The game was way smoother with the new reduced challenge rule. IMO.
-
"And it turned out nice again." -Cactus Jack great opportunity and it worked well.

Thorpe does run hard after the catch. Am I imagining the Bomber receivers are becoming persistent at YAC yards? Aside from the Lankford grab and sprint, did Adams contribute some after catch real estate also? And that Italian fella, him too? But, 1. Medlock...for FG's in the clutch and hammering the ball to the end zone for the single. 2. Nichols...for leadership. 3. Harris...for reliable possessions. HH...Randle. Getting the Blue back into the game.

Yeah, foam on the outside of the head. https://www.forbes.com/sites/abigailtracy/2016/02/04/nfl-cte-football-concussions-injuries-helmet-vicis-zero1-super-bowl/#7d3e17ea5f05 ha, when I was younger it was foam, no it was whipped cream... different story.

Yes, rugby. So now we like to watch a guy get "hit". Maybe it's watch a guy get "tackled"?
-
That makes all the sense in the world. Only as a graphic example, eliminate all head to head hits if no helmets where used. No more body as a projectile hit if no shoulder pads but arm tackles, like when I was a kid. If it hurts to tackle as much as it is to get tackled...the defender will pay attention to ending the play and not killing the guy.

Personally, this is the arguement that seems valid. There is an inherent risk involved. There is probably more to identifying the risk than just having the player sign a waiver. The player advocates are pounding the table to reduce risk. In time they may acquire evidence or provide enough suggestions that could damage or eliminate the sport as we know it today. This learning might just be the most prudent approach in the longer term. I would sure hate to loose the sport, it's great entertainment. Touch football, how awful would that be to watch? Bleeech.

Valid observation. Yes, the study did point out that these brains were not a random sampling and therefore supports your statement that the results are skewed. Seems that CTE can only be diagnosed post-mortem. How long after the damage, are symptoms apparent? Maybe I'll spend some time today and look that up. Maybe.

http://nationalpost.com/sports/football/nfl/brain-study-examined-111-former-nfl-players-all-but-one-had-neurodegenerative-disease-cte/wcm/85bdfe58-dc06-4ef7-905b-27859a3a3c78. Seven of eight cfl brains studied had CTE. I'm postulating there are at least two people on the Sask football squad currently with CTE. I'm not naming names. One is a coach and another is a receiver. Both are idiots.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

I'm thinking Johnny Manziel would have no interest in the CFL. Apparently he still has plans on returning to the NFL. His mommy and daddy would be glad to sit him down finance his pleasures and not risk injury playing in our league. The family reportedly is worth more than 50 million dollars. This fella thinks highly enough of himself, that he has applied for trademark of "Johnny Football" as his own. Sounds like a ****** bag to me. With his baggage a **** up here and he'll have no chance at all in the NFL. -
Kev-in, he only has one ball. Car-ter, has two but they are small. La-batte, has something simler. but Chris Jones, has no balls, at all.
-
Six syllables? Oh man...that's two hard for me!
-
I'd be a fan if I could pronounce his name.

Numero uno- has to be Medlock. Numero due- dressler for being clutch numero tres- Heath, he owns the d backfield Happy Honker- Loffler punishing the Argo receivers. and a very honorable mention to the IGF Security staff for escorting out from the north end zone area the biggest jerk in the entire stadium. Oh, did I mention he was wearing a rider jersey #89 Getzlaff? A complete nimrod that typifies the average rider fan. He was looking to start something. A provacateur that I'd swear, was begging for a thrashing. Rider fans have even more to be ashamed of and they weren't even playing. Honestly, it's beyond jokes. What the F is wrong with those people?

I'd agree that your pragmatic view and question, "which is better for the league?" Is a strategy that the league should adopt to implement the suspension. Firstly, they need to ensure that the charges stick. Secondly they would want the imposed penalty to stick. Fairness is an ideal strategy at this point. Sending a tough message is not a cool strategy when dealing with a progressive, supportable decision. The league then needs to ensure that should Hill decide to touch another official, what form of discipline in a second incident would not be eroded by a first incident appeal. And so forth. Roughing the ref is not a football play in anyone's books. -

The video link is evidence of an attempt to injure. In the accompanying blog There are many rider fans that support Carter intentionally trying to injure another player. The cart wheel that carter uses Hurl for is way beyond a hard fought play. Unlike Loffler on the BC receiver in the end zone during the west semi last year, that was a football play. The receiver could expect such a hit in the BC case. Hurl could expect to be block by a bigger body than he, Hurl could reasonably expect that he might get injured while being blocked. But he should not have to expect an intentional attempt to injure. It is unreasonable and approaching criminal behavior for Carter to intentionally attack Hurl with a non football play. Once again the many rider fans supporting carter as "face masks happen" reflect badly on the perception that they can analyze there own squads faults with a balanced view. They prove, once again, they are effen nuts.

That is a highly entertaining Blue Bomber clip. Not only did Dressler get his two TD's, his significant contributions on Medlocks field goals and converts have previously not been as apparent as demonstrated in the video. What a performer. What a great guy.

The Bombers are healthy. Apparently We have no notable injuries carried over from our first game. But the boys do practice.... -

Seems that Mike OShea uses different language. Where you say "Nichols should..." the coach prefers to use "we got things we need to improve on..". Where you say "can't ignore his bad play.". The coach again prefers to use "we got things we need to improve on...". That first quarter needed improvement. However wasn't the opening week being a bye week, NOT foreseen as a risk? The first quarter provided evidence the bye hurt the Blue. Bernie has only lost 3 of 15 games now. When was the last time our squad's qb did that?
