  1. Newsome has been better, bottom line. Lemon will still play a lot, heavy rotation is expected.
  2. Reportedly signed for less than the original offer. Ya, he sure had us over the barrel
  3. By sending all those players out the way they did, they basically didn't allow ref to blow time in. I believe the ball was marked back five yards so they must have charged them with a procedure penalty, hence stopping the clock. Game can't end on a penalty.
  4. Two of the top defenses last year sure didn't look very good tonight. Ottawa front four is defiantly missing Cap, Lemon, and Sholo
  5. That bum couldn't kick a 30 yarder when he played for us. LOL. I'm glad he made that one
  6. Recent memory with Riders, 2011 grease fire, 2013 grey cup champs.
  7. Ottawa situation doesn't count even though I agree with you to a certain extent. They start out with a draft to help and have no salary cap issues. Every team is paying out a old contract or two or whatever. Ottawa started clean. That being said, they have done a hell of a job of being competitive quickly and prove the point that a team can turn it around in a hurry
  8. Bombers miss the playoffs, MOS is gone and should be. Willy is in same boat, however he could be back depending on his stats. Willy had some garbage time stats yesterday, he wasn't good when it mattered
  9. This is a make it or break year for Willy and MOS. I wouldn't panic after one game, but by year end, something good better be happening
  10. Same as Lions letting Reilly go to keep Lulay. Big mistake
  11. We missed playoffs 11 years in a row. Can't think of one coach that survived 3 years. I believe Faragalli almost made 3 years however
  12. Riders were a war machine under his watch, never missed the playoffs once and were in 3 grey cups. 3 first place finishes in west. 1970 Riders were 14-2
  13. Best Rod Black F-up is on one play he said " he was stopped in his tracks... after a 3 yard gain" . I kind of thought stopped in your tracks would be no gain.
  14. I'm not here to defend Drew Willy but he isn't calling the plays and that Oline looks about the same as last year. 5 sacks against. Success off and on with Harris, but yet the Offense kept going away from it. Lapo needs to be a lot better calling the plays. Drew clearly blew some throws to open receivers but the crappy performance is only about 1/3 on him IMO. Lapo and Oline own the rest
  15. Except for the part that the Esks had them both and kept Franklin because he was clearly better.
  16. I definitely like you guys better in the new one
  17. Picton had good camp, plays center and Guard. Only 23 years old. Played for Regina Rams. Actually surprised we cut him TBH. I think he will get signed elsewhere
  18. Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Been a rough week but life goes on. Its hardest on the kids as they don't understand. But anyways back to football and mud slinging
  19. Yes. Which is exactly what the Bombers did to us last year with Troy Stoudmire and Ottawa did to us with Alex Pierzniski. Also Hamilton did same to get Marcus Thigpen too. Happens all the time guys, honest question?? Would Wally Buono bat a eye at stealing a player from the Bombers if it would help his team??
  20. The last game played at Taylor Field will be the most important game in the history of the stadium. The end of a era. The memories of days gone by will be missed. Children growing up and going to games and learning about the game we love. My dad died yesterday morning, he was 84, and a lifelong Rider fan. I remember him taking me to the games in the early 70's. I didn't understand what the Riders were about then but knew it must be a big deal as he would get so mad when we would lose. I'm pretty sure he thought the CFL should have folded when Lancaster retired. He was mad to his last day that we changed our uniforms from the originals. That is what pride is, that is what tradition is, fathers and sons passing the torch of fandom. I take my kids to Taylor field now and embrace every second of it. You either get that man or you don't. I don't think I could explain it any better. Fans of another team have no reason to care about rivals stadiums, but those fans should understand why said stadium means the world to those fans. We'll make new memories in the new stadium, some good, and some bad, it will just take time till it feels like home.
  21. Just my 2 cents but you guys starting running the ball more when Flanders came in, Nichols was getting the ball out there quicker as well as rolling out, and Ottawa likely had more backups playing at that time. All these things took a lot of pressure off your oline. I like Drew Willy and think he is a good QB, but him holding the ball seemed to urge the pass rush on also so he had a part to play in it too. Look at our game, Coleman got the ball out quick and things ran smooth, as soon as Brett Smith came in it was a shyteshow because he held the ball too long. The Dline pins their ears back and comes after him if they think they can get there. They slow up and stay lane responsible more if they fearing a running play or a hot read
  22. Neufeld played good I thought, problems on oline were in the middle. Goosen struggled all night, bad snap that was a fumble on the third down that you converted. Macho was brutal, got matador'd on the td, the one that didn't count because they said he stepped out of bounds. Sheppard looked good. Flanders looked good. Carlos Anderson wasn't good again this week, he isn't blocking good either. Nichols looked good. McDuffie played ok, but his hands are scary, he is depth guy and returner IMO, not a starter. Issues I see are Oline and secondary. Burris picked them apart. May improve with the starters on dline in, and likely will with more upfront pressure.
  23. Don't think you are lacking. Couture, Chung, Goosen are all young. Lots of promise there, lots IMO.
