remember a few times tweaking the hamstring. That's been a off and on thing, but he has always sort of played through it. Bottom line, dressler needs to smarten TFU and get out of bounds or something. Foolish to take unnecessary hits. I was mad at him watching the game and he doesn't even play for us anymore.

It hasn't been a secret that Jones wanted a committee approach to DE. Lots of rotation and fresh legs. If that doesn't work for Lemon, he won't be here long. I agree he has had problems being a good team mate in the past.
